What a great read!



This book was fantastic. I haven't read a lot of sci-fi romances but the few I've read have been growing on me. So I am glad I decided to give this one a shot. It's the first of the series and I hope the wait isn't too long before the next book is released. Definitely keeping an eye out for more!

Jasmine is a curvy woman on a mission to fulfill the one wish of the sick children in her foundation. They want to meet a real live alien. It shouldn't be that difficult considering a new species of aliens has taken up residence on Earth for almost two years now. But for some reason, her attempts to see a representative about this matter have all ended in disappointment. Determined not to fail this time, she has a plan to make someone, anyone, listen to her plea.

Tallis is in the wrong place at the wrong time when he happens to become the alien caught in Jasmine's protest. Then after doing the polite thing and listening to her request, he somehow ends up stuck being the one to fulfill it. Yet, it doesn't take long for Tallis and his internal feline half to decide they want more from this woman than an act of charity.

Unfortunately, tensions run high with the new alien citizens and earthlings still at odds. Tallis knows that he can never have a real relationship with Jaz, despite his entire being craving her. He worries for her safety and if rumor were to spread of an alien-human affair they would face opposition from both sides. However, the heart wants what it wants and soon the pair have little choice but to risk it all for love.

Jasmine was a nice character with a heart of gold. She went to bat for the kids in her charity and wouldn't back down until they got their wish. I liked her from the beginning. Tallis was a unique character, especially with him being sort-of a shifter. I enjoyed reading about his alien heritage and all of their technology.

The couple had good chemistry and boy were the love scenes hot with a capital "H". More than that, there was an emotional connection felt early on and the so the whole 'mate' concept never felt forced. Tallis surprised me more than once when he was so endearing yet dominant at the same time. I liked that side of him just as much as Jasmine did. *wink*

As for the plot, it also had some twists and turns that kept me guessing until the end. There is a bit of action here and there but nothing too explicit, except for the bedroom scenes. Though, I think my favorite part of the book was watching Tallis bicker with Itohan, who was almost like his magical familiar. Those two were funny at times.

In closing...
I wonder which alien will be next to find their own mate. I hope it's Deasun. Five suns!

Tallis Ba'reah was forced to leave his own planet. After a lot of years drifting through space Tallis and his people decided to start a new life on earth. They're different from humans and mostly keep to themselves. Tallis always puts his clan first. He'll do everything that has to be done to keep them safe. Together with his brothers he'll go to war if he needs to. Never has he been interested in humans, that is until he spots a woman who has handcuffed herself to a security desk. Tallis can never claim a human woman as his own, but is he strong enough to fight the temptation?

Jasmine Teale works with children who are seriously ill. She's does everything she can to fulfill their wishes, because they might be their last. The children have one big wish, to meet an alien. Jasmine has tried to get in touch with their office lots of times, but is being ignored. She decides it's time to take a different approach. For the Jendari children are sacred. It hurts Tallis's heart when he finds out why Jasmine went through all this trouble. He agrees to come with her to the hospital, even though he's risking his life while doing this. Jasmine can't deny that he's the most beautiful man she's ever seen. Does Jasmine have what it takes to understand how Tallis's world works?


Tallis and Jasmine have a connection from the very first time they meet. Tallis is a badass warrior but he also has his softer side. Every alien has an animal companion and I loved the animal connection in the alien way of life. Jasmine is a person who takes care of everybody. She's dependable and won't let anyone down. She's so sweet and even though she's scared of some aspects of Tallis's life she pulls herself together and does what needs to be done. I loved their view on love and how this sometimes also means letting go. It can offer new possibilities and I was cheering for Tallis and Jasmine to find their happy ending.

Tempting Flame is a unique love story. Normally I stay away from stories with aliens, but I'm so glad that I read a story that was out of my comfort zone this time. I've known D.J. Michaels from her Watchtower Knight series, which she wrote under the name Delwyn Jenkins. Ever since that first book I'm hooked on the way she builds up her magical worlds. D.J. Michaels describes Tallis and his world so vividly that I found it easy to believe that aliens like him are truly out there. It also made me think about the possibilities of other life forms. I've always been a strong believer of the idea that it isn't logical that there isn't a life form that resembles ours on all the planets that are out there. If those aliens would be anything like Tallis, they'd be more than welcome to live beside me on our planet. D.J. Michaels has created a brilliant story and I'm looking forward to the rest of this series.

Tempting Flame is a wonderful romance, a true story for the ages. I found the writing to be superb and provide a world where the world collides with its future, and the fight against prejudice on both sides fits right in with modern society and culture. I look forward to the future of the Jendari because though it looks bright there are clouds on the horizon.

So sweet.

This story was such a lovely story of forbidden love. I loved that Jaz wasn't the picture perfect model type. She was curvy and beautiful like a real woman. The way that Tallis loved her and made her feel like the most beautiful girl in the world, even though his world would never accept her, was so incredibly sweet. I can't wait to dive into book two in the series. Xo

Alien invasion

Be patient....after you plough through everything that's Jendari, the story is surprisingly sweet, romantic and good. A little bit of comedy thrown in as well. Worth a read.

The world building in this book is really a thing of beauty. It’s well detailed without being boring and I for one, enjoyed the hell out of it. I just absolutely love Tallis and Jasmine. Even their awkward moments are adorable! I can't wait to read more in this series!
