The Traitor’s Club: Ford is a lightning-fast-paced novella, which I read so fast, at times, I wish it had slowed down a bit. Since this is a novella, I missed the deep level of emotion usually found in one of Ms. Landon’s books. That is not to say it was too superficial but just did not have the emotionally-charged story I have come to expect from this author.

Lady Calinda Barclave was disappointed in love in the past and is determined to never suffer that loss again. When she meets Ford Remington, she tries to ignore the immediate attraction she feels for him.

Ford Remington spied for Her Majesty during the Crimean War, a bloody and brutal conflict. The queen needs his service. While he does not want to put his life on the line yet again, the prize offered will help so many of his less fortunate comrades who suffered from the war, so he reluctantly accepts.

Ford quickly finds himself losing his heart to the woman he is investigating. While he may not lose his life in the queen’s service this time, he may lose the love of this astonishing woman when she learns of his deception.

Calinda is a likable heroine, but I would have liked more depth. Since this book is so short, the character development was not deep. Nonetheless, I did have a glimpse of her strong family connections, which helped me become vested in her.

Ford is a hero I could love, but again I would have liked more emotion from his character, so I never fully fell in love with him. I did enjoy his loyalty to his brothers-in-arms, and his strong desire to help the widows and orphans left destitute.

If you are looking for a quick read with a good deal of action and a clean and wholesome romance, then you will enjoy The Traitor’s Club: Ford. While this book is not my favorite by Ms. Landon, it did keep me engaged. Happy reading!

I honestly had no idea what this book would be about, I just really liked the title and clicked it on my Kindle. Yes, I do that a lot but sometimes it works and other times it really doesn't.

Ford is the first installment of The Traitor's Club series. It was pretty interesting and a quick read. I mean 100ish pages? That could be totally read within like 30 minutes or less.

I really liked Ford's character. I also thought the whole showing interest in a lady for this secret mission for the queen was kind of laughable. It's not hard for something to go wrong with that idea -but hey, I devoured this book so who am I to complain?

Well, a part of Ford's mission is for him to show interest in Lady Calinda, aka Callie, which he obviously took great measures because he's instantaneously attracted to her.

Callie has the worst luck in the romance department. No, really, she does. Her love life is in shambles. Of course this all due to a guy, which is beyond cliche in books... but hey, it works - doesn't it?

The romance was pretty good. It's not insta anything since life throws some stuff at them. Plus, Callie doesn't want to be burned twice so she's definitely taking her sweet time to get to know Ford and then to let him in.

Secrets are unfolded, hearts are being claimed, and overall it was a really good book. I already read the next three books in this series and now I can't wait to write the reviews.

Lady Calinda aka Callie was burned years ago by her betrothed and has decided that men cannot be trusted and wants no part of marriage. She is content to help her grandfather run the Crown's shipping company.

Captain Ford Remington is one of the "Queen's Scoundrels", he has returned from the war and is at loose ends, he feels a bit of survivor's guilt and desperately wishes there was something he could do for all the wound/crippled soldiers that were not as fortunate as he and his friends were. His chance arises when the Queen requests his assistance with the Crown's Shipping Company. Profits have been declining for years and she wants Ford to go undercover and find out why. His reward will be half interest in the company. The money will enable Ford to help those soldiers, so while he has no desire to spy again, he can't turn away this opportunity.

Ford meets Callie at a ball and befriends her - he feels badly about deceiving her, but he has a mission and until he learns more, she is a suspect. Callie is shocked at her reaction to Ford, she hasn't had any interest in a man since her ill fated betrothal. Even though she tries to keep Ford at a distance, she feels a connection to him and begins to share her worries about the company with him.

As they work together to figure out who is stealing from the company and how, they fall in love. Ford can never seem to find the right time to tell Callie about his mission and knows the longer he waits, the harder it will be for her to forgive him.

Things come to a head and when Callie finds out the truth, she shuts him out. She refuses to talk to him, listen to him or read his letters. Up until this point, I though this was a 5 star read - but the way she acted turned me off and I had a hard time liking her after that. She came across as a hypocrite since she was also keeping secrets from her family and especially from her grandfather. She assumed the worst about Ford and steadfastly refused to believe she might be mistaken.

She does redeem herself (sort of) but for me, it was too little, too late.

The book is well written, interesting, moves at a steady pace, has very mild love scenes (kissing only), great secondary characters and a decent mystery. I loved Ford, from the first page to the last and I look forward to reading the other "traitors" stories.

I received an arc from the author for an honest review, and am happy to recommend "The Traitor's Club: Ford". I've also purchased this book as an addition to my kindle library, as Laura Landon is on my "must read" list of authors.

This book pulled me in from the very beginning with it's strong characters, and a storyline with secrets, mystery, danger and romance. I thoroughly enjoyed Ford and Callie's story. Captain Ford Remington is an honorable and kind gentleman, as evidenced by his concern for the men wounded in the war, and his desire to assist with the troubles surrounding Callie and her family. Lady Calinda is a beautiful and strong woman, influenced by past heartache to never love again, but unable to deny her feelings for this man. The story is set around suspicion of crimes within the Crown's Shipping Company, owned by the Queen and Callie's grandfather, Admiral Barclave. The two meet when Ford is sent by the Queen to discover who is stealing from the shipping company. True to the great writing style of Laura Landon, this is another wonderful read you won't want to miss!

Within the group of great supporting characters, there was just enough introduction to the other "traitors" to pique interest and leave me wanting to know more about Hugh, Jeb and Caleb. Definitely looking forward to the next in this series!

Ford is the first installment in Laura Landon's new Traitor's Club series. It was a fast-paced, short book and it did a good job of setting the groundwork for the series.

Fordham Remington is a former soldier and spy at a pivotal period in his life. When he is offered a major financial reward for some work for the Queen he quickly decides to go for it. It will help him establish a new life and will help him provide resources for soldiers who lives were changed by service in the Crimean War. Part of the subterfuge requires him to show an interest in Lady Calinda Barclave -- no difficult task since he is instantly attracted to her.

Lady Calinda (Callie) is the granddaughter of a famous navy admiral and is deeply involved in work with his shipping company. Her romantic life is in shambles after a betrayal by the soldier she loved. The last thing she is looking for is another man, but what can she do when the very handsome and kind Ford offers to help her deal with trouble at the shipping office?

The romance was straight forward with some bumps in the road. Since Callie has been betrayed once what will she think when she finds out that Ford's purposes for being there are secretive? This was a well developed story and I enjoyed meeting the other "traitors." I will certainly be reading the other books in the series.

This enticing story captured my imagination and my sympathy for those that returned from the wars broken and destitute. I really felt for them, especially the shabby way the Crown treated them after returning broken in both mind and body. Through the act of investigating a theft from the Crown shipyards, Ford found love when he thought he was too jaded to ever be rewarded with such a blessing, as for Callie she never expected to feel so deeply again but love knows no boundaries. It took some time to follow the trail of clues that lead to the thief, never expecting it to end up with a very close family friend, it seems jealousy, that green-eyed monster knows no boundaries as well.

While Laura Landon is an author that I have not read before, I was on the lookout for her works and delighted to find The Traitor’s Club: Ford on netgalley. She and I will both be attending the Historical Romance Reader Retreat this year, so I was hoping to read some of her works before that event. I was excited to be sent an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

And, honestly, I really enjoyed this story! I normally have a problem with novellas, and this book is very short - only 122 pages. I easily read it during a long flight. But, it worked well! You get enough of a plot, mystery, and adventure that, by the end, you really get to know everyone, including the secondary characters. The romance is kept fairly PG, which works with the condensed timeline and novella length. And, because the reader fully understands the mental capacities and motivations of Ford and Callie, you can’t help but to root for their happy ending.

As for the story, it is fun! While it is a novella, there is a lot of action and adventure packed into the story. The pacing is fast – I was never bored – and while the mystery wasn’t overly complicated, it was still fun to see how things would unfold. I liked that this book was set after the Crimean War, but felt some of the language when Callie and Ford were talking or thinking about the plight of the war veterans/widows/orphans was a little awkward and heavy handed (hence losing one star).

In general, I liked this book and can recommend it as a fun, clean, novella and a delightful way to pass a few hours. I look forward to the next story in the series!

Captain Fordham Remington and his friends were among the best spies for Her Majesty during the Crimean War. When the Queen requests that he investigate a problem at the shipping company she owns with Admiral Barclave and offers an irresistible reward, he sees an opportunity to help those soldiers back from the war, and widows and families, but have no resources to take care of basic needs for them and their families. As part of his mission, he is introduced to Lady Calinda, Admiral Barclave’s granddaughter who assists him with the shipping company. Their attraction is immediate. There are two problems: she has been hurt and doesn’t trust men, and he is afraid she will reject him when she finds that he has deceived her. So – solve the crime, catch the crook, and fall in love – easy, right?

The fast-paced plot filled with mystery, danger, betrayal, and romance held my attention from start to finish. I love the epilogue. As usual, Laura Landon creates a wonderful group of characters. While this is a novella, the character development fleshes out the story, and you don’t feel like you missed anything. Ford is strong, compassionate, and honorable. Callie is just as strong, and beautiful and intelligent. They are perfect for each other if they get past their problems. We get to know a lot about the secondary characters, especially the other members of Callie’s family and the Traitors Club. I look forward to the stories in this series.

I have never been disappointed in one of Laura London’s books, and this was no exception. I originally received an ARC from the author, but purchased a copy for my Kindle library at its release. I highly recommend this book.

I love a storyline that includes intrigue, danger, villains, along with the romance. This book has all that along with an interesting story. The fact that it is a clean romance is a plus and proves sex is not necessary when the story is well written. I have read several of Laura Landon's books and have not found a bad one yet. This book is set post-Crimean War where Fordham Remington was a captain in Her Majesty's Dragoons. He is part of The Tailor's Club, a group of spies who often needed to act as if they had secrets to give to the highest bidder. Ford is called on to investigate why Her Majesty's shipping line is losing money. Is someone pliffering funds? Her partner in the Crown Shipping Company is a well respected naval hero, most likely above suspicion. However, his granddaughter, Calinda, keeps the books and is not above suspicion, at least until Ford meets her. He finds she is much like her granddaughter, honest. They are attracted to each other almost immediately. How will they solve the mystery? The investigation proves to be dangerous to both of them. What will they need to go through to find their HEA, including Ford's deception. This is novella worth reading, it is just long enough to keep the reader interested, to tell the story and to leave the reader wanting more. It is great that there are four gentlemen in The Trailor's Club so more stories along this line. Hugh is next, can't wait. I received this ARC eBook from the publisher for an honest review.

A well-written novella that I was loathe to put down. The characters are very well portrayed & have a depth of character not often seen in stories of about a hundred pages. Ford & Callie are very likeable & their attraction is apparent from their first meeting. The story is fast paced & the plot had me turning the pages to find out whom the villain was. There were a couple of loose ends I would have liked to have seen resolved. I look forward to the other members of the Traitor’s Club having their stories

I have read many stories by Laura Landon so I was thrilled to read “The Traitor's Club: Ford”. This was a move away from “Ransomed Jewels” which I loved. The story focuses on Captain Remington, known as Ford, who has returned with three other members of The Traitor’s Club. This is a club, contrived to disperse any notion of them working as spies for Her Majesty. On his return from war, he is sought out to uncover the loss of funds from Her Majesty’s shipping company, currently half owned by Admiral Barclave.
However, Ford soon realises that Lady Calinda Barclave, the granddaughter of the Admiral, who works for the shipping company, is aware of the situation. Together they join forces to uncover the perpetrators of the crime.
This was a fast paced story with great character development. Ms Landon had me captivated from the start. I look forward to reading about the three other members of this club, in the future.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Captain Fordham Remington has survived countless dangerous missions fighting the foreign enemies of the Queen while maintaining his cover as a traitor to the Crown. His next mission seems to be a less violent assignment of finding out who is stealing from Her Majesty’s shipping company. Lady Calinda Barclave has been working alongside her grandfather to run the shipping company he owns with the Queen. She’s noticed that for the last year the profits have decreased and she turns to the dashing Captain Remington for help. Lady Calinda has sworn off men, her finance betrayed her, but when she meets Ford he turns her world upside down. Ford begins to care for Calinda and starts worrying how she will feel about his ultimate betrayal. Will he be able to win Calinda's trust and her heart again or is it too late for them? This is a novella and a fast read with action, romance and mystery.

I received a complimentary copy from the author for my honest unbiased opinion.

I totally enjoyed this story, it wasn't an overly long storyline but it had everything from intrigue to mystery to keep me interested in reading it.
The plot revolved around the Crowns shipping company who the Queen was owner, and Admiral Barclave had a partnership in. His granddaughter Lady Calinda Barclave was the major hand in keeping things in order for the Admiral. And captain Fordham Remington was tasked by the Queen to investigate. Little did Ford know that he would fall under Lady Callinda spell. But then the Queen had sent the right man for the job or did she? Being part of an elite team of spies Ford and his friends have been through many dangerous situations. What danger can one woman be for his heart?

This was fast paced full of mystery and intrigue, betrayal an attempt at murder and romance. I highly recommend Laura Landon stories they never disappoint.

When a spy loves

Ford has been sent to investigate a shipping company on behalf of the queen! There is a reward that will help him rescue wounded soldiers and widows! Callie helps her grandfather run the Shipping company! She is brilliant and beautiful! Callie has been hurt before so she does not trust easily! Ford literally sweeps in and they instantly bond! But there are treacherous people who don't want secrets revealed! If you like gunshots, betrayal and blackmail then this series is for you non-stop action! I love it!

Ohh, I really really loved this book. Okay, I already knew (at least I hoped that I knew) that I'd like it because I haven't found a book by Laura Landon yet that I didn't like and several of her books are part of those that I re-read regularly.

As this is a new series I was curious to see who I'd meet here and I must say that I loved those characters a lot. As usual, they are interesting and strong characters , a strong and independent heroine who succeeds in a position where women were rarely accepted in those times and a hero who respects and supports her.

When Captain Fordham Remington investigates the thefts at Her Majesty’s Crown Shipping Company, he is impressed by the young woman who works alongside her grandfather there and who is the de facto leader of the company. When those two work together to find the thief, they find that there might be something more between them. Things get tough and their feelings an't be denied anymore - except for this teeny tiny part where Lady Calinda Barclave might get the impression that Ford has betrayed her. An impression that it not entirely false, truth be told so in the end, Ford might face an even greater challenge than tracking down a thief. Will he be able to win Callinda's trust and her heart again or is it too late for them?

What I really loved about this book was the way the author dealt with this betrayal and its consequences. I hope that I don't spoil anything for other readers when I say that I can guarantee a very nice HEA? So, I think it is safe to mention that early on I anticipated the confrontation when Calinda would inevitably find out about the betrayal or you could rather say that I dreaded this confrontation. Waiting for it, dreading it for quite some time while reading the book, I was really happy with the way the author let the hero and the heroine deal with the situation and the way she let them find their way back to each other.

All in all this is again a wonderful book that I'll definitely re-read and I'm really looking forward to the other books in this series!

I receive a copy from NetGalley for an honest review. Callie is running her grandfather's shipping business and notices that money is missing. Ford is a former spy sent in to investigate.. I really enjoyed this story with Ford and Callie since it contained a mystery that needed to be solved but at the same time a very sweet romance. I also enjoyed the fact that the other 3 spies are introduced to the reader which means that more books will arrive for us to enjoy. Yes!!

A perfect example of an excellent author's ability. I thoroughly enjoyed Ford and Callie's story. I can't wait to read the rest of the traitors club members stories. I've already purchased almost all of her other books. This one I subscribed to kindle unlimited to read because it was short. I assure you I will be purchasing it in the future.
