The Grapple

Rate this book

The Zin had watched, silently. They had planned, thoroughly. They had prepared, relentlessly. They came by surprise. Theirs was a very feline plan.

It failed.

And so the sudden, victorious leap became a desperate grapple. A savage struggle without rules, the outcome of which loomed increasingly uncertain...

About the author

Moshe Ben-Or

Moshe Ben-Or has lived a colorful life, one well suited to becoming a writer. Much of said life has involved that which is termed "adventure" in retrospect, but at the time mostly boils down to being stuck up crap creek without a paddle. None of the details matter, in the grand scheme of things.

Not for the faint hearted

If you think guns are bad, this book will blow your mind.
If you think men and women are equal in all things, this book will break you.
If you are a devout Christian, this is gonna hurt.

If you like a challenging SF book in the spirit of Tom Kratman or John Ringo or Micheal Z Williamson,...enjoy the ride.

A word of caution: even when this novel doesn’t revolve around Jews it uses Jewish writing style. There were times I skipped a paragraph or two because it was restating the same idea for the Nth time.

I liked it. I read it in KU, but I am going to buy it now.

It could be a little tighter, a bit better focused. I also struggled identifying new characters, as I am unfamiliar with the naming conventions.

A few grammatical errors.

very disappointing

Unfortunately book two was a disappointing read.
It rambled on to the extent I started to speed read and then turn the pages at speed.
The author didn’t get on with the story, and rambled on for many pages on the same topic.
No more for me

So this series started out interesting & I read all there was of it, even though the books became more & more repugnant as the series wore on. I am waiting for the book that will finish this series & hopefully have all the bad guys (of which there were many, even in the supposed 'good' side) get the punishments they richly deserve. So far, after putting out these 3 books with horrific events galore, the author has gone silent. This is making me regret buying any of them, never mind, all of them... I'd say to anyone who is looking into this, to wait and see if more is forthcoming. If not, then it's definitely a bad idea to buy this unfinished story. If there is, might want to wait for somebody to indicated if plowing through all the vileness is worth it in the end.

If you like books about violent rape, you’ll love this series. If you like books about rampant pedophilia, you’ll love this series. If you like books that are filled with superfluous filler, you’ll love this series. In the series the author creates a religion where the followers worship a goddess. The adherents of this religion refer to Christianity’s central figure as “corpse on a stick” and “zombie” but never disparage Judaism’s central figure. The author fills pages and pages with one of the main characters going on and on ad nauseam about the goddess. The author is overly verbose throughout the series, which I didn’t finish, as though he’s being paid by the word. Somewhere is this series, buried within the rape, pedophilia, and unnecessary filler, is a pretty good book. There are space battles, land battles, special ops, cool science fiction stuff and likeable characters.
