Becca
Mistakes? We all make them. But when you get the chance to right them, you don't think twice. You take what you know, and you learn from it. I realized I had a chance at something better. He was willing to give me himself. And I wasn't willing to let anyone take that from me again..

Jaycent
I should have never walked away. He wasn't right for her; we all saw it. But I did as she asked and let her go. No matter how much it hurt me. But I've been given another chance. Now that she's back in my life, I'm gonna make sure no one comes between us. Some aren't going to agree. Others are going to downright hate it. But I don't care.  I'm doing what's best for me, myself and I ... and she is the best!

I absolutely adored this book and man is it hot!
The characters in this book are just incredible. Becca is amazing. I love how strong yet emotionally vulnerable she was. I thought it was an incredible mix for a character. Becca has always had feelings for her brother's best friend Jaycent. I really love Jaycent and I liked seeing the softer side to him. He is wonderful and sweet.
The best parts about our two main characters is their explosive relationship. You can really feel that deep down they both love each other.
I really just had a blast reading Myself and I definitely recommend it if you're looking for a sweet and completely satisfying contemporary romance!

Myself was a delicious quick read that I absolutely enjoyed.

This is book 2 in the Selfish series. You should definitely read Selfish first before reading this one as it will help you get to know the characters in this book.

This book was a sinfully sweet second chance romance mixed with some moments that may have you screaming, cursing, swooning and melting. Jaycent, Becca, Ryder and Ashlyn are all back again and this time around we get to find out Jaycent and Becca's story while also seeing a little more of Ryder and Ashlyn.

Jaycent - Swooon !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FUCK I loved him in this. Protective, devoted, loyal and just YUM.
Becca - She is literally the nicest person and man I wanted to punch a few people on her behalf.
Of course we get to see Ryder and Ashlyn again in this as well as get a little glimpse into what is going on with them after Selfish.

I absolutely can't wait for more from this book and these four characters.

I did like Becca and Jaycent's story, but it wasn't Ryder and Ashlyn's. And I missed them. I'm glad that we see them in this one and the ending made me excited to get to theirs again.

Becca annoyed me a bit in this one. I'm not sure why she dug her heels in about telling Ryder about their relationship. I don't think it would've been that big of a deal. I'm glad they figured out their crap though.

Looking forward to seeing how things play out in the next book.

This was a quick read and keeps you wanting more. Becca & Jaycent are smoking hot!!! Their chemistry is off the charts and they compliment each other very good. Jaycent and Becca tried to have Ryder open up his eyes to what he was doing; they were both Team Ashlyn.

Conner was still a douche and I hated him even more in this book just like the first one. Becca still has a beautiful soul and Jaycent is swoon worthy. Now I can't wait for the continuation of Ryder and Ashlyn, lol.

This is one beautiful and emotional read. If you want to read a story about love, true love, then this is it!!
Love is messy, its at times bitter and it has sides – you always chose sides when it comes to Love even though you don’t mean to. Then there are repercussions but that’s the best thing about Love, TRUE LOVE, is that when you love deeply, you don’t give up on the person you love without the fight of your life.
Jaycent & Becca are a couple that you root for and never want to stop reading about. This is book 2 in the Selfish series. To understand the characters, I would recommend reading book 1 and get ready for a roller coaster ride of your life when you start reading book 2.
I was so glad for Jaycent to be in Becca’s life now. Considering the jerk “boyfriend” that she had in her life that made her life a living hell, Jayce is a breath of fresh, loving air. Jaycent and Becca had history back over 4 years before that was all hush hush but with Becca moving home and bring Ashlyn as her roommate, things are going to get awesomely fantastic , with all the sexual tension between Jayce and Becca. There is a villain and its someone I would least expect but yeah, I could totally see it- wanting to keep Becca and Jayce from being happy.
There is so much drama and angst, pain and anger but this book shows what can happen if you truly love and how much perseverance pays off. Jayce is all alpha male and I totally loved that about him while Becca is all sassy girl . They are a total match made in heaven. This is a great read, and I REALLY, REALLY can't wait for the next book!!

My rating: 4.9 stars ****

ARC Provided and Reviewed by We’ve Licked that book blog!

Loved this book once I started I couldn’t put it down I just needed to know more.
This book is about Becca & Jaycent who we meet in the first book. I would recommend you read book 1 first. As the story really comes together in this book.

I really loved Becca & Jaycent story.

Becca has made mistakes but who hasn’t and when she gets a second chance of course she going take it. She has loved Jaycent for years
I really felt for Becca what she had to put up with her mother being so controlling over her life …. Then we had Connor I hated him the way he was with her what he done to her he treated her like a doormat… I really loved how she grow through the book.

I really like Jaycent he is Ryders best friend which could makes thing complicated because Ryder is Becca brother.Jaycent he such a swoon worthy guy and how he feels about Becca. And together they are hot. They are just perfect.

We more from Ryder and Ashlyn.
The story is well written and you can’t put the book down once you start…
I really can’t wait for the next one in this series.

Myself was a surprise. I was expecting a continuation of Ryder and Ashlyn's story. Instead, I got the nitty gritty of Jaycent and Becca's story. Super cool how their interaction in Selfish was explained and secrets are revealed. This couple is almost as intriguing as Ryder and Ashlyn! I love how Becca developed during the story and how Jaycent supported her. We all need a love like that in our lives! If I have one criticism is that Becca cries...a lot...it got a little tedious for me. But then we all know young women whose emotional outlet is to cry. Mine is to say a bad word, so who am I do judge, LOL.

I freaking love this book! I love how Shantel writes. If you read Selfish your reading Ashlyn and Ryders story. In this one is the exact same, but it's also told by Jaycent and Becca. You get more insight in the 1st book, and find out more with the characters in Myself.

My heart goes to Becca, she has so many close people in here life that treat her like crap. Since she was a young girl she feel in love with her brothers friend named Jaycent. Now he is back in her life and he is doing everything possible to make her whole again

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

Myself is the second book in Shantel Tessier's Selfish series. You must read Selfish or you are going to be lost. This book is Becca and Jaycent's story.

We have all made mistakes. Becca has. You take the chance to make things right and you learn from these mistakes. Her being asking Jaycent to let her go and him walking away from her. This is there second chance. Some people are not going to be happy with this second chance. Others will down right hate it But Jaycent doesn't care. He is doing what is best for him and Becca is it.

Who doesn't love to read about best friends. Now the fabulous foursome is back together. Ryder, Ashlyn, Jaycent, and Becca. While the main focus of this book is Jaycent and Becca you also get more of Ryder and Ashlyn. This is the story of true pure love. It's a very emotional read I thought. One minute I was laughing and the next I was crying. We have probably all screwed up and lost someone we loved because we thought something else was better for us only to discover how wrong we really were. I love Jaycent and Becca together and I really love the friendship between all four of these characters.

Once again we are left with a cliffhanger. I so can not wait though to spend more time with these wonderful characters who hold a special place in my heart.

Let me tell you Shantel knows how to write a story to suck you in & make you never want out!! Jaycent & Becca are one hot couple with chemistry you feel when you walk into a room.

Becca is a sweet girl we were introduced to in Selfish; who looks to have had the perfect life. The question is does she? Jaycent her brother's best friend. Within the first 3 chapters you get knocked over, then your left trying to pull yourself back up just to see what is going to happen next. The next thing you know your reading along and bam, wait.....what just happened. Then your going back to re-read the last sentence/paragraph like what the heck??? OMG this book was so jaw dropping that as you get towards the end of the book your saying wait wait no there has to be more.... I have a complete & udder book hangover. I always want more when her books end, can't get enough of this author! I don't ever want to give away spoilers when writing a review, so if you take away 1 thing from my review take with you this next sentence. This is a book full lust, love, mistakes, lies, bone chilling honesty, add in some angst with a dash of sexy, hot alphas.

Shantel is a must 1-click!!

This is book two in the Selfish series...while book 1 ends in a bit of a cliffhanger, book 2 is actually Becca and Jaycent's story. Becca is Ryder's sister and Ashlyn's best friend and Jaycent is Ryder's best friend.

So this takes place the same time as book 1, just Becca and Jaycent's story (which we see some of it in book 1)

Becca and Jaycent have a past...but can they have a future? Will Ryder understand that his best friend is in love with his little sister?

Ugh the emotions had me in my feels!!

Story 4.5/5

Becca and Jaycent were an amazing couple and I totally fell in love with them. And I LOVED that we were able to see Ryder and Ashlyn again! You should buy Selfish and Myself right now! Just do it!

Too much repetition

While I absolutely love the characters and the story line I did not like the way this book replayed all of book 1. Granted it was often through the eyes of Becca. But I felt it added very little to the story line. I found myself scanning much of the first part of the book. However, I will continue with book 3.

Enjoying the story

Becca and Jaycent have finally gotten what they want but the relationship that Ryder and Ashlyn once had is on very rough and rocky ground. I would have given more stars but 3/4 of the book was in the last book only from a different point of view,

Book 3 finishes the story for book 1. If u read this one, u will end up rereading a lot of stuff from book 1 and book 3 just with a POV from Becca and her man. This should really just be a bonus book and not a part of series.

Wow! After finishing Selfish by Shatel Tessier, I needed to pick up Myself to see what was next for this amazing set of characters, and I was so happy to see this book was about Becca and Jaycent!

We met both of these characters in Selfish, and I was dying to know what was going on with these two characters. Both of them played big parts in Selfish, but I was happy to see them get their own book! Becca has always had her life lined up for her, but it was never what she wanted, she’s also always been in love with Jaycent, her older brothers best friend. When she was 18 she finally got her dream and then had it torn away from her, when she went to Seattle, she stayed with her then boyfriend Connor and she was happy in Seattle with Ashlyn and her life there, but she definitely wasn’t happy with Connor. Now that Jaycent is back in her life, and her relationship with Connor is finally over, she may finally get everything she’s always wanted.

Jaycent had what he wanted within his grasp four years ago, but Ashlyn broke his heart and left him and he has yet to get over her. When he sees her again he knows he has to have her and do everything he can to get her back, he doesn’t care that she’s his best friends little sister. I loved how protective he was of Becca, and how he went after Connor when he hurt her. I wasn’t happy that he kept what Connor had done from Becca, but I understand why he did. The way he proves his love for her over and over again was amazing, and the things he will do to prove his love for her is beautiful. I felt his frustration when she wouldn’t tell Ryder, and I was just as frustrated as he was with her.

These two truly do belong together, but they definitely have a road to get to their happily ever after. There have been many misunderstandings between the two, and they have a few things to get through before they can truly have everything both of them have dreamed about. I loved watching Becca stand up for what she wanted with her mother, and earn the respect she though she never had with her father, but I hated seeing her hide things from her brother, who she loved the most out of her family. She shouldn’t have felt that she needed to hide her relationship with Jaycent from him, and I knew by her doing this, it was going to cause problems. When everything comes to light with what all Connor truly has done, instead of being mad at Connor, I was angry with her for being mad at Jaycent!

Not only do we have these two running around trying to keep their relationship secret, but we also get to see Ryder and Ashlyns relationship through their eyes as well. I loved how this story was told almost in parallel with Selfish, but we got to see past it to see a little bit of what comes next for those two as well. Becca and Jaycent are perfect for one another, and I loved their banter, chemistry, and their friendship. Their love story isn’t easy, nor is it perfect, but they make it perfect. I truly loved these two together, and can’t wait to see more of them in Selfless when it releases later this month!

Ahhhh!!! This author likes to torture me!! So I definitely went into this book thinking that I'll be getting the conclusion to Ryder and Ashlyn, only to find out that it's about Becca and Jaycent. Can't say I hated that, but then you get to the end and get that little tid bit of Ryder and Ash and I'm like AHHH!!!! I forgot I was dying to read the conclusion of their story, and the author tricked me by giving me this awesome story of Becca and Jayce. UGHHHH!! I have to say that little bit had me giggling and I'm dying to read the rest of their story, and also Becca and Jaycent's. I'm assuming they get book four? Or am I being an a$$? Ha!

I loved reading about Becca and Jaycent and I was definitely surprised at some of the things that came out in this book. I couldn't believe how much of a Biatch Becca's mother was! Like...how is she even a mom?! She's awful! I loved Jaycent and I loved Becca. Becca's always trying to please everyone and she ends up sacrificing her own happiness to make others happy. Sometimes I felt like shaking her because she had so little belief in herself, but I loved that Jaycent believed in her and he seemed to get through to her and show her that she can do anything she wants. She's too worried about what everyone else thinks and wants her to do. I did get kind of annoyed with her at times when she would keep things from Ashlyn. They've been best friends for four years and I feel like at certain times when she was struggling, she should've talked to Ashlyn, because in that situation, I would've ran to my bestie. Either way, I still loved her and loved the growth and change she showed throughout the book. She finally starts standing up for herself and Jaycent definitely had a lot to do with it.

I need book 3 like yesterday!!! I need to know what happens with Ryder and Ashlyn. I need to know how things with Becca and Jaycent end. I need all the little details, Connor, biatch mom, Bradley, Nibbles!! Bahaha I cannot wait for book 3! I think it might be epic! I'm ready to read about groveling and banter and then hot make-up scenes! Write quicker please!!

** ARC provided by the author for an honest review **

Repeat daily: I am doing this for me, myself, and I. This should be the mantra for Shantel Tessier’s Myself, the second book of the Selfish series.

Four years ago, Becca walked away from the best thing in her life. She made a huge mistake and it has been a hard lesson learned. Now she is back home in New York and has a second chance at what she left behind. The only problem is her controlling ex and domineering mother. Oh, and a secret that could destroy her relationship with her brother.

Jaycent let her walk away once before, but he won’t let her do it again. He wants what is best for him and for her. He won’t let anything come between them, not this time. Not her secrets. And not his best friend, her brother. When you get a second chance at love you take it.

We met Becca in book one when her best friend Ashlyn hooked up with her brother Ryder. We also met Ryder’s best friend Jaycent and saw the tension and chemistry between the two. I love that the timeline is parallel to Selfish giving us fresh insight to Ashlyn and Ryder’s story, along with answers to their own interactions in book one.

I felt so much compassion toward Becca and her situation. Not the secrets that she keeps, but the way that she was controlled by the people in her life who should have encouraged her to be herself. If she didn’t have Jaycent in her life it could easily have taken a different direction. He showed her that fighting for what you want isn’t a selfish act but a self-preserving one.

Shantel has discovered a genius way to tease readers, cliffhangers aside. After reading book one with its ending I was ready for more of Ashlyn and Ryder’s story. I wasn’t expecting Becca and Jaycent’s story yet, but it works. Now we have more knowledge of both couples, but we still don’t know what happens next.

This was an exceptionally poignant read. Genuine and real situations bring the feelings to life. I cannot wait to read the next book, whether we get more of Becca and Jaycent, or Ashlyn and Ryder I will not be disappointed. This series is addictive and fast becoming a favorite. FOUR stars.

I love a brothers best friend romance, and Myself did not disappoint.

A story that runs parallel with the previous book with Ashlyn and Ryders story Obsession so you get to see other points of view from Jaycent and Becca's side.

Jaycent is Ryders best friend, has been since he was four, he's also 7 years older than Becca who has loved him since she was 11.

When Beccas reaches 18 Jaycent finally sees Becca for the beautiful young woman she has become but with plans of college nothing more happens further than a one night stand and Jaycent let's her go.

Becca has always been controlled by her father, her mother and now her boyfriend this book is Becca's time to finally be herself.

Years later and Becca and her best friend Ashlyn are on vacation celebrating finals when her brother surprises her by visiting and of course Jaycent is with him.

It's like a soap opera, things happening with Ashlyn and Ryder, Becca's boyfriend openly cheating on Becca and keeping secrets along with her own mother, Jaycent acting like the big brother roughing up Conner for treating Becca like trash (totally deserved it) because he secretly still loves Becca.

Jaycent is determined this time not to let the girl he loves slip away again even if it means telling Ryder.

I loved it!, the drama, the sex, the plot, everything in all the right places with no dips so you happily keep turning the pages I'm getting addicted to these characters.

Recommended that the first book be read first, they are all interlinked and the next book goes back to Ryder's and Ashlyn with their issues.

I'm loving Shantel's writing, the characters are so interesting and likeable, I can't wait to jump into the next book.

MYSELF is book two in the Selfish series by Shantel Tessier and is a brother's best friend/friend's to lovers/second chance/New Adult contemporary romance. I'm going to whine a bit because...WHY?!? Why torture me with Becca and Jaycent's story before finishing Rdyer and Ashlyn's story?? LOL! Don't get me wrong, we met Becca and Jaycent in book one and I was definitely looking forward to read their story. But I was also anxious to find out what happened with Ash and Ryder. Anyway, Becca is the complete opposite of Ashlyn. Where Ash was fierce and domineering, Becca was soft and almost submissive. Not that there's anything wrong with Becca's character, I just preferred the stronger, more confident personality of Ash. Jaycent, on the other hand, was a less obvious alpha version of Ryder. Still possessive, substantial and secure of himself but in a less showy or cocky way. Maybe it was simply the nature of their relationship? Not sure but I still loved Jaycent for Becca and I enjoyed watching them break through the barriers to find their HEA! Again, there's not a whole lot of intense drama in this one. It's FOUR people now trying really hard to fit the pieces of their lives together. Told from dual POVs with ANOTHER CLIFFHANGER (or a cliffhanger still?) I received, read and voluntarily read an ARC of this book.

I adored Selfish the first book of the Selfish series so much and was so excited when Myself released a few months back. When I realized it was a bout Becca and Jaycent and not the continuation of Ashlyn and Ryder’s story I was a little disappointed. Not because I didn’t want to know their story, but because I wanted to finally have answers to the cliffhanger we were left on.

Obviously I really liked Myself, but it felt like a retelling of Selfish with some of the scenes in Becca or Jaycent’s point of views. It was still interesting to finally learn more about their past and the emerging of their feelings for each other’s. In Selfish it was so easy to feel their connection and I must say I was really intrigued about their past.

Becca has always felt lost in her world of wealth, when she’s only a modest girl. She’s hurting from not being perfect enough for her mother and being mistreated by her boyfriend. The only person outside her big brother Ryder to really see her is Jaycent. I can’t express how much I love this guy. He’s so sweet with Becca and proves time and time again that he won’t let her go and he’s in this relationship for better or for worst.

In spite of their age difference, they’ve always share a special bond that developed into something more quite naturally. I enjoyed the fact the story flow between past and present, offering the reader with small pieces of the way their love story started years before.

I love the scenes where we could revisit Ashlyn and Ryder’s relationship too. I love both of them so much and can’t wait for the conclusion of their story in Selfless. Now that I know more about Becca and Jayce, the next novel will only be even more amazing with these two couples.

Myself is book two in the Selfish Series by Shantel Tessier.

Oh Jaycent and Becca. Your angsty story was everything I needed. And waiting for book 3 will test every ounce of patience I have.

I have always thought that series that do the alternate POV would just be the same story and why would I want to read the same story again?

But that really wasn't what this was. While Myself did follow the same story line as Selfish for the first few chapters...it easily developed into Becca and Jaycent's story and took on a life of it's own. I enjoyed little flashes into Selfish with Ashlyn and Ryder.

Myself gave me my must haves in a read. There was adequate drama...there was so much back and forth for Becca as she tries to navigate getting into a relationship with Jaycent when she thinks there will be no approval. Tears. There were tears...and anytime a book can bring me to tears and make me feel deep emotion...its a win for me.

I am super excited for what is next. Bring on Selfless!

I loved this story from the perspective of Becca and Jaycent! The overlapping of the story line from book 1 helped provide an entirely different point of view for many of the dramatic scenes.

The relationship between these two characters was incredible. The forbidden aspect of it due to a large age gap, brother's best friend, already in a relationship... all of those things made this crashing of hearts that much more exhilarating! Everything was stacked against them, yet somehow they found a way not once but three times!

My heart broke for Becca and what her mother put her through. What her boyfriend of multiple years put her through. There is only so much that one woman can take and B not only faced it head on, she rose up and came out on the other side a stronger woman than ever. I was so proud of her character in this book. She finally stood up for herself and took what she wanted. Jaycent!

This couple made me swoon like you wouldn't believe. I was rooting for their love from the beginning! I loved the outcome the author gave these two and can't wait to see more of them in book 3.

Becca has loved Jaycent since she was 11 years old, the only problem he is her brothers best friend and 7 years older than her. After one night together when she was 18, she moves away to Seattle to try and get over him.

Jaycent has been attracted to Becca for as long as he can remember, he fell in love with her when she was 18, he has been protecting her from her asshole on and off boyfriend for years.

When Becca moves back to New York after finishing college the two find it hard to stay away from each other and start up a relationship, but Becca has demons in the form of her mother who is determined to keep her away from Jaycent and they also have the other little issue of her brother Ryder. What will happen when everyone finds out they are together? Can they survive the storm?

Myself by Shantel Tessier is the second book in the Selfish Series. I recommend to not read it as a standalone. You should read book one, Selfish, first.
Myself picks uo where Selfish ends and tells the story from Becca and Jaycent´s POV.
Years ago Jaycent hadn´t should walk away from Becca. But now they get a new chance. Becca love him for forever. But sheming and lies drove her away. And now she´s back. But drama, secrets and lies threaten to destroy their new relationship.
I couldn´t wait to read the next installment in the series. But - I don´t know if I like Becca. She´s so weak and Jaycent seems like he lets everyone walk over him too. I understand they´re quiet, shy and a bit recluse.
I liked the story. I loved to read how the couples develop and the writing is great. Myself ends in a cliffhanger and continues in Selfless. I give 4 stars and say thank you, Shantel Tessier.

Becca is the kind of heroine who hides her pain behind strength, and I felt every bit of her heartbreak. She’s been burned before, and she’s not interested in making the same mistake twice. But when Jaycent walks back into her life, everything she thought she buried comes rushing back.

And Jaycent? He’s not just chasing forgiveness, he’s clawing his way through guilt, regret, and the wreckage he left behind. He wants Becca back, but this time, he has to earn her heart. As long as he has her, he’s happy.

This book is a beautiful second-chance romance. I loved every second of their story, finally getting a happy ending they deserve.

My Review: This book was just as good as the first! The banter is great, the drama entertaining, the pacing was fine, and the spice was heavy too. My only issue is that this coulda been added to Selfish. It just felt like a retelling of the first book in Becca & Jaycent’s POVs instead of Ashlyn & Ryder’s. That alone made certain moments a little hard to read because many conversations were just repeated. This would have been better thrown into Selfish with multiple POVs. Overall though, it was a good read and kept me entertained all the way till the end.
My Overall Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
Spice Rating: 🌶️🌶️🌶️/5
Tropes: Brother’s bestfriend, forbidden romance, HEA, second chance romance, secret relationship, age gap (7 years)
Triggers: None listed in the book but I guess it’s fair to mention use of sexually explicit scenes and language, cheating, mentions of women abuse (technically), etc.

A great continuation of the series but featuring Becca and Jaycent. Yes, Ashlyn and Ryder make appearances but you get to hear about Becca and Jaycent's story from them directly. Which I so wanted to hear after how horrible Conner was. And I love this title because it fits Becca directly. She is doing things for herself now and not someone else and planning to make herself happy, however that happens.

Jaycent has always been Becca's protector and now we know why. Yes, she's his bestie's little sister but there's more and almost always has been. I loved that there was more to Jaycent than being just happy go lucky guy and that he was so deep and feeling.

This ends in a cliffhanger too but it will be more about Ryder and Ashlyn again - because we need their story wrapped up STAT!!!

Shantel Tessier has out done herself yet again with her current book Myself, book two from the Selfish series. Although I was expecting the continuation of Ashlyn and Ryder’s story from Selfish (book one), I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Jaycent and Becca’s story. Shantel writes in a way that makes her characters real. You want to yell at them, punch them in the face, cry along with them and laugh with them. Not everyone gets a second chance at love. However, there are still many obstacles Becca and Jaycent will have to overcome. This story also has splashes of Ryder and Ashlyn so I would highly recommend reading book one first. I cannot wait for the next one to come out in this series!
