I received an arc of this book and am voluntarily reviewing.

I like the plot and how the storyline of this book was set up. I loved how Robert showed addiction and how it can be harmful to oneself and others, plus how drugs can come to rule your life or your activities.

Megan was an extremely strong character and was devoted to her family, which I appreciated. The flow of the story was also great up until the end. The pacing was great and strong, but then boom it ended. It was too abrupt for the story, but since the overall story was great it did not ruin much of it. I am interested in reading what comes next from this author.

3 out of 5 stars

As a debut novel, this story has some strong points. I felt like Michael and Megan really had a connection despite the age difference. I really enjoyed watching MIchael interact with Megan’s boys. I think Megan always had Michael’s best interests at heart and though she wasn’t mothering him, she did look out for him.

All of that said, the storyline is really good, though disjointed at times. The characters were well developed, but I had a hard time really finding the meat of the story. There were also a few places where the actions of the characters confused me and left the story a little -- I don’t want to say unbelievable because I know the story is fiction, but it was lacking something.

I hope that Mr. Robert will continue to share his words and can only hope to read more from him someday.

For a debut novel I do not think this was terrible. I feel that it has a lot of potential, it just fell a little short. I loved the idea that the plot gave off, but it cam down to it, I feel that the storyline just rambled on instead of hitting the hard points that it needed to. While I myself did not particularly enjoy this book, I am looking forward to what Shane Robert will put out in the future.

When a debut book is like this one what can I say about the author? The only word that I can think of is Brilliant.
I just love a story that is real, that can appeal to me and make me think.
Shane Robert has an intense and super real writting that will touch your heart, mind and soul.
Cloudy Mirrors tells the stories of Michael and Megan.
Michael had everything, a great childhood, Amazing parents until one day he decided to venture out. He moved to another city to start a new life on his own. But the choices that he had made put him in a not so good situation.
Megan is a single mom of two kids. Her goal is to make them happy.
When they meet something awakes in them but is it love or lust?
Let me just say that this book is raw, intense and so real.
The interaction between the characters is perfect and the story progresses smoothly and with some bumps in the road.
And girls... Get ready for some hot stuff.
What made me fall in love with this book and what hooked me the most was the fact that what happens in this book can happen to any of us, just around the corner.
You need to think something. What is the most important thing in your life? Love or addiction?
Now Shane I have an important question... Will there be more books? Fingers crossed
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book."

I gave this book 4.5 stars!

For a debut novel, Mr. Roberts has HIT it OUT of the Park!!!! I was captivated from the synopsis and was so glad that I read this book. This book might not have a HEA, but what it does have is real, raw, and intense. The storyline is will make you think about the realties in life. The emotions that this book draws out will have you on a roller coaster.

This is the story of Michael and Megan. Michael had a great childhood, 2 parents that would give him everything his heart desired. At age 18 he moves out to start a new life and meets Scotty. Scotty is a local drug dealer, that introduces Michael to cocaine at a party. At the same party he also meets Megan, Scottie's cousin, but she is very against drugs or the use of them. Megan is a single mom of two boys. Michael simply adores them and is falling hard for the pre-maid family. But as he is falling, he also wants to be high. Can he choose the life of addict or will he choose Megan before its to late?

I love how strong Megan is and how she was able to find love again after the death of her fiancée. Michael at times I was ready to kill him, but I understood him in a sense.

I truly enjoyed this book and can't wait to see what Mr. Roberts gives us next!!!!

This is Shane Robert's debut book.  It was well written with a good storyline about addiction.  It also had great characters that were believable with a lot of emotions.

Megan has had a rough few years.  Losing her fiancé and raising 2 kids on her own.  Megan sees Michael at a party, but she does not meet him until she is at her cousin's house.  They have this connection that they can not deny, but Michael is greatly influenced by Megan's cousin, who is a drug dealer.  Michael gets addicted to heroin and Megan is not happy about this.  He is good for her kids.  I know a lot of people would be upset that she did not kick him to the curb.  I know I would, but I think Megan was in denial.  She did not want the man she could see in their life to be a drug addict.

I am hoping their is a book #2 since there are so many unanswered questions I have.  I am looking forward to what Mr Shane Robert writes next.

A story about drug addiction from the beginning to the end.

I wasn’t sure what to expect from this book as it’s not a subject I usually read.

Michael moves away from his home town at 18 to make it on his own. Loveland is his destination and it’s there he meets Scottie.

Scottie is the local drug dealer and introduces him to Cocaine at his house party. At the same party he also meets Megan, Scottie’s cousin but she’s very anti drugs. Michael soon gets mixed up in the drug world, the good, the bad and the ugly and is spiralling towards a life of crime.

As Michael and Megan get closer, he’s torn between his love of getting high and his feelings for her and her sons. When addiction takes hold of you, there will be consequences and sometimes they’re fatal.

I have to be honest and say that I didn’t like any of the characters in the book so I couldn’t empathise with them. I can understand what the writer was trying to get across by the content but for me personally, I didn’t enjoy the story.

This is the first book that Shane has written.I can honestly say that WOW.. This book was freaking amazing from the beginning to the end. It was very well written with great storyline and great character chemistry. I loved the relationship between Micheal and Megan and how well written it was. The added bonus in this book are Megan's two boys and the relationship that happens with them and Micheal. I absolutely love how Megan tries to make Micheal better and stands by him no matter what bad he does. I am so hoping for another book after this one because I was sad when it ended the way that it does. There is a sad moment in this book that is not only sad but shocking. Leaving you with some unanswered questions that again I hope means that there is a second book coming. This is all about the damages of drugs and what can happen when you let them overtake your life. But again very well written . I absolutely loved this and recommend this to anyone who loves reading.

This is the story of Michael, who grew up with everything handed to him, and a perfect life. He left home at the age of 18 wanting to rebel and discover himself, what he finds is a friend who involves him in the world of participating and dealing drugs.
Through this he meets Megan, a single Mom of two, and 12 years older than himself. Feelings grow deeper between them, each time they meet, but Megan doesn't want that kind of influence around her two sons. They both learn quickly that all actions have consequences, and when that starts affecting Megan and her family, Michael is forced to re-evaluate the choices he's making in his life.
This was a great debut novel by an upcoming author, and I found myself captivated, finishing it in one sitting. Shane is brutally honest with the writing of what drugs can do to your life, and how it affects others. This is the first time I'm glad the story didn't have a HEA, and I think it actually made for a more realistic story. Gritty and heartfelt, this book will rip you apart in the most beautiful way. I'm looking forward to what they release next!

First time all the way around for this author and us readers. When that is the case you go in with such a high level of curiosity that anything can happen. This author will be also one to watch after this one is read because it is totally unexpected the depth that is achieved with the characters he has brought to life in this drama filled read. Being already torn but sticking to family Megan meets Micheal through Scottie. The is the opener of the rollorcoaster ride this author will give you once he has you strapped in. Being no stranger what addiction can do to loved ones and the lives around them this hits it in the ball park with realism. There is also that mentality of thinking you can save those but time tells you the naked truth. This gives you raw and naked with darkness and light mixing. As the events also unfold you will be gone in this until you are blasted out at the end with how it ends.

4 Great Debut Stars

This is the debut novel for Mr. Robert and I really loved this story. He does an exceptional job of creating characters we can connect to and a story that's both intriguing and interesting all at the same time.

As you might expect the title of this book is exactly what you think it's about...drugs and addiction. Michael is a young man that gives up a lot of things to venture out on his own and discover what else is in the world and ends up finding more than he was bargaining for that's for sure. And one of those things is actually a person and her name is Megan.

These two were NOT looking for a relationship that's for sure, but sometimes there's a pull that can't be ignored. Unfortunately for Michael the other thing he can't ignore is the pull towards drugs and all the ramifications that comes with that lifestyle.

I see big things in this new author's future and I can't wait to see what he's got next for us!!!

I decided to read this one based on the cover. I love this cover. I went into reading this one without reading the blurb or anything about it. I absolutely loved this story. It' a little different then any of the books I have read.

Michael has had a great childhood and now he wants his freedom. He moves away from his family and falls into the party life. Even though he has times that he is spirally out of control, he is still a very likeable character. Megan is a single mom of two kids. She doing the best job that she can. She's a great mom. Her and Michal's paths cross at a party. They have a connection. Megan is pretty put together and even though she likes Michael, she will not put up with his drug use. This is a quick read with ups and down. I liked the ending but I really hope that it wasn't the last we get about Michael and Megan.

A strong debut by Shane Robert. I see some great potential in his writing. The characters were relatable and gritty. I liked Megan's unwavering Devotion to her boys. The storyline for this book was poorly timed for me as I just read a story a few days ago that was nearly 90% about addiction. I'm just not a fan of drug use which is what Michael does constantly in this book - mostly cocaine and some marijuana. I think drugs are a weak and a lazy way to deal with life. That being said, Shane did a good job with describing addictive behaviors and that "I'm fine, I'm just having fun, I can stop anytime" attitude that those using drugs have. My only real critique is that the ending was a bit abrupt. There was pretty good flow and development throughout the story and then boom. It's over. So 4 stars for the debut but I see amazing potential here and look forward to reading what comes next.

As the author’s first novel, I felt he hit all the notes needed to keep you invested in the story. It was raw and gritty with passion and emotional turmoil. It is one of those books that makes you thing but also breaks you a little with how much addiction affects everyone involved. I think what I really enjoyed about this story is it isn’t your typical tale with your happy ending. Life is ugly and life isn’t always fair. With Megan and Michael struggling through the motions, you get very involved in their story.
Overall, this is a great debut and the author shows a lot of promise. There was great character build as well as a great storyline which was one of a kind. Looking forward to what else Robert can bring us.

I want more!!!

Wow, that's just it, all I can say. I don't think I've ever read anything like this. I LOVED the love story aspect with Michael & Megan. It was honest and pure. And Michael's interactions with the kids was heart-melting! Although, there were so many times I wanted to reach through the book and smack Michael in the back of the head for some of the choices he was making! UGH!
However, when I end the chapter, turn the page only to find that's the end. I want more; no...I NEED more!!! I can't and won't accept that it ends that way! Shane needs to write the follow-up to this!

emotional book that shows you how addiction takes over a person. I found myself just wondering how and why Michael could get caught up in all of this. He's young and has so much to offer. Megan wants to protect her children and is a great single mother. I found myself feeling sorry and hateful when Michael went for his addiction. I just wanted to smack him tell him to get himself together to see what's in front of him. I did have to grab tissues a few times. Not a bad start for Shane's debut book.

It doesn't matter what type of life you lead or are given addiction can happen to anyone at any time. One snort was all it took for Michael to become addicted. Just like one look ad he fell in love with Megan.
Megan doesn't want anyone into partying in her life or her boys, but Michael pulls her in. He treats her beautifully and spends time with her kids .
One mistake is all it takes to have everything go to hell. How will they get out of this mess? Will he stand by her or will they have to walk away?

Message is Loud and Clear

Congratulations Shane on your very first book. I will be honored to say that I knew you when.... There is no doubt about what this book is supposed to be about. To read about something that has basically become an epidemic is just so hard to do. Especially, when one has lost a family member to this disastrous nasty habit forming stuff as Cocaine. Very nice job, young man.
I look forward to reading your next adventure that you are so destined to accomplish. Congratulations!!

Where should I start.  This was not a bad first book.  I love Megan in this book.   She is a strong woman who knows what she wants for her kids.  The struggles that you see Michael go through.  The ups and downs and twist and turns of his book.   The struggles just seem so real!!! Yes there were times I would get mad and upset!  But that is what I look for in a book.  It had a little bit of a slow start for me.  But once it got start the story was good. Really good strong start for Shane's first book!  I enjoyed it!

Great debut book!
This book centers around a very serious subject. Drug addiction!
The story of Michael and Megan is something that happens everyday. It was sad but real the drugs got ahold of Michael and pulled him farther and farther into their ugly world. We saw that Michael knew it was wrong, he wanted the life with Megan but the addiction controlled him. He was hurting himself and her. I want to say I hated the abrupt ending of this book but considering the subject matter everything can't be roses and sunshine. It was real life!!

I liked this book. I liked the characters and I liked the story. I didn't think the main couple in this book was really compatible but I could see where that attraction stemmed from. I never emotionally connected with the characters. That ending was great. I wanted more of these characters and see what comes next for them.
I love the cover but I don't think it fit the characters in the book.

Edited review (I hate trying to review from my kindle)

This wasn't bad, but wasn't great either. It was pretty good for a debut. The idea was great. It dealt with so many struggles. Moving to a new town, addiction, age gaps, getting kids involved, whew! I did find myself getting bored at times, it dragged on a bit and repeated some things a lot. BUT Shane has a strong start, I can't wait to see where his writing goes, I am sure he will be amazing!

I really like this book . I was cheering for both megan as well ad Michael to have a fighting chance together. If you need a book with a hea then this is not the book for you. If you want a book to where you can relate to everyday situation then grab this book , you won't want to put it down.

My rating is based on the fact this is a debut for this author. His ideas are excellent and as a debut it has quite a lot of substance. The characters were believable and faced real challenges. I agree with another reviewer who felt some disconnect but I also feel that will work itself out in future work. I did feel that I would have liked an epilogue to wrap things up for me.

What an amazing story. Loved Megan and how she put her boys first. Michael had a mixed up way of looking at things. Megan just wanted what was best for everyone. Michael didn't see anything wrong with wanting to live his life his way. Could not wait to see where this story went.
