This one confirmed some weird happenings that got brought up recently in the series! I'm really curious when that will be expanded upon. I want answers to my questions!

"Go where you want, I will never forget you for a moment. And any painful memories I have today will be my nourishment that makes me a stronger person tomorrow. It's the same for everybody! Human beings have that power within themselves."

Naturally, the thirteenth volume of the manga begins right after the wizards destroy the R-system and leave. Erza asks Wally and everyone else to join Fairy Tail and they are shocked, but they don't say no. Except that when everyone is in the hotel, all of those guys mysteriously disappear. The team goes to find them, only to learn that they are leaving. They know nothing of the outside world and would rather find it on their own than be a burden over Erza. Now isn't that a sweet thought? I really liked those guys in that moment, and I liked Erza more for having the strength to let them go. She was like an elder sister to them. She had the urge to protect them. I'm proud of her for giving them the freedom they desired.

And then, as soon as the wizards return back home, they find something that shocks them. The guild has been renovated. There are gift shops, pools, performances and what not. It's amazing! And it's huge! And a couple of days later, it is all in the Sorceror's Weekly! That's so great!

Except. Except that there are people who are now making fun of the guild. (You know how it is. You can't have it. You make fun of it.) And these people happen to run into Laxus. This is where the civil war begins!

What I liked the most about this one was reading more on Laxus' guard. I mean, that's a rather weird name for a team, don't you think? Do they guard Laxus or what? And if Laxus is so strong, why does he even need a guard? Weird.

Yet, I particularly liked those members. I mean, Evergreen, for one, was my favourite. Or rather, her power was. We weren't yet shown the powers of the remaining "guard" except that of Laxus himself so I'm not sure what to expect, but considering how they mapped out the entire city of Magnolia, it seems interesting.

Lastly, the other surprise was about Natsu. When he couldn't cross the guild boundary...ah, that surprised me because he wasn't a stone so he must be over 80, isn't it? How old is the guy, really? I would love to find out!

Overall, I quite liked the art in this one. For once, the fighting scenes didn't disappoint me either, and the new Laxus arc seems interesting. I know what will happen next but I can still myself having these butterflies in my stomach to find out more. Oh, I simply cannot wait!

Nice little breather...and the next.

World: The art is solid with some nice little character moments. New pieces are introduced like the new guild hall and also new characters.

Story: A nice little change of pace that allows for a breather. Some new members are introduced and se banter ensues. The next battle arc is here and it's been brewing for a while. Civil war it is.

Characters: Nice little moments with Garjeel and Juvia. Nice new editions. I don't like the Laxus stuff cause I find his character basic and clichéd, let's see where this goes.

It was okay.

Onward to the next book!

With the Jellal saga finally concluded, a breath of fresh air comes for Ezra, her guild and her old friends who have a new beginning for them. With the guild base rebuilt and everyone having a good time, they are unaware that a evil tribe has some devious plans for their future. Lucy and her guild take part of a harvest festival and our lovely guild girls compete in the Miss Fairy Tail contest that has a lucrative first prize. That is until the Raijin Tribe crash the contest and after turning some of the FT members into stone, it becomes a game of traps and strength for our remaining guild. A (100%/Outstanding)

Mostly filler with minor plot progression, it treads familiar water with the cheesiness and fan service that makes it such a popular series.

3.5/5 Volume 13 is a bit of a rest volume. We wind down after the Tower of Heaven arc and build up to the Battle of Fairy Tail arc. Laxus returns hellbent on taking the reigns of Fairy Tail from his grandfather. The action hasn’t quite begun yet but I’m sure it’ll be good once it starts.

There’s a few funny moments and a sexy little beauty pageant but really we’re just waiting to get back to the battles.

We’ve got Fairy Tail new recruits Juvia and Gajeel on the cover as well as Laxus and his crew Fried, Evergreen, and Bickslow.

Natsu has been asleep for 3 days after the battle recover
Erza is sending if Shô, Milliana and Wally, letting them know that they can joking Fairytail if they’d like
It’s explained that Erza believed Jallal fused with it instead, after being released from Zeref possession. Which would explain why Erzas body wasn’t broken up into tiny pieces
Shô and the others had run off , planning to leave in secret as to not be burdens anymore
Erza finds them, and gives them a ‘FaiyTail’ send off. Fireworks, the departing speech.
Ultear is still scheming
Fairytail is REBUILT!!
Juvia looks different now but is officially a part of Fairytail AND SO IS GAJEEL
Mira put on a performance but like usual, the guild ended up breaking out in a brawl.
Sorcerer Weekly reported Jason: came in the next day. Lucy does everything in her power to try and get his attention, doesn’t work
GAJEEL TAKES THE HIT THAT WAS HEADED TOWARDS LEVY FROM LAXUS!!!
Introduction to Bickslow, Freed (Fried??) and Evergreen
The Fantasia festival started off with a beauty contest in which Erza, Lucy, Bisca, Cana, Juvia, Levy and Mira entered. They were turned to stone by Evergreen and Laxus decided to put the guild members against one another. Trying to decide the ‘strongest members’
Freed had put down a ‘Jutsu-Shiki’ little rules and barriers around magnolia, the first to fight are Jet vs. Droy vs. Alzac… Alzac was the winner
Grey finds Bicslow, Elfman finds Evergreen and Redus finds Freed… well more like Freed finds Redus

Thoughts on the volume:
• Starting the Battle of Fairy Tail arc!!! I think this was the first really memorable arc in Fairy Tail and the one that really stands out in terms of building up the characters and some of the mystery behind Dragon Slayers specifically.
• The "Gajeel is still evil" fake out does still piss me off, ngl
• Thunder God Tribe... so very fruity. Bixslow having his guild mark on his tongue is something nobody has ever been brave enough to truly think about. How old was he when he joined the guild? Why did anyone let him do that? Did they disinfect the stamp afterwards?
• Having to stone-ify the women because they're fucked if Erza and Mira really get going, yeah I <3 the Fairy Girls.
• Natsu Gajeel 80+ years old!!! Grandpa's!! Get them a senior discount!!!!

The battle of Fairy Tail is on! There were many action-packed scenes, however, this is not my favorite arc and might be my least favorite in the entire series (or what I have read up to volume 30 in the past). Oh well, let's see how I react to the rest of the volumes in this arc.

One of my fave anime episodes!! Laxus and the thunder legion pull a prank/fight thing to see who is better.

This is a really cool fight and I understand why Laxus is doing this but at the same time he should do this a deffrent way but this was really well written and fun to see unfold.

KU manga

13-16. The problem with manga is that it's so easy to binge read and that's what I did. The entire Laxus vs Fairytail arc read and done. Jellal is over and done with, Lucy's father trying to get money out of her and Laxus realising what's actually in his heart. His reaction to Fairy law damage was funny.

I couldn’t read the climax of the story of the paradise tower without tears. A scene that Erza could cry with both of her eyes because of finding a purpose for living and Nakama made me sooooooo impressed. I was a fan of Erza but I changed to a “big” fan of her!! Also, I was glad that Jubia found a new home.

The events at the Tower of Heaven have passed, and Erza invites her family to join Fairy Tail, when they opt not to, instead choosing to see more of the world, we finally get back to the guild, which has two new members. The admittance of Juvia was an expected development, but I was surprised when Gajeel also joined.

However, his joining provides the high point in this volume for me. When Jet and Droy confront him later about what he did to them when his former guild attacked Fairy Tail, he just lets them fight and doesn't fight back - even when Laxus carelessly joins the fray with his immensely powerful lightning magic.

I love this whole scene. Jet and Droy are in the wrong, but you understand where they're coming from. Gajeel won't fight them because he wants to be accepted by the guild. And Laxus, who pages earlier set into motion the next arc, is shown to be powerful, careless and somewhat uninterested in the well-being of his guildmates. Its a great setup for what happens next, as he takes seven guild members hostage and set the rest of the guild unwillingly into a friend vs friend match all over the city.

Alzack! One of my favorite background characters finally moves to the forefront a bit, but man is it in a bad light. :) Still, can't fault him for his devotion to his partner!

My review is for the whole manga so far (50 volumes). Fairy Tail is set in a fantasy world where wizards join guilds to make a living, and help the population who have no magic and cannot face certain threats. Lucy is such a wizard looking for a guild, and after meeting Natsu she joins his guild Fairy Tail. I watched the anime first and I prefer the anime look, but the drawings do get better after some volumes. The regions do look pretty, and the cities as well. The manga is packed with humor and action. The battles between the wizards are fun to watch, and are never drawn out unnecessary. The manga has more serious storylines where the past of the wizards in the guild are revealed. There are plenty of wizards in the guild to root for. Another good aspect of the manga are the great amount of female characters that are powerful and capable, like Erza, whether they're enemies, part of the guild or friends. There are some light romantic touches too in the manga.

The downsides are that there are way too much of fan service and nudity, and also way too many big-breasted female characters.

This anamational book has inspired me because of the content and because of what the writer was trying to put out there I especially like one of the characters call Natsue. Natsue is one of the most funniest characters because he has a great sense of humor Natsue is a fire type wizard and I very strong and is a very hearty person in this story

After a little coda from the Tower of Heaven arc, the team returns to the Fairy Tail guild hall, which has finally been rebuilt after the Phantom Lord fight. The hall is huge and sprawling and welcomes new members Juvia and Gajeel, former members of Phantom Lord. So the newcomers aren't too popular. A reporter from a wizard magazine shows up to do a story on the new hall. The guild members make a bit of a bad impression which comes through in the article. Master Makarov, head of Fairy Tail, is not too happy, especially when his grandson Laxus comes back. Laxus is mad that the guild looks so weak, especially since he wants to lead the guild at some point. So Laxus sets in motion battles between the Fairy Tail members which occupies the last third of the book.

In addition to the main plot, the book contains some hints at future story lines--Natzu's trainer, the dragon Igneel, makes a brief appearance. Ultear, Jellal's ally on the Wizard Council, reveals she had more going on and that Zeref is not done yet. They are intriguing hints but no payoff is in this volume.

The book also has a lot of gratuitous "cheesecake." Lucy decides she want to be a star in the magazine article so she vamps it up for the reporter. Later, during a harvest festival in town, the guild hosts a "Miss Fairy Tail" contest which involves a lot of the guild members in bikinis.

The book has the usual notes in the back on Japanese culture.

This will be my full review for this entire series. I already read this comic from volume 1-30. Suppose there 50 volume more of this series but I prefer not to finish it as I don't really like the time-skip idea in this series.

To clarify, I love the idea of time-skip. But, in this series, I really hate it. It make Natsu and other main member weaker. Why make them weaker? I want to see MC progress throughout the series. Then, suddenly become weaker. Not to mention when MC want to win each battle, power of friendship keep coming back each battle.

Furthermore, there are a lot of un-explained things happened in this series. The dots are not connected rather than scattered throughout the series. It just there to fill the plot-hole. Rather than explaining, Mr Hiro keep continuing the series and keep adding new characters each volume.

So, after the time-skip, I determine to stop reading this series. I don't want to ruin my memories of this awesome series. For most part, this series actually had huge potential because of interesting and lovable character, but the plot is keep on damaging this series slowly.

This was a real solid volume with a great introduction to the next big challenge facing Fairy Tail and our favorite wizards! First off, Juvia, girl why’d you have to get a hair cut? It’s not a good look, sorry but I still love you. Second, I was not expecting Gajeel to act the way he did in the volume but man am I ready to see how his actions play out for the rest of this battle storyline!

I really enjoyed this volume a lot and I’m so happy we are finally going to see the tension between Laxus and Gramps finally come to fruition. It’s going to be epic and I can’t wait. Also, I could not stop laughing when Natsu hit that wall! My cheeks still hurt from all the laughing!

Even though it got me laughing like always, there was just a little extra spark that was missing from this volume to really wow me. Maybe it was the magazine and Lucy’s response to it or something else around that point but I just couldn’t give it a 5 star.

I rate this 3.5 stars.

When I watched this arc in the anime a few years ago and then watched some of the future arcs, it ended up being my least favourite arc along with the Lullaby one. I'm dreading reading the next few volumes because of that so I might just skip them or read them really quickly so that I can get to the better arcs faster. I enjoyed the first few chapters though. I love seeing the Fairy Tail members just having fun. They needed that, especially after how heavy the last one got. It also keeps these long running series balanced instead of just going fight after fight after fight.
