I really enjoyed this series of books: BLACK - This is by far one of the best books I have read in a long time, its amazing; well written. Its quite an original style, its a bit controversial and I was gripped after the first few pages, I really did not want to put this book down. I almost don't want to say anything for fear of spoiling the read for you; but what I will say is it is written in a sensitive way, and it pushes the personal boundaries of the main characters, it takes a dive into family secrets and how your sins of the past will find you out; and the battle it causes for those left in the wake; and it was not predictable. VIOLET - This book was well written and totally captivating; my tip would be to read it on a weekend, so you don’t have to put it down. This book is about self-belief, as shown through Violet’s determination to use her gift to communicate with the living dead to help find missing children; a job which although emotionally draining is an occupation which she takes seriously. Violet’s belief in her abilities has alienated her from her family who do not believe in her gift and think she is ill; having repeatedly tried to cure her, by placing her repeatedly before doctors, their relationship is severely strained; this resulted in Violet isolating herself. Apart from a few close friends she has made, who are very protective of her. Life for Violet is challenging; it becomes even more demanding when a job she is on links in with an old crush Jake, who is the best friend of her brother; whilst Violet would love nothing more than a relationship with Jake, he is clearly on the disbelieving side of her life; which doesn’t bode well. GREEN - A well written and an engaging story. It has a different tone than the previous books but it links well with these two books. In my opinion it is particularly closely aligned to Violet; and was fascinating to read parts of the book, similar to parts in Violet but from a different perspective. If I could only use one word to describe this book it would be "Electric" which is down to the Authors portrayal of the conflicts in the relationship between Christian and Melody. I think it would be suitable for most people who like romance books, there is some intimacy within the story, but it's not a central feature. BLUE - It is well written and an engaging story. Although the books in the Colours series, link to a degree through the characters popping up throughout the series, all of the books are written very differently, the stories of the main characters in the fore front of each book are well written and focus on different issues to those in the other books in the series. In my opinion, this book is out there on its own. It deals with the emotional connection of twins; and how relationships can be shaped and destroyed by external factors. The book has emotional depth, and deals with the tragic consequences on death, grief and recovery. The Author has crammed a lot of issues into this book, and despite it being a romance about Logan and Faith, that is not the central theme; whilst this book deals with some complex social and emotional situations, the author has managed to include some very humorous parts. YELLOW - Is well written and an engaging story. I really enjoyed this book, it was a great end of series, pulling together strands from previous books, whilst focusing on the story of the principle characters in this book; Chloe and Adam. This book explores the sensitivity and personal development of Chloe, which is excellently brought to the forefront from the previous book. I don't think this book would cause offence to anyone; I would not hesitate to recommend it. My only disappointment is that the series ended without a full book on Darren, I would have liked to see the full extent of this characters life, which I have been entertained by in snippets throughout this series
I've read and reviewed each of these books individually. I'm combining all of my reviews in one place. This is a great opportunity to get all five books at a great price!
Black: Elin Peer has done it again. I absolutely love her books. Her characters are real and the story grabs you and pulls you in right away. Read any of her books...you won't be disappointed.
Violet: I've read Elin Peer's slave series books and fell in love with her as an author. When I found out she had another series - Clashing Colors, I couldn't wait to start reading those. Violet is the second in that series. I started it this morning and just finished it. I have NOT been disappointed and cannot wait to start the next one! I love her characters hate to finish reading her stories because I end up feeling like I'm missing my good friends!
Green: This is the third book in the Clashing Colors series. It is a stand alone book, but reading the first two prior to reading this one is recommended. That being said...this is my favorite so far. I seem to think that after reading each one, but I just love the back and forth between these two characters. I found myself laughing out loud and even stopping to read some exchanges to my sister who would also laugh out loud. I always enjoy a strong female character and this book has that, but she is vulnerable at the same time. It helps to make the character believable. Elin Peer is a great writer and I highly recommend reading all of her books. She does not disappoint.
Blue: This is a stand alone book (although it doesn't hurt to read the series in order) with a happily ever after. Elin Peer is definitely a writer that I love. I consider myself very fortunate that I stumbled upon her books. So far she has not written a book that I haven't liked. This one is no different. When you read her books you never feel cheated or that something has been left out. She gives you a complete story. She has fully developed characters that you can relate to or sympathize with in every way. They are believable as real people. I find that whenever I finish a book written by her that I feel bereft because I miss the people. That, to me, is a sign of a great writer. I highly recommend reading all of her books. You won't be sorry.
Yellow: This is the final book in the Clashing Colors series and does not disappoint. It is a stand alone with its own happily ever after, however there are cross-over characters and would be best if you read the series in order. Don't worry. Each book is different and is not a "cookie cutter" type of story where just the names of the characters change. And speaking of characters, Elin Peer has a knack for creating ones that you can relate to and that are believable. Not every author can do that. I feel very fortunate that I stumbled across her Slave Series because I discovered a GREAT new author. I have thoroughly enjoyed every book that I have read by her (which is all of them!) and I anxiously await the next series.
EP is a really good author and she has the ability to get the reader vested in the themes of her books - I loved the Cultivated Series. The storylines are unique with each novel. They are not your typical wrong side of the tracks vs the silver spoon romance but truly taboo topics that people don’t talk about or associated oneself with to the general masses. I read a lot of comments before reading this series through KU and people that aren’t unable to think outside the box on taboo subjects and very stringent with personal opinions these books probably will not appeal to you. I however was fascinated by the differences and beliefs of the main characters and purchased the series. I enjoyed all of the books but I think Violet was my favorite...science vs the paranormal or the unknown was fascinating and the discussion of each side made me want to discover more since I kinda lean towards the one side due to my faith but reading Violet story had me wondering in the possibility. If you are a person that see things only as black or white...YOU MAY BE DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS SERIES but if you have the ability to BE OPENED TO A DIFFERENT VIEW POINT THIS SERIES IS FOR YOU!
This series is INCREDABLE! Each book is a coming together of different cultural backgrounds from a homeless addict to a Hollywood superstar! They all have one thing in common, finding that one person they connect with! These books have more than enough Laughs, Cheers, and Tears to satisfy the most demanding Romance reader! From Black finding worth in her street art and being rescued by her Soldier Step-Uncle, to Violet the mystic ghost whisperer and her attraction to a scientist, to her brother Christin Steakhouse owner's attraction to Melody a vegan and organic food store owner, to Faith a Cheerleader and Escort service call taker and psycology major's attraction to a badly scared introvert Scottish programmer, to Cleo / Chloe Hollywood superstar and her love hate relationship with an Indian Medicine Man helping her reconnect with her self! Five stories Elin Peer has Brilliantly Crafted for your Pleasure!
First off, sorry I don't know if you're allowed to cuss on here but I'm super excited for this box set! Second, Elin Peer is hands down one of my favorite authors! I've personally read every book in this series and each one takes you on a different, amazing journey. Every character is relatable and I fell in love with every one of them. The Clashing Colors series is a lot different than her first Accidental series. When Elin wrote these books she brought her A game and did phenomenal. These books are the ones that you just remember. They don't fade into all the other books you've ever read. Her series stands out and claims your attention. This series will always have a special place in my heart and kindle.
Elin Peer has totally outdone herself on this series. It is one of my all time favorites. With this box set all of the books are great! Some you purchase may have one or two books in it that you will like but not this one. Elin is a fabulous author and it shows in all of her books. I strongly recommend this series to everyone. It will make you laugh, cry, laugh again, keep you on the edge of your seat, laugh some more and make you think. I am leaving this review because I want to and am in no way being coerced. Happy Reading!
Deeper than you think - May have triggers for some readers
I have read many books, but none have made me think and feel the way Elin's books have. Each book is individual as well as linked (if that makes sense?) I found I had connection to each book/character, whether it's been their interactions, history or the beauty of the details Elin adds to draw you in, their story and the feelings they provoke have been intense, uncomfortable, emotional and insightful but always with a HEA
OMG!!! I say the same thing all the time. I love Elin Peer, she is brilliant and can write a story that keeps you captivated from beginning to end from book to book, I laughed out loud, I got angry, I cried, I felt every emotion imaginable and loved every story and read all 5 books and was so sad there were no more colors to read. Hats off to Elin and her fantastic imagination. I couldn't stop turning the pages from beginning to end and late nights of reading this series. I highly recommend this and all of her series!!!!
This is one of the best book sets you will find. Each can be read on it's on merit, but if you follow it from the beginning you will have the back story of where things started and watch as opposites fight their attraction for each other. Truly a heartwarming series where Elin Peer has taken parts of reality and mixed in fantasy/ fiction to weave into a spellbound read.
These relatable characters and their passionate stories had turning the pages non stop. Each book made me fall in love with the and root for their happy ending while laughing at their ups and downs. This author has a way of making you relate to the characters and feel for them.
I don’t want to damn with faint praise but these were nice stories. Elin Peer was a new author for me and it took a while to gel with her style, but by the end of Black I was sucked in and finished the box set. I felt green had too much of an overlap with the first two stories but I persevered and enjoyed the fresher last two tales. Give them a try!
Love a good box set that are all different stories but with the same character through out each book. They can all be read as standalone but definitely better if read in order. I hope that some of the characters get their own book. There is some funny banter between these friends with lots of love, laughter and angst. Absolutely worth 5 stars
Poverty, abuse, neglect, abandonment, homelessness all described Blacks childhood. Not as she reached adulthood you can add drug addiction thief and headed to jail. That's when date steps in and turns her life around.
Excellent series. 5 books that link by characters but could be stand alone. Much better in full series. Each book has strong relationships that have overcome large obsticals to find their happy ever after. Enjoyable reads.
Thanks,Elin, for this Series! Now there needs to be a story about Liam and Darren... Clashing Colors is a well written, well developed love story with just the right amount of sex.
I had some minor quibbles with narrative choice but not enough to detract from the story. The ebook could use reviewing by a copy editors especially the last book but I've seen more egregious errors.
Elin Peer has to be my favorite author of Romance genre. Her series are thoughtful, insightful and present relatable stories. I absolutely love how she can create a window into the psyche and soul. I highly recommend this series.
Loved this series. Each character has been well developed. This is a fun series, that encompasses how relationships develop and grow. It highlights family, friendship, love and life.
Wow! Enjoyed every book and characters in the series. Such fresh and interesting stories to unfold. Definitely a fan and follower going forward, well done and thank you again for entertaining my mind ;)
This is contemporary new age adult romance book that is slightly dark and just twisted enough to keep you going. The series follows the lives of 5 different women whom lives are intertwined through friendship and relationships. These women are women you know and I personally can tell you that you are guaranteed to find yourself inside one of these books. You’re also bound to find yourself a new book boyfriend or 5. While each female stands out on her own the male leads also give you 5 perspectives on men who are finding away to keep themselves grounded while falling hopelessly in love with their counter partner. This series is amazing. This author brings us stories of 5 woman. Their lives and loves are intertwined but their personalities are eerily different and that's what makes them special and their friendships lasting. Each book is a standalone but each one an emotional read. This author doesn't write like anyone out there. Her books don't stop at just giving you a story, they are deep and real and imposing and strong just like her women. Each is unique in their own way and touch you in the way a book is supposed to. You will connect with one of these ladies in a special way. The men that love them make it all the more special and you will end up loving them too. This is an amazing set that is worth every penny.
