Tyler Jackson isn't looking for romance, but he certainly wants to see what this Jess woman might have to offer once he separates her from her clothes.
While it seems impossible that they could duplicate the intensity of their scorching hot initial rendezvous, Ty soon learns it's equally intense every time they're naked together.
Jess Hensen is smitten by the insanely sexy firefighter who's just risked his life to save an entire litter of kittens.
Is it his looks or his bravery that's so enticing? Or could it be that vague sense that she's seen him somewhere before?
When she learns of his dark, dangerous past, will she be too taken with him to walk away like she knows she should?
Or will Jess risk everything to stay by Ty's side?
FIRE The contents of this book are extremely hot and might cause arousal.

It's a good thing that Ty's a fireman because these two sure do create an inferno! 🔥💚🔥 They meet under terrible circumstances as the animal shelter that Jess and Rhonda run goes up in flames. Don't worry. No animals were injured in the making of this book. Although, the same can't be said for the hearts of Jess and Ty.
I love how they challenge each other, often in naughty, fun ways. They really do like open air adventures which keep things enticing and very spicy. 🔥 LOL!
Do make sure to have a tissue or two handy. These two broke my heart and each others when they let a misunderstanding get in the way. Things get crazy before they get better but the ending is sweet and perfect for them.

I so loved this book. This is my first one by this author and I have to say that I'm a fan. The chemistry between Tyler and Jess was off the charts. It had me laughing one minute burning up the next and crying with lots of snot. If you like sexy reads this book is for you.
So, I really wanted to like this book more than I did. And I was almost 2/3 through when I really started to scratch my head. Ty and Jess have a great story here. I love that they are unexpectedly reunited after all these years - that was an awesome element. But the conflict in their HEA just got really complicated. The "miscommunication" became an obstacle for the reader as much as the characters. There were so many times when I just wasn't on board with the choices they were making because they didn't make sense to me. Why would Jess not just come right out and ask Ty about this HUGE issue she was having with unanswered questions? No rational, intelligent woman would let it go so long without just asking. If Ty really loved her that much, wouldn't he have TRIED to talk things through? I was bothered so much because I really liked these characters and I felt like they were being forced to overcome hurdles that were just unnecessary for the book. Also, the synopsis is NOT indicative of what you get as a reader. This is a story about two people who have a great meet/cute, have some awesome history that they both forgot about, fall in love, have a conflict that feels really forced, a near tragic ending, but then an HEA. It's worth a read, but just be forewarned. This was my first book by this author and in looking through her catalog, it looks like this was a tame one from her. Maybe a different title? A different synopsis? And ease up on the complicated conflict. I'd still recommend it, but with caution.
Even though this book was originally published four years ago, this is the first time I have read it and I thought that it was really good. I really liked Jessica and Tyler together. The connection and chemistry was great. Jess and Tyler meet by chance and that is all that it take for this two to get started. However, Tyler's past comes back to haunts him and these two have to work at getting their HEA. I enjoyed this book and I would recommend it and Ms. Alexis as a wonderful author.

Ah, I really liked this; it was a good old-fashioned meet and feel instantly attracted to one another story. There have been too many ‘bad boy’ books in this genre lately. Don’t get me wrong, I like a bad boy as much as the next woman, but when they are downright nasty, and you can’t understand why they are even sleeping together because they profess to hate one another, then that is where I’ve started drawing the line. This book, however, is the total opposite of that, and it was a refreshing change. Jess and Ty meet when the animal sanctuary she works at is on fire, and he comes to the rescue as a fireman. It was hot and steamy from the moment they set eyes on one another! The happy ever after seemed to come too soon, though, so I just knew there was going to be some major drama that they would have to overcome. I just didn’t expect it to be what it was. The whole story was very well played out. I liked the tentativeness between them while they were trying to sort out their feelings for one another after the drama. The chemistry from them, though, was jumping off the page, so you knew you were going to get the happy ever after you were craving. Great ending, too, not too cliched. So, overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this, and it was a solid five-star read!
This was a small town romance. The characters were realistic. The story was funny, sad and steamy.
Jessica Hensen co-manages the Wrenwood Animal Shelter. When a fire devastates the shelter, she meets a gorgeous firefighter who risks getting injured to save the last kittens during the fire.
Tyler Jackson spent his early childhood in Linville before moving to Kansas with his divorced mother. Back in town as a member of the fire department, he meets a woman he wants to get to know better while fighting a fire. Jess baked pies for the station house and him bringing his pie to his home. She gets an eyeful of Tyler as he plays in his pool with his dog. They go out to dinner, but agree to hook up on their next date. They start a picture perfect relationship until he brother tells her about a possible murder conviction. They break up for a short time but reconcile for their HEA.

This is an amazing story that once I started it I couldn't put it down. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

I am so glad I bought this book. This is my second story by Alexis , first being Nailed, and once again, NOT disappointed . Loved the story, loved the plot, the characters interacted just perfect and all the little twists and turns. When Jess is devastated when the animal shelter goes on fire, never does she realise that her love of pets will bring her love in her personal life. Who wouldn’t want a hot fireman like Tyler Jackson. Whoa, so sexy. She just has to see him again but there is something familiar about him and she can’t understand why. Tyler is mesmerised by Jess and thinks she is just perfect for him. A beautiful love story but to make it work you have to have Trust and love. As I said before, a brilliant story and can’t wait to read more by Alexis Adaire.

Could have been better. The history and current start of the relationship are sweet but the saga was irritating. For two professionals not to be able to communicate over a very simple case of mistaken identity is unavailable. If you ignore the pointless drama the heat is good and at least varied. That is one element that isn't romance by formula

Tyler is a firefighter and while putting out a fire at the Wrenwood Animal Shelter he meets Jess and wins her heart when he saves a litter of kittens. This is a short, steamy, insta love story with likable characters, a misunderstanding, drama, and a great ending. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
I liked the book until the big misunderstanding. If I were the Hero, I would not have forgiven the heroine right away. She could have just asked him if he was ever in prison before (which he wasn’t). Seriously dumb and shallow heroine.
'Slow Burn' by Alexis Adaire is a well developed story with interesting characters, an intriguing plot, and tells the story of Jessica (Jess) Hensen and Tyler Jackson. Jess works at the Wrenwood Animal Shelter as a co-manger. Tyler is a firefighter for the city and responds to a call at the shelter. Jess watches as Tyler goes into the burning building to save some kittens. She can't tell if it is his looks or courage she likes better. Jess bakes a pie as a thank you and delivers it to Tyler's house. Tyler is quite taken with Jess and they decide to go out. Things are progressing well when Jess's brother, Lyle, gives her some information about Tyler that causes her to break up with him.
Ms. Adaire has written an engaging story with likable characters. The book has laughs, action, misunderstandings, drama, trust issues, passion, and heart. I really enjoyed this read and recommend it to anyone who enjoys a sizzling story.

He had her heart when he saved the kittens, but will he be able to keep it
Slow Burn will singe your fingers as you read....so be very careful. The story is about firefighter Tyler Jackson and Jessica Henson, co-manager of Wrenwood Animal Shelter. When Ty's firehouse is called out to the Wrenwood Animal Shelter he meets Jess. He ends up going to the building to save a litter a kittens and in the process captures Jess's heart. To say thank you for the firehouse, and especially Ty, Jess bakes pies to delivers them. With Ty not on shift she takes his pie to his house only to discover the buff and sexy man playing in his pool with his dog. He asks her to dinner, she agrees and the before you know it they are setting the sheets on fire. But things are not long for having a simple relationship when others get involved and their hearts ignite for each other.

The author has given us a wonderful story that pulls us into the lives of Ty and Jess and does not let go. When they meet at the scene of a fire, they have an instant connection. However, the more time they spend together, the more the past tries to rear its ugly head. Will secrets kept destroy their chance at happiness?

I liked the story but thought it could have had less sex and more action. I mean I do not mind sex in my stories but want more than every other page is about sex. I thought that there would be more back stories about being a firefighter and working in an animal shelter. But sadly there is nothing about firefighting after the first chapter and very little about the animal shelter.

Slow Burn is a good small-town romance with a perfect amount of heat that pulls you in with each turn of the page. Jess meets Tyler during a fire. When she goes to the station later to thank him, she ended up getting a show she did not expect. Thier story has the right amount of steam and passion along with the twist that keeps you till the end.

Ms. Adaire painted a sexy, sweet picture with Tyler & Jess's story. The characters were so perfect together. Their steamy chemistry sizzled and sparked right off the pages! This was a awesome story ending with a perfect ending!
This is a short story. Love the characters, explicit moments and the plot is intriguing. I enjoyed reading this story. Hot, hot, hot and I definitely recommend it.
