What I liked about this novel....
Wow, what a good read! I really enjoyed this interracial novel with all of its drama and characters that were off the chart being very defined, developed and just interesting. I liked how this author was able to bring us a single mom[now divorced] with her children doing so well. This love story is definitely one that will really will keep you on the edge of your seat turning the pages until the end...and that ending! This author really knows how to write a well written script that will keep your attention. Will Destiny and Jacob really be able get together and be a family in the end? Well, all I will say at this point is that we will have to wait to see!
What I didn't like...
I hate cliffhangers! So, with that you know you will have to wait until the next book to maybe get the rest of the story?

What I liked about this novel....

This book was definitely a page-turner for me. Some women don't know when a relationship has ended. An the to find out that the person you were in a relationship before with is not who you really thought they were. True colors will eventually appear when they get upset. I thought Jacob would have learned his lesson when Destiny tried telling him about how woman think. Once you end up breaking a relationship off with someone they don't seem to understand. They grasp the magnitude what a person is saying until something is done. Now for book 2.

This was a fun and funny book. The premise is current and entertaining at the same time. An interracial romance with a fun and sexy twist. What's a girl to do when she meets a panty dropping sexy man who blows her mind? Jump into bed with him of course! Destiny and Jacob start out hot and heavy with nowhere to go but down.
The problem starts when she realizes that her life is just not set up for wham, bam thank you ma'am sex with a virtual stranger. The characters in this story were fun and daring at times. The story was fast paced and made me laugh out loud. There were times when I couldn't believe that Destiny said that, or that Jacob had done that. The author did a good job of keeping both leads from being picture perfect.
The characters are all flawed in their own way. Add to that their well meaning and slightly crazy secondary cast of characters and you've got a fun filled story that will have you screaming in surprise. I have to warn you that this is a cliffhanger story, so you'll have to wait to see what happens next.

As a young black woman with a bitter ex-husband and two small kids, Destiny was really hesitant to hook up with billionaire Jacob Turner. They come from two very different worlds. Plus he has a crazy, racist and suicidal ex-girlfriend who ends up pistol whipping Destiny while Jacob is forced to listen to the attack on the phone. Crazy right? On to book # 2 to see how this ends! (Too many editing errors- at one point his employees called him Mr. Baker when his last name is Turner.)

I was not expecting this cliffhanger
I understood that Justine had some issues but I was not expecting cuckoo crazy. She wants Jacob back by any means necessary. She's a desperate woman resorting to desperate measures.
Montie, Destiny's ex, just wants her back because someone else wants her and his kids love him. That does not set well with Montie. Jacob is intruding on his territory.
Jacob has torn loyalty. He loves Justine but he is not in love with her. He feels loyal to her because they have been friends since kindergarten. He loves Destiny and her children. He loves the way he feels with her and how passionate their love is for each other. There are so many obstacles in the way of their HEA that they have to conquer. There's the obstacle of a billionaire empire, the obstacle of distance and the most important obstacle of the exes.
Shani wrote a compelling story about two people who had instant chemistry when they met and were compelled to get to know each other regardless of their different backgrounds. Both Jacob and Destiny are complicated characters with complicated problems to solve. Falling helplessly in love with each other, they now have to find a way to deal with the other's extra baggage so they can have their HEA.

This is Destiny and Jacob's story. My first book by this author.
I was surprised by how much I actually enjoyed this story. The story is a total emotional roller-coaster. The ex partners add to the drama especially Justine whom I dislike with a passion.
The story ends on a totally unexpected cliffhanger and now we need book 2 to see if Jacob can put right what he got wrong in book 1. It was page turner for me!

First of all, I love this love story. I fell hard for Jacob and the sex scenes were fiyah. BUT how you gonna leave us hanging like that? That Justine has lost her marbles and Jacob done made me mad as hell!! You wrong for that Shani. Good job and impatiently waiting for the next installment.

Very entertaining
Great plot. Like me, she doesn't believe in long drawn out Get togethers before the loving begins. Life's too short to do a bunch of chattering; get busy already! Can't wait to see what happens in book two!

2.00 Stars. (BW/WM). Audiobook with narration by Chantelle Clarke. Unbelievable. Drama over load. Insta-love after one night stand. Destiny Baker, a lower middle class divorcee with two children has a one night stand with Jacob Turner, a billionaire who is maintaining a caring relationship with his best friend and ex-live in girlfriend. In the beginning of the story, Destiny speaks well of her ex-husband; but later into the story, he's described as a jealous cad. Jacob loves his ex and feels responsible for her well being and chooses her concerns and threats of suicide over Destiny's. I did not buy into romantic love what the author show was two people who enjoyed each other sexually. They would say hello, have sex, vow their love, say good-bye and go their separate ways and repeat. To had insult to injury, the author had Jacobs ex-girlfriend spewing racist remarks and the reader is to believe that Jacob had no idea his best friend and almost wife held these views. Anyway story cliffs with Destiny being threatened by "crazy ex-girl friend".

Wow. This was wow...this was awful. The writing was bad but hilariously bad and the sex scenes were atrocious. If I have to read "he banged into her juices" one more time. Yeah...this was not good.
The drama..what little what little of it there was want bad, however, everything was so predictable and stereotypical.
The jealous exes, the random marriage after less than a year with each other, the children liking Jacob. NOTHING surprising happened at all. Even though it was a little over 100 pages and ended in a cliffhanger that I really don't care about...it was simple and flat.
The book The Test which was shorter is a masterclass of getting your point and plot across in a few pages.
Every character irritated nothing was likeable. The dialogue was juvenile and the race-baiting insults where just lazy.
I only read this and finished this because I was stuck in the hospital witho u to anything to read. This book did more harm to my recovery more than my heart failure did to my life extention.

Destiny is an independent African American woman who has an amazing job and two kids, she meets Jacob a wealthy white male, and their life changes after that. Destiny and Jacob isn't your typical biracial couple, they love and care for each other, and both adores the kids. With a confused ex husband and a bi-polar girlfriend they had their shares of up and down. The ending will leave you speechless and wanting more. Is this a must read? One click and see for your self.

Out of breath
I love Destiny and Jacob's love affair. I like the integration of her kids into the mix. I understand having loyal friendship, but Justine kept showing Jacob her true self and how manipulative she could be. He was in love with a good woman but had blind loyalty to another. Now, it appears it may cost him everything more valuable than money. Can't wait to read the rest.

Omg this book left me breathless!! After everything Destiny and Jacob Turner had been through, I thought things were finally falling in place. That dreadful dream Jacob was awaken to was the tip of destruction. Jacob's deranged ex girlfriend just didn't want to give up.
I can't wait to get a copy of the second book! I would recommend this book to others. My first read by Shani and it won't be the last!

God knows I wanted to choke Jacob at the end of this book, except I had to remember he isn't real, and it's okay to worry about your friends. But when your significant other is looking like someone killed their puppy because you're jumping out the bed to go check on your friend, you should probably lay back down. I hope Destiny put his gorgeous behind through it before she forgives him.

Okay so the book was not bad. But, the IR writers trend of writing books with cliffhangers is getting old. It is now the norm to find most books with a cliffhanger. The problem, just as in this book, they aren't believable. The book flowed until the end. It then goes south. I hope the next book is better but I doubt I will purchase it.

I am so mad. This book leaves you hanging at a critical spot and I was not aware this was a sequel book. I don't like being black mailed to read the next book. The desired method should lead you to read the next book because of the quality of the writing and love if the characters- not like this. I am done. Last book by this author!

The quality of the writing is poor, the story is pointless and boring, and the dialogue immature for the characters as they are described. I made it only half way to the end of this book before I gave up reading. Obviously, I won't be reading the next one in this series.

Received this book through Voracious Readers for an honest review. I enjoyed this book a lot just ticking through quite nicely, and then the end and subsequent cliffhanger which ended up with me purchasing the series boxset.
