Soon after Kate arrived at Whitesands, she found herself threatened by a secret from the past. Why had Philip Leavengate's wife fallen to her death last year? What connection had the dead woman's cousin with the sinister house-keeper? Why were both of them so frightened of a seemingly innocent young boy who came visiting? Determined to unravel the shadowy mystery, Kate found her new love - and her life itself - in deadly peril.
So ... that's what a Gothic romance is like. Interesting. Um. Well, I finished it. I wanted to dropkick the three main-most characters on a regular basis, the children were nothing but cardboard cutouts, it's possible that the housekeeper was the most interesting character in the whole book but we end it still knowing almost nothing about her. SO MANY LOOSE ENDS. What on earth ever happened with the cow milking experiment??? Aaarrrg.
