The exciting prequel to Rebecca Rivard's Fada Shapeshifters series
USA Today bestselling author Rebecca Rivard read way too many romances as a teenager, little realizing she was actually preparing for a career. She now spends her days with vampires, shifters, fae and other magical creatures, which has to be the best job ever.
InD'Tale Magazine calls her work "steamy, spellbinding romance with phenomenal pacing," and the Paranormal Romance Guild named her Vampire Syndicate Series a "must read." Her stories have won multiple awards including the prestigious PRISM, the RONE, and the Paranormal Romance Guild Reviewers' Choice Award.
If you crave steamy, emotionally charged romance between dangerous men and the women they'd raze cities to possess, Rebecca's books are for you. HEA guaranteed.
Having the gift of sight as a Seer should be priceless thing, but what if your gift was erratic and not always trustworthy? Ula is an Irish shifter and her Gift is a source of pain and shame. Better that she should keep it hidden than expose her “weakness.” Little did she know she would become part of history when a Portuguese mercenary comes to Ireland under the employ of the Fae. Sometimes Fate has a way of meddling in the best laid plans and history will be made!
Nisio is attracted to the daughter of a powerful alpha, and enjoying the warm welcome form the shifters he is to betray actually awakens a long dead conscience in this powerful and deadly shifter. The last thing he needs is to want Ula and their attraction can bring nothing but trouble. How is it Ula is the only one feeling that Nisio has an unspoken agenda? Is it her gift or is it something more magical? Can she resist the pull his handsome features, alpha nature and sweet accent presents? Nisio has never failed on a mission, but he may have finally been bested by the heart of a beautiful woman who is stealing his soul and his heart. But what of his own people? What will failure mean to them?
The King of the Fae will not accept failure and he is determined to punish Nisio and Ula with deadly measures. Will Ula’s Gift finally ring true? Do Ula and Nisio have a future together as mates? First they must survive and learn that trust and love is the most powerful magic in the world.
Rebecca Rivard’s STEALING ULA is a trip into the past, where her series all began. Two strong characters stand against all who would oppose their union, one innocent, one infamous. The heated passion they feel is electric, as Ms. Rivard gives us the backbone of her Fada Shapeshifter Series with characters we needed to know and hopefully will hear from again. Nothing like a trip into the past to further enjoy the present and future of this series!

This was my first Fada shifter book, and I wasn't sure what to expect. I was drawn right into it though. Ula is the Alpha's daughter and a Seer as well. It is a Gift that she feels is more like a curse and the hides from it. Nisio is a traveler visiting her families Clan, but there is something more going on with him. Nisio was is on a mission for the Ice Fae King, and is supposed to dance with the Lady of the Sun Fae, but all his thoughts keep coming back to Ula. Things go really wrong and some how the key to freeing them is her learning to trust in the Gift she has always feared/hated.
I really enjoyed this and look forward to reading others in this series. Loved the ending so much!!
Stealing Ula: A Fada Shapeshifter Prequel The Fada Shapeshifters Book 0 by Rebecca Rivard ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ WOW! Stealing Ula: A Fada Shapeshifter is so amazing! Rebecca Rivard has creates a great amazing historical paranormal story. It's action filled, fast paced, that will hook you immediately. There is a sizzling chemistry between Nisio and Ula, Nisio is a intriguingly, tall, dark, sexy and gorgeous assassin and Ula is a captivating beautiful seer. I read this book thru the night, I didn't want to stop reading until I finish it. It's the kind of book that you will find hard to put down. This is book that tells how Dino's parents Nisio and Ula met, Dionisio Do Rio is known as Nisio is a Douro Fada from Portugal one of the deadliest Fada, they are infamous trackers and assassins. Nisio is trying to earn silver for his family because they are poor and in need. Ula Gallagan daughter of the Alpha who is allowing Nisio to stay with them. Nisio try's to resist Ula no matter what she try's to get him to do. But when they are thrown together and must find their way out of a magical labrynth that will either kill them, or bring them closer together. Then Ula gets a vision of their son and what he will be able to do!
This story has kept me glued to the book. There is so much sizzling chemistry, it will have you wanting to read the next book in the series. While the storyline is a compelling read, its still has lots of twists, turns and may be enjoyed and placed on your TBR list. It's so very entertaining and historical. I recommend this book. I voluntarily wrote this review of this book which was gifted to me by Rebecca Rivard with no obligation from myself.
If you believe in the world of paranormal romance, the possibilities are endless and fascinating!
This is the story about how it all started, how Dino's parents Nisio and Ula met, quite the entertaning and intriguing story too. If you've read "Seducing the Sun Fae", then you will read where Dino get's all his good looks and everything else he is, who wouldn't with parents like that.
Dionisio Do Rio better known to all as Nisio is a Douro Fada from Portugal one of the deadliest Fada, they are infamous trackers and assassins. Nisio travels to far away Ireland to earn much needed silver for his people in Portugal, he only has to kidnap someone, an easy enough job. Problem is he doesn't feel right about abusing the hospitality he has been given at the Shannon Estuary nor the fact that he cannot see himself in the arms of any other, but the daughter of the Alpha. How can he not go through with it though, so many are counting on him back home. Will he be able to resist Ula, or go against all he has been raised to do?
Ula Gallagan daughter of the Alpha is frowned upon by many because of her iffy sight, but not Nisio, he believes in her sight. She is besotten from the first day she lay eyes on the latin man and she has fought with herself over it he is a sweet talking danger with that accent of his, but lost and is set on conquering him if only for one night. Problem is he has only kissed her and won't let it go any farther, no matter what she throws his way.
They are thrown together and must find their way out of a magical labrynth that will either kill them, or bring them closer. Ula sees a future and a son that will do the unthinkable!
We finally get to see how this amazing paranormal series began. I loved learning what happened and how everything tied together. There were new and different characters that made me wonder if somewhere they'll make an appearance or somehow tie in further into the series. I enjoyed both Ula and Nisio's characters. They were both strong and sexy. The chemistry and trust between the two was so real and lifelike. The story was paced well and I couldn't put it down. I loved the suspense, danger and of course the romance. If you've read the other books in the Fada Shapshifter series I definitely recommend this and even if you haven't but love alpha males and sexy paranormal stories I recommend starting this as well. I voluntarily reviewed an arc from the author.
This standalone prequel takes place in Ireland during the potato famine. It features Ula Gallagan, the youngest child and only daughter of the aquatic fada Shannon River clan's alpha. Born with the gift of the Sight, she is untrained and guilt ridden over the death of her mother, whose death she foresaw as a young teen, yet was powerless to prevent.
Dionysus do Rio is the third son of the Portuguese Douro fada alpha, a mercenary and assassin. He is staying in Shannon under the rules of hospitality, but under false pretenses. He has been hired by the ice fae king Sindre to kidnap a powerful ally of the fada, a job that will take careful planning and timing. A job that could easily end up taking his life, either by the fada he is betraying or by the mercurial fae who hired him. And the reality of his situation falls into place just as he realizes the alpha's daughter is very likely his mate.
I am a huge fan of Rebecca Rivard sizzling creativity and have enjoyed her previous novels immensly. Since this particular novella is a prequel you do not need to read the other books first but if you had, you do get to see how Dion (from Seducing the Sun Fae) gets his "swag."
Rebecca Rivard has managed to manipulate the shifter sub-genre in a fantastic mix of water mammals and the fae!! And we all know how I love the fae and shifters!! Stealing Ula is a seductive mix of mystery, intrigue and heart pounding action (wink.)
If you are a fan of paranormal romance, new to Rebecca Rivard, than this is a quick read and perfect introduction to her series!
4 Stars and a tip of my Nerd Girl hat!!

Leave it to me to read the first book last, but hay it all seem to work out in the end. It didn't make any difference in the reading order. This was a very exciting book to read and it always kept you guessing. You have the good guys and the bad guys and sometimes those lines get crossed or even reversed. It never seems to matter what type of shifter book you read, the males are always trying to fight the bonding, thinking their women are better off then them.
Reading this book you can feel Nisio's inner fight to want to love Up a and protect her. You can feel their story building from the first page and each page after. You will love this story, along with all the others.
*I was given this by the author in exchange for an honest review.*
"Stealing Ula" is a novel that took me by surprise. In many ways, it is just like many other erotic paranormal romances I have read-an easy read, the love interests in opposition to each other, the typical unrelenting passion, typical character archetypes, and the like. With so many cliches, I thought I would close the novel dissatisfied. However, at the end of this book, I found myself wanting more.
There are several reasons this book is the start of a series-buy for me. As said previously, this paranormal romance had some of the usual cliches. However, it is in the differences I found myself wanting more. First, let's address the main female protagonist Ula.
Ula definitely falls more into the traditional female heroine category. I would even go as far as to call her a damsel in distress. Being a modern day woman, a millennial, I'm used to reading and can more easily relate to the badass female who doesn't bow down for anyone. I'm used to Buffy and Xena but I was given Guinevere. This more traditional female character threw me for a loop in the beginning.
In so many ways, Ula wanted to take her fate into her hands; she wanted to be dominant, a leader, and take charge of her own agenda. However, she would always fall back into her submissive ways. Even with her love interest, Nisio, I wondered why she was interested in considering the striking similarities he had to her brother and father. All three men were overly dominant and possessive, though admittedly not to the point where I would call the relationship abusive. Also, I did notice that Nisio had more faith in Ula than her family which would make him more attractive.
Still, the fact that Ula had to rely on Nisio to build confidence in her ability, frustrated me a little. With that said, why did I end the novel wishing Ula and I could be best friends?
The first step was acceptance. I tried to look at the novel from a more realistic perspective. Of course, it is a paranormal read, so you can only be so realistic. But I stopped to consider the time period the story was taken place in (think Vikings from history channel, like some time in the AD) and then reflected on how long it took human women to make progress in society. Simply put, Ula was more likely to be the relatively submissive character she was. Would I have liked a more rebellious heroine? Yes but Ula was more realistic for that time period and had her own little spunk that was admirable.
The story also had several twists and turns that I was not expecting. It was like obstacle after obstacle and just when I thought the story was going to end, there was another battle to be fought. Yes, this is a romance novel but the plot kept me looking over my shoulder wondering when the big fight scene was going to come. Additionally, the "boom-boom" scenes did cause me to catch a hitch in my breath and so, they were obviously well written.
I also liked that the author went with less typical shifter animals. No werewolves, cheetahs, or anything like that but marine life which, aside from sharks, are viewed as less aggressive (they shifted into dolphins often) and you don't often see them in shifter stories. That was cool. The author also deviated from the traditional folklore/legend to create a story with many unique origins such as the origins of the first fadas.
All in all, I would read this novel again and can't wait to read the other books in the series. When you start to imagine yourself in your character's world and begin to wish you could know them more, you know the author has snagged you.
Not now. Not ever. He was stealing Ula Gallagan. he was caught between the devil and the deep blue sea. holy blue seas!! What a FINTASTIC story!! I fell so deep in love with Ula & Nisio!! I was soooooo disappointed when I got to The End! Not because of how it ended but because it did!! Rebecca worked her magic so well I can't help but think that Rebecca is in fact a Fae! wink Right from the start I was entranced, sunk very deep into the story to the point that I felt like I was there, that I lived it with Ula! Of course with Rebecca's lush descriptions, multidimensional characters and perfectly detailed scenes, background & histories, it's impossible to NOT fall under her spell! I ABSO-SHIFTING-LUTELY love, Love, LOVE this story so much!!! From Ula to Nisio (who doesn't love the bad boy!?), from Gemma to those OTTERLY adorable little twins - Willie & Mike! Then there's these amazing plots & storylines that weave such a beautiful & heartfelt romance in & around the ones of mystery, secrets, subterfuge, betrayal and more! Rebecca is one phenomenally talented author who is also blessed with a true and genuine gift for crafting these uniquely beautiful, enriched stories that have this level of depth & this quality to them like no other! Of course, being able to connect to the characters and live & experience it all with these sexy shapeshifters, turns these Fada Romance books into magical Happy Ever After Furry Tails that I cannot put down, that I hope never end, and that I cannot get enough of!!! “I promise, this is only the start.” But hadn’t she wished for adventure? Here it was…
Nisio is hired by the Ice Fae King to poison Lady Isleen and kidnapp her and bring her to the king. So Nisio befriends Chas Gallagan, Alpha of the Shannon clan and Ula's Da. To carry out this mission, Nisio has to fit in and be some what trusted by Chas. What Nisio didn't bank on, was falling for his only daughter, Ula. Ula is a Seer and nobody has taught her how to use her gift. When she was 12, saw her Mam's death and couldn't predict when and where, so she blames herself for her Mam's death. But as Ula is drawn to Nisio and he to her, he helps her to see that her gift is good and she just needs guidance to learn how to use it. The Ice King teleports Ula and Nisio to some where to be punished for Nisio breaking his contract with the Ice King. Ula wasn't suppose to be there, but she held onto Nisio and they both went. The Ice King surrounded them with a thick dark grey fog and told them if they can find their way home, the contract is broken, other wise they are his slaves. No problem, they will swim home. The only problem is that the fog takes away all their senses and they need them to find their way. Nisio encourages Ula to use her gift. Rebecca Rivard is a new author to me. I have to say, she sure knows how to write a fantasy romance with very good taste. I really enjoyed this book and would like to get the rest of the series. She had me wanting more with all the surprises, sweet love scenes and mystery. There are parts that I didn't see coming at all. This was a really good book!
As always, Rivard delivers another amazing story filled with fantastic mythological creatures and characters, a heart touching love story that has you rooting for the couple, and an interesting storyline to add to it all.
As someone who has been following this story from the very beginning, this was an absolute delight to read. Sometimes no explanation is needed for how a world is the way it is or how things came to be, but prequels are always welcome. As such, it added so much more to the series already. Good or bad, faults or now, it’s hard not to appreciate or enjoy Rivard’s characters. It’s even more difficult not to root for their happy ending.
I will forever and always enjoy this story. It’s a series that just keeps growing, both in volumes and in my heart. With each new installment, I fall in love just a little more. I can’t wait to read what Rivard has for us in the future.
Omg! I devoured this book when I was able to read, and totally irritated when my real life got in the way :o lol ... I was captivated from the start, and then left craving more at the end! This author knows how to write a uniquely different story in a fantasy world of PNR fiction with Shifters & Fae plus magic and more! Well defined relatable characters (and some smoking hot scenes) with awesome, vivid descriptions make this a page-turning must read for all fans of fiction! Even tho I volunteered to read this, I also pre-ordered my own copy to keep, so yes I highly recommend this & any book by Ms. Rivard!
A love story of fae, fada (shifters) and magic. Ula and Nisio are fada that can change into water animals, but most times they shift as dolphins. Nisio is from Portugal and is visiting Ula's clan in Ireland. Passing as a a traveler, he has a more dubious plan. A plan that is changed by Ula. The heat each feels for the other may drive them to do wrong things, but love is anyone's fool. But don't forget the fae in the story. They may kill or save the two.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of the book.
Ula has a gift of sight but it is anything but reliable by any means. She is very much taken with the dangerous stranger Nisio. Nisio will do just about anything for money but when it comes to Ula all bets are off and now the pair are in a dangerous situation for their lives and they might not survive.
I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book. This is book .5 of The Fada Shapeshifters Series by the author.
Stealing Ula is an exciting story about fada and fae. When Nisio do Rio, the Portuguese fada, appears at Ula's clan home in Ireland, he is not there for the reason he gives. He is an assassin for his clan, Ula has clear instructions to stay clear of him. She is the daughter of the leader of her clan so she is watched closely. Yet, she feels pulled toward his handsome strength. In this hot, steamy story, the reader is taken along into the fantastic world where love is sexy and deep.
Absolutely loved this book. This is the story of Nisio and Ula and eventually there sons Dion and Tiago do Rio, we also have some mention of Isleen and Lir it's great to see how everyone first met and how the books continue into a fabulous series for The Fada Shape-shifter I love this author and love all her books and cannot wait to read more Thank You Rebecca X
I have been provided with a review copy of Stealing Ula from the author and I am voluntarily leaving an impartial review. This is a prequel to The Fada Shapeshifter series and this was just a great way to start off a new series. I really enjoyed this introduction into this new world and getting to meet all these new characters. I’ve read shifter series before but never dolphin shifters and I was just pleasantly surprised with how much I liked them. I was just drawn into this story and I just didn’t want it to end. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
This fast-paced, action-packed paranormal romance hooked me immediately, kept me glued to the book and on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. I loved the sizzling chemistry and intriguing romantic adventure shared by tall, dark and sexy tracker/assassin Nisio and beautiful seer Ula. This prequel to the Fada series was amazing! Nisio and Ula's story was everything I wanted and more. Holy cow, they just sizzled off of the page to me. Great read, recommended to anyone who like fantasy and paranormal romance! This series is such a fresh take on the shifter subgenre, it's so much more unique than most of the genre out now.
