A Very Disappointed, Very Loyal Reader Finally Has To Be Honest...
I haven't written a review for this series in a long time because I keep waiting for something new and\or exciting to happen. I have been a HUGE fan of the entire Shade of Vampire series, but things are starting to become predictable and a little ridiculous. I remember back to the beginning of Sophia and Derek and how much I loved reading every new book because I learned so much about the characters, the writing was well thought out with very interesting plot lines and twists and that continued up until the new books outside this series started being written. The first time jump left me so confused, I had to write a cheat sheet in order to keep track of which kids belonged to what parents and what they were (Whether they were half supernatural and half human, human with supernatural parents, a quarter one type of supernatural and a quarter another and half something else, ect.) and It was so frustrating as a loyal fan and devoted reader to need a cheat sheet to get through not just one book, but the rest of the series from then on. I just keep adding in although it has finally gotten a little easier after the second time jump because it is listed at the beginning of the chapter. It used to be so interesting reading about the thought processes that these supernatural characters went through in deciding if having children (becoming human for the vampires) was safe because they couldn't protect their children as effectively as humans as they could as vampires. I have often wondered if it would come up that the different supernatural races would have problems conceiving or that something, a gene mutation for example would produce a child that is entirely new to the supernatural realm. I hate that the new installments seem to be shorter and shorter and have gotten so completely predictable. I am a huge Stephenie Meyer fan and fell in love with the Twilight series which led me to authors like Bella Forrest. I was disappointed when the series ended and she started hyping her new book The Host and I tried reading it, but it just wasn't that captivating to me like Twilight. I remember people getting angry because "if we truly loved her, we should love her other books too and just be supportive). That made no freaking sense to me. There was a sense of magic, the same draw that sucked me into Sophia's world as soon as I read the very first Shade of Vampire. There is no question to me at least that Bella Forrest is a talented and very creative author and I was so thankful that she kept the series alive, but and it's a big but, why keep it alive if you are not committed to the same level of passion as you were at the beginning. The books are much shorter and they feel almost like a chore to keep readers like me appeased while the new series and books are promoted. You can read the excitement in the descriptions of the new books of the other series while it feels like the SOV series is just a format to promote them. I tried reading the other new books from Bella Forrest too, but they just aren't the same. I loved her spin on the supernatural world, but it's getting so hard to download the latest book and be disappointed because I can pretty much tell what is going to happen before I finish the first few chapters which is also about 35% of the book. PLEASE, as a huge fan of your work, either take a break and work on new stuff if that makes you happy and then come back to SOV later when you are really feeling that universe again. Maybe it's just me, but I really want to know what's going on with Derek and Sophia after all these years. I am still a SOV fan, but will be giving up soon if things continue the way they are.
I could not put this book down! The chemistry between Draven and Serena spurned me to keep reading and reading! The book begins out by the tree that Phoenix disappeared under along with the Daughter who was still sleeping way deep under the tree. But the cocoon they are both sleeping in rises out of the ground and Serena, desperate to get her brother back, hits it and breaks it open prematuraly. This results in the Daughter knowing nothing about herself or her sisters or whats going on in the world or what her purpose in this war might be. We learn that Phoenix and the Daughter are connected deeply, when one sleeps the other sleeps, when one is injured, the other is injured the exact same way though nobody totally understands the implications of it. The oracle, Phoenix, Aida, and Vita have more visions where they see scenes from the past, present, and future respectively. Vita's vision has a tremendous impact on Draven and he chooses to shut out Serena for their stay. While I was reading this book, it was almost as if I was right there living it with Serena. She could not understand how Draven could be all over her one minute and shutting her out and being an absolute jerk the next minute. Jovi and Anjani's relationships develops a little bit more. Jovi is careful not to push her too much but cannot deny that he is totally, undeniably into her and she keeps pushing him away. Aida and Field get together. Aida works on her visions, trying to control where she goes in them and how long they last; trying to get as much information out of them as possible while Field lets her know that he is there for her and will be there for her in any way he can. Draven has a plan to make it to Azazel's castle to rescue an important figure in helping them with their war but he needs the books that the swamp witches wrote. They head off to one of the volcanoes where one of the books is being hidden and learn one of them has to go through a trial to get it. Serena decided to prove that she is willing to do anything to help in this war and decides to do the trial herself to try to obtain the book. The end of the book is a surprise and not a good one. The connection they made in the last book with the Red Tribe, something major happens with them and it is a major blow in the search for allies in their war.
I really wish there was POV from Field. With things getting up between him and Aids I'd love to know what is going on in his head. As happy as I am for Aida getting her dream come true I felt like Field deserved someone else. Someone he had an instant undeniable attraction to not someone he's known for years and had to be told of her crush on him. Idk that's just my opinion. I'm so glad Draven came to his senses. He had me going for a second. Vita's visions certainly paint a very bleak future. Too many things seem to be going wrong and I can't even begin to guess at how this war will be won against Azazel. The birth of the last daughter doesn't seem to have brought much out a solution although Phoenix and get make a very cute couple. I also adore her character and can only hope she doesn't turn into like her other sisters.
This series is really picking up now. The storyline is getting much more intense. The final few chapters were particularly gripping my favourite parts being:
-Serenas determination to prove to the druid they are better together and him no not letting her go -the whole of the diamond box with the book in. Being potentially trapped forever with question after question would be one of the worst ways to go. -Vita finally using her fire abilities more and really coming into her own
And earlier in the book I enjoyed bijarki finally opening up to aida. Describing how the succubi wanted him the night before but he could only think of her. My heart melted a little when he said 'you have my full attention, young fire fae.

What a great series so far! I am constantly in awe of Bella Forrest and her ASOV series! I have read all 45 books in the series and they just continue to be a page turner... i can't put the books down and I can't wait to move on to the next one! My favorite thing about these series is how they follow through the generations of Novaks.. from generation to generation... all the obstacles this clan of novaks overcome... the story line is great..seriously there hasn't been a single book I haven't liked! if you are looking for a good series to get completely HOOKED on and spellbound by.. .this is the one!
Thank you Bella Forrest, for giving us another exciting piece of some of our favorite hero's of the shade. As we get further in to tangled lives and of the newest adventures from the shade, it is getting exciting with love blossoming all over and finally everyone is giving into their senses and facing the truth about they are feeling towards each other and with the threat for war on the rising, the live is even more precious. I'm do addicted to this series. I'm off to download book #46. so add this book to your reading list and find out just how awesome this series is. you will not be disappointed.
I gave this one 4/5 because it served to move the story forward but it didn't make me sit on the edge of my seat like the last one. Also I though this was the penultimate book but I guess not... maybe I was confused. Anyhoot, can't wait to return to the shade and close out this story!
Theory: - In Vita's vision of the future are the daughters gone because the land is so ravaged that they too died with it, after all they are OF the planet?! - Ohh Hansa, my heart goes out to you! - Vita rocked socks in this book!!! - Aida and Field, LORDT! Can you say slow burn jaja

Bella continues to knock it out of the park with her fresh and engaging storylines in the world of paranormals! Every time I think she can’t possibly come up with something new she surprises me! 45 books in and I am just as addicted as I was in the beginning! The hot men in this book just take my breath away and I can’t wait for more romance that is brewing! Intense, romantic and simply the best- that’s Bella!
Don't ever stop writing asov I'm addicted I will never have my fill of it each generation just keeps getting better and better I'm so afraid I'm gonna get to a book that is gonna be the last one please if you value your reader's never stop there are so many places this series can still go and I crave more of every character new and old I still want their stories to continue!!! As always Bella never fails to have you catching Your breath, Yelling and even tears while reading Her books, And then You become so in love with Her books and Somewhere along The line You have jumped into This Awesome Magical World and The Characters become Friends & Family.. Azazel HAS to go!!
I was so sad at the end ....I enjoyed the book with the incubis and vita liking each other how each are liking if not falling in love...Phoenix seems to be the most vulnerable I hope nothing happens to the new daughter ...glad aids is getting her wish finally....get book totally recommend
Read the book in one sitting it was so good with the developing love matches and the oracles having more visions and Serena's test of bravery, patience and truth!! The very end was tragic and I hope things do not continue on that path and the Novak pack can prevent the foretold destruction... I have faith they will prevail, they are Novak's after all
Another amazing job by Bella. 45 books into the main series, and she manages to keep us all enthralled with the Shade. ASoV books always have amazing characters and creatures. I had high expectations for this book, and I was definitely not disappointed.
Read another book. Great as usual. Can't wait get these kids home to their families. It hurt me to think their parents have no kids. Its killing me if this is the book to all questions.
It seems each book in the series tops the previous! I adore Serena. She is easily my favorite character in this season. I am anxious to see what happens next. Will the Oracles' visions become true? Or will they defeat the enemy? Can't wait to find out!
I loved this, it is the best one of the series. I love how all the relationships are developing at different paces. Draven is an idiot sometimes and the connection between the daughter and Phoenix is scary but in a good way. I can't wait for the next book.
Great book Can't wait for the next one to come out Serena n her group is faced with danger . Great love building between her n the druid. Hansa lost everyone and the adventure continues
This is another winner!Bella Forest brings you into a story like no one else. I really tried to slow down my reading until the next one came out. But I couldn't stop turning the pages. Now here I sit waiting and wanting more.
Wow!!! Another fantastic book from Bella, her imagination is out of this world!! I don't know where the ideas come from but they are amazing!! Can't wait to start the next one xxx
This book is by far the most thrilling, exciting but heart breaking yet its had me in tears with the destruction and killing of so many wonderful people .. They better win this war and make him pay for his crimes
I fell in love with Bella the second I started this series. This book was no different, kept you on your feet and loving every minute of it. I have been emotionally invested in this book so I cried, laughed and yelled lol. I cant wait for Azazel to go and to see what happens with the group next.
Action and the unknown have the kids of the Shade on their toes as they continue to learn the oracle powers. Relationships continue to build as allies com together to save 2 worlds.
Evil is rampant...so much sadness. An epic journey filled with uncertainty but there is hope...One day at a time building strength and alliances to defeat the enemy.
Excellent read love the characters and the way they are entwined throughout the storyline. Can't wait for the next book and development of the characters
