Deborah Bladon had never read a romance hero she didn't like. Her love for romance novels began when she was old enough to board the bus, library card in hand to check out the newest Harlequin paperbacks. She was a Canadian by heart, and by passport, but you could often spot her in New York City sipping a latte and looking for inspiration for her next story. Manhattan was definitely her second home.
She cherished her family and believed that each day was a gift for writing, for reading, and for loving.
3.5 stars. The hero, Nicholas let this down for me. It took a long while for me to warm up to him. Sophia was a strong heroine and knew what she wanted. She was very guarded when it came to love and trust. Nicholas was very self centred and thought way too much of himself. I enjoyed the chase, but the cliff hanger at the end of book one left me gasping, not in a good way. The second part of the book was like a recovery from mistakes made and I would be a less forgiving person. Not one of my most favourite books from this author.
I didn't like the MMC, Nicholas Wolf at all. I thought he was skeezy. I liked the FMC, Sophia better. She could be quite clever at times. But I just couldn't connect with either character, individually, or as a couple, which to me stems from the writing style or writer's voice.
I did like that there was a bit more chase than the usual romance in the beginning. But I didn't like that Sophia felt she had to sleep with him to keep his interest. I bowed out at 43% when I came to the conclusion that I wasn't going to bother to read their second book. I couldn't seem to care all that much about them in this book either, so...
I tried his brother Sebastian's book next, hoping to give this author another chance. Same thing, I couldn't connect, and somehow, again, the couple development rubbed me the wrong way. Her books, while standalone, seem to have interconnected characters/worlds from other series, but I am not sure if this author is for me. Maybe I will try a different series of hers.
I am not actually rating this book since it is a DNF, but I am forced to put a star rating if I leave book feedback.
Deborah Bladon's got a unique style of writing - she narrates from each mc's POV, but ends up sounding like it's all one person's perspective. Her writing is depersonalized so even though she uses "I" and "you" -- the problem is in that detached way her characters speak, all the exact same way as each other, without giving the reader insights to how he/she feels, thinks, aside from what they say and tell us in the pages of her book. I think she gets better with subsequent books, but it was worse in her Burn, Heat books, and less so in Torn and Risk. I wouldn't be able to tell you why I think this - it's the way it feels to me.
I didn't like how these two, Sophia and Nicholas, were so impersonal, cold, robotic even though their words may have been impassioned, while they sounded so distant and the same. All her characters sound thus - like anyone of the books characters could have delivered the line just spoken. It's why I can't read more than one book at most by her and never a whole series one after themother, since it sounds.so cold. Creepy.
TENSE Part 1 Many characters from the past show up in this book and add to the feeling of familiarity to the character development. However, if you haven't read all of the author's previous works this will not hinder your enjoyment of the story at all. I found Sophia to be very down to earth and easily to relate to. Plenty of heat between Nicholas and Sophia as their relationship builds! I was so blown away at the end! I did not see the cliffhanger coming at all! I have loved every one of Deborah's books and this one does not disappoint!
TENSE Part 2 was beyond my expectations, Terrific conclusion to the story! Deborah Bladon is one of my favourite authors, a MUST BUY! The drama that ended part 1 was realistically and satisfyingly resolved. Nick and Sophia's relationship grew from there, and another drama occurred. Cadence's pregnancy issues made me laugh out loud. The story was perfectly written from beginning to end. It has everything - sex, excitement, good friendships, descriptive NYC locations, and more drama. LOVED IT, and I can hardly wait for Crew's story!
Nicholas and Sophia are some of the best characters that Deborah has written. When I first met Nicholas, I was not a huge fan. I thought he was arrogant, conceited, and chauvinistic Sophia on the other hand was passionate, driven, caring and funny. I honestly did not think these two were going to be a very good match at all. You would think by now I would know to trust Deborah bc she knows what she is doing and that by the end of this book I was going to be completely smitten with both of them especially as a couple. I cannot tell you how many times I teared up or cried just from the pain and the backstory of these two characters. I was so excited to see Lily again and yet also devastated that someone else understood her pain at that level. I definitely recommend this book, but also want to give you a little warning to be prepared to cry because it’s rough emotionally but also amazing definitely worth the tears.
I really enjoy D. Bladon’s books. I’m almost done reading everything she’s published so far, however; I’m getting annoyed by both the extreme fertility of the characters and the frequent failures of birth control. Not everyone wants children as part of their happily ever after. Not everyone is delighted by an unplanned pregnancy. Also, speaking for myself, it’s a good thing that I decided when I was 11 that I didn’t want my own children and never changed my mind because in the end I never would have been able to have children for medical reasons. I have nothing against children. I taught middle school for almost 20 years and am devastated that medical issues are forcing me to retire. I also think that others who either don’t want or can’t have babies are likely to stop reading books with this common theme despite the author’s talent.
TENSE - The Complete two-part Novel Duet (The Wolf's of New York Book )
Sophie finally gets her big break as a fashion designer in New York. Sophie meets Nicholas on a subway , going back to her home. He writes his autobiography I one of his books. She didn't keep the book, she gives it to her boss. She wasn't interested in Nicholas advantage towards her, so she blew him off. Finally from not hearing from her, he calls her boss and brings a copy of his next book to him and he wasn't interested. His wife was a delightful, to hear about Nicholas. As time passes, Nick and Sophia finally get together with each other and she falls in love with him, but does realize that she has. But Nicholas is truly in love with her. As the story goes it was absolutely incredible read, I'm definitely delighted to let you all know this author out did herself in writing this book! ENJOY
Nicholas Wolf and Sophia Reese.....A handsome best seller crime mystery author falls in love with a beautiful up-and-coming talented clothes designer. There’s a lot of sex scenes in this book, some manuscript thieving and kidnapping, and a break-up and make-up in the plot.
This was my first time reading a Deborah Bladon novel. She did not disappoint! I loved her writing and I couldn’t put this book down! I love that she’s Canadian as well! The complete novel duet of Tense was amazing! If you’re looking for an amazing read, then definitely grab a copy of Tense! I can’t wait to read more of Deborah Bladen’s Work!
I really enjoyed this book, it’s got a unique and wonderful storyline- the twists and that unknown factor was perfection. It’s got great main characters, like all Deborah’s books - I love how close the relationships are with friends. Overall a lovely book, full of passion, steamy scenes and love
I am so in love with Deborah’s writing. Once again I read a book and could not stop reading it! Another successful romance by her with the edge of erotica as always. I can’t wait to read Crews story!
Still love how other characters get incorporated into the books. It keeps this wonderful flow for each story, as of we are getting glimpses of someone’s real life.
I loved the way Wolf had to woo Sophia in the beginning! This was a well written love story and I had to keep picking it up to read until I finished it.
This is the second time I read this book. I've read other books by this author and I think she is a good writer. These two books could easily have been one.

I really enjoyed this story. I've read almost all of her books to-date, and she never disappoints. This book had it all - steam, romance, drama, unexpected twists, angsty misunderstandings, and suspence! Really good story, and i absolutely recommend reading both volumes together.
excelente serie, entretenida, me encanta que tenga los dos POV, y además que aparezcan parejas de libros pasados!!!! no puedo esperar a leer sobre Crew!!!!
