A Handful of Sunshine

Rate this book
The first time Veer set his eyes on Maia, he felt such an intense attraction that he was swept away by the magic. Strangely, Maia felt it too. Soon it became their lives. It was as if the only reality was this inexplicable force that drew them together.
However, just like the whirlwind that it was, it tore them apart. A tragedy caught them unawares and jolted them out of their stupor. What it left in its wake was hatred—as potent as their love.
Things did not end there. Several years later, fate played its dirty trick again and brought them face to face.
This time the choice was to let their hatred destroy them or to give love another chance.

Romantic lovestory about two people who fell in love in thier youth and broke up,run into each other again 8 years later and realise they were never really over it.
As the author says " You can never love the way you loved for the first time, for it is the only time that you love with an unbroken heart".
We root for them to get together again because the love they felt is unreal and heavenly. Which might be the problem. It is unreal. We fantasize about our first love. We only remember the good things they did for us and get used to living in a parallel universe of what ifs. We think time will heal and if we give it time, we will get over it. But, nothing's gonna happen by just giving it time. We have to do something about it.
Here there are, 8 years later, still blaming each other like they just broke up about how they broke each other's hearts. They give it a chance again, even though they are the same person they were, somehow they are not. Your core values might remain the same and the understanding between the two stays, but you cannot love them the same way you did with an unbroken heart anymore.
Both of them find someone else who love them to thier fullest and are willing to work on any unplanned bumps that come along the way.

When we are young, we believe that they will be a lot of people we can connect with but as you grow old, we realise it doesn't happen that often. Don't waste time on thinking about "what would've happened if" on your past mistakes. If they wouldn't have happened, you wouldn't be the person who you are now.

Veer and Mira loves each other. Even after 8 years of separation, when they meet again by chance, they start loving each other again even though they have their own life to live on. I think this is a kind of race going on in between the two characters of this fiction. Rest characters are just like supporting characters. Each and every time Veer and Mira engross into each other by some means.
I know Vikram Sir has directed many hit films and has written many stories for the films but, the catch of this novel is loose. It should be tight. I can't judge the reason behind the separation of these two lovers. First the girl tries of leave him and then same girl wants to come in his life. I am not saying that I didn't like this novel nor I am saying that this novel is not good. My point is that I cant still understand clearly the reason behind their separation. i think that reason should be strong.
I purchased the book by its Author and by it's Cover Page. Because Cover Page was looking so beautiful and attractive.
This book didn't disappoint me instead it entertained me. Those who likes Vikram Sir movies and are fan of Vikram Sir, should read this book. It will surely not going to disappointing you.
Also for those who reads fiction very much.

Genre- Fiction

Writing style- Narrative

Clap-clap- 'If I could rewind life and if destiny gave me a choice between not even meeting you, Mira, not having to deal with all this pain, I would choose meeting you. A lifetime of pain has been worth the way you look at me, the way you say my name, the way you hold my hand. . . Well, I can go on. . .' he forced a laugh to belittle himself and his emotional diatribe.

Description- This novel has made many people feel bad, because I cried a lot,a lot in that sense. I'm really trying to figure out why it didn't work out between Mira and Veer, but the reason is supernatural, the love was so pure and content that it couldn't be on this place. May be their love deserved a nicer place where things could be good and they could be wrapped in their arms. I'm no one but still this novel touched my heart, so as to convince me to read it more. I loved it.

Change level- 10/10

If I have to use one word to describe this book, then that eould be this: "Bollywood-ish". It has all the ingredients of a bollywood block-buster: a heroin who is "beautiful, petite and slender. Her long hair tumblimg carelessly over her shoulders snd back, eyes shining bright like they held a secret, and her full lips, red- with life, instead of lipstick." A hero who looks like "an angel from a Michelangelo painting". To make it more interesting, the novel also has another hero and another heroin in the side-role. The location changes from Mumbai to Switzerland, then London, and New-York in between. I can almost see the word "INTERMISSION" hovering before my eyes when the part of novel in Mumbai is over, with the break-up of the lead couple.

Anyway, nice storyline, a fast and easy read. Some quotes are really great to remember for a long time.

Well! Umm... A story can't be so hard to feel.when it's about love then it definitely gives you wings to fly. Attraction makes a way for two love birds to construct their story what they wish to have. Story of Veer & Mira is something that let you feel for them, their love for each other is set for lifetime. But a whirlwind in their lives tears them apart and leaves them in a random situation. After eight long years when their fate again brings them back in London for a business purpose, time wants to go back to those younger days but there is no way to go back. Their hatred for each other once jolts them out of their dream but should it get another chance to fade them?
