This one I really liked because of Colin's belief in Selene and how he makes himself vulnerable to her. Everyone who knew about her powers has always been afraid of her, but he isn't. He trusts that she won't use them to cause damage. Somehow he sees into the heart of her and always believes the best of her.
It's understandable that Selene's past makes her distrustful of covens and Magus Corps. I can also understand that she doesn't want to be just used or wanted for her powers. However, I did find the way that Colin dealt with her past a little dissatisfying. She had to take his word for it that the issue was dealt with. She didn't get the satisfaction of seeing justice done with her own eyes or seeing her nemesis get punished, so it was difficult for her to obtain closure.
She's afraid to accept all he offers because she's experienced too many rejections and betrayals in her life, and she fears if he does the same to her, she won't survive. However, in the end he proves to her that he can be relied on -- even though she had turned him away -- and in one of the great traditions of romance, she finally realises she can take the risk of trusting him to always have her back... and they live happily ever after. (Literally, because unprotected sex with warlock will make a witch immortal! Convenient, eh? LOL)
Oh, and I absolutely LOVED Bitsy the ferret!!!

Colin and Selene
This story started off slow with Colin trying to get to know Selene and convince her to come back to the Corp or a coven. She was a witch who could erase memories or freeze people for a while. Selene was a character I wasn't thrilled with. She was willing to use people to get what she wanted. She had a caring side to her but she didn't want to show it to anyone. Colin gave her chance after chance to come with him but she denied him every time.
The last chapters finally got some action with the Templars, then she realized that she cared for Colin and needed him.
Not bad, but definitely not my favorite.

This installment of the series kept me turning pages, but I didn't care as much for the leading couple this time around. There was too much of a cat and mouse game going on, (it was entertaining for a little while, but then dragged on) and Colin just rubbed me the wrong way. He was always expecting the worst of Selene, and his lack of faith in her even after she proved herself to be anything but a mind-wiping, malicious rogue irritated me to no end!

Good Read
I enjoyed the book. The story is fast paced and there is lots of action and adventure as these two try to figure out if there is a future for them.
I really liked the characters. They both are good people trying to do the right thing. There is excellent chemistry between them and a real bond.

I don't feel like I'm getting to know this world any better. I like the people, but I want there to be connections between all the people I have met in the first 4 books.

So now the Corps are forcing witches to join them or execute them!!!! This plot had nowhere to go and the characters were not endearing enough to save this book. Only finished it to see if it got any better. Waste of money and time.

Paranormal novella. I'm starting to see a sameness with the previous stories. I liked the H/h, but this was way too short to be satisfying. The resolution is in the last few pages & is rushed.

Excellent story! I really liked Selene. She's a strong girl, and has reservations about using her powerful gift. I liked Colin too, for his perseverance.
What I did not like, however, was Colin's ultimatum of "join or die", and the fact that he was too cocky about her decision, and knew she would change her mind.
I really enjoyed the quick travel of Colin's power, and how they got to know each other before jumping into bed.
All in all, I'd say this book is the best in the series so far. I loved it, and really recommend reading it. It's even a standalone novel, just like the rest of the books in the series!
