Harley seems to have it made. He runs a successful construction business, leads a loyal team, and has a beautiful house with acres of land all to himself. Still, he can’t help but feel empty and alone. Though his friends have tried for years to hook him up with a nice girl, it never works out. Harley decides a dog would be great company, and so he heads to the shelter to foster one for the upcoming storm. When he enters the shelter, Harley doesn’t expect to finally meet someone who sparks a fire in his heart. He especially doesn’t expect for that person to be another man...
After a string of failed relationships, Ash has all but given up on finding the right man. Though he is a talented artist, he has lost most of his inspiration and lives his days at home, doing web design to pay the bills. The only thing that brings him out of the house is his volunteer work at the local animal shelter. When soft-spoken Harley comes in to foster the shelter’s most misunderstood dog, Ash can’t help but think this man must have a kind soul. Too bad Harley doesn’t swing that way... or does he?
The worst hurricane to hit the coast brings these two polar opposite men together. But can they weather the emotional storm of their pasts, and find peace in each other? Or will it all fall apart?
Stormy Hearts is a standalone novel featuring two hot men, two cute rescue dogs, and a happy ending for all four of them!
Yeah, it's a first time author. Yeah, it's KU. Yeah, no friends have read it yet. But. PUPPIES!!!!!
I'm goin' in!
After reading:
The dogs were adorable but not adorable enough to save this book for me. Ash and Harley had no chemistry that I could see and the plot was so boring! The book is about two men meeting on a trip inland to avoid a hurricane but nothing happened. They walked the dogs around and ate good food and not much else. As for romance, we had one, frankly, uninspiring sex scene and that was it. No chemistry + no romance + no hot sex = a book I can't recommend, even to fanatic dog lovers like me.
** Delightful, sweet and heartwarming ! ** A hurricane is headed to town, so volunteer, Ash, is helping hand out pets for people to take care of short term for safety. Harley shows up to take a dog and meets Ash. Ash tells him of a pet friendly hotel he and Chelsea and her family are going to. Harley's crew want him to go to a bar and drink, but that's not his thing. He's older than they are; not interested. Harley, Ash and Chelsea's family meet at the hotel, and are safe from the Category 4, and their pets are safe. The men have time to hangout. Harley is struggling with his feelings for Ash; he's the first man that has ever drawn Harley's attention. He's not afraid, just confused. Harley brings a picnic lunch to Ash on a rainy day, and a trip to the zoo. Ash is falling hard and they hadn't even held hands....until.... the Botanical Gardens. With the hurricane past, it was a few days before they could get home. This is a carefree, lovely story, a slow burn romance, and a friendship turned GFY romance. The characters are realistic, steady and solid, while the smooth plot flows. The shelter is destroyed, as was Ash's condo building.
Harley had some yard damage, and planned to help the townsfolk before he does his own repairs. Pets can't be turned in to the shelter, so Harley keeps his Daisy and Ash's Sasha at his place. We get their sexy loving, with first times for Harley, but he's 100% on board.
The deeply emotional sex is a first for each man. The guys see each other more as months pass, while Harley's crew finishes the rebuild. There will be an auction/fund raiser. The end is terrific, and we see what we were waiting for. I liked this story. ENJOY ! ============
This book is an absolutely wonderful story. It is brilliantly written the characters are thought out. The MC’s are Harley who owns a construction business and Ash who is an artist, web designer and a volunteer at the animal shelter. There is also Chelsea who is Ash’s friend and Daisy and Sasha both foster dogs.
Ash is painting with his Chelsea and they find out a class 4 Hurricane is on its way through town and they need to leave. Here’s part of that conversation, (“Wow, is it really going to be that bad?” Chelsea shrugged. “I hope not. Do you know how much fun it’s gonna be packing the whole family and my zoo of pets into one car?” “Yeah, I bet.”). They plan on meeting at a motel that is pet friend so that Ash can foster a dog from the shelter. Harley was going just wait out the storm until he saw the news and then he decided to foster a dog too. They meet when Ash helps Harley at the shelter to foster Daisy the dog that he saw on the news. After Harley leaves Ash has a dog dumped on him and he decides to foster that dog Sasha. Harley and Ash meet again at the motel that Ash is stay at because he had suggested it to Harley. Because it is pet friendly and the options are few. Harley starts to realize that there is a reason that all the women he tried to date didn’t work for him. And he struggles with his new emotions and feelings. Harley and Ash get together a few times some wonderful moments. There was the Doggy Play Date and Picnic with food that amazed Ash. There was the Wild Animal Park that they came away loving giraffes. And The Botanical Butterfly Gardens that were beautiful. When they go home Harley tells Ash that he needs time to figure things and not to count on him. The Hurricane has done serious damage to parts of the town other parts little. The Animal Shelter receives a lot of damage so Ash calls Harley to see if his construction company can help repair it. They have an auction to help rebuild the shelter. You will need to read the book to see if there are two HEA. One for the shelter and one for Harley and Ash I can tell you there is 1 for sure. I completely enjoyed this book and absolutely recommend this book. I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book for an honest review
Ash is a talented artist who has returned to his hometown after a string of failed relationships. This failure in love seems to have kidnapped his muse as well because Ash seems to have lost all of inspiration to paint his unusual pictures. He keeps himself cooped up in the house doing web design. The only things that draw him out of his little charming coop apartment are his volunteer days. He helps his friend Chelsea at her gallery and volunteers at the animal rescue. Harley is the owner of a successful construction business which he inherited along with his expansive childhood home. His loyal workers are not just employees, they’re his friends. So why is Harley feeling so alone?
Enter the worst hurricane to hit the coast in some years which has the rescue shelter dead in its path. Both men come together in their mutual desire to assist in the emergency evacuation and housing of these animals. For Harley, it’s the one dog who is the most misunderstood. Ash assists him with the foster paperwork and information on the only pet friendly hotel. It’s no small coincidence that Ash will also be staying there as he too has decided to foster a cute little abused puppy dropped in his lap by its owners. The storm that begins to rage between these two men far exceeds the one by nature which brought them together. The question is what storms will they weather once Mother Nature is done.
I loved this story. Hot men, cute animals and a raging storm inside and out. Nothing put a recipe for a book you won’t want to put down until it’s over. Well written and well developed from the first page to the last, Stormy Hearts will take your heart by storm as it did mine. This was my first book by Sloane Easton but it will surely not be my last.
I received a free ARC copy of this book from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review.
The fact that this is a love story set among hurricanes and evacuations and rescue dogs is very creative. I just couldn’t get past the awkward prose that the story is written in. I am not sure that I have ever seen the word “aforementioned” used outside of a formal legal document, but it’s used here. After slogging through the first chapter I almost put this down, it is that poorly written. Get an editor! I also was unable to sense any chemistry between the two main characters. For some reason, so many gay romances have a hunky muscle guy falling for an effeminate guy. I’m not saying that it never happens but usually like attracts like. If your going to have this formulaic plot where almost opposites attract, the story has to be carefully developed. It wasn’t here. I simply don’t see these two together. Sorry. Love the dogs, though. Especially Daisy. They got this book an extra star.
This is such a sweet slow-burn love story. Well-written with a steady pace and straight-forward language. Ash and Harley are great characters and so cute together. Harley hasn’t had any luck with relationships, but when he meets Ash he wonders about the reason why. The author has done an amazing job describing the emotions from coming to terms with one’s sexuality. Not overly dramatic, but with a realistic honesty and acceptance. The dogs play in important role in getting Ash and Harley together. The end is swoon-worthy, so sweet. I really liked this book and I am looking forward to reading more from this author.
I was honoured with an advanced reader copy and am voluntarily leaving a review of this book.
A sweet lonely hometown boy meets hunky construction worker over weekend away from a hurricane strike while fostering shelter dogs.
Ash is a slender painter who is earning a living by making websites. Harley is a construction business owner/contractor who is clueless to his disinterest in women. Add Ash's married best friend who also paints, and stir.
Voila! The result is a sweet straight - to - gay romance. Yes, there's hurricane damage, but nothing that can't be overcome. Especially Harley's sudden enlightenment. Gotta hand it to a guy who makes that transition so easily.
This is a fun, easy, standalone HEA. Oh-and we eventually find out its in a small coastal Georgia town. I would have liked the geographic info earlier.
This is such a sweet story. The author brought me into the hearts and minds of both characters. The innocence and joy of these men discovering something new in someone new was a pleasure to see. Their backstories gave just enough information to make the story interesting and understandable. The same can be said for the secondary characters. Everything came together nicely to give a happy romance, interrupted by a bit of turmoil and ending with a very satisfying HEA. The spicy scenes were very well done. I look forward to reading more from this author.
Stormy Hearts is a sweet story of romance with loveable MCs and adorable pets. Ash and Harley are so cute together, even while Harley is taking time to understand his new feelings and discoveries about himself. There is a little angst thrown in, some enjoyable secondary characters, and a satisfying HEA. I do think there could have been a little more substance to the story at times, especially with Harley coming to terms with being attracted to a man, but it is an enjoyable debut novel and great if you are looking for a fairly light and sweet read.
I read a free Advance Reader Copy of this book for my honest opinion and review. It seemed well thought out and written although I would have been all for a little extra added to the ending. The MC's and supporting characters were believable along with the situation they were involved in. The four-legged critters, Sasha and Daisy, were just too cute and added well to the storyline. This story is sweet, romantic and sexy with just the right amount of angst. It was a great way to spend a relaxing few hours.
Ash and Harley are two people who met for there love of dogs and they helped each other out when the hurricane destroyed there town. I'm proud of Harley for understanding who he is and knowing what was bugging him his entire life and why he couldn't fall in love enter Ash and life change being with him made Harley a better person and a better man he owned and now they have there happy ending
A sweet book that as a dog lover I enjoyed. The plot was interesting and kept me reading until the end. However, I felt there were a number of chapters that were mostly tell rather than show, like someone was recounting the story to me rather than I was reading it first hand. Maybe something for author and editor to be conscious of next time.
Ash is newly returned to the town he grew up in. Helping out at animal shelter, just before a bad storm, he meets Harley, who comes to help with the dogs during the storm. Both men feel attraction, but Harley has never considered his sexuality to be anything but straight and he has to accept himself before the two get their HEA.
A cute story about two lonely men, Ash and Harley, finding love with each other and two adorable dogs. The men are very different from each other when it comes to jobs and looks, but their big hearts are cut from the same cloth.
There are so many books in this genre but I have a hard time finding ones I like. This was sweet, interesting and well-written. Suitable for animal-lovers. ;)
A heartwarming story about finding love in the one place you never thought to look. The story flows along great, two sexy men and two amazing dogs what more could you ask for. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I liked the setting of this book. The hurricane added interest as well as the dogs. Still, the story was fairly basic and very puppies and rainbows. If you're looking for something super easy to read with no angst and everything turning out beyond perfect it's worth a read.
4⭐⭐⭐⭐. I just love stories about new discoveries, add pets to it and I'm sold! I love how the two MCs discover each other, their dogs and ultimately discover themselves in the end. Would definitely read more from this author!
This is another wonderful book by this author. It's the second I've read. I enjoy his writing and his stories. The characters are believable and well scripted. A lovely romantic tale.
I love how these two men came together. They show how much they care about others when they care for the dogs in an emergency. I love how these men and their pets fit together and make a life for themselves.
I'll never turn down a book featuring guys and their dogs. This one was really cute and sweet, with minimal angst, and of course a happy ever after that will have you cheering. Enjoy!!
I chose this rating because this eBook was filled with denial, instant attraction, romance, and pets. Ash and Harvey were so sexy together. Love does conquer all!
