As part of his rule, he keeps the peace between witches and vampires, going on missions domestic and war related. When he embarks on his latest mission to help a fragile species with a resource dispute, he has no idea it could be his most consequential.

Lucretia Stanhope is a relentlessly optimistic crone who refuses to let her growing collection of rare illnesses steal her sparkle. She prefers to think of herself as medically fascinating as opposed to disabled. Seriously, half of these diseases sound less realistic than her most fanciful novels.

Powered by the support of an amazing husband and family, when she isn’t cuddling with her rescue chi-mixes, Thor and Moxie, she spends her days in creative pursuits that range from drawing and painting to crochet and writing.

A great sixth installment in the Elemental Witch Trials series, Tempered Fury boldly lays out another exciting and well-crafted story but this time the focus shifts from Gwen to her son Brac. He's a feisty and promiscuous character - one I enjoyed throughout the course of the book but his journey from start to finish is one that will tug on your heart strings, leave you with pulse pounding moments of anxiety, and bring you further into this brutal, intriguing, and magical world where survival of the fittest is the name of the game. Witches vs. Vampires - but this battle won't be an easy one, especially for Gwen and her family. I'd love to say more about Brac (who is one of my favorites) but I don't want to give away his story!

As always, I'm never disappointed with this author or her flawless writing. She's unique, descriptive, and thinks of monsters and characters that completely blow me away. I'm entirely captivated by this series and will continue to read them all. A MUST OWN addition to your library.

An excellent book in a brilliant series.

The sixth book in the Elemental Withh Trials series sees Brac take over as the central character, with his mother Gwen and other family members in supporting roles. This is quite a natural and smooth progression, and one that I felt was timely in the overall story of the series. It’s interesting and exciting for the reader to see this generational change and to learn how Gwen’s qualities and powers have been passed on in her children and grandchildren.

The evolution of Brac is both fascinating and satisfying, as the reader begins to see beneath his impulsive and superficial exterior to what is really underneath. The development of the next generation is also very interesting, and the reader can only begin to guess what challenges and exploits await these new characters.

The story still has sufficient continuity with the previous books in the series to maintain the flow of the overall series, but this book is also sufficiently detailed in terms of back story so that a reader unfamiliar with the series could still enjoy it and understand enough of the context to fully enjoy the book.

It is an excellent series though, and I have thoroughly enjoyed each instalment so far.

I thought it was a fascinating approach to see Brac step into the role of the main character while Gwen fell aside for the story. It was interesting to really get behind Gwen’s child and see the way that he handles tough situations. I’ve always found him to be a bit impulsive so it was interesting to see the way he reacts with the vampires and how he shifts his entire family’s dynamic with them.

In this sixth installment, the story concentrates on Brac - Gwen’s son, and the time has come for him to finally find his own niche in the world of witches and vampires. As he tries to settle things between two women who don’t like one bit the idea of their world coexisting in the same realm, he learns an old legend, which will soon change his life - and his very nature - forever. But first, he will have to complete a number of quests to prove that he’s the worthy one, and this time there will be no way back, for failing means a certain death.
I really enjoyed watching Brac’s character grow in front of my eyes as he learned valuable lessons of self-discovery and his true nature. His relationship with his sister, mother, wife, and daughter, which also played an important part in his eventual transformation, were described in such a way that I felt like I watched a real family live and interact in front of my eyes, and not book characters, and such realism is always a great accomplishment for any author.
An engrossing plot, naturally-flowing dialogue, fascinating quests and worlds inhabited by the most incredible creatures make this sixth book in the series a true treat. Now I can’t wait to see what book seven brings!

We don't see much of Gwen or Matvei in this book and Sebastian is only mentioned in passing. This book mostly focuses on Brac, Gwen's son. Brac was mostly trained by Matvei, so he's a warrior and he's also be raised as sort of a womanizer because the vampires want his gifts spread among his realm with the other elemental witches.

What we see of Brac in earlier books is somewhat of a tortured soul and an unrepentant womanizer. We see a different side of him in this book. He still has issues keeping things in his pants, but we do see he's capable of loving more than just his family, even if marriages are now arranged in the new witch society.

Brac is trying to fix an issue in another realm when he comes across a mysterious pool of lava that ends up pulling him into a quest. New characters are introduced in this book, included new species on different realms, Brac's children, and new powers are revealed.

I still want to know more about Gwen's mysterious daughter Kyna and Sebastian is still one of my favorite characters, so I hope I get to read more about both of them when I pick up the next book

Mastery of Fire

A dying world. A fiery temper. The heart to save the world even if it means Brac must sacrifice himself. Tempered Fury follows Gwen’s son in his quest to master his own demons while also finding himself in the process. This book takes a different look at the family dynamic as Gwen becomes a peripheral character while her son takes center stage. It will be interesting to see how his newfound confidence will shift the balance they have found with the vampires. Another great story, told masterfully. I look forward to reading Thorns to find out how Brac’s daughter will fare in this epic battle for the witches’ freedom.

In this book Gwen takes backstage as the story unfold around Brac her only son's journey as a reluctant hero to become the fire master. Brac is an arrogant self-deprecating over-confident character with some womanizing issues. He is very different from his mother Gwen whom he worship dearly. But one thing they have in common is their sweet tooth for Cookie's comfort cakes and rolls. Besides Brac, there are also many new characters introduced in this wonderful series. While I'm not in love with the character of Brac, I look forward to seeing how Rose and the others will fare on their own.

This series keeps getting better. This is one of my favorites so far. Brac, the womanizer, has more than squabbling women to deal with. He's on a quest to master fire, and learn so much about himself--if he survives. I really liked learning about the elements and their powers and how they can work together. And poor Gwen. She thinks her life is getting better, when Matviei has more demands of her. So many things happening, with a promise of more excitement to come. Looking forward to seeing what troubles torment the next generations.

I love everything Stanhope writes. This 6th book in the Elemental Witch Trials is no different. Gwen's son, Brac steps up to the batter's plate and brings with him the heat of a thousand ghost peppers. It's oddly refreshing, too.

If you want vampires, witches and lava - there's no better place to go! I can't wait for the next book - the teaser at the end had me hooked already!

In case it wasn't obvious--I loved it!

I love this series, it does have the same 'world' and yet it is forever changing /growing, just like the characters.

This part concentrates more on Brac's life but it does not forget the other important characters nor the politics or running of the realms...so well done.

Can't say too much, however, Brac's quest is brilliant.

How will it all end? Onto part 7.

Highly recommended.

Another amazing sequel. I loved watching Brac grow and change. I learned so much about his character in this book and can't wait to see how his changes affect the balance his mother has worked so hard for. On to the next!
