5 emotionally charged impactful ride

*Received an ARC copy for honest review for Wicked Women Book Blog*

KA Sterritt has done it again, she has blown me away with Impact, the 2nd story in the Fight for Life series. HOLY BATMAN IN GOTHAM! What a ride! I felt all spectrum of emotions bombard me with this story.

Impact starts on the fateful day when the past comes knocking on Leo Ashlar’s door step. A past that he still struggles to forget, a past that still has the ability to wreck him, a past that will pave his future. It was a struggle for me to see all the emotions cripple Leo. His subsequent actions had me gasping. I wanted to throw things at the author for putting Leo through the torture. *glare at author* my heart broke into pieces.

While Leo was keeping his history hidden from Jules, she was equally adamant in trying to salvage their relationship. She was not going to let anyone stop her from having her HEA. Jules made me fall in love with her once again; her courage in the face of so much negativity was truly breathtaking. I loved watching two of my favorite book peeps get together and fall in love all over again. It was absolutely swoon worthy. Jules was the perfect salve for Leo’s wounded soul.

Leo Ashlar lost everything one fateful night that forever changed his life while Juliette Salinger’s life was a lot of missed chances, because she was living someone else’s life. Yet these two lost souls found solace in each other’s embrace. They both helped each other rise up from the ashes of their past. But life has challenges and trails that will leave you shattered in pieces. Leo faces the same challenge that might end everything good in his life. Will Leo be able to have his HEA with Jules? Or will the evil witch from hell break the bond that holds Leo and Jules together. Will their love burn strong or will it turn to ashes. To find out 1-click this book right now.

To say I loved Leo and Jules would be an understatement, KA Sterritt has taken me on a roller-coaster ride of emotions that has left me gasping, swooning, crying and gasping once more. If you want a book to impact your senses, READ THIS BOOK RIGHT NOW.

“‘That someone let you go. If you were mine, I would never let you go.’”

5 fight for me stars! Leo has my heart!!

Leo and Juliette, where do I begin? These two had me so frustrated but in a good way. The angst and sexual tension between these two, almost had me exploding! This book took me on an emotional roller coaster! I was up and then down, it was intense. After reading book one and book two, I’m now a huge fan of K.A! And I’ll be reading more from her in the future!

I loved everything. I can't tell you how hard it was to read that last sentence in Collision and know that I had to wait for answers but Kate did not disappoint. Leo is a sexy as sin fighter with a soft spot for Jules the adrenaline junkie. I love that things weren't perfect and just work out. I love the angst, the twists and turns but most of all I loved the love of these two characters. I would've finished sooner if life didn't get in my way. I didn't want to put it down. I hope Kate gives us more because I need more of Leo and Jules.

Two of my very favorite characters from Down Under came back to life for me this week, and let me tell you, they left my head spinning and my heart full. After finishing Collision last fall, which left me with a massive book hangover, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on book two. And let me tell you, K.A. Sterritt, did her characters proud, creating yet another masterpiece.

Juliette is back from her break and stronger than ever. I loved her in Collision, but I was even more drawn to the new, revamped ex-society princess. She’s found herself, and she is not going to deviate from who she wants to be. She is strong. She is sassy. And she is done putting up with her mother’s insane, condescending taunts. Though she is confronted with some new, possibly life-altering surprises, she handles them with strength, grace, and character. The question is, will that character be enough to keep her on her chosen path with Leo? Or will she finally succumb to the persuasion of the powerful and influential world of her parents?

And hot, sexy Leo. If only good looks and charm could dig a person out of trouble, he’d have the perfect elixir. Unfortunately for him, his mystery has been revealed, and the secrets behind it have brought him to his knees. One thing we know about Leo, is he won’t go down without a fight. Yes, Leo has some crazy demons to battle, but when these beasts are brought to light, it makes for an intriguing, heartbreaking, and suspenseful story. One thing is for sure. There’s not a reader out there who won’t be screaming from his corner.

The ring. The cage. Whatever the venue, it’s a powerful metaphor. Their instinct to fight and protect each other from a world crumbling around them is ultimately the driving force behind their compelling story. Thank God fate has put Leo and Juliette together. Two passionate fighters, wanting to escape their crippling pasts. They have found their strength in each other. The question is, do they have enough fight in them? And if so, are their instincts strong enough to save them from a world that’s working overtime to rip them apart?

Their story is captivating, beautiful, and one you won’t want to miss. I would encourage anyone who has not read this series to start reading today.

One thing is for sure. Collision and Impact pack a one-two punch. I couldn’t read fast enough. After dizzily turning the last page, my head is still spinning! As a matter of fact, I just finished an hour ago and still, all I can see are thousands of stars swirling above me. It’s a shame I can only make 5 of them light up for you!

Great work K.A. Sterritt!

*****4.5 Impactful stars*****

ARC generously provided in exchange for an honest review.

The end of Jules' and Leo's story is bitter sweet. I'm sad it's over but I'm also elated at the way in which their lives turned out. From the beginning you knew these two were destined to be with one another.

Impact begins exactly where Collision finished off. The cliff-hanger at the end of book one kept me wanting more. Sterritt doesn't disappoint. She gets right back into it and BAM, away we went.

I loved Jules' and Leo's mature relationship. Even though they went through some rough patches, they always seem to end up on the right side with very little angst and always with a sound mind. I appreciate that in their characters. Their love for one another reaches off the page and it makes you yearn for a love like that.

For me, the Farm house is so special. I can vividly imagine the lovely space and can picture every beautiful detail Kate elaborates on. She is gifted in her attention to detail and it works so well.

I particularly loved the last 20% of this book. I couldn't get through it fast enough. My brain couldn't read at the speed in which my heart needed it to.

I'm excited to see what Mrs. Sterritt has in store for us next.

Impact: A Fight for Life Series book two by K.A. Sterritt is absolute perfection.

Sterritt picks up where Collision ended, and brings Jules and Leo right back into our hearts.

Juliette Salinger knows in her heart that Leo is worth fighting for. Even though her family and life events keep getting in their way. She is determined to fight for their love.

However, Leo Ashlar feels he is not good enough for Jules, and continues to let his past haunt & control him.

Leaving the question, will they both be able to find their way past the obstacles life and family have set before them? Or will they find it easier to go their separate ways ?

Sterritt has truly gifted her readers with these amazing characters and storyline. They are raw, and they are real. And most of all, they are powerful in their love and emotions. The feelings literally jump off the page as you are reading.

If you haven’t read Collision, then stop right here. Go out and one-click that baby. Then when you’re done reading it, meet us back here. 

Now back to it. It’s been months since I was left waiting on the edge from Collision’s cliffy, where Leo informed us that his mother is alive and well. This is after I was lead to believe she was dead the whole time. Why would anyone do this? Why the secret? I would have to wait to find out.

Thankfully the waiting is over and I have all the answers to my questions.

Leo and Jules are finally back where they are supposed to be and then bam! The first Impact hits them head on. Leo’s mother is not only alive but she’s as crazy as Jules’ mother. I would even go as far as to say she’s worse. His mother is a calculating, evil woman who’s only ambition is herself, even if it means destroying her son. Poor Leo is left to make decisions that could cost him Jules and his life, just to feed her thirsty ambition. It’s heartbreakingly sad to watch a son be torn apart by the woman who is supposed to love and nurture him forever.

Juliette sees the damage this woman has done and continues to try to do to him. She wants nothing more than to be able to help the love of her life, but he’s reluctant to let her know the truth about his families past. She only knows the farmhouse is somehow connected and that his mother’s friends believe he is in the wrong for the way he treats his mother. At times the frustration of his withholding information becomes too much and she wonders if he will ever be fully present in their relationship. Fortunately she holds strong, and helps Leo work through his ghosts.

On top of dealing with the arrival of Leo’s mother, Juliette has her own box of crazy at home to deal with. Her mother is still up to her manipulative ways, but we finally get a clearer picture about why she is the way she is. This does not excuse her previous behavior. Although her father was just as bad, I was thrilled to see him finally pull his head out of the sand and stand up to her mother. Things weren’t ever going to be perfect for Jules and her parents, but it was a step in the right direction.

Among the chaos, we learn a little more about Jules’ trip to Europe with Sia. Plus, further insight to how Leo became part of the fighting circuit. I especially loved this part. There were some fun surprises here that only made me love Leo more. Of course, we also learn more about the beautiful farmhouse and the mystery it holds.

Everything seems to be falling into place for these two again, then bam! Another Impact, except this time I was left with my mouth hanging open in shock. Seriously, how much can one person take? Of course I can’t tell you what happens but I’m sure you will feel the same way.

Once everything is said and done and Karma takes her turn, we are left with the HEA both Leo and Juliette not only deserved but earned. I was sad to see it end. This series beautifully shows that with all the adversity, love can conquer anything.

Looking forward to what Ms. Sterritt will offer us next.

It was so good to get back in Jules and Leo's world. I was swept up in the story and even quit adulting for a day so I could read this book, it was that good!

Jules is doing everything she can to fight for her and Leo's relationship. Will it be enough? Will she be the only one fighting or will Leo get in the ring and fight for them too? Will he be able to let go of the past so he can get on with his future?

Leo doesn't want to hold Jules back from doing what she wants and is there for her and cheering her on to be who she wants to be and do what she wants to do. He's such a sweetheart! He has some amazing sweet gestures that will make you sigh.

Holy crap Jules mom is such a conniving, manipulative woman! I honestly don't care what she had been through in the past, you don't treat your child that way. I understand that it's Jules mom and she wants her love, but enough is enough. I would have walked away from her until she got her poop in a group. Maybe that would make her mom really stop and think about what she was doing.

If her mom isn't bad enough, you have Leo's mom! Unbelievable! Wow! Just wow! Truly an evil woman and she's downright scary. Leo wants answers from her regarding his dad and what he finds out is truly shocking!

I received and ARC of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

HOLY COW! I don't know if I can even put into words what I'm thinking and feeling after reading this. It was everything! I was lucky enough to be pretty new to this author and have had recently finished up book 1 - Collision - as well as getting an ARC of this because I think if it had been different the wait would have drove me insane.

I can't seem to get enough of these characters and I hope they make an appearance in future books by KA or that we are graced with a novella at some point. I just don't want to let them go yet.

I also have to say how much I LOVE a "HOLY COW DIDN'T SEE THAT ONE COMING" moments in books and this totally had that! Usually I figure everything out but I honestly had no clue about how all of this wrapped up. Love love LOVE!

I can honestly say I will read anything KA writes from here on out. I'm hooked I love her style, her characters and her storytelling.

What Sterritt was trying to do here, I think, was focus on the affective force of trauma as it relates to queerness and what Irigaray termed "the leaky faucet" of lesbian subjectivity. This was fine as far as it went, but then it collided with what Derrida called "the bolus of contention", and neither idea survived the impact. I was unable to finish.

I seem to be the first reviewer to notice that the protagoniste Juliette Salinger is based loosely on the reclusive author J.D. Salinger, and the protagonist Leo Ashlar, on tennis star Arthur Ashe - a clever bit of gender bending and racial play which could have worked better perhaps if the author had incorporated Lauren Berlant's idea of "the ellipsis, with its double meaning of what goes without saying and what has not yet been thought."

Impact starts right where Collision ends and the fast paced and action packed story of Juliette and Leo continues.

We find out what the secret is that Leo has been holding onto for 5 years and how it's driven his life to the path on which it is now.

Juliette' character showed growth in this second book and whilst I always liked her, I think her development in stop being a door mat to her mums wishes and revealing her true self made me like her even more.

There is a lot going on in this book that I didn't think was necessary because the story line with out all the bat shit crazy was enough to drive the story.

Overall a great Aussie series and I will be reading more of Kate Skerritt

You can't read Impact without reading Collision first because it starts where the other ends, and if you've read Collision you can't wait before starting Impact because you're too curious to know how Jules and Leo's story will end.

"I don't think there are right and wrong choices. There's just ways of dealing with the road you take."

I've really enjoyed this book.It tells Juliette and Leo's journey to find the truth and lifelong happiness.
It was so good and amazingly written.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. Holy cow was this book out of this world amazing!!
This is the continuation of Leo and Juliette's story from Collision. I absolutely loved the angst and the twists and turns of the plot. There were some very unexpected events in this book that kept me on the edge of my seat almost the entire time. The ending through me for a complete loop!
I loved learning more aspects of both boxing and cage fighting that I didn't know before.

I'm very curious if we will get to read about Sia's story at some point.

Overall, I would highly recommend this book!

Impact continues on where Collision ended, on that cliffy no less!
I have waited with baited breath for the conclusion to Jules and Leo's amazing, but at times fraught, journey. And I was by no means disappointed. It was everything I was hoping for and more, this was one huge rollercoaster of emotion! The plot twists had me in knots, the scenes between Jules and Leo packed with energy and all the feels you can imagine! I couldn't get enough and felt the love as if it were my own, the pull between the two of them was palpable.
If I could give Impact more stars I would, and I for one, want more from these two!!

Holy moly! Having just finished this incredible wild ride of a book I am kind of lost for words! If you loved Leo and Jules in Collision, you will love them even more in Impact!

My heart was pounding in parts, I shed some tears and was even very shocked about someone! I really wanted to give gorgeous alpha male Leo a big hug, he has such a beautiful strong woman in Jules by his side and how things develop for them both is wonderful to see! Granted they have some intense drama and we find out certain things that will surprise you!

This book was sensational!!!

This book was a real page turner, I enjoyed all the twists and turns, the angst and suspense. All the secrets and questions you asked yourself while reading Collision are answered in Impact. This duo took way too long to go so short a distance. Jules was more bearable in this one having finally grown a little backbone. Leo did manage to come out the other side of the lying thing but dear god he was so angsty. The major plot points were too drawn out. It took one book and close to 3/4 of this one to find out what his deal was which was so long that the story had lost the impact it would've had it come earlier. This author is overly addicted to the drama, adding in stuff that serves no purpose other than to throw a wrench into things for a chapter or two and just drag the whole mess out even more. The love is more well developed and mature in this one. On the other hand the foreshadowing had all the subtlety of throwing a hammer at someone's forehead and it wasn't even properly done. one character says little did I know this decision would almost cost me the other's life. Two problems with that. First it ruins the drama because you already know that the person will live. Two, it was the speaker of that line that actually ends up in danger so it was their life that almost ended not the other's.
bottom line: though this wasn't a bad book it could've (and should've) been pared down to one book. A lot of the stuff in these books was unnecessary and dragging things out and over use of minor dramas leeched the impact of the major stuff.

Can someone really be your future when they don't know your past? Does it even matter, does our past have to define our future? When you have run so long that you don't even recognize that you are still running, maybe it is time to stop? What if running isn't really helping you move on at all? Maybe sometimes you have to stop and fight. Leo may be a cage fighter, but not all opponents can be locked in a cage.

Impact picks up right from the cliffhanger in collision. It is definitely not a stand-alone read. Both Collision and Impact alternate between Jules' and Leo's narration. For the most part the story doesn't double back on itself (ie repeat the same scene in each person's viewpoint over and over), and the points where it does there is a definite reason for the double narration. It's more like sitting with a couple and listening to them interweave a story and build on each other, rather than meeting Leo for coffee and hearing his version, and then going for drinks with Jules and hearing hers with all the boring details repeated ad nauseam. The individual viewpoints that the separate narrations bring really enhance the story and bring it more fullness than a single narrator could have.

Similar to the alternating narration both books together tell the whole story, but each one seems to have a different slant which makes the story, as a whole, fuller and more compelling. While Collision was more the story of Jules taking control of her life, Impact is more the tale of Leo deciding what is really worth fighting for. There is still plenty of Jules of course. Including left over issues with her crazy messed up parents. Especially her insane/manipulative mother. However in Impact, Jules herself is more secure in who she is and what she wants. Meanwhile, Leo knows that he wants Jules, but when his past is staring him in the face he has to decide how much of himself he really is ready to share with her.

As Leo is struggling with figuring out how to get the future he wants, while his ugly past is refusing to leave him alone, we get to know so much about him:
- We get to know not only why he won't go into the house, but why he won't get rid of it either.
- We get to know more about his family.
- We get more insight into his training and what led him to the cage.
- We get to know what makes him so good as a fighter.
- We get to see him as more than just a fighter
- We get to see him as more than just a smoking hot, hot man who makes women's panties melt

And most importantly we get to see what his heart is made of, what makes him tic and we get to take a journey with him as he learns what he is willing to do to keep Jules safe and happy.

I loved this book. I got it a few days ago and have read it three times. I love the new Jules who isn't going to be cowed by anyone else's expectations anymore. I love that she is willing to fight for Leo. And I love getting to know Leo more. Seriously, this man's heart and their story makes my heart happy.

And none of that even mentions the plot twists that Sterritt threw in there just to really mess with us, in such good ways. This series gave me all the feels, and isn't that all we can really ask from a good novel (or two).

‘Since the moment our lives collided, I knew you were it for me. The impact was a once in a lifetime event’

After running as far away from Leo as she possibly could, Juliette has made the decision to return.
She has made the decision to fight.
To fight for what she wants.
To fight for what she needs.
To fight for her one true love.
To fight for Leo.

But on her return what both Leo and Juliette don’t expect is to be faced with Leo’s past.
A secret that Leo has kept to himself for five long years.
A secret that will now be unearthed.
A secret that could ultimately destroy them both.

Will Leo ever reveal his past to Juliette?
Can Leo allow the demons that have haunted him for so long become a part of his present?
Can Leo protect Juliette from the monsters that are lurking, waiting to make their next move?

Can Juliette ever get Leo to open up?
Once the truth is uncovered, can Juliette still be with Leo?
How can Juliette stay safe?
Can she ever trust Leo again, or will this be their ending?
Or more to the point could the monsters that are lurking be both Leo and Juliette’s ultimate destruction?

Sorry guys you are just going to have to read Impact to find out.

‘Cowards never start, the weak never finish and winners never quit’

Omg people….You all need to read this amazing novel.
From start to finish we were captivated, held hostage, we couldn’t put it down.
We were completely memorised.
Again we were taken on an emotional roller coaster ride. We laughed, we cried, we held our breath.
We absolutely fell in love all over again with Juliette and her strength and determination to fight, to stay strong when she needed too and her love and warmth.
We fell head over heels in love again with Leo and his strength and courage, his vulnerability, and his purpose to protect and love.
And the sex…It has us panting, it was mouth watering delicious!!

KA Sterritt has yet again produced an absolute phenomenal read with Impact. It had us second guessing ourselves, never once was anything predictable. It was written with such emotion, depth and detail it almost felt as though we were right there with both Juliette and Leo. We could physically feel their fear, their struggles, their warmth, their love.
Such a confronting and powerful read, it left us speechless.

If we could rate this novel higher than five stars, believe us we would. Impact will be that novel that will stay with us for quite some time and we know that it will stay with every reader. It’s a MUST read guys.

A definite 5 star read.

Impact is finally here. Picking up from exactly where Collision ended, K.A. Sterritt dives straight into the crux of the cliffhanger that left readers with wide eyes and open mouths. Slowly unraveling the big secret between Juliette and Leo, Impact is the heartfelt exploration of the fear of loss and fear of love. Filled with adrenaline, mystery and suspense, K.A. Sterritt writes of a love that is determined to shine amongst all the darkness.

With Juliette and Leo reuniting after some time apart, a visit to address Juliette and her mother’s issues is the catalyst for what follows. With a damning revelation hovering over their relationship, it seems a smooth transition back into the land of lovers isn’t on the cards. Dealing with unresolved issues of the past and unpredictable circumstances in their future Leo and Juliette struggle to find balance and normalcy.

As the story continues to unfold around and in the fighting ring, Leo and Juliette are metaphorically up against a worthy opponent. With family, insecurities and secrets set to destroy, readers will be worried that a separation is imminent. Determination and Persistence, rising above all, through Leo and Juliette K.A. Sterritt shows off the very essence of what fighting for life means.

Impact is a gripping and fulfilling conclusion to the Fight For Life Series. Where Collision basked in the connection between Leo and Juliette, Impact showed off the life altering effects of a bond so fierce, it becomes unbreakable. With twists and turns that you didn’t see coming, every page brings about a mixture, of shock, fear and relief. As Leo and Juliette show off their tenacious love story, Sterritt’s writing effortlessly captures your heart. Honest and authentic this series is everything you want in a love story.

I was lucky enough to be given an ARC of impact by K.A. Sterrit for an honest review and was not disappointed. Impact is the second book in the Fight for Life series and should be read after the first book Collision. The story had a number of twists and turns in it that left me in shock. However, each of these twists and turns in the story I loved and showed the growth that both character has gone through. Leo was consumed with anger and pain from a past event that he keeps to himself. He chose to fight as a way to release the anger that he has. Juliette was stuck in a life that she was not happy with and was controlled by her mother. She chose to take part in adrenaline activities as a way to make her happy. Throughout collision she slowly started to realise that she wanted to be happy with her life and she slowly started to move away from her mothers controlling ways. Collision finished on a cliffhanger that made me want more and was happy that Impact started from where Collision had ended. At the end of Collision I had a number of questions that I hoped would get answered in impact. From the first page of the story I could not put it down. The story between Leo and Jules continued in this compelling story and revolved around the growing relationship between the two. K.A. Sterrit done it again with this new book and made me fall in love with the characters even more. I loved the characters in the book and I loved the story. I would definitely recommend it to people and loved the way that the story was told throughout the series.

Wow! Book 2 in the Fight for Life series by KA Sterritt does not disappoint, and sees Jules returning from her European getaway straight back into Leo's arms, thank goodness. However, it's not all moonlight and roses, there are even more hurdles to jump in order for them to finally get their HEA. Question is, can they learn to trust each other and make it work? This book answers so many questions that both Juliette and myself had following Collision. We have all the same characters, plus a few more, including an even more annoying evil mother. A rollercoaster ride of feelings and emotions, with intrigue thrown in, ooh and don't forget the super hot chemistry between Jules and Leo. Beautifully written, highly recommended read. Impact is not a standalone and book 1, Collision, should be read first.

Impact is the sequel to Collision so once again we meet Leo and Juliette. The book starts exactly where Collision finished on the cliffhanger (which incidentally left me shouting at Kate and wanting to throw my kindle across the room!).
More is revealed about Leo's background and the story behind his house, but as much as Jules wants to know even more, Leo is still reluctant to tell her the whole story. Meanwhile, Jules finds out more about her mother's background and becomes even stronger because of it.

Leo and Jules love story continues in this beautiful book, filled with more fights, hot sex, a maybe temptation for Jules, and a twist at the end that I did not see coming.

K A Sterritt has written another wonderful book that I loved. I hope she has more up her sleeve!

After reading Collision, I could not wait to read Impact, I had such high hopes for this book, and my oh my KA Sterritt has smashed it!

Win Impact, we discover Leo's secrets and how they effect his relationship with Juliette. This book lives up to its name, with full emotional IMPACT, angst, shocks, and a gripping, simply brilliant conclusion.

5 truly deserved stars, terrific read.
