This is the third book in "The Secret Shifters of Spokane" series, and can be read as a standalone as it has no cliffhangers, but the series is best enjoyed when read in order. "The Secret Shifters of Spokane" is the story of the Malashovik family who emigrated from Belarus to America to escape political unrest, and who hold a deep family secret, resulting in the closeness and support the four brothers feel for each other. Join them as they fight against all odds for their true mates. Each book in the series, is beautifully tied to the next one. *** *** *** ***
When one night of passion becomes something neither of them could have ever predicted
Ivy Greene is a strong, confident single mother who, honestly, doesn’t need any help. She’s got this. All except for one thing. Her five-year-old son, Lincoln, has a terrible secret that she’s determined to keep until the day she dies. She’d do anything for her son. Including travelling to Spokane to search for more information about people like her son. While she’s there, she crosses paths with someone who was supposed to be a one-night stand. Little did she know, he’s playing for keeps.
Maxim Malashovik is the oldest of four boys. He’s fun loving, kind, thoughtful, and, oh yeah, a bear shifter. There’s nothing he wouldn’t do for the people he loves. And suddenly, inexplicably, he finds he has to add a person to that list after just one night with her.
Why couldn’t he have fallen for somebody who wanted him back? Or even left her number after their one-night stand…
Note: The story contains strong sexual themes/language and is not intended for readers under the age of 18.
Loved how once again this family pull together. Another enjoyable read with this family of bear shifters but it didn’t grab me like the first two due to my personal dislike of the heroines behaviour. Maxim was also a bit of a manwhore too which is how he met up with Ivy. At least Maxim realised what Ivy was to him and was just one big sweetheart towards Linc who was the star of this book for me. I was not real keen on Ivy’s behaviour, that of getting a sitter for her young son so she can go pick up and have sex with a stranger. Then also at one point later on when she talks about Lincs father so badly. This is not the type of heroine that I like. Also why did they not kill Lana when they had the chance, again. So stupid.
Great shifter series. This series is all about a family where the men are bear shifters. Slowly each son has found the one woman for each of them. This time Maxim is being hooked by love. But he can't seem to keep her. But this is a romance with a HEA. Can't wait for the last brother to finally claim m his woman.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of the book.
Because I can already smell how good you'll taste here. And I am hungry for you. Holy Mother Nature. “You’re a - oh my God - a bear. Man bear. Bear man. You’re a man who is a bear. What in the *BEEP* is going on here? HOLY MOTHER NATURE IS RIGHT!!! This is such a FURNOMENAL story!! Okay, every single one of them is a SHIFTACULAR book and this one continues that PAWFECTLY!!!!! Knowing Maxim a bit from the other books in no way prepared me for REALLY knowing him, so I can TOTALLY sympathize with Ivy on that one! But who knew I would fall for ALL of them THIS HARD!!! Once again, Selena has let me in to peek into her window and get a glimpse of her life, because that is exactly what it feels like! Her characters are so real, their lives so "normal" excepting the bear shifter part, but even that feels normal & right! Her writing is fresh, hilarious, touching, and completely surrounds me, absorbing me into the story as deep as is possible without actually, really being there to see, hear, live, experience it all in person! I definitely felt it all as if I was there though! I bawled more times I could count - happy & sad tears! But I dare you to read this and NOT get attached to little Linc! He's so BEARY adorable!! I love how authentically Belarusian it is too! In fact sometimes it cracks me up how they want to say something but can't find the English words for it! Selena has very quickly become one of my favorite authors! With her ability to write every book differently, in a unique style that perfectly portrays each character's own personality & style, the way I keep thinking about it long after I finish it, the way I laugh, cry, fret, worry, anger, care & love all of the characters, the way their story becomes mine, the way I become the characters & their story, all shouts loudly at just how incredibly talented Selena is, as well as how truly, exceptionally gifted she is!! It is a true BEARRIAGE of ALL Things GRRRREAT & small, HOT & naughty, heart-breaking & heart-melting! Hey there, Andre. I am not called Andre. I am called Maxim. But I do not mind what you call me, Ariel. I respond to many names. Like ‘oh God’, ‘more’, ‘yes’, ‘just like that’, ‘Jesus-yes-don’t-stop’. Da! DOUBLE DA!
Terrific Story & Narration🎧 I’m Loving These Shifters!
Maxim’s Mate An Alpha Bear Shifter Romance (Secret Shifters of Spokane, Book 3) By: Selena Scott Narrated by: Craig A. Hart, HotGhost Productions
I am loving this series, the storylines and characters are awesome. Selena Scott’s writing is perfection, the story flows naturally, they grab your attention right from the start and holds it straight to the end. The characters are likable and easy to relate to. This third book of the series is Maxim story, he the eldest Malsahovik son, also a swoon worthy alpha bear shifter, one with big heart. He is a firefighter and is a hit with the ladies. But there is one girl that he can not get off of his mind, the one that got away. That is until he sees her again while on a call for an accident. Ivy Greene, a single mother of a young boy, a boy she will do anything for, which including trying to find information and help for her son’s condition. Maxim arrives on the scene of the accident to find the woman who had been occupying her mind, he rescues her son and gets them both to safety. I adored her son Linc, also adored how Maxim and his family was with him. It took Ivy awhile but she finally got with the program, that Maxim was her and she was his. The Navuka storyline continues in this book bringing in more drama, action and thrilling and suspenseful moments, more info is revealed about what they are up to and what they want and who is behind it. Once again the Malsahovik brothers come to the rescue. I loved how everything plays out in this book, there is never a dull moment, in addition to the the Navuka drama there is some relationship drama, angst, heartfelt moments and another great romance. Selena Scott, thank you for another awesome story and emotional rollercoaster ride.
I listened to the Audible edition, Craig A. Hart is a fabulous narrator and voice artist. He brings the characters to life, giving each their own voice and personality, which makes it easy to follow the story. You could hear how much heart he puts into his work as he humanizes the characters and captures their emotions which is reflected and heard in his performance. He is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another terrific listen🎧
Ivy Greene came to the bar that night to find a warm male body. Maxim pulled up a barstool and sat down to chat with her. When he walked away to help the bartender with a beer keg, she grabbed his phone to copy the phone number of the famous investigative journalist, Pandora Katsaros, which she would need later. Then she and Max spent some quality time at his place. Now she would be able to help Linc – this was all for Linc. She quietly got up and left while Max was sleeping.
For six months, Max can’t get his mind off the woman he had been with. But fate intervened when he responded to a traffic accident as one of the firefighters and rescued Ivy and her 5-year-old son, Linc! Once more, she disappeared – but she and Linc came back to thank Max for saving their lives. Would she stay this time? Would she give them a chance?
This was a wonderful book, just like the others in this series. The entire Malashovik family is so filled with love and caring for one another. You can’t help but love them back. And while the reader is following the scorching chemistry between Maxim and Ivy, there is also the danger and suspense from the agents of Navuka who were still tracking Anton to drag him back to their hated facility. Would Linc also be put into danger when his secret is out? Don’t pass this book by – it’s a wonderful story line you won’t want to miss!
Another excellent book in the 'Secret Shifters of Spokane' series! Ivy Greene isn't looking for any long-term relationship. She needs to protect herself and her son from the pain of love lost or betrayed. Maxim Malashovik, however quickly realizes that Ivy is the One for him. He's got his work cut out for him, though, with Ivy. Ivy certainly puts up a fight, resisting Maxim, but these Malashovik boys are relentless when they've made up their mind. Maxim, most of all. I love these characters! Ivy, for being so protective of her son, Linc. Maxim, for being super protective of all those he loves - Ivy and Linc in particular - yet not smothering. The agents for Navuka are still watching, however; looking for a way to retrieve those they lost. Never turn your back on this evil! This is scary stuff, but get these Malashoviks riled up and they're a force to be reckoned with! A superb book with an awesome ending! One more brother to go...I'm eagerly waiting for it!
Ivy just wanted a one-night stand, but oh man what a man! 6 months have gone by and I still can't forget that wild night it's hiding in the back of my head. So when I move to Spokane and my sweet little boy is rescued by a first responder, I am flabbergasted by what I see. It's him and he knows what no one should? Ivy is not ready to give her heart to anyone, but her son Linc.
Maxim is the oldest of the 4 Malashovik brothers who emigrated from Belarus to the States with their parents fleeing the unrest against shifters. Now Maxim sees that beautiful mermaid he has never forgotten since that one night, so much so, that he hasn't been with another, but she's not alone, she apparently is a mother to a little cub. Can Maxim save the cub from the same evil that hurt his brother Anton?
Lots of mystery, family togetherness, intrigue and hot passion.
This is the 3rd book in the installment, it’s not my favorite but still a great addition to the series. This book centers on Maxim and Ivy. I like how the point of view changes between all the characters, not just the main two. It is a seamless transition and I love being able to follow the previous couples so closely. I took off a star because there were grammar errors and I felt that Ivy flipped randomly and to fast. I would recommend this series and that you start at book 1. Even thought each book can be read as a stand-alone book. I have to pick up the next and most anticipated book of the series!
Ivy is not looking for a relationship, but one hot night full action with Maxim is a hot bonus when she comes to Spokane searching for answers for her son.
Maxim can't stop thinking about her after she walked away without a sign, but now she is back with her son. And being close to him brings her son in danger, without them knowing about it first. I like the way Maxim is taking care of Lync and also of Ivy. Ivy is used to do things all by herself, but she can't ignore Maxim and what he makes her feel next to all the hot and steamy moments together she starts to have feelings for him.
Maxim's Mate is an excellent addition to the Secret Shifters of Spokane series. Selena Scott has created an appealing paranormal world with charming characters. Maxim and Ivy are fabulous together, and their chemistry is off the charts.
Outstanding narration by Craig A. Hart. He does a splendid job portraying the characters' personalities and emotions, bringing them to life. This was a highly entertaining listen and, I strongly recommend it. I was given a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review.
With half the brothers mated, Maxim didn't expect to be next. However, a one night stand is back with a secret. When Maxim helps her son he is close to winning her heart. The second time he does it she is willing to try for more. But after they are kidnapped by Navuka, Maxim calls in the whole family to try to save them. I love Maxim's parents! They are so loving and patient. I LOVE this series and am on pins and needles waiting for Antone's story. Don't miss these fierce and loving men and their mates.
Everyone is at the bar again, Maxim's decides he would pick up a women. Ivy is sitting at the bar thing of jus a one night stand. Ivy also wants to talk to Dora who was at the table with Maxim, so when Maxim helps out the bartender, she takes his phone to get her number. They don't see each other for 6 months, but then there's and accident and Maxim's saves her an Linc. Will the sparks fly again? Will Maxim help Ivy with Linc's condition? I received an arc copy for my honest review.
I absolutely love this book, I especially love reading about shifters. Books like this , help me and others escape the real world and sometimes you just need a small break from reality. Sometimes I get really stressed out and have bad anxiety, when I read books like this one I can shift my focus and forget my problems , thank you very much for letting me read this book I enjoyed reading it very much!! Lived it!!!!
Another good series by this author. This one is all based on a family of bear shifters. Loving family with some tragic experiments on one of the men which carries its weight in regret, rage and broken down relationships. Throughout the books the family are interval to each story - so if reading separately, will defo need to read in order.
Maxim’s Mate was a great story. Ms. Scott did a great job of mimicking the Belarusian accent. I could hear them talking with that accent in my head. I could feel the h’s angst and her revaluation. Well written with no grammatical errors. Maximus and Ivy’s story ended at the 60% mark. That’s the only reason I didn’t give it a five star rating.
“my son is a shifter & now you are going to help him be comfortable with shifting because i’m not a shifter” trope>>>> y’all this slaps everytime istg. maxim & lincoln’s relationship is so cute, and i love that about single parent romances. the ongoing plot in this series is intriguing & i had fun reading!
This is a delightful story about family love and loyalty, new beginnings and understanding. Full of love, joy and happiness. Such believable characters and a great plot. I read it in one take from beginning to the end. Just couldn't put it down. Ready for book #2. Well done!
I'm ready for them to stop Navuka already. Every time they come after one of them someone gets hurt. I knew Ivy and Linc were going to be in danger when they left. It was the perfect opportunity for crazy Lana to take them.
ARC review/audible For honest review. Ivy Greene has a 5 yr old son linoln and travels to Spokane to search for people like her son while there S she meets maxim malashovik a fireman and bear shifter . This was a awesome story of family .
This was such a good story. I know I'm starting with book 3 and really would love to read the others in thus series. Great characters that I'd live to hear more of. I would definitely recommend these bears! Happy reading!
These bears are so loveable. They all have such big hearts. Good level of action. Great characters with lots of chemistry. Fantastic performance from Craig.
The third book in the Secret Shifters of Spokane did not disappoint. Once I downloaded it I had to read it to see what craziness Maxim gets into. Maxim and Ivy's story made me laugh and sigh. The rest of Maxim's family show up in the book for dinner and visits. Nice to check in on them. I love this series. The writing is superb and the story so good that time flew and I had finished the book. Bummer! OK then I went back and reread my favorite parts. Well worth reading.
