****CONTAINS AN ELEMENT OF PHYSICAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL ABUSE, AND IS THEREFORE ONLY RECOMMENDED TO READERS OVER THE AGE OF 18****
They say that old habits die hard, and twenty-seven-year-old, Kady Jenson, is about to discover how very true that statement is.
Waking up in the hospital with a complete stranger at her bedside should have caused panic and confusion, but for some unknown reason to her, Kady finds the company of the rugged, and devastatingly handsome man simply irresistible. And that Irish brogue. Oh, my word!
It’s only when she discovers that she has just awoken from a four-day coma, with a three-year void in her memory, that brings on her panic and confusion.
Kady soon comes to realize that things change with time, not only appearances. And if that wasn’t enough the sexual chemistry she once shared with her boyfriend, now so long ago, and she begins to fall back into buried habits unconsciously, each day, the growing sense of foreboding becomes increasingly harder to ignore. Kady is left on her own when her boyfriend goes on a business trip; she takes it upon herself to find her Irish Stranger which sends them on a quest, in a race against time, to piece the puzzle back together.

I suppose my life could be described as a romance novel itself. Life has many twists and turns, many forks in the road, and numerous bumps. But we learn and we grow.
I am a firm believer in, 'your life is what you make it', And I am greatful for the two important people in my life that taught me that approach. May they be watching me now.

I married my childhood sweetheart, and had he gifted me with a son...everything has a Happy Ever After, you just need to believe in it.

Yes, I ramble, and at times it is a challenge to shut me up.

Apart from the obvious duties in life, writing is the only thing that I can sit and concentrate on without contemplating all the other things I should/could be doing. If I'm not writing...I'm thinking about writing, usually with a coffee in my hand.

I always start the day with a coffee, and a motivational quote. It really does help.

Boston

description

Kady wakes up in a Boston Hospital.

She doesn't know who the hot guy with the Irish accent is, who is sitting at her bed.

But he's not her boyfriend Liam. That much she knows. But that's basically all she knows - the last 3 years have been wiped from her memory.

Liam takes her home. A home that she doesen't know. It's not their small apartment in her beloved neighborhood anymore - it's a big house in a weird quiet neighborhood with overly nosey neighbors.

Weirdest thing of all?? She's not working as a stripper anymore. She's a baker now - Liam tells her she has her own cake-shop! She couldn't even fry an egg 3 years ago, and now she's baking and decorating cakes?

Her face and body seem to have aged more than than they should have in three years - and what's with the new 'marks' on her body?

Lots of things don't make sense to her - lots of lies seem to come out of Liam's mouth. And everything about Liam seems a bit off. He's different than she remembers.

The only good thing about her life seems to be the irish guy: Walker. He's working construction for Liam's company.

But her growing feelings toward Walker are wrong. She's with Liam.....

I felt slightly unnerved by the feelings that were stirring inside of me, feelings that should be aimed towards my boyfriend, not his hot-as-fuck Irish employee.

description

But what happened in the last 3 years??

Why does Walker act so familiar with her? Why is he always there - ready to protect her and comfort her?

Will Kady find out what happend during the time that's missing from her memory??
Will everybody die at the end? ☺☺☺
Will there be a Cliffhanger????

I'm not telling you of course ☺☺☺

description

Ok - I might tell you that, since there will be more books coming, there will be much more to tell!

BUT there's no Cliffhanger really .... no one is literally hanging from a cliff ...

BUT - you really want to keep on reading to find out what happened during the last 3 years and more importantly to find out what will happen next ☺

_____________________________

I REALLY ENJOYED READING THE BOOK!!!

I first thought - meh - I have read a few of those 'wakes-up-in-the-hospital-not-knowing-who-she-is' books. And I liked them, but I didn't really know what was expecting me here.

This book keeps you really interested. You HAVE to know what happened and what will happen.

You immediately start to like Kady - she's not the sweet innocent girlie, like heroines in so many other books. She's angry and sad and mad at the universe.
But more interesting for the female reader of course is the fact that we immediately LOVE Walker ☺
We have no idea what he's about, where he comes from (other than from Ireland that is). We just know that he's there for Kady, but she doesn't remember him. She just knows that she can trust him.
Not so much with Liam. He's acting so weird and everything that he tells her about the last 3 years (which isn't a lot) doesn't make much sense to her.

...he was coming across as though he wanted me to be this delicate, helpless person, to have me thrown into the deep end with only him as my life raft.

There were some moments for me when I really wanted to do that....

description

to some of the characters - Kady included!!! ☺

The story gets more interesting with every page that you read...

WE REALLY NEED TO FIND OUT WHAT HAPPENED
to Kady in the time she lost and how Walker plays into that!!!!

For my tastes there could've been a bit more sexiness in the book - but I also totally get why there isn't ... Liam is not the old Liam anymore and Walker is still a stranger - so, who should she be having sex with ☺ But I hope that book #2 will be a bit sexier!!!!

What the reader really notices is that the story means a lot to the author - could be personal experience that she put into it - or just experiences from friends and family - but this whole book really means something! There's a message in here for people with similar 'problems'. ♥

Seeking Nirvana was a really interesting Mystery Romance!

Now I can't wait for the next book to come out!!!!!

description

I'm really excited to read what will happen to Kady & Walker next!

There isn't an author out there who fails to fall in love with his/her characters. You spend every waking and sleeping minute with them so me writing a review on my own work may seem a little biased.

Despite that, I just wanted to take a moment to inform you that, Seeking Nirvana is entirely different from my debut. I have had so much fun experimenting with my writing, and different foundations which relationships are built on. In writing this story, a line which has been the topic of controversy for quite some time, is being toed.

Due to the nature of The Dark Evoke Series, it is NOT intended for readers under the age of 18.

Seeking Nirvana is a little dark. The one thing I love is, the further into The Dark Evoke Series you go, the darker it gets.
It's going to be one Hell of a journey.

*****5 IRISH STARS*****

I have the pleasure of speaking to this lovely lady on Facebook. She is awesome and such a laugh!
I loved this book from start to finish. I keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout the book.

This book follows Kady, we meet her when she has just woken up from a 4 day coma in hospital. She had a bad car accident, and she wakes up and has lost 3 years worth of memories.
3 years is a lot of memories to lose, she is confused and scared. She knows she is still with her long term boyfriend Liam! (I would love to punch him)
We meet Walker or Irish as Kady likes to call him, aye! He is just yummy. He is one of those characters that you just love instantly and keep loving them throughout the book.
Kady doesn't remember Walker, he tells her they meet 18 months ago.

Liam is hiding a lot of secrets from Kady. She feels that he is keeping things from her so is dependent on him. She doesn't like it. She realises a lot has changed with herself throughout the 3 years she can't remember. She hates the new wardrobe she has come to have.
This book takes you on so many twist and turns you just don't see them coming. Some are good and some are bad.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book from start to finish. It ended on such a cliffhanger that I can't wait to dive into Eluding Nirvana which is the 2nd book in the series.
Victoria has done an excellent job of writing a gripping story. If you haven't read this book then WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?

You all need some Walker in your life, aye.

This is my first time reading this author who is also relatively new to me. The title is what intrigued me to want to read it also. Right away I am transported into a passionate plea in a hospital room then next someone's battle to wake up. Interesting to say the least this has caught my attention right away and the many possibilities this author trigged in my mind so sit down I do to see where this author will take me. The main characters I am introduced to are Kady,Liam and some guy with a voice I personally could hear for hours because he has a Irish lilt who is Walker. Kady has just woken up after being in a coma but it is revealed she is also though missing some memory of a few years. I think that would be a tough situation to handle for most so right away have come to sympathize with her. This is not as I continue reading it would appear going to be your A typical story either which I find most refreshing since I am a reader of many years. Also right away I find myself already liking Walker but for some reason resenting Liam but it appears that is who Kady knows and loves. By now also since this author has that ability these characters have life and am now hunkered down for this journey going with the flow of this novel. The revelations that are revealed in here as she continues day to day are righteously good reading with me the spectator in a tennis match looking to Kady,Liam and Walker as this story unfolds. Of course there are also some great supporting characters that are much needed as she rediscovers who she was while also reconnecting with the memories that do try and trickle in like a red flag waving danger danger watch out for Liam lol. This is one intriguing storyline that you really read because of the way this is written. Since I am a long time reader it takes quite alot for a author to keep my attention plus also I sometimes have the ability to guess what will happen next but not so the guessing part that is with this novel. That along is like gold in the book world to me. Since once I picked it up it did not take me long to breeze through this with the way the author carried me that once I reached the last page I must say I have understood the title but hope the author does not take too long in delivering mine with her next installment to this series. Received a arc for a honest review.

In Seeking Nirvana, we are introduced to Kady, a 27 year old girl that wakes up after four days in a coma, realizing she has lost 3 years of her life. Awaking to Liam and a handsome man named Walker, Kady has no idea what is going on. When asked what the last thing she remembered was, it was when she was 24 and in a totally different place in her life. Kady was a dancer at Red Velvet, had a fantastic boyfriend Liam and her gal pal Liv. Who after one scene in the book, I don't see how Kady even considered her a friend. Yuck. I would have been done with her.

Now she is in a different house, different town and her closet is full of clothes she has no recollection of. Kady's parents came to visit while she was in the hospital, however she hadn't heard from them again until she reached out. The more she is shown of her life, the more she is confused. Liam isn't offering up many answers to her questions and Kady starts getting scared to keep asking due to his reactions. A stranger in her own skin, Kady starts to actually feel uncomfortable around Liam and uses his business trip as a chance to get some answers.

As uncomfortable as she feels with Liam, the opposite can be said about Walker the Irish man. Kady feels totally comfortable around this man and due to the fact that Liam absolutely hates him, she knows there is something more to it. Walker and Kady get close while Liam is gone. We get glimpses of Kady's past through flashbacks or memories, but nothing to help piece this puzzle together.

I would consider this book a mystery. While it has a titch of romance, what keeps you reading it trying to figure out what in the heck is going on. I was starting to get frustrated while reading because instead of answers, the more you read, the more questions you have. The ending took such a weird turn, I just closed my Kindle to ponder what in the heck just happened.

Seeking Nirvana is perfectly written, very descriptive dialogue which I enjoy. I would consider this the set up book to the series as all we are left with are questions, no answers. I will definitely be looking for the next book to see how it all plays out.

I was Given this as an ARC for an honest review I love this Book I might be a bit biased as the Author is a great friend of mine but here goes This book is so different from her debut Novel impulses which is also a great read The main characters are Kady Liam and Walker the sexy Irishman

:

We start of in the hospital where Kady wakes up after a 4 day coma only to have lost 3 years worth of memory’s when she wakes up Liam is by her side and a stranger or so she thinks as she can’t remember him this book had me hooked from the start I connect with the characters right away I felt poor Kadys emotions as she struggles to try and remember who she is and why she feels like things aren’t as they seem this book will have you on the edge of your seat This book keeps you really interested. You HAVE to know what happened and what will happen.

I felt slightly unnerved by the feelings that were stirring inside of me, feelings that should be aimed towards my boyfriend, not his hot-as-fuck Irish employee.

A Few Questions i kept asking myself

Will Kady ever remember the 3 years she has lost?
Who or What is Walker to her?
Is Liam the guy that he makes out to be?
Why does Kady feel things are wrong?
Where does Walker come into all this?
What is everyone hiding from Kady?

This book is a must read and I am loving where this book is going and I really can’t wait for next instalment ( well you will I have read it lucky me so I know what happens but I cant say you have to read to find out ) this book is full of mystery and you will keep guessing till the end but very very good read you have to read it

There’s is a small Cliff-hanger but no one is literally hanging from a cliff ...

BUT - you really want to keep on reading to find out what happened in the 3 years she is missing.....More importantly to find out what will happen next?

"Alright darlin..."

IMG_0482.JPG

Have you read this yet?
Bloody hell, if you haven't you definitely need to bump it up on your TBR and make sure that it's the next book you read.

Seeking Nirvana was an absolute pleasure to read. I was captivated right from the very first page. Be warned, you will get goosebumps throughout.

First we meet Kady when she has just woken from a coma and lost three years of her life... Just like that, all of the memories that she made within those three years have vanished.
Confused? Scared? Unsure? A big fat yes to all three, but what will it take to unlock the hidden truths of her past and what will she discover?

We soon meet Irish... Hello sexy!!! You will love him instantly. Definitely a new hot book boyfriend of mine and because I'm quite generous I'm willing to share him with you. ❤️
To be honest I'm quite tempted to go out and look for my very own Irish, but I don't think my hubby would be too happy about that so instead I'm relishing in everything Victoria creates.

This was my first dark read and it really had me gripped. Victoria keeps you guessing throughout and the webs of mystery that she creates are utterly flawless and this book is beautifully written too.

I cannot wait for Eluding Nirvana to see what happens next. I know that's it's going to be just as good as book one if not more enthralling.

From me, this book gets a mahoosive five big IRISHLY sexy stars from me!!!!

I am sat shaking and crying at the end of Seeking Nirvana. Part of me wants to pick up Eluding Nirvana straight away, but another part of me feels so torn apart that I cannot form a coherent thought.
I identify with Kady on a personal level, although I've never had amnesia, I have suffered the way she has from traumatic experiences at the hands of a so-called "loved one".
I even identify with the connection she has with Walker. I completely understand it from a personal point of view.
What happened to Kady brought back horrific memories and I hope her tormentor goes to Hell in a hand basket. It's more than he deserves.

This book is written so damn well. The author draws you in in an instant and has your emotions in a jumble until the end.
I don't know whether or not the author has drawn on personal experiences or a lot of research for this book. I hope she has never been through what Kady has, because I know what it's like to be there.
This story took me back to those dark days in my life and it haunted me throughout, knowing that Kady feels helpless and powerless over her own life.
I wished I could reach into the pages and pull her from despair. Alas, I was not able to do so and felt like a powerless bystander looking in on her life.
I truly hope she finds peace. For herself, for her heart and for her soul.

Well done VL Brock for the execution of this tumultuous story.
I look forward to meeting you at the signing in July 2015. I want to tell you face to face what a vile piece of scum I think Liam is.

I have bookhanger...

V.L writes in such a captivating way, I truly felt Kady's pain, confusion, and heartache - over and over!

Honestly? I didn't know what to expect going into this - the title isn't a giveaway, like lots of books out there, and the cover has an air of intrigue and mystery that continues throughout the story.

Upon waking up in hospital Kady is confused... and has lost three years of her life! Her boyfriend is at her side, but something feels different and then there's the Irish rogue that her mind knows, but she doesn't know.

At first, I couldn't understand why no one will tell her what happened, and the fact she doesn't fight harder to find out did leave me wanting to scream at her (more than once), BUT I soon realised this is probably where the story is heading and her 'new' passive / submissive attitude is a hint of things to come (and things that happened in the three year 'gap'.

Walker is a breath of fresh air to your usual alpha / damaged man turned good. I liked that V.L doesn't give away too much about him... BUT then wham bam last couple of chapters DID NOT see that coming.

A beautifully written story, heading into what I fear will be an even darker read... but I can't wait.

Solid 4.5 stars!

I was gifted a copy of "Seeking Nirvana" in exchange for an honest review by the author.
WOW, I am totally in love with this series and already can not wait for the next book.
Victoria is an amazingly versatile author. I was completely sucked in from the very first page and on the edge of my seat throughout the entire book. From the very get go, i was mystified as to what happened to Kady. What occurred while she was in the coma? What is going on between her and her husband Liam, did she have an affair with Walker? The suspension just further continues once Kady is discharged from the hospital. She has no recollection of her past and only knows what little Liam is telling her. Even knowing he is her husband and she remembers being in love with him, she continues to get a feeling that he is not being completely honest with her. Will she ever regain her memory and be able to put together the puzzle pieces that seem to be her life??? I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading romance or suspense novels.

**I was lucky enough to receive an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

What is there to say about Seeking Nirvana, other than it was FANTASTIC! This book sucked me in from the beginning and I couldn’t get enough of it. The author definitely has a way with words and I felt that we really get to know Kady and feel all her feels. I can’t really write this review on the book without giving too much away but it is worth all 5 stars!!

From the moment you start reading this story, you want to know what happened. What happened in the three years Kady can’t remember? Why is she acting the way she is when she can’t remember being that way? FOR GOD’S SAKE, WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN?!?! This suspenseful romance is filled with surprises until the end. While I wanted to bitch slap all the characters at one point or another, I loved Kady and Mr. Irish (he is delicious). I highly recommend this book. It is an excellent read and perfect length with great writing.

Seeking Nirvana By V L Brock

I'm so glad I came across this author, as this book was brilliant.

Kady can't remember, waking up in a hospital bed, with a strange man sitting beside her kady should feel worried but she don't. Walker is something, with his brooding good looks. But who is he and why is he sitting next to her bed.

What kady is more concerned with is the last three years that are lost to her.
Liam is kady's boyfriend well that's what she remembers. Kady knows it's Liam but something is different about him.

This story takes you on an emotional journey, it keeps you gripped. With its twist and turns your seeking what kady is seeking page after page you just want more.

This book confused me it blew my mind and I freaking loved it.

Imagine waking up in the hospital and not knowing how you got there. The last thing Kady remember is celebrating her 24th birthday. She is frustrated and confused that she doesn’t remember anything from that time. Her boyfriend or the man she remember being her boyfriend she there but so is another man Walker. When she is released Liam takes her home on the way he shows her the business she owns. The only problem is that he takes her home in a car she doesn’t remember buying, to a bakery when she can’t even boil, and to a neighborhood she would never want to live in. She asks questions to try to remember things but the only person she can ask doesn’t really answer her questions. She is beginning to feel trapped in her life. As time goes by she gets this sense of dread. Liam has to go on a business trip and she decides to use the time he is gone to try and remember the last few years. She isn’t prepared for what she learns or how Liam is when he returns. I really enjoyed this book. It was emotional and I could feel her confused while reading. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series. I loved the Walker character. He turned out different than I expected him to be but I still loved him. I was worried about Liam from the beginning of the book. Katy was by far my favorite character. She was determined to find out how her life changed so much from what she could last remember. She didn’t just sit around complaining and crying that she couldn’t remember. She may not have liked what she found out but she didn’t let someone else decide how she was going to live just because she couldn’t remember. V. L. Brock is a great author. The book was so well written and I totally connected with the characters.

I was given this book in return for an honest review.

I've loved Victoria's writing only for a short time but in the time I've known her I can see she has so much passion for her work and the passion from her family show in her writing ! I must admit this wasn't what I was expecting from her second novel . I was expecting something similar to Impulses , yes it's a love story but with a dark twist . Kady wakes up in hospital to find three years of her life are missing . Beside her are Liam her boyfriend and a sexy Irishman named Walker . Walker looks sadden at the thought of Kady remembering Liam as her boyfriend and him as a construction worker . Somehow Kady knows there's something about Walker that's got her thinking but what is it ?

Apologies to Victoria for not posting this sooner , but I have no other explanation than I read the first three chapters and couldn't get into it ONLY because I was expecting Impulses all over again and this book is not that at all . But saying that , I can't but again fall in love with the main characters ; Walker and Kady and loath Liam . Emotions like sadness , fright , anger , happiness , pity and hopefulness are only a few that I went through while reading this book and am glad to say that second time around I couldn't put it down until I'd finished it .

Another excellent book from a very talented and versatile lady .

Seeking Nirvana by V.L. Brock is a dark and twisted story about Kady and her boyfriend Liam with a mystery Irishmen named Walker thrown into the mix. At the beginning of the story we discover that Kady has been in some sort of accident and has no memory of the past three years of her life. Going through the motions of trying to remember her new life that she knows nothing about her feels disconnected for her life and family around her. Kady discovers the things the Liam is lying to her about struggling with the emotions and feelings that she feels she accepts the friendship of Walker who she really knows nothing about but seems to feel a strong connection towards. Walker helps Kady try to understand what has happened to her in the past three years while Liam is away.

V.L leaves you hanging on by a thin thread the entire time you are reading, you want to help Kady discover who she is now and what her life has become. You cheer her on and scream at her all at the same time for choices she is making. This books with leave you reeling and wishing for more. I cannot wait for book two to see exactly what Kady remembers about her new life and who she has now become.

When this book starts Kady has just woken up from a coma and she can't remember anything that has happened in the last 3 years. The only people by her side is her boyfriend Liam and a sexy Irish stranger named Walker. My heart broke for Kady as she struggles to remember who she is and why things around her seem so off. I had so many questions running thru my own head while I was reading this book.....who exactly is Walker and why does he seem so protective over Kady? Why is Liam acting so strangely? What exactly is he hiding from Kady? Is she ever going to get her memory of the last 3 years back?

OMG, I loved this book!!! I can't stress enough to others on how much I think you should go one click this book and read it. You will be asking yourself the same things I did and desperately trying to keep turning the pages once you get to the end!! Mrs. Brock, I will be stalking you while I try to patiently wait for book 2!!! :)

Instant fan for life of V.L. Brock!!!!!!!!! I need more HOT Irishman named Walker in my life!!!

I love stories that have me hooked from the first page and Seeking Nirvana did just this!

This was an emotion wrought story for me and…I LOVE THESE!!! This is the story of Kady Jenson. The story starts with her waking up in the hospital from an accident. V.L does a great job as to keeping quiet to the exact accident. Then their is Liam, her wonderful caring worried boyfriend. And by her side when she wakes up is Walker, a hot Irishman that Kady can't remember!!!! How do you forget a HOT IRISHMAN?!!!!!!

This story is not for faint of hearts of abuse- physical/mental, paranoia/delusions. Friendships ripped apart. Losing oneself for another. These are the warnings of a book that make me 1 click so fast!11

I always find it hard to read a book when I know the author because I will be honest with what I think of it. I can't award stars for being friends, that's just who I am. Therefore I was nervous to start this good friends book. I needn't have been. From the opening pages of Kady discovering she has lost a few years from her memory, and the mystery of boyfriend Liam and the hotness that is Walker, I was hooked. This is part of a series of three books, so I knew I wouldn't get all the answers. V left it in such a way that I was yelling no, I need the next book. The writing is fabulous, the premise original. I loved the hints of darker things brewing and some scenes were off the scale hot. Obviously I don't know what's going to happen but I have #Walkerlove. Highly recommend this read. I don't give 5 stars lightly.

This is the first book by V.L. Brock that I've read. I have found a new, great author! Seeking Nirvana is a page turning suspense! The book is unbelievably unique and the writing is fantastic! While the story does continue in the next book, which I normally don't like (LOL) this story is amazing and worth going back for more. I'm on to book two to see what demons will be exposed. My opinion is to take a chance on V.L.! I am positive these are books you will fall in love with!

Seeking Nirvana (Dark Evoke # 1)

I was really looking forward to reading this series. The blurb sounded amazing and exactly what I loved to read. I read the reviews before deciding to read this series and the reviews for this series was very good so I was looking forward to reading this book.
As soon as I started this book, I was hooked. It sucked me in completly and I wanted to know more and more, and that was only the first chapter.
Kady wakes up in a hospital bed and has no idea who the man is sitting next to her is or why she is waking up in hospital at all?! She's very confused and scared, but not by the mysterious man in the room. Kady is concerned with what's happened in the 3 years of her life that she's lost, rather than the now and who the man is sat in her room. She remembers her boyfriend Liam, but feels theirs something different about him.
I felt sincerely sorry for Kady. Having woke up and 3 years of your live just disappearing must if been extremly hard. I think she was very good at using her gut instincts when it came to Liam and the mysterious man, who we find out is Walker. She has a feeling things are not as they seem when it comes to Liam and even though she can't remember, simething inside her is telling her to be careful. I sympathised with her completly.
I couldn't take to Liam as a character at all. There's was no reason in particular why at first, I just couldn't connect with him. I felt that he was hiding things and things were not as they seed instantly and I felt it all eoukd come back to him. Because I had that feeling, I couldn't connect with him. I didn't want him to hurt Kady in anyway and like Jady was in the book, I was going with my gut instincts that everything with Lism wasn't as it seemed.
Walker was a different story altogether. I connected with him instantly, even through I didn't know much about him. He is a damaged man, who has turned his life around, but is still a Alpha male. The author didn't give much away about walker. She leaves you guessing and frustrated and wanting to know more and more about him and his he's connected to Kady.
The end of the book was explosive and threw me completly. I wasn't expecting the ending at all, which was brilliant. I loved I had no idea what was coming and what happened. The author did a great job. You think you know exactly what is going to happen at the end, but the author completly flips you and I love the unpredictability of it.
I can't wait to read the next instalment. The story was completly different to anything I've ever read and it kept me hooked from start to finish. The whole story confused me from the start in a good way and all the twists and turns blew my mind.
Brilliant book and well worth a read.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. Once I received the books, I was warned they were dark reads which intrigued me as I enjoy books with dark and slightly taboo subjects (there are some limits that I will NOT breach).

The opening chapter sucked me right into the story. Why was she in a coma? When was she going to wake up? I needed to know. The following chapters were confusing, but in the way that the reader is just as confused as the main character of Kady. We are sat on her shoulder throughout the story and learn what she learns when she does and are left in the dark when she is.

The more I got into the story, the more I came to realise it wasn't as dark as I was led to believe. Maybe it's because I have read some truly disturbing books, both fiction and non fiction, but there wasn't a point where I felt I couldn't continue.

It soon became clear what the main topic of the story is, and Brock deals with it fantastically. Thr nature of Kady's abuse isn't gratuitous or gory just for the sake of it and shock factor. It is unravelled with sensititvity and respect for those who may have or are experiencing the same. I commend her for this, as it's not an easy subject to write about.

Kady is, in some ways, a typical victim, in that she doesn't see what is happening to her until it's too late, even then she's not quite sure she believes it. This shows the power Liam has over her, and abusers in general.

Walker... I wanted to crush on him so bad. Not only is he a bit of a knight in shining armour, he's also Irish (a weakness of mine), but a lot of the time he irritated me. His constant use of 'aye' didn't ring true for me. I come from a large Irish family, but have never noticed anyone use it so much. Also, the use of 'darlin''. It felt a little forced and I kept picturing a cowboy. Again, from my own personal experience, it's not a word used so much and so often.

Overall, the story is extremely well written, and the subject matter is dealt with amazingly, but the characters fell a little short for me personally. 3.5-4 stars

Suspenseful and Addictive

Seeking Nirvana, the first instalment in the Dark Evoke series is a dark romantic thriller par excellence. After waking up from a coma following a car accident Kady, the heroine, suffering from amnesia desperately seeks to remember what happened during the last three years of her life and struggles to come to terms with the present. Told in the first person, from Kady’s POV, I thought that the novel was expertly crafted.

On returning home with Liam, her long term partner, Kady is stunned to see that the reality of her life bears little resemblance to the one she led three years ago. What happened to her? Where is the woman she used to be? Why are her family estranged from her? Who is Mrs Steinbeck, the menacing and nosey neighbour who watches her every move? And more to the point, why does she increasingly feel more at ease with the handsome Walker than her longstanding and beloved Liam? Why do the two men appear to be so much at odds when it comes to Kady?

As the novel unfolds I felt as if I was walking hand in hand with Kady as she tries to remember and uncover the truth of what her life has become. It is Walker who makes Kady feel like a woman and who offers her solace, whereas Liam’s becomes ever more distant. Doubt and confusion become commonplace and Kady feels ever more desperate and conflicted over her feelings towards the two men in her life, as the novel becomes ever more menacing. I began asking myself who was Kady’s friend and who was her foe as the book progressed and we are given glimpses of the reality of Kady’s situation.

The characterisations of both Walker and Liam are excellent. The two men could not be more different. As I read I was itching to solve the puzzle of Kady’s life and began rooting for her HEA. The novel does end on a major cliffhanger, which sets up book #2 perfectly.

It is a must read for fans of dark romantic suspense and for readers who like psychological thrillers.

Please note, a copy of the book was given to me by the author for the purpose of a fair and honest review.

OH WOW this was one of those mind screw , frustrating books that every time you think you know what is going on you end up questioning yourself !! I give credit to this author because this story has no resolve and that is always a risk , I myself love the cliffhanger frustrating stories but not everyone is happy with that !! I am thrilled to be able to start book 2 right away and am hoping for answers or some kind of hint to the truth !!

Kady wakes up in a hospital and cannot recall the last 3 years. Walker is tense and Liam is the doting boyfriend. This all seems perfect to Kady but you can tell between Walker and Kady's family that something is not adding up. Immediately at home Kady is confused nothing is as it was and she finds it hard to believe her life has changed this much in 3 years. Liam isn't giving up any information and the blanks he does fill in seem a little forced. I am sensing some major problem right away but I could not for the life of me figure it out. Who is Walker to Kady and why is he not doing more to get her to remember ?? What is Liam hiding and who or what will trigger Kady's memory.....

I will say the second her memory of Liam's 30th birthday was triggered I had a clue of what may be a part of the problem. I mean really , ok so yes maybe some would do that for their boyfriend for his birthday but the second Liam went to Liv I knew something was going to go down. Of course this was just a glimpse of a memory , then we had the marks on her body , the nosey neighbor and the lack of communication from her parents. With Liam away and ironically Liv away helping her sick mother Kady relies on Walker to keep her company. I really can't say much more , honestly I was mind screwed !! Really pay attention because you will need to piece this together with Kady as she goes on this journey to gain back the past 3 years , I promise you it won't be pretty...

This was the first book of Victoria's that i have read. A friend of mine had already read it and recommended it to me, so i was so excited when Victoria gifted me a copy.
I already knew a few things about what happened because of my friend, she gets excited and vents when she reads an awesome book. so i already knew about vile Liam, sexy Irish Walker and, Kady waking up from a coma having no recollection of the last three years.
Unfortunately like a lot of women, and men, i have lived through a physical and mental abusive relationship, so i could relate to Kady's character on so many levels.
I was sucked into this book from the very beginning and read it in one sitting. I have never felt so many different emotions whilst reading a book and i was left feeling emotionally drained. I found it pretty hard at some points not to throw my tablet up the wall because i wanted to rip Liam out of the book and smash his face in. I love dark reads and taboo subjects, they are my favourite and Victoria kept me on the edge of my seat all the way through Kady's journey to recover her memories. I can't wait to start the next in the series.

I received this book as an ARC for a honest review.

The author pulls you in and keeps you locked in the story from the first chapter. I envisioned myself as Kady Jenson because in a wonderful soul searching way, I needed answers too. That is what the author provides for you. You become Kady- the woman who has lost her memory on a quest for answers.

What I found so intriguing about this book is that the author doesn't give much away but enough to keep you interested. She delivers twists like a car hitting a building unexpectedly but softens the blow like a mother attending lovingly to her child's wound.

There are characters to love, hate and get your mind wondering. She focuses on character development through Kady's search for discovery. We get a glimpse of the Kady before and after.

This is a huge contrast from the author's debut novel. She shows how versatile she is through plot, dialogue and language.

I enjoyed the book and cannot wait to see how the rest of the series pans out.

I was given a copy of this in return for an honest review!

When I first started this book I was sucked in by the story line so much so that I could not stop reading. HOWEVER....the further into the book the more agitated I became with the characters.

Kady wakes up in the hospital with no memory of the past 3 years. Ok I can handle that. When she wakes there is a Irish man standing vigil at her bedside, Wonderful! Then she asks for Liam, the boyfriend, ok great story coming! Thats what I thought.

I felt like this story kept leading up and leading up but then didn't deliver. Liam is acting strange and Kady notices this and even questions him on it. But she never questions why Walker (Irish hottie) was at her bedside when she woke up?!

I am all for mystery romance story lines and this book started that way but the ending? It leaves your head spinning and you really want to say "what just happened"?

I really want to know how the story ends but I don't think I will be waiting on pins and needles for the next book to come out.

I am giving this a 4 out of 5 stars. Why not 5? I feel that this ends in a cliffhanger that I was not expecting. Does Kady regain her memory? Kady wakes up in the hospital, and is told that she was in an accident but it is not clear what type of accident that she was in, although we can get the idea that it was not a car accident towards the end of the novel. Kady has lost 3 years of her life. She's torn between Liam and Walker. Liam is acting throughout the book as he is full of anger, which Kady picks up on. Liam is also lying to Kady and she starts catching on to that information as well. She's drawn to Walker because of his peaceful, protectful presence in her life as well as being there for her when she needs it. Bad guy vs good guy.

Overall, I do recommend this book to read and look forward to the next book in the series to see where Kady ends up.

WOW!!! I honestly dont know how to convey how i felt about this book. V.L. is a new to me author and I jumped at the chance to read and review this for her. This book had me gripped from page one and didnt let go till a few hours later i finished it. Kady has been thru something traumatic and she has no clue who she is. Liam to me at first seemed an upstanding concerned boyfriend but then his true colors started showing. Walker is a sexy Irish man who Im still trying to figure out how he plays in this storyline. Ends in a cliffhanger so im defitnely looking forward to reading book two. Wonderfully written and has an interesting plot line that will keep you guessing how things are going to be played out. Of course with the cliffhanger i was left with a book hangover.
