Sadie Jennings was used to being protected. As the niece of Sean Taggart, and the receptionist at McKay-Taggart Group, she was constantly surrounded by Alpha men more than capable, and willing, to lay down their life for her. But when she learns about a friend in trouble, she doesn't hesitate to leave town without a word to her uncle to help. After several harrowing weeks, her friend is now safe, but the repercussions of her rash act linger on.

Chase Jackson, no stranger to dangerous situations as a captain in the US Army, has volunteered himself as Sadie's bodyguard. He fell head over heels for the beautiful woman the first time he laid eyes on her. With a Delta Force team at his back, he reassures the Taggart's that Sadie will be safe. But when her past catches up with her, Chase has to use everything he's learned over his career to keep his promise...and to keep Sadie alive long enough to officially make her his.

Hmmm...well this was an interesting read...Masters and Mercenaries is one of my favorite series, and this whole "crossover" thing that seems to be so popular nowadays in Romancelandia had me intrigued. So I figured I would give these six side books a read since I was intrigued by more than a few of the guys being featured. We meet both Chase and Sadie (briefly) in the M&M series, and I couldn't wait to read more about Sean Taggart's niece.

description

My main issue with this book? I felt like I was dropped in the middle of an ongoing story concerning Sadie. I am guessing her story starts in another book. Which one I have NO clue, but assume one of Miz Stokers? I'll be honest; this perturbed me a little bit. And maybe this is just how these crossovers work? I don't know as this is the first one I have attempted to read. But I already have to have read at least some of the M&M series to know who these characters are, and now apparently I also need to read at least one (maybe more) book(s) by this author to actually get WTF happened to Sadie before THIS book begins. Like I said, perhaps this is how they are done. I don't know; I do know that being dropped into a story already half over had me disappointed, and my rating reflects that.

description

NOW...all that being said, the writing was still very good. This was my first Susan Stoker book, and she has an excellent flow to her writing. The characters were very likable. I loved seeing Sean Taggart. Chase was a sweety. Sadie was likable. It is a super short book, and the sex doesn't come until very late in the book. I wish it would have been a bit spicier. There is basically zero angst and no OW or OM drama. Last, it was all wrapped up in a lightning speed resolution. So ya, it was OK. I am sure it would have been better had I read whichever book had the beginning of Sadie and Chase's story, but it was what it was.

I found this book to be immensely frustrating. I felt like it dropped readers right in the middle of an already ongoing story with only little hints about what was happening. My understanding was that each novella from this Masters & Mercenaries crossover was going to be a standalone, but this book certainly did not feel like it was.

The entire plot was entangled in Susan Stoker's previous books plot and, I believe, even featured the same villain as the last story. It made it very hard for me to understand what was going on and to feel the connection between Sadie and Chase. He was already declaring her "his" only a few pages in which was also the first time this book was showing them together. Some of what happened when Sadie first arrived in this timeline was mentioned and explained but not enough that I ever felt like I knew with any type of certainty what was happening.

Rescuing Sadie was my first book by this author and one I was actually very excited to read since I've heard amazing things about her. Unfortunately for me this novella just didn't hit the mark but I'm going to give her another try since I did like her writing style and saw a lot of potential in it.

I absolutely loved this book! Susan Stoker does suspense like no other. Chase was everything and more. Watching him care for Sadie was beautiful. I enjoyed it so much I knew I had to go back and read the rest of this series. So fantastic!

This novella definitely packs a punch!

It had all the goodness I’ve come to expect from the author all wrapped up in a nice little bundle: sassy and strong women, hot Alpha AF males and a nice little touch of cray cray that even surprised me, but kept me turning the pages until the very end.

I adored Chase and Sadie, I did. Chase is all kinds of Alpha AF male: Protective, honest and honorable. I loved how upfront he was with Sadie, even when she doubted him, and never wavered once. Sadie is one tough woman. She sassy, independent and yet knows when to accept help when it’s offered. What she went through would have broken most people, and while it has left its mark on her, she’s picked herself up and is working through it. Their journey to their HEA was a fun one. It is slow burn that is filled with a lot of sexual tension (that once it broke it was all kinds of hotness!), but considering the situation they found themselves in it totally worked. I enjoyed watching them open up to each other and found one of their disagreements to be quite interesting, and loved where they were at in the end.

This really was a fun read and it can be read as a standalone even though it is tied to the events that happen in Justice for Milena. The author does a great job at getting you caught up with that situation so you can understand Sadie’s role in it. But I must admit that part of my enjoyment of this book was that it was set in the Delta Force Heroes world and getting to hang out with some of the characters from it was a lot of fun. DFH was my introduction to the author and is my favorite of her series.

So, if you’re looking for a fun, quick read with great characters then this is a must read!

So, let me start with this; I haven't read ANYTHING from Susan Stoker before Rescuing Sadie (I know! Where the heck have I been??!!) Let me also say this will DEFINITELY not be the last book I read from Susan Stoker, because it was FREAKING AWESOME!!!!

This novella, part of Lexi Blake's Masters and Mercenaries Crossover Collection, reads more like a novel than a novella! It's full to bursting with drama and intrigue, lust and an insta-love that is really a slow-burn (my FAVE) to end all slow-burns! A H that would lay down his very life to protect the one he loves and a h that stands up to a crazed stalker and helps take him down? YES, PLEASE!!!

Like I said, I will DEFINITELY be checking out more of this author's offerings (I think I'll start with Justice for Milena so I can get the back story for Sadie and Chase's relationship :) ) I highly recommend this compelling, addictive, off-the-charts SIZZLING read to ANYONE!

Rescuing Sadie might have been an even great experience for me if I had read Justice for Milena. The story is obviously continuing from where the story ended in that book and since I haven't read the book, I couldn't help but feel like I was missing something. Susan Stoker is quickly becoming an author I like and enjoy her writing style, so I couldn't help, but like this story. I liked the main characters and the plot. I don't want to write anything else, about the book, just that you should have read JFM. Some things might be clearer then. It's my third favorite book in the crossover.

Ever since Sadie Jennings, Sean Taggart’s niece, was introduced in the Masters and Mercenaries series, I wanted Lexi Blake to give readers Sadie’s story. Sadie is such a sassy and spunky woman, and I knew that whoever she gave her heart to would be in for a rude awakening since Sadie is such an independent woman who, at times, can be a bit too impulsive for her own good.

So, when I saw that Sadie’s story was going to be told, and it was part of Lexi Blake’s crossover collection, I immediately signed up for an ARC, even though I wasn’t familiar with Susan Stoker’s writing. I thought it would be awesome to get a character’s story I really wanted and also be introduced to a new writer, and while I will say that Susan Stoker’s writing is exactly the kind of writing I enjoy, because I had no background of her Delta Force Heroes’ series, I felt like I only got part of the story because when Rescuing Sadie begins, parts of what’s happened to Sadie have already occurred, and now, the characters are dealing with the fallout of her choices and what that means for not only Sadie but for the hero, Chase Jackson, as well, because it’s his Delta Force world that Sadie’s story occurs.

Sadie and Chase’s story had the suspense, intrigue, and character chemistry that I love to read about, but I couldn’t feel the full effect of all of those characteristics because I felt like I was immersed into the storyline in the middle of things and because the action was already occurring or had already occurred, there weren’t many details offered that would allow me to be on the same page as readers who are familiar with Stoker’s series, so I just couldn’t catch on to everything that was happening in a way that allowed me to fully understand the entire story line.

I will say, though, that readers who are familiar with both series or probably just the Delta Force Heroes’ series would definitely enjoy Sadie and Chase’s book and not feel like they’ve been placed between the end of the rising action/climax of the story line, which would make a big difference to the understanding of everything that had already occurred before the book began.

I cannot believe that this is the last book in the Crossover Collection (sheds a few tears) and also why has it taken me this long to read a Susan Stoker book. Chase and Sadie's story will have you captivated from the first page and this pair will also steal your heart. We have met Sadie along the way with her being the niece to Sean Taggart and also working for McKay-Taggart. Sadie shows us that not only are the men built tough in the Masters and Mercenaries series but the women are too. Captain Chase Jackson has been given the duty to protect Sadie from a seriously evil man but he also wants to own her heart and soul because the minute he held her in his arms she had stolen his. Rescuing Sadie is full of suspense, drama and angst. As these two realize that there is no way that a connection like they have should be ignored, it will take sharing secrets that lay heavily on their souls for them to realize just what they have. An absolutely fantastic book to finish this collection on and also the wake up call I needed to one click some more of these Delta Force Heroes.

3.5 stars. This was a pretty good book. Rescuing Sadie is a crossover with Sadie, from Lexi Blake's Masters and Mercenaries series, and Chase, from Susan Stoker's Delta Force Heroes series. Sadie is Grace Taggart's niece and has worked as the receptionist at McKay-Taggart. She helped her friend Milena escape from some very bad, insane guys who are still on the loose and one of them, Johnathan, is now obsessed with finding her, stalking her and forcing her to bear his children. To keep Sadie safe, her uncle Sean Taggart has enlisted Chase as her personal bodyguard and to keep her safe. They begin to fall for each other as Chase keeps her safe and they catch the bad guys.

I have read a few books by Ms. Stoker before and they were mostly just okay for me. But I decided to give her a try again for this crossover collection because I am a big fan of Lexi Blake and the Masters and Mercenaries series. This book was actually better than I expected and than other books I've read by this author. But I still didn't totally and completely love it. I felt like I was starting this book way behind on the storyline. Sadie's story begins in a previous book, Justice for Milena, which I had not read, and I honestly did not quite understand everything that happened. Sadie met Chase in that book so their relationship had already kind of begun before this book. I was pretty confused through much of the book and I didn't think this book read well as a standalone. Still, I liked Sadie and Chase in general. They did not have a lot of chemistry, but their story was interesting and enjoyable. There is insta-love on Chase's part, but Sadie took a little bit of convincing to give him a chance.

Overall, though, this was an entertaining, suspenseful, easy read, as well as a great addition to this crossover collection series!

Rescuing Sadie by Susan Stoker is part of The Lexi Black Crossover Collection, as well as Susan’s Delta Force Heroes series. This novella tells the story of Chase Jackson, a captain in the US Army and the woman that literally brought him to his knees.

Sadie Jennings has always been protected. As the niece of Sean Taggert of McKay-Taggert, she has always been surrounded by strong men. But when Sadie is threatened after trying to help her friend, she finds herself protected by Chase Jackson. But Chase makes her feel things she never felt before.

Chase Jackson life is all about danger, but when Sadie is threatened, no job has ever been as important as keeping her safe. Because since the first time he saw Sadie, he knew she was his and he would do anything to protect her. I loved Chase, he was all alpha, strong and determined.

I loved how strong Sadie was. She was not afraid to step up when needed, but when danger gets too close, can Chase keep her safe? I loved all the men in this story. They were so protective and yeah totally alphas, but also very caring. This was my first read by Susan Stoker, but I am looking forward to reading more.

I’m not really sure what to say about this one. I didn’t love it. I didn’t hate it. The characters are likable, but having read neither series by either author, I never really felt a connection to anyone.

The story itself is good. There is suspense, the threat of danger, and romance, but what sometimes seems to happen is in military-esque romances are these side comments that spout military slogans of sort. It doesn’t detract from the story but it normally throws me out of the romance I’m reading. This happened quite a bit.

I would imagine readers who love these series will give this one 4-5 Stars, but for me it was just okay.

3.5 : You’re literally dropped right into the middle of the action with this crossover collection title - which is fine - except I didn’t know it and thus spent the whole read feeling outta the loop. I think had I read the book prior (or even books, as there are some wonderfully sexy alpha hero supporting characters & their heroine’s) I would’ve LOVED this book. Solid story telling, action, suspense & romance.

I was lucky enough to get an Advanced Reader Copy of "Rescuing Sadie" and I LOVED IT! I haven't read all of Susan Stoker's or Lexi Blake's books, but I was able to follow along nicely.

Sadie and Chase are super hot, the attraction is instant, the males are totally alpha, and the suspense is edge-of-your seat. If you want a quick read with a big pay-off. This is the book for you!

Sadie Jennings niece of Sean Taggart and also working at the McKay-Taggart Group is so used to being around Alpha males, ones who are more the willing, capable and would lay their lives down for her.
The after math of her visit a friend (Milena) who needed help she went and did not tell her Uncles either, but now the aftermath of this is catching up to her.
Chase Jackson, is no stranger to danger, as a Captain in the US Army he is quite capable of handling anything and everything to protect Sadie.
He has fallen in love with the feisty red head and with a Delta Force team at his back, he reassures her Uncles that Sadie will be safe. And he will have to use everything he has learned to keep his promise.
It is a great story, full of love action and Alpha's, some old friends are here too, Annie, her usual fun self, Ghost, Fletch, Emily and Rayne , Fish and Bryn are also mentioned in the story, its a story that tells you about what love can do, and how Alpha man can mange to save the day.

Chase sure knows how to give a girl a compliment, "Sadie’s eyes popped open and she stared at Chase. “You’re not too big. Your ***s are perfect.” Chase knows when to give in, “let me see.” It wasn’t a question that time. Sighing, as if he knew she wouldn’t stop asking until he gave in, Chase turned so she had better access..." I liked this novella Chase was very protective.

Rescuing Sadie by Susan Stoker is one of those crossovers that I had a hard time getting into the story line merely for the fact that Susan Stoker didn’t make this book a standalone in my opinion since Sadie’s story began in a previous book and so this novella starts from there. With that being said, this book was good but not great. Definitely had that insta-love story if you are fans of that.

Chase is Rayne’s brother and a Captain in the Army doing counter-terrorism. Chase volunteers to protect Sadie after helping to rescue her in another novel, apparently in another series that I haven’t read but that crosses over to this series for this story. This series definitely has its flaws, but one of the strengths is typically the respect and courtesy the male leads have for the females. Examples of this are that although these are romances, the leading couples are mostly not rushing to the sack but forming a loving relationship first, they protect each other fiercely, and are very thoughtful of their partners. Some of the details in Chase and Sadie’s story didn’t live up to that ideal. First is Chase’s nickname for Sadie is “Sparky” which is just lame and holds no appeal to me for her character. Initially she takes it as an insult, too, but he proclaims its positive connotations and keeps using it. Another was a scene where Fletch and Chase were totally condescending to her, which wasn’t written to come off that way, but did. Another was when they first had sex, he could see her wince with pain and knew he was hurting her (although not protesting or wanting him to stop), but he “couldn’t stop” because he was so overwhelmed with passion. Isn’t that the antithesis of the strong male protector fantasy hero? Also, after their first time having sex, he was going to get up and leave, which is bizarre for a romance fantasy. And to top it off, he leaves the seat up on the toilet and wants her around to do the laundry! Come on, Stoker. This is a romance novel. We want personal flaws like over-protectiveness, a disfiguring scar, fear of bugs, or missing half a limb, but not a man who values a woman for her laundry skills. I read this novella as an ebook. 2.5/5

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

This is part of the Masters and Mercenaries crossover series that is being released by a number of super talented authors. I am so happy to be reading these books and reviewing them. I am huge M and M fan, and this was another great addition to the series. I am also up to date with the Delta Force Heroes, so got a double treat with this read!

Sadie left Dallas and the reception at the MacKay-Taggart group a while ago, much to the guys' dismay (even if they wouldn't admit it) and here we catch up with what she has been doing. And, as it turns out, she is in need of protection herself after being held by one of the perpetrators of a paedophile ring, who is now on the run. As luck would have it Chase Jackson, one of the Delta Force who rescued her, is most definitely planning on taking care of her - in fact he is so certain that she is "the one" he intends to never let her go. I love his certainty and his patience (well sort of patience!).

We get to meet up with Ghost, and Fletch and their families, and are reminded of the importance of the family you make, especially in times of trouble. And these guys certainly have to suffer through some trouble. I had to stop reading at a couple of points because I needed to catch my breath. I should have trusted Ms Stoker, because though dramatic it was just the perfect way to get the result that we all wanted.

Hot, sexy and certain of their minds and hearts, Chase and Sadie are perfect for each other.

Marie's Tempting Reads ARC Review:

A Lexi Blake crossover featuring some of our favorite people from Susan Stoker AND Lexi Blake's books! Rescuing Sadie has ALL THE FEELS, ALL THE HIGH OCTANE SUSPENSE, AND ALL MY FAVORITE CHARACTERS AND ONE SENSATIONAL, HEART-SWOOPING STORY!

I KNEW the moment I found out about this crossover it was going to be something I NEEDED to read...and I. Was. Right. All my favorite Delta Force characters are here along with some of my ALL time favorite Masters & Mercenaries characters too. In this heart-thumping story, things pick up pretty much where things left off for Sadie and Chase from Justice For Milena. But I think things get a bit more heated in a very sensual and most delightful way all while things increase from the danger to Sadie, Chase, the Delta heroes with some of our Masters & Mercenaries heroes come together with a force that I swore made my knees weak and my heart melt, made my stomach swoop and dive and made me want to see EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM together MORE in the future. Susan Stoker brings her signature touch with Rescuing Sadie but with some of our crossover heroes thrown in the mix, there was even sexier and action-packed flair that was ALLURING as ALL GET OUT. This is one INSANELY GOOD READ...like drop what your reading and pick up Rescuing Sadie TODAY and dive into an adventure that will have you scrambling for more.

Rescuing Sadie gets a SUPERB FIVE SHOOTING STARS!

MAKE ABSOLUTELY SURE you have read Justice for Milena 1st. This almost seems like part 2. If you have not read Justice for Melina you will have MAJOR SPOILERS.

Of course I hadn't read that one yet. It would be best read immediately after this book.

This book would have been much better if I HAD read Justice for Milena 1st. I was looking forward to TJ so I guess he's coming up soon for me. Even though I NOW KNOW what happens. I just might wait long enough to hopefully forget what happens.

IF NOT, I'll be all...

4 Star Review of Rescuing Sadie by Susan Stoker
This is part of the current Lexi Blake Crossover Collection and written by Susan Stoker an author I am familiar with. I am a huge fan of Lexi Blake and happily admit that the Master & Mercenaries series is one of my all time favourite series.
When I first started reading Rescuing Sadie I was rather confused as I felt that there was a whole back story that I had no idea about. Honestly, I felt like I had been dropped into a book half way through it. I subsequently learnt that in fact Sadie featured heavily in Justice For Milena and this book is in my opinion linked heavily to the previous book. Having said that I did enjoy the crossover the story as it was well written. I felt that I would have enjoyed it more if I had know the back story before reading Rescuing Sadie.
Sadie being the niece of Sean Taggart is used to Alpha men who protect their family at all costs. Chase Jackson could almost certainly be a Taggart as he is cut from the same cloth. He is not afraid of a fight and as a Captain in the US Army has known danger on more than one occasion.
The attraction and chemistry between Sadie and Chase is almost off the charts as Chase struggles to protect Sadie from Jonathan Jones. Will danger pull these two apart of will they work together to destroy those who are trying to keep them apart?

I enjoyed this title overall. I liked Sadie and Chase together, and I liked that she really did believe he was not interested in her. She was wrong, and he let her know this, in no short order.

However, I thought the declaration he gave her was a little too quick.

I liked that we got to know the characters, and the way they were not only with one another, but with others in their lives.

However, there were a few points in the book where I felt it was a pretty safe guess as to the political affiliation of the author, which is something that annoys me in books. It wasn't bad in this one, but there were glimpses.

i think this is how I felt about most of the book...parts I enjoyed and parts I was not able to really connect with as well. I did enjoy it overall, and this is an author I really like, but this was not my favorite of the series. However, as a fan of the McKay/Taggart world, I was glad I read it.

I do recommend this title.

Now, I know Susan Stoker can do it all. This short story was packed with so much content I had to keep double checking the book length to be sure I hadn't misunderstood and it was indeed a full length novel. The story line was strong and well fleshed out, the characters were well developed and the writing never seemed hurried or thrown together.

We first heard of Sadie and Chase in Justice for Milenia. Sadie got herself mixed up in a pedophile ring while trying to help her friend Milenia and Chase was in on the rescue. One of the pedophiles escaped and wanted nothing more than to get his revenge on Sadie. Chase volunteered to keep Sadie with him and protect her until the bad guy was captured.

Chase had an instant attraction to Sadie but was pretty sure that she found him annoying. Either way he was biding his time until he knew for sure Sadie was safe before he made his move. Or that was his intention. It doesn't take long for the attraction to come a boil and the results were explosive. Too bad they are fighting a mad man instead of starting a life together now that they both know how the other feels.

Rescuing Sadie (Delta Force Heroes #7.5) by Susan Stoke & Lexi Blake
4.5 stars
M/F Romance
Triggers: Pedophile ring, stalking, attempted murder
I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.

This is a fast paced book that is absolutely gripping. Sadie is running from breaking open a giant pedophile ring - she has a stalker, Jonathan, who was helping to head the ring. He is a sick man who only wishes to create children to abuse.

Chase is a delta force hero, but in his mind, due to some past incidents, he is not feeling very hero like. Despite his reservations of talking about that incident, he feels comfortable with Sadie and reveals all to her.

These two have a chemistry that is undeniable. Chase has to bide his time and show Sadie that he really and truly means what he says. Sadie has to allow herself to be loved and show her vulnerable side.

I really enjoyed this story and am so excited that these cross overs are happening!

Rescuing Sadie is a crossover title sharing characters from Susan Stoker’s Delta Force Heroes and Lexi Blake’s Masters and Mercenaries series.

If you are not familiar with the Delta Force Heroes series, I would recommend reading Rescuing Milena first prior to this title, as the stories are interconnected. I’ve read every title in the Delta Force Heroes series, and I’m also familiar with Ms Blake’s Masters and Mercenaries series, so I was quite eager to read Rescuing Sadie.

Rescuing Sadie features Sadie Jennings and Chase Jackson, both characters have appeared in Rescuing Milena so I was quite familiar with them. Chase is an Army Captain, an alpha to the core, intelligent, strong, capable, protective and sexy. He’s very honorable and has an incredibly strong work ethic.

Sadie is the perfect match for Chase. She’s loyal, determined, selfless, compassionate and brave. Whilst he can come across as being a tad over protective she’s doesn’t let it control her actions. She’s not afraid to speak her mind and is quite feisty, strong, resilient and confident.

The attraction and chemistry Sadie and Chase feel is mutual and quite intense. Although this is a quick, fast paced novella length read it doesn’t lack for suspense, intrigue and drama. I love that so many of the previous Delta Force heroes and their partners appear throughout the storyline.

Another engaging and entertaining read from Ms Stoker and I look forward to seeing which hero she will feature next.
