Indigo Bay #1

Sweet Dreams

Rate this book
Ever since her twin became a singing sensation, Sky Hampton has struggled to be appreciated for who she is—apart from her sister. She wards off Aspen’s fans, who beg for autographs and selfies everywhere Sky goes. She can’t even find a guy who likes her for her. Sky flees to the small coastal town of Indigo Bay in hopes of blending in and building her blossoming career.

Jace Fisher is the textbook definition of the strong silent type—nobody can break through his tough exterior. He has suffered more than his fair share of tragedies, and to protect his shattered heart, he pushes everyone away. Jace spends his days fixing the Indigo Bay cottages, and his nights… nobody really knows. He keeps to himself.

When Jace shows up to fix Sky’s AC, he barely notices her and she’s distracted with settling in. It takes an emergency situation to get them talking, and when they do, the two find they have more in common than first appeared. As their attraction grows, defenses soar. Will they be able to risk love when they’ve both been burned in the past?

This is the first book in the Indigo Bay Sweet Romance series (a story world created by six fabulous authors) as well as a spinoff from USA Today bestselling author Stacy Claflin's Hunters series. This sweet romance is a standalone, and can be read on its own.

Sky Hampton is tired of living in her sister's shadow. In need of a fresh start, she heads to Indigo Bay in hopes of finding some place to settle down and continue building her career.

Jace Fisher has been hurt one too many times. In order to keep his heart safe, he does his best to keep to himself. He can't handle any more heartache.

When Sky and Jace first meet, they are too distracted with what's going on to really see each other. But when an emergency strikes, they can't help but notice each other. The more time they spend together, the more they want to see where everything will lead.

But with past hurts at the forefront of their minds, they are both afraid to get too close to the other. Will they be able to let go and open up in order to get their own HEA? Or will misunderstandings and drama keep them apart?

I really enjoyed Sweet Dreams! What a great start to a fun, new series! I am really looking forward to reading the other books!

Stacy Claflin is quickly becoming a favorite author of mine! I have really enjoyed all the books I have read so far and can't wait to read more by her! :)

And of course no review of mine would be complete without my casting. What do you think?!

So not good. Was this a story about adults or teens in high school? I can't believe I actually read this whole book. Sorry, but this read like one of those Sweet Valley High books we read years ago in school. Story and protagonists lacked character and depth. Speaking of story, the premise is that Sky moves away to a new place, Indigo Bay, where no one knows her with the hopes that she will not be recognized as the twin sister of a major singer/actress, Aspen; she doesn't want to live under her sister's shadow anymore or be mobbed for selfies and autographs from fans thinking she's Aspen; and she wears large sunglasses and hats so she won't be recognized. If this is the case, then why in the world does she have a blog with a huge following where she posts pictures of herself, her dog, the cottage she's staying in, the cute stores and the beaches of Indigo Bay?! With all that and her personal comments about everything she does in and around Indigo Bay, how the hell does she expect not to be recognized?! It makes absolutely no bloody sense! Major eye-rolls happening here.

I was given an advance copy to read for my opinion.
Wow, this book was a really fast read, maybe because I couldn't put it down.

I enjoyed the book. The story was a sweet romance with a hint/slight touch of passionate kissing. It told of a girl trying to escape being seen as someone else and a guy trying to keep his wall up against love due to past heartache. In the end it was a nice clean read. I especially liked how the male character did little things to show his love and caring for her that were nice sediments and not the typical gifts. He did some typical too, but he showed his love for her in multiple, more unique ways.

I loved how a character in the book doesn't gossip and helps put an end to the misled "stardom" of the lead character, but then also says some things about the male character, but not too much to give his life challenges away to her. It was like she was the town mommy looking out for everyone's best interest, but in a good way.

Overall I would recommend it to others and am looking forward to more books in the series. I tried not to give away all the book, hence the words male and female characters. :)

Reviewed at Romance Is Ageless

I’m really looking forward to the Indigo Bay series, not only because I love this type of multi-author series set in one town – but also because I get to read authors that I haven’t discovered yet. That is always an eye opener for me, I often find myself going “Why did I not know about this author?!” You, too? That’s why I enjoy multi-author series.

Sweet Dreams starts off the series, and I can already tell you that I’ve got a boatload of titles from Stacy Claflin to read. I enjoyed the story she wove for Jace and Sky. so much hurt for these two that it simply makes your heart ache. Sky is the twin sister of a famous, popular singer and actress. She is often mistaken for Aspen and feels quite in her sister’s shadow, feeling that everyone is always comparing them and that she is coming off as the short stick. I had empathy for her, Sky is trying to begin a life away from the limelight of her sister, away from cheating former boyfriends and to decide if she wants to settle into this charming seaside town. Sky is funny, caring and a likable character – until she pulled the one stunt that I cannot stand in any person (fictional or real life). I’ll let you discover that moment for yourself, but I’ll bet you know exactly when it happens. I feel badly about it but I never looked at Sky with the same eyes again.

Jace has gone through so much in a few short years. You’ll discover his heartaches, and they are enough to bring down anyone into the depths of despair. He will face some strong truths, discover that his heart can feel once again and begins to fall for Sky. Jace is one of the good guys and Sky will bring him back to life again. You’ll also find lively secondary characters – the meddlesome gossip, a bully, the town welcoming committee and others that I’m certain we’ll get to know more about as the series continues. I enjoyed this world very much and I’d definitely recommend this story to any Contemporary Romance reader. Even though I’m getting a late start I’m certainly looking forward to reading more from Indigo Bay.

Oh, I love the covers for this series. They remind me of lovely watercolor paintings of the beach.

I own a Kindle edition of this title.

3.5, rounding up

I'm super excited about this new Indigo Bay series! Different authors are writing the books but it's all set in the same town. These kinds of series are fun because you can find new authors to love or enjoy the ones you already know and love. My only little tiny complaint is that the books are just novellas and I'm always left longing for just a bit more. I've been reading a LOT of novellas lately and I'm wishing authors would get back to those full length novels I love. Even in a collection series like these.

Stacy Claflin is not a new author to me. I've read many of her books and I've enjoyed them- especially her clean romance line and the Hunter's series. This book is a spin-off from that series but obviously can stand alone.

I love the setting for this series. What could be better than a cute little town with a beach? In this book, Sky is escaping her life before, holing up and trying to figure out where she wants to be. Jace is the handiest of handy men, working on the property Sky is staying at. I loved their initial attraction and interest in each other and how that progressed into a very normal dating situation.

There was one scene that I didn't love where Sky is pitching a fit and refuses to tell Hunter why she is upset. It felt so out of character for Sky and so juvenile. I didn't like it and it clouded me toward Sky after that. But Jace? I loved him from beginning to end. He's a good guy all the way around.

I liked this book and it definitely peaked my interest in this series. I'm looking forward to reading the other books- up next for me is Sweet Regrets by Jennifer Peel but that one isn't until June. I can't wait though!!

Love's First Kiss Heartwarming romance. A well written, lighthearted romance with two wonderful characters, actually three including the great state of Texas. The well thought out plot and developed characters keep the reader in suspense until the book ends, which is way to soon since the story is so good. Ms. Claflin never fails to deliver a good story and I look forward to reading more of her books.

Sweet Dreams - Another fun romance with some of the gang from Bayside. A well written, funny, intriguing romance that grabs you from the first chapter and doesn't let go. It has touches of sadness, but the well developed plot and characters keeps the story moving till the end. The main female character, and her twin, and a visiting friend were first introduced in the Bayside series. Ms. Claflin always delivers a wonderful love story. I contacted the author to review her books.

Sweet Desire - Awesome, hope there's more. A well written, intriguing, suspense fantasy with tension and a well developed paranormal cast. The author created a story that pulls you in and doesn't let you go. If you enjoy Butcher and C. Harris, you will enjoy Sweet Desire.

I didn't appreciate Lost Wolf, which is a spinoff of this story concerning the werewolf members, but this story has to develop into a series with the main character. I contacted the author to review her books since I've never been disappointed, except once - Lost Wolf, with her work.

This author is a favorite deliverer of a good, sweet, clean romance and this start to a new series is no exception. I'm looking forward to reading more about the characters in Indigo Bay, especially as each book is written by a different author. That always adds some flavor to the setting.

In this one, Book One, Sky and Jace each have some emotional baggage to finally put to rest. I love their occupations, as well as the animals and the relationship that Sky forges with Claire--so sweet! There's the stereotypical small town gossip and bully characters, but there are also some great, quirky characters. This couple is hesitant to fall in love again, yet who can resist charm and chemistry? Don't worry--there's plenty of both. The romance happens fairly quickly, but is utterly believable with swoony sparks that forced me to cheer them on.

The story went by really fast for me and followed a standard formula, yet there are a few twists to make it unique. What is it about miscommunication? That right there is a driving force to the drama and conflict. Although it's not a long book, it's balanced and felt complete. I adore this fictional small town and I'm already looking forward to revisiting.

Content: mild romance (kissing)

*I received an ARC, which did not affect my opinion. All thoughts are my own.*

.Sweet Dreams: Indigo Bay Sweet Romance Series Book 1 is by Stacy Claflin. It is a cute romance that is fairly predictable. It is short enough to read in one sitting and yet long enough to include a lot of action. It is well-written and definitely realistic.
Sky Hampton has come to Indigo Bay to hopefully find a place to live as herself. She is tired of being compared to and mistaken for her twin sister, Ashton. Ashton is a big star and since they look alike, Sky is often mistaken for her. She just wants to be loved for herself. A friend told her about Indigo Bay so she left Seattle to see if this could be the pace she was looking for.
She checks into the resort at Indigo Bay and immediately feels at home, except for the humidity. She has her constant companion, Pixie with her. She immediately has problems with the AC and calls for assistance. Jace Fisher, the handyman, comes to fix the AC and is drawn to her. However, Jace is still not over his fiancé leaving him at the altar and running off with his best friend. He doesn’t trust woman.
As Sky gets to know Jace, she finds he is a delightful and gentlemanly companion. Both of them have to fight off their own demons before they can come together as a couple. They bring out the best in each other; but is that enough?

Sweet Dreams is a sweet story about a twin trying to step out of her sister’s shadow. After living behind her sister for so long Sky is looking for a place to become her own person. That is not easy when your twin is a well known singer and tv star and you are identical.

Enter Jace Fisher. He has been living a shell of a life until he knocks on Sky’s door and is instantly attracted. I LOVED these two together. I LOVED that they didn’t rush their relationship. It was hot, steamy, and sweet. There was attraction and sparks but these sparks didn’t lead to instant bedtime. Their relationship was getting to know each other understanding each other and falling in love. The love happens quickly but it was real. There was no doubt that it was true.

Stacy Claflin has written an amazing story about two characters that I wanted to be friends with. They are realistic and living in a world that anyone could be in. There is friendships, new beginnings, falling in love, and healing within the Sweet Dreams story. This is the perfect book for the romantics looking for a fun and easy read.

Thank you Stacy Claflin for a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Stacy Claflin has become a "go to" writer for me anytime I want a sweet HEA. Sweet Dreams is the first book in the new Indigo Bay series. Sky Hampton has gone to Indigo Bay to see if she likes the small town well enough to move there. She's anxious to get away from her twin sister's fans. They constantly mistake her for her famous sister & guys try to date her to get close to her sister.

Jace Fisher is the handyman for the cottage that Sky is renting. He is quiet & withdrawn but a town favorite. Jace has had a lot of tragedy in his life in a very short time frame. Jace & Sky are drawn to each other but are extremely cautious. Their attraction is apparent & leads them to spending time together despite their cautious nature.

This was a great start to a new series. Jace & Sky are both damaged emotionally from events in their past & find it hard to trust. The writer does an excellent job of describing the events that have contributed to their nature & the struggle they go through to reach outside themselves. Both characters have to find the courage to trust the other & their feelings. This was a really sweet, clean read that I think everyone will enjoy.

Sweet dreams is a perfectly named book. Sky Hampton has a good life. She makes a successful living from her blog and videos. She has good friends and family and an adorable dog, Pixie. There's only one thing wrong. She's a twin, and her twin Aspen is a world famous singer and budding actress. Sky has lost her identity to her sister. Fans constantly mistake her for Aspen hounding her for photos and autographs. Men and women want to be her friend to get close to Aspen. Even worse men want to date her fantasizing that she is Aspen. She has uprooted her life to try to find herself again. She's relocated to a small, picturesque coastal town, Indigo Bay. Jake is a local; the handyman to the cottages Sky has rented. He's gruff and standoffish. He has seen more hurt in the last 4 years than any person should have to shoulder. It has left him unwilling to open up to anyone. He hasn't even noticed a woman in 4 years, until he sees Sky. She takes his breath away and brings back feelings he wanted to bury forever. These two could be perfect for one another and things move fast between them, but they each have emotional baggage that may come between them.

Sky and Jake are both wonderful characters. She is so sweet and so hopeful. He is also sweet, but has lost his hope. You can't help but root for these two. They both want a simple life. Ideally this life would be shared with one they love. However, they both will need to learn how to trust, communicate, let go of their past if they want to be together. I loved this book. The town was charming, it's citizens were mostly lovely. The simple acts of kindness sprinkled throughout the book were appreciated. It left me with a smile on my face. Whole-heartedly recommend.

Stacy Claflin has written another emotional and heart warming story. We follow Sky as she packs up her life and drives to the spectacular town of Indigo Bay.
Arriving at her cabin she won't take off her sunglasses so people won't mistake her for her sister, all she wants in life is people to see her for herself and jot her famous sister.
On her first day her air conditioner breaks and she meets Jace, the handyman, he doesn't think she's her sister and treats her like a normal person.
We follow this amazing story of Sky and Jace along with the other residents of Indigo Bay, here's to the next book. Well Done Stacy Claflin

This book was a great start to a new series. I loved the characters of Indigo Bay, with their colorful natures that you'd expect to find in a small town. Jace and Sky's romance had to overcome plenty of obstacles, but when they were both able to set their baggage aside, they were such a sweet couple. The story was a great romance and would be a perfect, fun beach read. I can't wait to see what's next for the residents of Indigo Bay in the next book.

I received an advanced reader copy of this book and voluntarily provided this honest review.

A nice start to a new series. This is a very sweet and clean, wholesome romance with a heat index of 1. Sky and Jace are very endearing and are a perfect balance to the other. Both of them have issues to overcome and find that maybe now is a good time as ever to retry the whole relationship thing. This story is fast-paced but complete with a heaping dose of insta-love which was well-executed by Ms. Claflin.

Please note that an ARC was generously provided in exchange for an honest review of which this is both honest and completely voluntary.

A very sweet story about a girl living in her celebrity twin sisters shadow including guys going out with her for that reason. She moves to Indigo Bay and meets a broken man who is afraid to love anyone. They both are able to bring healing to each other even though some people in the small town throw kinks into their relationship. I really liked this story. I received an advance copy with no obligation and this is my honest opinion.

What a great start to a new series of books.

The scene is set in a nice small town, Indigo Bay, with two great main characters.

Sky is sweet and has her own successful blog but still feels like she's in the shadow of her twin sisters fame. Jace has suffered loss and betrayal from those closest to him all in a short time frame and is feeling very wounded and not worthy of love. These two come together and find out that they are both worthy of love and good things.

Indigo Bay is a wonderful place with wonderful people. That's what Sky is been told. She is looking for a place to star a life away from her sister's fame, a place where she can fit. Jace is hiding from the world in Indigo Bay, his town from childhood, but the one place that has seen him through all the pain he has suffered. They met and the connection is fast and strong, but can they face their own demons and be happy together? A very touching and loving story.

Sky is a blogger and has moved to Indigo Bay with her little dog Pixie. She is looking for a place where she won't be mistaken for her twin sister who is a singer and now actress.
Jace is the handyman at her cottage. He has been betrayed by his fiance and best friend. Can he let Sky in?
Stacy has written a sweet love story that is both heartbreaking and wonderful.
I would highly recommend this book and series.

I loved both the characters and the plot, and the author did a great job of realistically portraying many things others find difficult. The book had a great start, interesting backstories, an in-depth story line, and perfect descriptions. It's one of the books that gets you attached to the protagonists and plays with your emotions throughout the book. If you like well-written, can't-put-it-down books, this is for you!

This author is one of my favorites and she didn't disappoint with this first in the series. Sky and Jace have hurts that define their present but will they let them affect their possible future together? Sweet read that deals with romance but other relationships as well. Forgiveness can be so hard to not only give but receive. Glad the angst was short.

Light Romance

Both Sky and Have built emotional walls around their hearts. Sky erected walls as a result of living in her sister's shadow. Jade's walls develop after several tragedies befall him. Well, Indigo Bay is the place to go for hearts to heal and lobe to blossom. This novel goes nicely with chilled wine and a warm beach☺.

Childlike

Obviously this is a book that is for middle school girls. As much as I love a good beach read, this was so predictable and immature. Very disappointed. I thought I would be able to grab the entire series, but it couldn't hold my attention. The only solid character was Claire from the little bistro

What a perfect love story!

I loved the ups and downs of this story! There were times I wanted to shake sense into both Jace and Sky! I especially wanted to trip Alisha for lying to Sky about her and Jace’s “wedding”. The heartache she caused Sky and Jace was inexcusable. I’m so happy they finally found happiness in each other ❣️

This was a quick, cute and clean romance story. The only thing that really bugged me was the argument the characters had- it was the most childish stupid thing I have ever read. I can’t imagine even teenagers arguing like that. That aside, I liked the book.
