Chain Reaction: Rube Goldberg and Contemporary Art

Rate this book
"Chain Reaction" looks to the influential, early 20th-century cartoonist Rube Goldberg to set the stage for contemporary artists engaged with humorous explorations of mechanical devices and functions. The book will combine drawings from the Williams College Museum of Art's singular collection of original Goldberg material with paintings, video, sculpture, and installations from artists such as Fischli & Weiss, Roman de Salvo, Jeanne Silverthorne, Tim Hawkinson, and more, which celebrate rudimentary processes and logical organization. Edited by Ian Berry. "Flipbook" by Dean Snyder. Afterword by Charles Stainback and Linda Sherer. 70 color. 7.75 x 11.25 in.

A great catalogue for a seemingly equally great show. I wish I had seen the Tang Museum's display but this catalogue is a good consolation prize.
