Deborah Wilde is a global wanderer and hopeless romantic. After twelve years as a screenwriter, she was also a total cynic with a broken edit button, so, she jumped ship, started writing funny, sexy, urban fantasy and paranormal women’s fiction books, and never looked back.
She loves writing smart, flawed, wisecracking women who can solve a mystery, kick supernatural butt, banter with hot men, and still make time for their best female friend, because those were the women she grew up around and admired. Granted, her grandmother never had to kill a demon at her weekly friend lunches, but Deborah is pretty sure she could have.
SLAY is a hot little number from the Nava Katz world but from Rohan's POV. I loved being in his head, even for as short time as this, and it was such a nice treat to have Wilde provide us with his perspective on Nava and a little insight to his feelings after some of the events of book one.
A little bit snarky, a lot of sexy, and with a hefty dose of demon asskickery. This novella was so much fun and has totally amped up my excitement for the sequel.. to eleven.
4.5 "this chick had never met an argument she didn't like and had no concept of an edit button" stars
This is a short story narrated by Rohan’s and it covers one hunting event before trip to Prague. This is a sizzling hot story, not for faint of heart. I still don’t understand Nava’s obsession with Rohan, but we all make mistakes, so I’ll hope that at some point she will move on. It was interesting to see Rohan’s point of view for a change, and although I still dislike him, maybe I dislike him a bit less after this story. The reading order is The Unlikeable Demon Hunter (Nava Katz, #1), Slay, An Unlikeable Demon Hunter Short Story (Nava Katz #1.5), The Unlikeable Demon Hunter: Sting (Nava Katz #2), Crush, An Unlikeable Demon Hunter Short Story (Nava Katz #2.5), The Unlikeable Demon Hunter: Need (Nava Katz #3), and Seize, An Unlikeable Demon Hunter Short Story (Nava Katz #3.5). I hope there will be more. Slay, Crush and Seize are available exclusively by joining the Wilde Ones newsletter on the author’s website.
This one sheds some light on Rohan's thoughts and feelings toward Nava, but I don't think it was really necessary. Nothing was said that I did not know already, and I could have easily gone without reading this novella and not miss anything.
Kindle Unlimited, the individual books and and the 3 pack*. #4 out soon. Got the .5 books as freebie for being subscriber and didn't realize at first had them but got lost in the shuffle of google drive.
On the trail of a serpent demon after hours at a swimming pool, things get hot and wet between Rohan and Nava. Told from Rohan's POV.
The Unlikeable Demon Hunter (Nava Katz Book 1)* The Unlikeable Demon Hunter novella Slay (Book #1.5) The Unlikeable Demon Hunter: Sting (Nava Katz Book 2)* The Unlikeable Demon Hunter: Crush (Nava Katz, 2.5) The Unlikeable Demon Hunter: Need (Nava Katz Book 3)* The Unlikeable Demon Hunter: Seize (Nava Katz, #3.5) The Unlikeable Demon Hunter: Crave (Nava Katz Book 4)
Nava and Rohan are going swimming in order to kill a couple of demons that have taken up residence in a local pool.
This is a quirky little interlude in the Nava Katz series, told from Rohan’s perspective. I enjoyed the brief insight into the indomitable Rasha’s mind. It’s clear that the guy is in danger of falling for the feisty, free speaking female, even if they are nothing more than friends with benefits.
Suggested Audience: Adult readers of Paranormal Romance Perspective: First person Profanity: Occasional Sexual content: Brief but detailed Violence: Brief and severe Note: This short story is currently only available if you sign up to the author’s newsletter.
This was just a short and sweet escapade between Nava and Rohan. However, I was entirely delighted to see that it was told from Rohan's POV. I had been dying to hear some of his thoughts and personal responses, however muted in presentation. This was a perfect peek into that.
The part of the plot with the actual demon hunting might have been a bit more well defined, as some of the details that might otherwise have been stunningly written in Book 1 were blurred.
However, given the excitement and focus of Slay, I still rank this short story highly.
It's okay, but I will never be impressed at the way the spoiled Boys Club decides it is a-okay to throw Nava into the deep end despite not getting the training they got. Everything about how they trained her makes it clear they'd be fine if she dies during training, since it would save them from having to work with a girl. I'll never forgive Rohan and Barusch for that in the first book, and this is more of the same from Rohan.
Yeah, he seems to be drawn to her. But he still behaves like all the rest of the spoiled pigs in the Boys Club.
A good short story, written from Rohan's point of view. It follows on nicely from Book 1 and helped to show how Rohan feels about Nava, while monster-hunting at a swimming pool. I enjoyed it as an extra and because it gives you a different perspective. It was free from Deborah's website and well worth reading
This was so cool. Everything is usually in Nava's point of view. I've been wondering, trying to guess if Rohan was just a horned dog or a good guy. Now I know. I'll see Rohan and Nava in a different light.
The story is prefunctory, but I always like a new POW. Actually I prefer books written in the 3rd person, so I can see into many characters thoughts. I would like it better if the books were from dual points of view.
I was expecting a whole lot more from this. I was really hoping it going to start with his first interaction with Nava. I would have liked to have seen her from someone else’s eyes.
Great short. It was an interesting POV from Rohan. It is always good to have a little point of view from the other person. It was a free download, from the author. Loved it ,too.
