Then Came Wanda... With A Baby Carriage

Rate this book
There’s almost nothing Wanda Jefferson wants more than a family to call her own, and she’s almost got it all with her husband Heath, a beautiful home in the suburbs, and her soul-satisfying work with her best friends as part of OOPS—a paranormal crisis hotline.

Yet still, there’s a tiny hole in Wanda’s heart she longs to fill with a baby. As she and Heath explore adoption, and finally bring home a beautiful baby boy with the support of their friends and family, everything that can go wrong, does.

First, no one, not even Nina the baby-loving vampire, can soothe the cranky infant. He’s cries constantly, bringing Wanda’s insecurities as a new mother out in full force. Then banshee, Sal Brice and sexy skinwalker, Grey Hamlin show up, and yikes, do they have a tale to tell—one that involves a diabolical plan that threatens Wanda’s newly formed family!

You know what that means, right? Hell hath no fury like the OOPS women on a case!

Every time I think I've figured Ms. Cassidy out, she pulls out another surprise and makes my day. This book touches on the Accidentals we know and love...Their core values, humor, love and integrity while also combining a few tips of the hat to things pertinent in today's society... But with HUMOR. I LOVE it. Ms. Cassidy has a way of weaving a story that takes you away from everything that's wrong in the world and plops you into the middle of an OOPS episode, leaving you feel like you're catching up with old friends as well as meeting new ones.
If I were a paranormal, I'd do whatever it took to befriend all of these characters. Again, this story is written so well to the point that you feel as if you're lurking just outside the characters' lines of sight and you feel their emotional ups, downs and everything in between.
My only request is that I someday get to fictionally be yelled at by Nina ;) LOL gotta love a marshmallow.

This addition to the Accidentals series has more aww than haha but is still a wonderful read. Wanda and Heath have adopted a little boy and the gang is thrilled for them. But it is going to take an outsider to tell them why the sweet little boy won’t stop crying. But by doing so she has put them all in danger. The OOPS family surrounds the wagons and even adopts a few new members. This story reminds us that there is the family you are born into and then there is the family you choose. I loved that even Wanda the sweetest most put together member of the team has moments of insecurity too. I adored this sweet read and revisiting the OOPS gang.

Then Came Wanda is a bit shorter than our normal Accidental story but that didn’t stop this story from being another great OOPS adventure. I enjoyed meeting Sal & Grey. Sal being a Banshee and Grey being a skinwalker. I have so many questions! I want to learn more about them both. I hope that we get to see more of them in the future.
It was also great to see the Men of OOPS. We don’t get to see enough of them! It is always fun to see Nina, Marty and Wanda in action!
I am already looking forward to the next Accidental story!!! Mermaids! That is going to be fun!

My dear Dakota Cassidy, I do believe this is farewell.

Now the Accidental series was the FIRST ever paranormal romance series I seriously sat down and devoured. I have such fond memories of the first three books. The tag-team-trio who just kept getting such poor/amazing luck in finding these hunky werewolf/vampire/other men. They were funny, delightful, and books that I thought really showed the building of the relationship of the two main love interests. Something that, sadly, this series has moved away from.

It started (at least from what I can recall) around the release of Accidentally Dead, Again. The story had such a great premise and potential for such a great love build: boy accidentally becomes vamp, right after girls booty falls on said new vamps fangs, new vamps trying to figure things out together. No, that is not in fact what we got. The focus for every book past Accidentally Dead, Again has been more focused on the resurgence of past characters making an appearance that the love/romance aspect of the books is being completely written as an afterthought. Which is SOOOOOOOOOOOO disappointing.

Now, me being the 'maybe it was just this one book, right? person, I do in fact own all the books (1-9 paperback, 10-15 kindle). I found myself constantly feeling like the girlfriend who gets the confidence to tell her boring, predictable, unromantic boyfriend that we are through. And what happens? I end taking it back, and inevitably, buying the next book. I would also like to say that I am usually all for a book revisiting a couple and seeing where they are today. Some authors really put you back in those shoes and show how the love is still burning, the fire stills beaming, and the heat between them is still steaming. BUTBUTBUT, the books in the accidentals that have gone back to these couples really don't even focus on them as a couple. I ADORED Wanda and Heath and thought their story was so sad, yet so happily ever after. I guess I just wanted to actually still feel that connection between them. Alas, I was let down by my romantically high hopes again. As sweet of a story that this was, in the end I was just feeling sorta disappointed and a lot unhopeful. So as of today, here and now, I am no longer going to be coming back.

As much as I love the MNW trio, these books are no longer a building of romance and feel like more of a "whose past characters I can bring back for nostalgia" novels. Being an avid romance reader, I can honestly say I loved the Early Dakota Cassidy romance writing ( Kiss & Hell, Accidentals 1, 2, 3, 4, 5ish ) but the accidental series is no longer a romance series. It seems wrong to even put recent books from the series as romance, since the romance seemed so super glue-scotch tape-slapped together. "Here's a new romance about to lovers accidentally turned paranormal... AND DID WE MENTION ALL THE CAMEOS FROM ALL THESE PAST CHARACTERS FROM PAST BOOKS THAT WILL COMPLETELY OVERSHADOW ANY ROMANCE BUILDING AT ALL.

I'm rambling. I need to stop before I end up coming back and just hurting again.
You will be in my fondest memories Dakota Cassidy.

Nothings ever easy for the O.O.P.S ladies

Wanda and Heath get to fulfil their dearest wish when they are given a baby boy by the adoption agency. Not just any baby boy either, heads one month old very rare half zombie, but it's not all happily ever after the baby screams non stop, even Ninas magic doesn't work on him, Wanda is at her wife and convinced the baby doesn't like her when a social worker turns up for a home visit. Nina is immediately suspicious of the lady not trusting her and thinks she's lying to them. She is lying Sal is there to check on the baby but not because it's her job, her best friend was Samantha but something happened and She disappeared only to contact Sal months later asking for her to find and protect her baby. Sal doesn't intend to try and take the baby from Wanda she can see he's loved and well cared for, she just wanted to see for herself the baby was safe. Unfortunately Sal was not the only one looking for the baby and by her actions she has led the bad guys who hurt Samantha right to Wanda. Now the OOPS gang will have to mobilise and do what they do best to ensure the baby's safety.

This would have been a four-star book but, Wanda's announcement at the end ruined it for me. At the beginning she talked about how she wanted to adopt a lot of babies because there're so many that need homes. And then she winds up getting pregnant. How? Yes, she's half werewolf, but she had ovarian cancer as a human, she's also half vampire, and Heath is all vampire. It didn't make sense and it disappointed me. Nothing against women who want to have babies, it's just that it kind of went against what she was saying at the beginning and who she is now. I mean, I get people like that kind of ending but it just ruined it for me. I also understand that it was something she wanted but couldn't have. So, to the women out there that have adopted children, I'm sure that may have felt like this was an homage, or at least representation, but then, they got a kick in the gut. A nonsensical kick in the gut. Additionally, this was a pretty rough story topic. I know some of the other ones have been a little rough but the subject matter in this one was heavy.

Oh, and what happened with Nina's BIL, the ex FBI agent? I'm sure he would've liked to know there was a paranormal FBI.

The story was promising but it really disappointed in the end. 😒

Ok so...I really suck at reviews so I will keep this short and cute! lol. Ok so this new book of the Accidentals or OOPS (yes!) was to me so a nice surprise. I know what to expect from DC's books and don't get me wrong, you do get the cussing galore and the funny but this book was so much more. It was sweet, and tackled one thing I have seen many struggle with: wanting to be a mom. Wanda is the mother-bear of the group, she is good at being the adult in the worst of situations and she is the one you can always count on. So you think she doesn't have any longings? WRONG!! I always wondered if she ever wanted a baby for her own. And my question was answered. This book is a lil shorter than the others but it delivers. It was a great, fast and fun read. I loved it soooo much and I don't regret cutting my study reading short for this!!! 4 thumbs up!!! :)

This is a fun tale where the OOPS women (and sometimes men) are featured doing what they do best - being witchy, vampiric, talking to their familiars, shifting, and helping other supernatural beings.

And then Wanda adopts a baby - who is something else indeed - and it comes to a great surprise to her to find out just which sort of supernatural creature he turns out to be.

This was my first introduction to the OOPS women (and very much towards the end of the Accidentally Paranormal series) but I expect to read more and they are all obviously great characters and Dakota always writes a really good fun (suspense) novel.

Hmmmm.....

What do you Get if you cross a beautiful zombie woman with a jackarse of a human??

A gorgeous baby boy, with MASSIVE lungs!

Wanda and her hubster decided, as no children were happening for them naturally, they'd adopt.

What they didn't expect is a green just baby boy, who just won't quit crying.

Or the woman from the social services who witnesses it.

But that woman has a huge secret.

That secret and this beautiful boy, will lead Wanda and the gang down a rabbit hole they really wouldn't want to be down.

Absolutely fab!

Sal is a banshee and she is pretending to be someone from the agency to check on the baby. but really he is her bff's baby who was killed. u also get all the old favorites in her, nina, marty the husbands.. just love the books read them to fast and it takes to long for a new one lol..

Baby OOPs

Even with a heartbreaking storyline, Dakota manages to get in as much love and cursing as inhumanly possible. Wit and threats fly when a banshee loses her best friend and discovers a baby. Luckily the 1/2 zombie baby lands in the loving arms of Wanda and the rest of the OOPs family.

Another great ACCIDENTAL

Yet a other hit in the series. And yes, I've read them all. A lot more suspense than in previous books but really enjoyable just the same. I liked seeing all the husbands involved. Never suspected the bad guy or the surprise announcement. You've got to read it to find out and I guarantee you won't regret it! Trust me---I'm a lawyer after all.

What isn't there to like about a baby?

It was exactly what you expect from a Dakota Cassidy story. I just love Nina, who never fails to sniff out the truth. The book was funny, but definitely a tear jerker. It is hard to get through some of the more serious parts. It really gets you in the feels can't wait for the next accidental book

Hope

Really enjoyed the honesty of loneliness and the need to keep one's self safe by keeping others at bay. I enjoyed seeing the banshee scenario being useful instead of just looking weak. Great story.

3.5 stars - I did enjoy the book, however I didn't consume it like I used to fly through books from this series. It may just be that my tastes have changed over the last few years, but the story seemed a little flat to me, and predictable. Still a good read though.
