Each story had a different significance and so much love. They are all important no matter how short or long. I was so touched by all the stories. Some stories were about learning how to grieve while others were about giving thanks for the little things, especially for family and good friends. The story that compelled me the most was that of the little girl that was obsessed with books. That little girl reminds me so much of myself. My mother always read to me and my sisters and story time became so much more exciting when I learned how to read. I have never been able to stop reading. I enjoy all types of genres from mysteries to historical fiction and lots of memoirs. The little is so much like me and I hope that many more people decide to devour books as much as that little girl did. The holidays are over but it is still a wonderful book to read at any time of the year. Please pick it up and give the book a try. I truly believe that you will feel blessed and inspired by each story.

I always have mixed feelings about the books in this series. I love the stories that demonstrate how good ordinary people can be. I am much less fond of the stories that demonstrate miracles, some of which are very hard to believe. With that said, this was a nice way to end my Christmas reading for 2019.

FULL DISCLOSURE ALERT: I read two Chicken Soup for the Soul Christmas books this year, and I borrowed freely from my review of the other one for this one.

Everyone who knows me can attest to what a shameless, unreserved Christmas addict I am. I have two small sets of decorations that stay up all year. I am always on the hunt for all things Christmas themed. I don't care how corny it sounds: I keep Christmas in my heart throughout the year.

Maybe it's because of this that I sometimes have trouble working up the extra wonder when the season finally arrives. At Christmastime, I want to feel like a Who down in Whoville: "Christmas day is in our grasp, as long as we have hands to clasp. Christmas day will always be, just as long as we have we," and so on. There are years when my Christmas spirit kicks in full-steam with no hesitation. And then there are years like 2020. I am but one shell-shocked member of an overall stunned into submission population. None of us have ever lived through a year quite like this. That's when I look to reading for assistance.

I am not a traditionally religious man. I have my faith, and I do indeed pray, but I am not a church-going type. I customarily avoid books like the Chicken Soup for the Soul series; what few excerpts I have sampled in the past have struck me as syrupy and contrived. In fact, many people who know me might write me off as a hopeless heathen. I freely admit to being a heathen in the sense that I am not a fan of organized religion and I am resolutely against religion in any form when it is mixed with government. The privately held religious views of an individual, however, are another story. I know of a few folk whom I actually envy them for their faith. I wish I could wholeheartedly commit myself to a faith the way they have done, and thereby enjoy the comfort their faith often affords them. CSS: A Book of Christmas Miracles leans more toward the religious side of Christmas than CSS: Christmas is in the Air, an accompanying volume that I also read this holiday season. What makes this collection palatable is that it features 101 stories of individuals expressing their faith in things that happened around Christmas time. They do not threaten me with eternal damnation if I do not adhere to the beliefs which they hold; they simply express gratitude for being granted the miracle they needed on or around the holidays. I find this gratitude touching, and a worthwhile lesson for this time of year.

Make no mistake: "A Book of Christmas Miracles" is not for everybody. It will not do for the committed Scrooge what the visits of four spirits did. It definitely has its audience. But once I decided that I could enjoy the company of that audience, my own spirits were augmented, and I could feel just a little bit more Christmas joy.

Most of these are from other Chicken Soup for the Soul books, but the proceeds for this book is going to Toys for Tots program... which I thought was worth the cost of the book in itself. Most of the books that these stories are from, I had not seen before, so another plus for me. It would be worth it to anyone who wants a book for reading to your family(s) each night as a way to get you ready for either Christmas or Hanukkah or your religious preference during this season of Hope and Miracles.
Enjoy.

Although some of the stories I have read before, even that little bit of repetition does not spoil the message of Christmas and heartwarming stories! This book should be read every year... to renew our own Christmas spirit!

Couldn't really finish it. Despite not being a Christian, I normally love CSftS books. They have sweet stories but aren't normally super saturated with religion. While I realize that CSftS is a Christian short story book collection, this one is just a little too saturated for my taste.
