An adventure is exactly what Cat Sidran wants when she and two friends charter a boat for a sailing trip in the Florida Keys. Throw in a swarthy captain, and Cat has the perfect amount of excitement. Until pirates overtake them, and Captain Javi Rivas reveals himself to be an FBI agent.
Working with Javi gives Cat a thrill like she's never felt before. She can handle danger for a couple of days if it means saving her friends, but anything longer... She loves her quiet life; Javi thrives on adrenaline. She needs to forget her captain...if that's even possible.
Very good story with lots of excitement and love. So glad Cat and Javi were able to overcome their past fears to be together. I just wonder what she will do with her Orchid business.
Couldn't put this one down. It's part of the Florida Files series in which we for Cat Sidran who, with two of her friends from college decide to charter a sailboat for a week-long sojourn to the Keys and back. That is, until cautious Cat is convinced that they should go to a Cay in the Bahamas. Together, they convince the captain, Javi Rivas, who's helping out a friend by taking the charter while the boat's owner is recovering from a heart attack.
Thus begins a tale replete with danger, a stormy boat ride and a pair of pirates who manage to take over the boat in order to escape from detection after they kill a Bahamian police officer. Fortunately for Cat, Javi isn't just a boat bum. He's an FBI agent on leave while recovering from an injury he keeps mum about until he has to convince Cat that he will rescue her and her friends, even if that outcome seems less likely by the minute.
In the face of certain death, Cat begins to exercise unknown strengths when she refuses to sit back and be taken care of. Instead, she takes chances she couldn't have imagined in years past, even if it means heartbreak if she lives to go back to raising orchids in her family greenhouse business. After all, Javi is an action junkie, totally the wrong man for her. Or so she thinks.
A story that took off at breakneck pace from Chapter 1 to the final page. A definite candidate to re-read.
