Oh Radmir, how I love this man, to be honest I’ve loved every one of the characters in the series, no matter how damaged they are. The injustice Radmir suffered was heart breaking, and who would have thought injustice and a mafia man would be in the same sentence!
After getting glimpses of Radmir in previous books, I really needed his story, and that is something this author does impeccably well, she gives you just enough of a taste to get you hooked, and yes now I need Yuri’s story! She has a fantastic ability to give depth and realism to her characters, and make you fall in love with them regardless of their circumstances.
This book was addictive from the first to the last word; I did not want to put it down. Radmir, as you’d expect from the Russian Mafia Sovietnik was a true alpha male; possessive, protective, loyal and dominant are just a few words that describe his character, oh and of course sinfully hot. Vivian was beautiful, inside and out, she made choices that some people may question as potentially weak, but for me, they were acts of complete selflessness and done only to protect those she loved.
This book had me feeling a range of emotions, I laughed and cried and got angry and frustrated. The suspense that the author built surrounding ‘the Director’ was fantastic, I’ll admit I did manage to deduce who it was from about 60%, but that didn’t take away from the story and if I’m honest it added to the suspense as I knew who it was but they didn’t, argh.
A dark romance, with a HEA, this is not your hearts and flowers fairy-tale, but it was Radmir and Vivian’s fairy-tale none-the-less. I love how the epilogue’s in this series are all set 20 plus years in the future, I love knowing how things pan out for the characters, and am hopeful that this author will give me not only more stories from the adult characters we have met and grown fond of, but also stories from the next generation, fingers crossed that’s the reason for her 20 year plus epilogues.
