Would have loved to read this on Kindle so I could highlight, but apparently nobody bought the rights to publish it here in the US. I’ll probably have to read it again to take notes. Meanwhile, I’ve listened to the audio but not done the big charisma video exercise yet. Will be interesting to see what impact that has. So far, the only change I’ve noticed is a lot of paranoia that I’m inadvertently suggesting or presupposing that people do what I don’t want.

For that part, I definitely would have liked more application/how/examples. Now I feel like I should go read up on NLP.

Same with the part at the end about how charisma is a mix of things, and what really makes it is being an archetype. Huh? How am I supposed to do that?

Notes:
p. 272 You can't cheat an honest person... unless they choose to be cheated or deceive themselves into it. The author gives an example of an honest friend of his who kept letting some other "friends" rip her off--because she felt it would be unkind not to keep giving them the benefit of the doubt and believing what they said. So basically, she deceived herself by not facing the truth about them, and that opened the door for them to cheat her. Sounds mighty familiar!

...
Update (July 5):
I did the videos every day for an entire week, even though I really didn't like it. Some takeaways:
- I noticed that one of the things I was most critical of was the oversized clothes I was always wearing. I've let go of 18 pounds over the past year or so, and all of my old clothes are way too big. I hadn't noticed how sloppy they looked until I did this exercise. I bought some new clothes that fit my new body. I feel great in them!
- I could only think of two women who I see as confident and imagine that they consider themselves to be beautiful. Most women I could think of, either I know they have a lot of negativity toward how they look, or I'm pretty sure. It seems really sad that I could only think of two people for this! I haven't thought of any others since, either.

I have read several of Paul McKenna's previous works and I really enjoy his writing style. He has a talent of being able to explain things simply and clearly and to motivate you and this latest book is no exception.
I wanted to be able to have a positive influence on a conflict in my life and this book was just what I needed.
Some of the ideas presented are extensions of those in previous books, but there are also new techniques that are specific too.
In conflict resolution, or in any other situation you want to influence, we are presented with ways to get agreement on something very broad and then start working on the detail. Probably common sense to some, but no harm in having a reminder.
The charisma side of the title wasn't really what drew me in, but who wouldn't want to be charismatic if they could be? The key to this being about confident and a congruence of verbal and non verbal communication.
This is a very good book and I particularly recommend it to those new to people management. There are many skills shown that will be enormously helpful to your ambitions. Many of these skills I learned the hard and slow way, so I see this as a fast track for the ambitious.

This is a no nonsense book on how to increase your influence and charisma. The Author has done a good job of putting it down as a book though many may argue that it is an in born trait and not something to be learned. There are quite a few practical exercises that you can use on a day to day basis that would really help you. Book is also written in a simple manner with no complex jargon. Wherever you are in your career this is a good book to read.
