Rune #4

Rune King's Daughter

Rate this book
Being King of the Draugr is shaping up to be more difficult than Erik anticipated.

Not only does he have to deal with the power vacuum created by the deaths of the First, but he and Nika have to deal with addicted vampires, taking over a business, and planning a wedding.

On top of all of this, his daughter Mia is on the run with a rogue werewolf. She thinks that the vampires hunting her were sent by her father. He needs to find her before those Draugr do, because there’s no guarantee that they’ll bring her back in one piece.

Nika has no love for Mia, considering everything she did to Erik, but she’s his flesh and blood, his only surviving child. Can he find her before the hunters do? And if he does, what will happen when he brings her back to Stockholm and his new bride?

For Nika, life as Draugr Queen is a head-trip she’s not quite ready for. She has a wedding to plan, more magic to learn, a truce to help broker, and the Dark Sisters’ narcotic ring to break. Add in a surly soon-to-be stepdaughter, and she might just want to take Erik and leave it all behind, ruling be damned.

With every new book added to the series, it just keeps getting better and better. There's more magic, more mystery, more political intrigue, just more of everything in this book than the previous ones. I love that Nika is getting a better handle on her abilities and it's very endearing that even though she's becoming this all-powerful magic user, she's humble about the fact that she still has a lot to learn. I really love the fact that even though the connection between them is so strong and undeniable, both Erik and Nika are concerned about making it last; that Erik worries about being a good enough man for her.

Wow, what a way to end the series. More mystery and political intrigue, keeps you looking for more action in this fourth book. Nika and Erik are both strong characters and I enjoyed the final chapters. This book held my interest until the very end. Really disappointed that this series had to end.
I purchased the box set of this series and decided to leave a review for the single books as well.

I got this as a freebie in some mass promotion, and I guess I missed that it wasn’t a stand alone. It was incredibly confusing and kind of boring, and I suspect this is because there are three books before it. The writing style, however, doesn’t suit me and there’s a lot of jumping around without much context so I don’t think I’ll try to get the first three to re-read.

Did not see that coming, I had my hopes that at least at the last moment that Mia would have had a change of mind and reconsider her opinion of her father, but the author got me there and pang it was over. Love it had me on my toes.

I volunteer to read this story. (More liked begged) this story has mature content. Please be advise.
You could read this story on its own but if you want to know more of the world of Erik and Nika I suggest you read the books before it.
I love paranormal/fantasy worlds and to read this story didn't hurt my eyes any. This a new author to me and i believe there is a great future for this author

This set of books has been interesting to read.
It begins and ends with a Rune Sword. The character development was somewhat lacks ng and the grammatical errors created pause to the flow.
I am perplexed by the higher than average ratings this series has acquired on Amazon, but there have not been that many who have posted a review. My personal opinion on this book is based on the overall writing style of the author and the lack of proofreading done before release. It would have garnered a higher response if it had been presented as a well developed story in one book as opposed to the broken down version it is here.
Each book ends well before reaching 100% on the Kindle and includes numerous bonus short stories by the same author.
This I am not a fan of, to say the least.
I enjoyed the overlapping of supernaturals and witches with Vikings, creating a premise of more than what you receive with this series. It lacked in many facets and eliminates some pertinent areas almost as a rushed dismissal. Characters are introduced and then it becomes confusing as to where they go or what happens to them at all. This installment above the others, even though it is short, contains more organized activity at first during a final battle, including how others openly feel about their new king and his rise to power.
Nika and Erik find their HEA after great personal loss on his part and is dismissed or justified by his actions when he was behaving poorly as the Viking he was born to be. All is quite resolved and possibly forgiven by the end and sadly leaves many unanswered questions.
I continue to hold the same opinion as I have with the previous books in that I read them due to being short and entertained by the difference in storyline based on other supernatural books I have read in the past, but would not recommend this series to others I know with the same interests.
This was not for me, though it appears that other readers found it to be better than I.
