A dead mayor.
A wacky aunt.
An uppity millionaire romance author.
And a town full of explosive secrets…

It’s one headache after another for witch and café owner Ginger Westbrook.

When Mayor Penelope Ashby rolls her car off a driveway and into the ocean, everyone in the small, sleepy seaside town of Broomfield Bay, Oregon is shocked.
Everyone but Ginger’s Aunt Vivian, who “saw” the grisly death coming long before the unlikable mayor plunged into the Pacific.
But when it’s discovered that the death may not have been an accident, accusations start flying and Ginger and Vivian find themselves smack dab in the middle of a modern-day witch hunt.
Because strange things are afoot in Broomfield Bay this summer, and it will take all of Ginger’s powers – supernatural and otherwise – to keep the small town’s pitchforks and torches at bay.

Amazon best-selling authors Jools Sinclair and Meg Muldoon join forces in this magical tale. Full of mystery, romance, humor, and chowder, the first book in the Witches of Broomfield Bay Mysteries is this summer’s perfect cozy mystery beach read.

This is an entrancing, light hearted book the perfect book for a summer read. I was hooked from the get go, I love books with short chapters that contain so much reading enjoyment. I have read all of Jools Sinclairs books and this is my first one by Meg Muldoon and I wasn't disappointed. It has quirky characters, magic, suspense and keeps you wondering what will happen next.
The story takes place in the quaint Pacific coast town of Broomfield Bay, beginning with a disliked mayors suspicious death. Ginger is our main character who owns the town cafe and performs magical spells on the side. She lives with her Aunt who is just a fabulous character, one that we can all envision who sings and dances to Stevie Nicks, I could picture her in a tie dyed or lacy layered long skirt. The characters in this book are well developed and people whom all of us can relate to, well, maybe except the broom Sherwood, but I'd love a broom like that.
The icing on the cake of this book is that the delicious recipes mentioned and tempting us throughout the story are at the ending! I love this :-). A book I recommend to read.

Review:

The characters are well developed, well rounded and three dimensional. Ginger is a loyal, likeable and lovable witch. She is busy running her cafe and doing her “witch” business on the side. But when her Aunt Vivian gets accused of murder, she does not hesitate to investigate the murder, in hopes of proving her aunt is innocent. Aunt Vivian is a quirky funny witch who does not let things bother her. Even when faced with jail time, she keeps her positive upbeat attitude. Eddie is the one that got away, and Ginger hopes that he will be back in her life on a more permanent basis. And Sherwood is one of the most unusual characters that I have ever known. I cannot wait to spend more time with all of them in future books.

The writing style flows smoothly and the book is an easy read. The authors are very talented in their descriptive writing and through much of the book I felt like I was right there, watching all the action taking place and listening in on plenty of conversations. The mystery was carried on well throughout the book. There were enough suspects to consider and clues to sift through that I did not figure out who the killer was until it was revealed at the end. That is a plus in my book.

I think many of us read to be taken away to a world that an author creates, leaving behind our reality for a little while. That is exactly what happened to me when reading this book and I want to thank the authors for giving me that world to escape to.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a well crafted cozy mystery. If you like witch cozies, you will love this book. If you do not especially like witch cozies, you will still love this book. I forgot that I was reading a cozy about a witch, I just knew that I was reading a great cozy mystery. I have read other series by both of theses authors and I think they are great. Put them together and you have a dynamic duo. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series.

I really enjoy Jools Sinclair's writing and love her other series with Abby as the central character. I was not disappointed in the writing here it sucks you in very quickly, and I immediately cared about Ginger and her fate. Be warned there are very graphic scenes described of baked goods, so if you are on a diet or concerned about consuming treats while reading - this is not the book for you! I loved the nice touch of adding the receipes at the end. On the other side of things, I thought what happened with her husband was very obvious from the beginning and as soon as the character of Eddie appeared there was no big shock on how that was going to turn out. However I will be definitely be reading the sequel.

I received an ARC of this book for a review. I ENJOYED the book so much that I purchased it too! Jools and Meg have written a book with great characters, a great story line, and a little bit of romance and mystery. It was a magical book and it somewhat reminded me of Practical Magic. I REALLY enjoyed this book. It had a great theme, and it was loads of fun to read! You won't go wrong if you purchase this book! I can't wait to read more in this series!

Jools Sinclair is easily one of my favorite authors. If you haven't read her series, 44, I suggest you stop what you are doing and go read it.

Good witching, great mystery!

A really great and satisfying tale, with lots of filled-in detail unlike so many others in the Kindle Unlimited library! I really enjoyed the characters and the setting. Lots of twists, but not enough to confuse the reader. An excellent collaboration.

Good of its kind

This is a fairly good mystery with a witch at the forefront, though other than a little glamor, she uses few of her witchy talents to solve the mystery. On the other hand, the backstory, the thread that ties the series together is beginning to look fascinating.

I loved this book and can't wait for the next book in the series to come out! The characters were great, the storyline was fun, and I looked forward to opening it every day. This series is easily going to be just as good as Meg's Christmas River series.
