When an alien species attacks the Talpa Sector, Teagan leads a fleet of warships across the vastness of space to rush to the aid of its peaceful inhabitants. However, being thrust into the center of an alien war is the least of her worries. A sinister presence from the past attempts to capitalize on the havoc created by the alien invasion to destroy the fragile peace between the Parvac Empire and the Galaxic Expanse. In a deadly game of subterfuge spanning the universes, Teagan and those who are loyal to her may have met their match.
Teagan has survived being poor and abused on Earth, learning her Arachnean heritage, learning her Parvacian heritage, 2 pregnancies with a heart condition and a replacement surgery. She's accepted 2 new husbands, bringing the number up to 5, the lowest acceptable number an imperial princess should have. Her hormones have balanced out and her Omnes Videntes are able to function. And just as she's getting ready to settle in and consider another pregnancy the ships that went to assist the aliens in distress have lost contact. All 6, 1 of them the ship Phillip's parents were on. A rescue mission is quickly put together and off they go, kids and nurses and husbands and suitors, all of them. What they discover is more than thought, and when they get back another revelation comes to light, one that brings both happiness and incredible sadness.
Spoilers ahead. Have tissues ready. This one will bring on the tears, both of joy and sorrow. There's a lot to unpack and anything even hinted at would be huge spoilers. The only 2 things I will say about this one is: *For an empath, they sure aren't concerned about her feelings. *If women are revered, and choice is taken into account, the alcoholic yes should have been a cuddle session instead until her sober yes could be accepted. Oh, I guess 3 things, because I would love to read more about Zeth and Mara, who've kind of disappeared from sight.
This book takes you through all the emotional rollercoasters. The highs of certain discoveries, the lows of loss, the hilarity of misinterpreted communications on matings, a betrayal, the needling of certain annoying people, a new tech, new characters introduced, and a lot, a lot, going on in the background. I've read this series so many times. I love watching Teagan go from a victim trapped behind walls of her own making to a fierce protector of her family and friends. She learns how to drive, how to pilot shuttle craft, to fire weapons, to fight, all while learning about the different aspects of the races she was born from. Thunderdrop is always with her, becoming a fierce warrior himself. Her husbands want to protect her but have learned that they can't stifle her growth by being overprotective. And she teaches the Parvacs a lot on losing certain patriarchal themes. Character growth a central point to this series, nothing stagnates. Oh, if you continue this series, switch to Xavier's and Jazon's stories next, before coming back for book 6. It introduces 2 new characters that feature heavily in 6 and the following books. You can skip them but they're such fun stories why would you want to?
This series keeps getting better and better. The Spider Queen was full of adventure, twists and turns and excitement. Will Farowyn become one of Teagan's husbands? I'm curious to find out, and secretly hoping he will. Anyway, this installment wasn't only about Farowyn; there was a lot going on and a lot still needs to be resolved. I love the realism injected into this installment by showing the difficulty a marriage can have when it's negatively affected by those close to you.
I love Teagan; in this day, when we have so many Rambo-like females in novels, it's good to find a female that has balance. Teagan has a quiet inner strength. Most see her as weak, but she strong and more real than most heroines who have a 'take no prisoners' attitude. I will say it again: I LOVE THIS SERIES. Wendie Nordgren is actually writing a saga that will last for years to come.
All I can say is wow! You made laugh and you made cry and pretty much most of the emotions in between. That is always a sign of a good book. I liked that you had more action and twist in this book that I was not expecting. Once again I see more growth in Teagan as she continues to mature both emotionally and socially. With her background that has to be extremely hard! I look forward to more adventures of Teagan and family!
I loved this book! I think I experienced every emotion I have while reading it (in one day). I can not wait till the 6th comes out. Thank you for the beautiful story Wendie!!!
This book was intense! And again so many things happen in one book it's really fun to watch.. Except when the good guys die. Ugh that scene was so depressing. And spoiler alert but I don't really like Teagans mother. She was rescued and is now returning to a healthy person but she comes across as unlikable in my opinion. I don't like how she orders Teagan around. Looking forward to what's going to happen next!!
The author has me wanting the next book out now. Love how she has grown. The love between the mates are established in a way that you know each and know she loves each in a different way. Please but her with Jazon
This book breaks my heart repeatedly and then gives it back over and over again! I love watching the dynamics between so many races, relationships, and crippling traumas interact. The series just gets better and better!
This book broke my heart. How can a book be a favorite but at the same time break my heart every time I read it. I love this series so much and I would recommend everyone to give it a chance.
Ive been reading thus series and maybe im used to stronger MC but this smacks of abuse and manipulation. She has the tools to be strong yet all too often she is cooerced and manipulated mot for her own well being.
Tegan finds out what price some of her husband's must and do pay for her to be happy. Through a few heart breaks and loss come a new world Tegan must maneuver through to find happiness again. Looking forward to the next book.
There are not enough good words to say about this series. You think you remember the story so well but every time I reread I catch new things. Incredible writing from wendie nordgren.
I mean hello, a lot of changes, so much drama. Gotta say I cried in this book. The death of a loved one and unborn are tragic. I hope her heart heals ♡
The series is definitely picking up -- though I'm not entirely fond of how some things seem to be going. However, I am so looking forward to the next book!
I like the overall continuation of the series but I am not fond of how everything is going. I found this book frustrating. The pace of this book feels choppy and rushed unlike the other books in the series. As always I enjoy Teagan and her group(Yukihyo, Nico, Fitz, Quaid, Zared, Papa, Philip, Princess Neema, Prince Niklos, Eli Beck, and the rest of Teagan's people) as well as the new addition baby Peter. It is frustrating that Teagan is forced into marriage with men she doesn't like. Luca was growing on me, but Drex why? If anyone she should have married Eli Beck, he actually respects her and her wishes. I don’t understand why Drex’s creepy stalker behavior is rewarded, while Fitz who is a good husband as well as father is getting her wrath for his uncles' actions. The most frustrating part for me is the introduction of Teagan's mother, it completely threw the dynamic and not exactly in a positive way. She knows her daughter has been abused and mistreated for years and just had a husband die as well as a miscarriage and is pushing her to have fun and date other men. No one found this callous? All she is seems interested in is getting her to marry other men. You think she would care about her daughter's mental health or want to get to know her? Now she is the mate of Farowyn? I found the scene where Teagan is kidnapped by the Patagee uncomfortable and distasteful. I love the series but I am hoping this book was a one off and it doesn’t continue in this manner, because I normally enjoy Teagan’s adventures.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I really don't like Drex , and I also really don't Like Mother Neema , she is one manipulative woman. I Finally enjoyed reading reading about Teagan and her Husband's and making her own choices , yet with one woman it all comes crumbling down. I actually just like the first time I read this had trouble reading through the parts with Drex and Mother Neema because of they way the act and I will not slow down. Teagan doesn't care for Drex she says not on a emotional level or something , it's sound like a repeat of Fitz , where Zared told her you dont love Fitz like Yukiyo or Nico or but like a friend , 5 pages later and she all of a sudden loved him.
Off to the next one , because I am curious on how the story turns out
I have loved this series since the first book.. Every book is full of adventures & love. You never really expect things that do happen to happen like they do.. This book made me fall in love, laugh, ugly cry, laugh and love all over again.. I just finished rereading the series to get to the newest one I can't wait to discover what happens next.
This instalment ran the gamut of feels and emotions as Teagan continues to go through life accumulating husbands, saving the world and looking after her babies. Looking forward for the next in the series
Loving this storyline but maybe Teagan could suffer a little less in the next book. Luca was just worming his way into my heart and Drex is grossing me out.
