I give comparatively few 5-star ratings (fewer than 5% of my ratings) but this book gets the full 5 star rating (no rounding up) without reservation. It's a beautiful 12"x14" book with a series of natural and wildlife pictures from different areas of Canada. The pictures are realistic .. skipping the distortions that so many modern artists feel compelled to use to demonstrate that they don't employ “old-fashioned” painting techniques
The beautiful natural pictures speak deeply to my soul and even though I don't much love winter, I appreciate the many winter scenes he paints.
This is an oversized artbook featuring 59 gorgeous paintings by Robert Bateman. They look fantastic on the pages, and the blurb says twenty of them haven't been published before. All of them are presented without any words or story other than their title.
I would've given Robert Bateman's Canada 5 stars at a lower MSRP. YMMV. It's overpriced compared to similar art books, and there was a *lot* of empty space that could've been used much better.
