Ugh. No. Just...no.
There is NOTHING wrong with bottoming for someone. But you don't have to be A COMPLETE P*SSY either.
Before we start, I want to remind everyone that I am a big fan of the Guns n' Boys series and most of the books in the Sex and Mayhem series, by the same author, and all of them are M/M Erotica, which means I normally quite like the writing style and general storylines.
So here's a quick summary of what happens till the half of "BARE-KNUCKLE LOVE":
Jason , an illegal underground fighter, has to lose a fight in order to fulfill his arrangement with The Rabid Mongrels MC, who bet against him. But the sight of the blonde curls of his high school crush in the audience, a guy who never even noticed him before, makes him reluctant to lose and look like a p*ssy... (eye-roll)
His joy of victory is short-lived though, because it turns out that Hyde , the Prez of the MC, is no other than his hot-piece-of-ass ex-crush and he is a mean motherf*cker!
Hyde tasers him, kidnaps him and ties him to a chair. They have a little chat about Jason's f*ck-up, but then things get interesting when Hyde starts standing in front of poor Jason and pushing his d*ck to his confused but eager face. NATURALLY, Jason opens up like an obedient little puppy. Because how could he not, guys? Hyde was the guy who helped him realize his homosexuality all too clearly 10 years ago and he had never done anything about his fascination with the male body since... I mean, Hyde threatened to kill him a few minutes ago if Jason didn't lose the next fight they will schedule...but who cares, right?
When our so-called tough fighter is done sucking like a pro (at his first blowjob by the way...HUGE APPLAUSE PLEASE, PEOPLE!), Hyde takes him to bathe himself. He is still bloody from his earlier fight after all... (eye-roll)
( QUICK P.S: Hyde-the-a**hole VIDEO TAPES HIM DURING THE SEX ACT! And keeps it as leverage against stupid Jason...but Jason still lusts for him even after this. So don't worry, guys. Their legendary love story isn't over yet.)
Then he takes him to meet his fellow bikers and they first put a shock-collar on his neck (yes, seriously) and then throw darts at his back. After all the fun and games are over, Hyde asks Jason to move in with him till the next fight, to the house he happily shares with his little kid, his WIFE aaaaand her girlfriend, and OF COURSE Jason is so ecstatic about that brilliant idea. (eye-roll)
OVERALL: I picked this book up thinking I would read a sexy-as-hell book about a badass cage-fighter and a broody biker, but what I got was a pathetic closeted gay guy running after an asshole, with his tongue out and waggling his tail like a puppy.
Blehhhh. No thanks.

Hyde(president of the club) is furious and wants retribution.Jason is taken to the Club and subjected to an act of humiliation,which was uncomfortable to read so I would DEFINITELY take note of the warning at the start of the book.
Hyde keeps him at his house until Jason has paid back the debt in the form of losing another fight.
Jason is around 25 but came across a lot younger to me.He was very insecure,having been treat badly by his father in the past.He was desperate for affection and pretty much put up with anything Hyde threw at him (I really wanted him to stand up to Hyde more)
I was in the mood for some dirty M/M action and this certainly delivers...these Authors write some of the hottest M/M scenes!!
I didn't realize it was so short though.I was totally into it and happened to glance at my reading progress only to find it was almost finished.Hopefully,there will be more of these two in the sequel..
Recommended,if you enjoy dark,gritty,sexy man on man action...

RATING: 1 WTF IS THIS SH@T Heart! >__<
To be honest, I got curious about this after reading a friend's update, and come on, who can pass up some hot man-on-man action?? Well, this was a bust for me. Bare-Knuckle Love has a promising premise, however, it's execution is sorely lacking. The only reason this didn't end up a DNF is due to Jason. I genuinely felt bad for him and all that he had endured in life. He was a lost man, and my heart (the idiot) fell for him. And grudgingly, I admit, some of the sex scenes were pretty damn hot. :P
What killed this book for me?? And enough to give it a 1 star, well...that "honor" goes to the douchecanoe of epic proportions Hyde for treating Jason like garbage and then claiming to not get enough of his ass (pun intended) *queue eye rolls*. All I have to say to you, you ding-bat:

Hmmm, how to rate that this one? I'll start with a 3 and see what I end up with once I spew out my thoughts.
Bare-Knuckle love is a little too weird to be believable. Jason is out of cash, unemployed and agrees to lose a bare-knuckle underground cage fight. During the fight he spots an old high school crush in the crowd and his pride forces him to throw common sense out the window and he wins the fight.
This isn’t the weird part.
The weirdness begins when it disclosed that the crush is the leader of a big, bad motorcycle club. He’s straight (or pretends to be) but then forces Jason to get on his knees and do a very naughty thing because he’s so damn mad that Jason didn’t throw the fight. Jason does what he’s commanded because Jason has no self-worth. Hyde has filmed the whole thing and uses it against Jason. This is sad and a little strange but I’m easy and went with it.
But then, oh but then . . . Hyde (good name for him, really, kudos to the author) decides to take Jason home and it is here that the WTFery begins. Hyde, you see, is married to a lesbian whose lover lives in the same house all cozy-like. Hyde and his wife have a little boy. Hyde is allowed to have lovers but not make sexy noise within hearing range of the boy. Hyde lives a very normal life at home that is almost sweet. Into this little bubble of non-reality he brings an illegal MMA fighter without a second thought?! What on earth?
Sooooo, tell me if this scenario makes any kind of sense or if I’m just having a really bad comprehension moment.
Hyde is basically holding Jason prisoner to his sexual whim (though Jason doesn’t seem to mind the sex part) and he’s also forcing him to throw another fight because he has that humiliating little sex vid of him. Jason does whatever Hyde demands because he’s terrified of the video getting out and because he has no self-confidence. His inner monologue sounds like a beaten and bullied teen and it made me so sad.
Jason, however, knows that this big bad MC leader is keeping a secret life that would destroy his standing in the MC and would destroy his life if word got out.
Hmmm, I’d say Jason WINS this smack-down by a landslide. Sadly Jason is not bright enough to realize this. Or he’s too blinded by the sex and can’t think straight.
Anyhow, this is the premise which, if you ask me, is all kinds of terrible. Still, I read it to the very end and have to admit that it was kind of sexy in a completely awful way.
2 ½? 3? I’m still on the fence. The writing wasn’t horrible and I'd read this author again because despite my dislike of most of the story, it managed to draw me in. I very much disliked Hyde and felt that the Jason was too weak a character. He needed a hug and a nice guy. Instead he got stuck with Hyde. Ah well. Insta-lust will do that to you.

*sigh* Wow, this was harsh. I mean, it was so gritty and violent. And the blood and the blackmail on top of it all. *sigh* I don't know, it just felt so wrong...Maybe they took it too far this time...
HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Who am I kidding, I LOVE that shit!
This prompt image was created for K.A.Merikan. It had it all, blood and hot guy on the run, ready to fight. The hot stud in the pic is Jason. I loved Jason, he is the gentle giant...when he doesn't bite people. And Hyde, well...Hyde is a douchebag. He puts Domenico Acerbi to shame.
There is some pretty hot sex going on here and the story is heavy on the humiliation kink. As long as this happens between lovers and not in front of others, I'm totally ok with it.
Although this is a complete story (no cliffy here), it is also the beginning of a series. I did feel that the story ended right at the moment the real romance kicked in, but I'm not worried. I know that behind the grit and the blood, there is magic for Jason and Hyde.

But I have to say I am a huge fan of this author, I adore the Guns n' Boys series and have enjoyed most of the books in the Sex and Mayhem series too.

Warning. This was all sorts of dirty and crude.
I don't know why I picked this to read because I usually don't like such harsh reality. I guess my curiosity got the best of me. So if you like the questionable morals and gritty brutality of underground MMA fighting and MC clubs, then this is for you.
To sum it up, this had violence, humiliation, desperation, uncontrolled lust, and crazy smex. I just could not look away. Oh no doubt, this made me uncomfortable, and it definitely made me squirm.
Obviously this is the stepping stone for a new series, and despite the above, I do think I would read the next book. Again - to satisfy my curiosity. Yep.

I am a big fan of these ladies and love some of their other books but, Oi! This one just didn't do it for me. And I was so excited too! The blurb sounded amazing and I was so into book cover lust that I thought for sure this would be awesome. But in the end I just couldn't bring myself to like either character. Jason was too weak for my tastes. There's being submissive and then there's being a complete coward and letting someone do whatever the fuck they want to you. I like my men strong minded and with a backbone. No matter how shitty Hyde treats him he still lusts after him like the fool he is. Ugh! So not my kind of character. And Hyde... Well he was a colossal of an asshole. Just, no. Not my kind of read. =[
Still love these ladies and will continue to read whatever they put out.

2.5 stars That picture looks like a ripped Eminem. But I digress. I wanted to like this more than I did. It was labeled dub-con so I thought it would be pretty gritty and fucked up, but really, it was just kinda sad. After all the physical and emotional abuse at the hands of his father and brother, Jason's self-esteem is so in the shitter that he needs a good psychiatrist, not a good fuck.
Hyde's blowup was completely psychotic and an OOT reaction. And basically the moral ended up being that Jason was so desperate for any sort of love or acceptance, that he's okay with being treated like shit. And then talk about Jekyll and Hyde, the last few paragraphs they were both talking like normal people and it did not fit. I was actually kinda glad when I read the first paragraph of the Epilogue because I thought it was gonna be a 'bittersweet' ending , but then Hyde
I had 3 stars initially, but after writing this review I'm leaning more towards 2. Imma sleep on it.

The problem? Well, you make a deal and people tend to hold you to that. So when he's taken by the Rabid Mongrels MC, the last thing he expects is to be face-to-face with Hyde (or face-to-cock but semantics.)

So what do you expect when you read a story by K&A? I can tell you that I expect steam and grit and dirtiness. This checks all those boxes and then some.

I loved it! I thought it was hot and sexy! Plus, I really love enemies to lovers type of stories.
I really loved Hyde's family as well. I definitely would read a lot more about Jason and Hyde as well as some of the other guys in the MC. Two thumbs up!!

I rarely rate short novellas/stories more than 3 stars, because they always seem lacking in comparison to full length novels, but I was so tempted when it comes to Bare-Knuckle Love by K. A. Merikan.
Bare-Knuckle Love is not for those faint of heart, because despite the story's shortness (around 90 pages) it dealt with some heavy subjects, such as: cage fighting, other scenes of violence and a bit of humiliation kink, so if these things are out of your comfort zone I think that it's better for you to stay away from this freebie.
I didn't rate it with full 4 stars because:
~ it ended just when it became so good.
~ I wanted to see more of Hyde's emotional side and more emotional scenes between him and Jason.
You should definitely give it a try:
~ if you're a fan of dark & kinky mm romances
~ if you're a fan of biker ft. mm fighter romance
~ if you're a fan of enemies-to-lovers romances
My dirty mind says: Bring on the next one! ;)

Bare-Knuckle Love is not for those faint of heart, because despite the story's shortness (around 90 pages) it dealt with some heavy subjects, such as: cage fighting, other scenes of violence and a bit of humiliation kink, so if these things are out of your comfort zone I think that it's better for you to stay away from this freebie.
I didn't rate it with full 4 stars because:
~ it ended just when it became so good.
~ I wanted to see more of Hyde's emotional side and more emotional scenes between him and Jason.
You should definitely give it a try:

This book is harsh! It's doesn't go easy on the reader. I must admit I got teary when we heard about Jason's upbringing. Poor Ratso!! I may have a lot of kinks, but humiliation is not one of them so I found it hard to get beyond Hyde's asshole behavior and attitude.

I had soooo many problems with this one. Hyde treated Jason so horribly. I don't know why I even read this one honestly. I wanted to give up but it was sort of like a train wreck. Hyde uses Jason as a human dart board, put a dog shock collar on him ( and uses it!!!), constantly calls him names and puts him down, and is blackmailing him. But for some reason Jason still wants him.... in no way is this a "romance". If anything, it's a story about emotional and physical abuse...

Bare-Knuckle Love was the first book in the Rabid Mongrels MC and the first I've read by K.A. Merikan. I look forward to more.
Jason was an underground fighter. He fought for money so he allowed himself to lose in a fixed fight when it was financially advantageous. He was in the middle of one of these fights when he spotted his high school crush that he hadn't seen in ten years. Jason determined he wouldn't lose while his longtime crush, Hyde, was watching. Unfortunately he didn't realize Hyde was the President of the Rabid Mongrels MC, who ran the fight and had it fixed for them to win big.
Hyde was a tough one. Definitely a Jekyll and Hyde, thus the nickname. He was gorgeous and likable at times. loved his strength and confidence, but he was also an arrogant prick; which shined through the most.
I liked the premise of the story; however, as typical with a short story, I was craving more depth into both the storyline and the characters. It was told in a single POV, Jason's, so we had some insight into his psyche, but I desired more from Hyde.
Additionally, the beginning was a little odd to me and then I struggled with the MC's poor treatment and humiliation of Jason. As the story progressed, I felt sorry for Jason when he revealed he was an outcast and then described the antics he put up with as a child from his brother and father. It added depth to him, but I definitely felt his pain and loneliness and it broke my heart. With that said, even with his brokenness, he still showed strength and grit at times; which was ultimately what drew me to him.
Al in all, it was a quick and entertaining read. Merikan promised a sequel and I'm looking forward to more development and hopefully a full coming out versus a private relationship.

I hate to give a low rating for a story that was bestowed on me by the lovely DRitC-event and some very awesome writers who took a prompt by someone of the community and told their story.
But. This was absolutely not to my taste. I know that this is supposed to be rough and bloody and violent. But this is not a love story, not even if you squint. There isn't any romance or even believable, sexy lust to be found here. Nada.
The "tough" guy Jason is a fighter/boxer who seemingly has no concept of self control, no self-preservation instinct or self-confidence. What he has though: the uncanny "ability" to immediately drool and slobber when confronted with a dick - like Pavlov's dog when hearing the bell.
So, you're being held and constrained by the local MC who lost a lot of money because of you, you literally fear for you life, but the second that crotch of your oh-so-sexy captor comes near your face you can't help but take a sniff and be turned the hell on all the way to Mars. When said cock is whipped out the first thing that comes to mind in that kind of situation is to mewl like a frigging bitch and beg to suck that delicious cock, because you have no brains, only that all-consuming need to fuck and suck... Yeah..... Riiight.
I'm sorry, but no. Let's make that a NO in capital letters. It doesn't help that he never once in the book grows a spine or some dignity. His mere existence seems to serve one purpose: be a hole, begging to be filled. We get bits and pieces of his background that are supposed to show us that he's broken and had a shitty childhood - oh, and that he loves dogs. Is that enough to make him seem like a 3-dimensional character though? Not at all.
I don't buy the chemistry between Jason (the pussy) and Hyde (MC president and bad boy, but also an adoring father who's secretly living in a "gay living community") at all. It's simply not there, imo.
Not to mention that there are all kinds of plotholes. Like being the secretly gay MC president, who takes the "captive",i.e. Jason (the crazy mofo fighter), home to his secret living arrangements, to his son, and consequently giving Jason all kinds of leverage to get out of his predicament. Not that Jason ever connects these dots to get out of his predicament . Because there might be potential future sex on the table, which is, of course, far more alluring than getting free from your 'kidnapper'/captor. Again: Yeah, riiight.
Well, you see, I'm truly sorry. All the kudos in the world to these two author for taking an active part in this awesome event. Really. But this wasn't for me. Although, evidently, there are many readers who liked this story, so there's that.

And what are the odds, faith has put them in the line again. He's even more worse than before.
You're not going to like Hyde. There's nothing to like about him. Except for the sexual tension between him and Jason that is. *cough* I cursed a lot when I'm reading this. We got a glimpse here and there about Jason's past. My heart broke for Jason. If you're willing to get through all of that, you'll get an HFN in the end.

I think the authors followed the prompt diligently. I liked the setting, the excitement of illegal cage fighting and motorcycling clubs. Jason, the fighter, is a vicious fighter with a sad, sad background story, that was difficult for me to read as I love dogs. I think his horrible childhood really messed with his head, and he needs a good psychiatrist and a few years of therapy. But he is a kind, loving man, desperately needing love, touch and acceptance. Thats why I feel Hyde is not the right guy for him. Hyde is a very unpleasant piece of work, and I never warmed up to him. He does not deserve Jason in any way, and if Jason was normal and emotionally healthy, he would know that.
The rest of the story was good, my immense dislike in Hyde just ruined it for me a bit.

I haven't tagged this as romance because it doesn't qualify for me, but it is the beginning of a non-traditional romance.
While this isn't what I would consider dark, I accept that my version of dark leans more toward erotic horror, and that those who don't delve into that depth of depravity, will consider this dark.
I enjoyed this story, and I will be on the lookout for the sequel. While not perfect, it captured the basic story line.
Jason is a closeted, illegal MMA fighter, who was supposed to throw a fight for the Rabid Mongrels MC, until, while about to tap out, he captures a glimpse of his High School crush, Hyde, and wants to prove himself and be noticed.
Unbeknownst to him, Hyde was counting on the loss, and thus starts the beginning of their 'relationship'. Blackmail, Electric-shock collar, and humiliation are all part of Jason's week under Hyde's care, while he gets ready to fight again.
Jason's sense of self-worth is woefully inadequate, and I struggled to get through his internal dialogue. The lack of any real backstory made it difficult for me to understand him. We got snippets, and it was bleak, but wasn't enough for me to fully connect with his depressing thoughts.
Hyde is an anti-hero and as such is hot, commanding, and brutal. I would have liked a little more depth from him, but I hope this will be made up in the sequel. I think this 'couple' could develop into something darkly dysfunctional, and sexy, with a hint of 'lurve', without taking away from the relationship development that has occurred here. I look forward to finding out how this short story is developed in the next book.

That pretty much sums up the relationship between Hyde -Real name Pierce- the guy with the split personalities and Jason the fighter.
Jason had a horrible childhood and Is obsessed with his his school crush hyde, who doesn't even remember him and only wants the money he lost. And he will do anything to get the money back, which really isn't a problem because he knows how to play a closeted man.
Jason isn't stupid and he knows how Hyde Is. But he still can't say no. The feelings felt one-sided, up until the end.
There was no love between them, and surprisingly I actually liked the story.
There was an HFN ending, and I just don't see them carry on being with each other. Hyde is an annoying person and Jason is just coping with living his life, and setting his own rules for the first time.

This was not the dark f'ed up book I thought it would be.
But I still loved every page.
Was it perfect...not at all, but it worked for me big time.
