I gave up pretty early in the book (page 41, I think). While a better method than some, I didn't really feel this was a great one either. While I did appreciate the authors wanting parents to be self-controlled and not do things out of anger or emotion, I have two major issues with the method proposed. 1. It was about getting kids to behave, instead of actually teaching them. While I am a firm believer that kids should obey, I think training is a huge part of that. By just enforcing a punishment without explanation (most of the time), you are missing so many opportunities to train your child.
2. No matter how they presented it, this is pretty much the traditional "when I count to three, you're in time-out" method. I feel like there are better methods out there.

1-2-3 Parenting with Heart: Three-Step Discipline for a Calm and Godly Household is an excellent parenting book that presents simple steps for addressing your child’s misbehavior, training that child to respond correctly and learn how to accept and do chores, and behave correctly, and how to build your relationship with your child. The book text as well as the audio book have highlighted blurbs within each chapter, to help you focus your mind on the important points. Especially in the text, this is great when you are returning to the text to grab your attention to find the points you have read about. While parenting my sons, I used some of the techniques included so I would highly recommend this book for parents, public libraries, parenting collections, counseling centers, and listening libraries.

Absolutely appreciated this book! I have found it so incredibly helpful in my parenting growth. No nonsense. A really good balance of not being too tough and not being too soft in disciplining your kids. And I will say my sister recommended it to me and I have recommended it to several others. Everyone so far has also found it quite helpful.

wonderful parenting book.

1-2-3 Parenting with Heart is a wonderful parenting book that gives a simple system for parenting. This is what makes it work. As a parent, I know if it's complicated, I am not going to stick with it.

Even though he offered some good tips, not sure I want to implement it for my child.
