And now she’s one of the most famous people on the planet.
It’s my job to protect her. To guide her and make sure nothing ever happens to her.
And nothing ever will. Not on my watch.
I was a Marine in a past life. I know what it takes to protect and serve.
But all I want to do is own her. I watch her perform for the world. But at night, she belongs only to me.
No one knows our secret. They can’t.
Her father would kill his best friend if he knew what I did to his daughter at night, after every show.
And that best friend? Is me.
WARNING: This silver fox ex-Marine turned bodyguard doesn’t need anyone’s permission to be with the woman he loves; even when she’s the world’s biggest pop star. The heat is high on this one. Plan to escape… but maybe sit near a fan while you enjoy this over-the-top love story.
Sylvia Fox writes steamy stories about alphas who aren’t afraid of taking what they want, and the women who love them. Each release is a stand alone with a guaranteed happily ever after. Cliff hangers and brooding angst won’t be found here — Sylvia prefers a man who delivers a good spanking and a diamond ring.
Permission is a great start to Fox's new series. This was a sweet romance with some light BDSM. The book jumps between present day and flashbacks until the end, then there's an epilogue.
The story is told in first person, Lia's POV. It feels like she's in the room with you telling the reader how she got her rise to fame and how it was the catalyst for her relationship with Robert Cavanaugh, her father's best friend.
The story is a little taboo in that Robert has known Lia since birth and has helped raise. There was nothing creepy going on; he didn't see her as a woman until she was 18 y/o or 19 y/o. It was that time they were on tour and practically attached at the hip. Still he was pretty much a second father, and this relationship would be a big NO for some readers. Another turn off is an attempted-rape scene. It's pretty short, not too detailed, and Robert saves the day.
This is a quick read that is well-written and I would recommend giving the book a try.
I am voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader copy of this book, Permission by Sylvia Fox.
I have previously read several of Sylvia's books and enjoyed every one of them immensely (5+⭐️s easy). With Permission, I just had a really hard time getting into it. It does not feel or read like a Sylvia Fox book. I'm NOT saying it's a bad book or poorly written, because it's not that. It's just not what I was expecting and it didn't grab me by the throat and hold me captive till the end like other books I've read and loved (some of those were Sylvia Fox books 😊). Regardless of how I feel about Permission, I am still a big fan of Sylvia's and plan on reading her future books.
I have read a lot of Sylvia Fox books and this one is different from her normal books. I enjoyed the different time lapses are a new thing to keep up with, and it is not hard to do so. It does show how Lia grows from a 17ish teenage girl to young woman. There are a few men in this book that you are not quite sure who is the man Lia is with. You are hoping you are right about the man you want her with, but that doesn't always come about. This is a really sexy book and I loved reading it, although I kinda wish it had been longer.
I voluntarily read an advance reader copy for my honest review.
I loved everything about this book. I simply did not want to put it down once I started reading and could not turn the page fast enough to discover who her lover was. It's a story written in the first person as if Liane were telling her story as we sat in the room together.
I absolutely adore Robert and his love for Liane and his friendship with her father. This book is every little girl's dream if she is into singing, and every woman's dream if she's into being dominated.
I think this is a good start to a new series and look forward to starting on Obsession (book 2) I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary ARC
Permission is the first book in Sylvia Fox's Alpha Bodyguards series. This book is super hot! It is a romance with a little BDSM. I loved this book. I really liked how the story flipped back and forth from present to past. It is a quick read. I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. Liane is a small town country girl with a big pop stars voice. This is the story of how her life changed after posting a few videos of herself singing on YouTube. Fame, fortune and romance! This was my first Sylvia Fox book and I look forward to reading more.
Couldn't put this book down.. it's inspiring in its self to not give up on your dreams.. I loved the fact that Lia is so relatable she is sweet, very trusting she had the biggest crush on her silver fox of a bodyguard Mr. Robert cavanaugh he had the six pack the attitude being a retired marine. After a while of them being together their feelings just can't be contained anymore.. just saying the guys hot is an understatement
Liane was an up and coming music star whose career led her on a path to stardom. But losing control in the bedroom to her dads best friend was something she only dreamed of. That is until he saves her from being raped by another rock star. Once the sparks flew the unlikely pair become inseparable and true love reigns. Great characters and the mystery man format led me to read quickly through the book to get to the end. A job well done. Cannot wait got nor in the series.
Wow! I have read every book by Sylvia Fox and I did not see this one coming. A bit different (moving between past and present, light BDSM) but sucked me in from the start. This book was a quick read and oh boy was it HOT! I can't wait to read the next book and see where this series takes us. *I voluntarily read an advanced readers copy of this book *
4* Liane has a blog singing on line after spotting her blog travis zane invites her & friends to a concert he's playing near her home town. Can she achieve all her wishes? Great start to a new series it does have a true ending & I can't wait for submission & obsession I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book Great book
Okay, I really enjoyed the way this book kept me guessing who the heroine ended up with. (I know I should know the right answer by now but the story was hinting—a lot!—at heroine's another possible love interests, so I was thoroughly confused. In a good way, I mean.) But that incessant jumping back and forth in time ruined this reading experience for me. Just a bit, but it did.
Singing songs on y-tube got her noticed and helped her get recognition but Lia got much more a relationship with an older man named Robert. If I do not like to read books that chapters go back and forth from present to last this might not be for you. Overall sex scenes are 🔥. Enjoyable read.
This book is hot!!! I could not put it down from the start. This sweet country girl with a singing you tube channel steps out and reaches for the stars... Her crush amongst all the fame is quite unexpected and amazingly sweet yet somewhat taboo... Definitely a great book...
I think that this story was so enjoyable is because it is so close to what really happens these days in terms of how people are discovered. I love the dynamic and I can definitely admit to having those kinds of crushes before. Quick and hot read.
Drawn in and connected to the characters from the very beginning. Love the writing style and story line. Can't help but fall in love with Lia, Harold and Robert. Would love to read a book about Ian (hint hint)!
If you're looking for a good, quick, well written, and steamy older man/younger woman taboo romance story with some light BDSM thrown in, Permission by Sylvia Fox is the book for you.
I volunteered to review an advanced readers copy of this book.
WHOA- a LOT more exciting than I was expecting - I picked this book up just to fill some time and ended up with a page turned burning up my kindle ;-) Great story, with a bit of a twist I expected but still was surprised by.
She's discovered on YouTube - Liane gets her chance at stardom - she's always been in love with her next door neighbor, only problem is its her dad's best friend - this is a story about what having dreams and them coming true.
What a great story. The back and forth with the storyline was interesting. It added a layer to the story that ended up being great. I enjoyed this book.
Liane, a seventeen-year-old aspiring singer, got her break through the YouTube videos she posted. When a famous singer, Travis Zane, contacted her regarding her cover of one of his songs, the journey to her dreams had begun. Three years later, she's enjoying her success.
She's known Robert her whole life. Robert and her Dad, Harold, grew up together, both enlisting in the Marines, then later marrying hometown best friends. Unfortunately, when Liane was younger, as well as Robert's sons, Jesse and Isaac, their Mothers were killed in a car accident while enjoying a day for themselves.
In their mutual grief, the two men grew even closer, helping the other by essentially co-parenting. The morning after the concert, the one where Liane unexpectedly sang, and nailed, a duet with Travis, Harold and Robert are joking around about her needing a bodyguard. When Harold states he can't due to his job as a cop, he insists Robert would be perfect for the job of protecting Liane.
“Does that mean I could stop breaking up fights between my boys and crack some other heads?” - Robert “Absolutely. Whatever you’d have to do to keep her safe and happy.” - Harold "I knew just how he could make me happy." - Liane (internal thought)
A year and a half into her whirlwind rise to stardom, Liane realized she was missing something and really, who better to assist her with that than her constant companion and years long crush, the man no other could ever measure up to, Robert?
“You’re going to be my good girl?” - Robert
What happens when Liane's Dad discovers their relationship? Will their news impact Liane's image? Will they get their HEA? Will Harold get his own second chance in the next book?
One-click now and follow along as two people who've known each other for years, finding their relationship heading in an unexpected direction.
On a purely personal note, I both liked and disliked the chapters alternating between the past (three years ago) and present. While I thought it was an interesting way to tell the story - Liane trying to make it versus her having made it; Liane crushing on Robert versus her actually being with him - it also took you out of what was happening in each point in time because as you're getting into what you're reading, boom...time switch. Also, it's a little gross knowing that when they were younger, Robert tried calling on Kirsten, Liane's Mom, before she fell for Harold. Then add in Robert ended up marrying Shirleen, Kirsten's best friend, and it's all a little too close for comfort. Especially considering Robert is now with Liane, Kristen's daughter. Yeah, kind of hard to keep all that straight, right? Oh, and he compliments Liane, stating she's the "spitting image" of her Mom. That's icky, considering.

Permission is the first book I have read by Sylvia. The story is definitely unique in its own way. If you like quick, steamy and older alpha men then give Permission a click. I thought it was ok. It started off hot and than it seemed to slow down. I definitely found a new author to follow. I am looking forward to reading more of Sylvia's books.
One extra star for the sex scenes turning me on. Seriously, if she just could've written it in chronological order and stopped so much of the focus on the starlet's rise to fame, and more on their relationship (I mean, isn't that point of these books??) this could've gotten more stars.
Seriously....why was this book about her rise to fame? Their relationship was treated as side dish next to an (boring) entree of pop star success. SNORE.
What an exciting book. I absolutely loved the story about Liane, a small town girl with a dream of becoming a famous singer. Mostly, I enjoyed reading her love story with Robert, her father's best friend who is much older than her. Sylvia has written once again a thrilling story with lots of steamy scene. I admit, at some point I blushed very much. I highly recommend this short fast paced book.
