This was a fairly solid read. They were old friends who fall in love. The hero was a virgin at 25 and the heroine was a rape victim. I think it might have been better if it was just one or the other. The story seemed rather short and it just felt like it was a bit skeletal. Still it was a nice easy read and I liked Mac's character. Didn't care so much for her.
Sweet sappy romance. Friends to lovers. This chick in not hot, they mention that many times. Amazing boobs but, otherwise, not beautiful. Ok. And he is a virgin. He talks about that a whole lot. And, I can’t say much else because I m too annoyed. He has sex with her without telling her. That really bothers me! I don’t know why. But she would have loved to know that. And they could have experienced that moment together but he was too embarrassed!? Afraid she would laugh? What? If she has been your best friend forever. And u love her and want to give your virginity to her.. then why would you not trust her enough to be caring with your secrets and gentle with your feelings?
Sooo dumb.
Virgin rating: Innocence of virgin hero: 1/5 Innocence in losing it: 3/5 Build up to losing it: 5/5 Hotness of losing it: 2/5 (couldn’t enjoy it because kept waiting for him to reveal) Busted touching himself: no
4 ½ Stars! ~ Pete aka Mac Macready had grown up with leukemia doubting his future. Over coming the disease, he achieved his dream of playing pro football. Now two years after a devastating injury to his leg, he's determined to get back in the game and he's needs the help of his best friend Jewel Whitelaw to help him. Only one person knows Jewel's biggest secret and that's Mac. And she needs his help to gain her confidence and over come her fears. Mac wants to help Jewel, only he's got a whopper of a secret too. I wasn't sure how Ms. Johnston was going to make this work, after all Pete is 25 ;) ... but his secret is indeed what the title suggests! An all around great read!
I really enjoyed this story. I liked the characters and storyline. I found it difficult to put the book down at times. I haven't read many romance novels recently but I really enjoyed how this one wasn't "too lovey-dovey;" I felt like this was a real story that could happen to real people. I don't recall reading any Western Romance books before and was skeptical if I would enjoy the genre; I found the story delightful even with the Western "hints." Not only was the storyline concentrated on a blossoming romance; but I found little life lessons here and there. One life lesson I absorbed was that if you really want something and you work towards that goal you can overcome any obstacles. Overall, it was a great storyline and I enjoyed reading about the characters and the romance that ensued.
This is a short read about two people who have their problems with relationships and making love. Neither one of them have ever made love and they are looking at each other for help. They started out as friends and was afraid to lose that friendship.
Not sure that Mac is really a virgin in my opinion. Although there was no cheating and no other woman sex scenes, there were a few scenes with another woman that was disgusting and ruined the romance. Congratulations to the heroine - She was not the hero's first, second, or even third choice. By the ending, I felt the best way to sum up my feelings on this work was "too little, too late".
