It’s not Halloween but horror is hitting The Bounding Storm … and Rowan Gray couldn’t be more excited.
That’s right, the Indie Horror Movies are being held on the ship and that means the entire guest list is made up of members of the B-movie industry. As a horror buff, Rowan is having trouble containing her enthusiasm. She can’t wait to meet some of her favorites, although the experience might not be all she dreamed about.
From a security perspective, the awards don’t offer up much trouble for Quinn Davenport – other than the expensive camera serving as the grand prize. He’s more interested in keeping Rowan out of trouble than anything else.
When Rowan’s special gift rears its ugly head and one of the biggest actresses falls under a death omen, Quinn and Rowan find themselves in the unenviable position of watching her without tipping their hands. When she goes missing, they expect the worst … and that’s long before death officially comes calling.
Rowan may love horror movies but she doesn’t enjoy fiction intruding on real life. Something big is going on – and it seems all the guests have a secret. Rowan needs to sort through the lies, discover the truth, and find a way to save the day.
That’s if she herself survives, of course, which is no guarantee on a ship full of potential killers.
A storm is coming, and a killer is in their midst. It’s anybody’s guess who will make it to the final credits.
Rowan is excited when a horror convention is coming on the ship. But her excitement starts to dwindle when she realizes that the people aren't what she thought they would be. Then you add in a guest who is missing, and Rowan's omen on the some pictures, and things aren't looking great.
Rowan and Quinn must figure out what is going on before it is too late.
This book was a bit frustrating to me. I liked it, but I felt like it was almost a repeat of the previous book. And it was beyond annoying the issues Quinn kept having with women. I could understand that happened in the previous book because it was full of women, but this was ridiculous and very annoying.
Other than that I liked it, but I was hoping that Rowan would develop more with her "gift" she has. I hope more will come of that in the next book.
This book has more plot holes than the rural state roads and this is what those roads look like
I could go into detail and list all the annoying inconsistencies that ruined this for me, but I am too lazy and it is not worth it. Let's just say that if you have bought/borrowed the bundle of first 3 books (I had audio) and have the bright idea to read/listen to them all in a row - DON'T. All these holes and inconsistencies might be less noticeable if you read them one by one and after some looooong time periods, but if you read them all one after another or in a short time period, then in the first chapter of each book you will notice something that does not fit what was mentioned before. In case of this third book, the first chapter is already about something that was resolved in a conversation in the last chapter of previous book. Really? Couldn't have reread the last chapter from previous book before writing the next book? Really? And considering that this "issue" that they discussed and resolved in the end chapter of book two is kind of the main sub-theme of book 3, it is frankly ridiculous. The book is full of inconsistencies, repetitions and plain contradictions. Which is utterly aggravating, because you can let slide one thing or two, but to miss this many? Seriously?
This is an entertaining paranormal cozy mystery series. A fun cast of characters and an entertaining storyline. Rowen Gray is a professional photographer who used to work for a Detroit newspaper as a photo journalist. After the newspaper started downsizing and got rid of other photographers she went out looking for a new job and got a job on a cruise ship. Rowen has a unique ability when taking pictures. In her photos if someone is destined to die there is a mark on the photo that she can see. If she pointed this out to others they can see it as well but she does not really tell anyone. She has told her boyfriend who happens to be the chief of security on the cruise line and together they try and save people from dying on the cruise ship. Read on and follow the adventure this time as the cruise is filled with B-movie Hollywood whorror directors actors and actresses gearing up for an awards show at the end of the cruise. What’s going to happen who’s marked for death and can they save them. Read on and find out.
I really enjoyed the third installment of the Rowan Gray series. I enjoyed the mystery, motive, and the reveal.
I cannot give it more than 3* due to a small plot hole. In a previous book Rowan mentioned her love of horror movies and even stated her favorite, as did Quinn. Yet Quinn acted acted as if this was new information and the favorite movies changed.
This is only the third book in the series... So that conversation wasn't that long ago. This bugs me and ruins the story a bit for me.
An author should know their own stories and not change previous points in later books.
This series just keeps getting better! Like the author, I too am a true romantic & love a happy ending. In this series you get suspense, murder, romance, & a little dash of magic, & definitely a happy ending!
For this cruise the ship is host to the Indie Horror Awards. Included are B-list actresses, directors, & crew. Rowan is very into horror flicks & is extremely excited until the death symbol shows up on one of her photos. As Rowen & head of ship's security BF Quinn try to keep the target safe, they have to contend with bizarre passengers, & then also feeling pressured by the crew who keep pressuring them to take their relationship to the next level.
This is a great book with all sorts of interesting characters, a unique setting, & a twisting & turning plot. Can't wait for Rowen's & Quinn's next sailing.
I love everything about this series, this installment is no exception. I enjoy the strong characters, their interactions and development. I was surprised by the villain, it'll keep you guessing. I loved the ending of this book . I love everything about this series, this installment is no exception. I enjoy the strong characters( Sally, Demarcus, and the captain included), their interactions and development. I was surprised by the villain, it'll keep you guessing. I loved the ending of this book. I just love Rowan and Quinn and their progressing romance. I wonder if the FBI agent will make another appearance in the future. The series is unique and well worth the read.
When she hears that the next cruise is going to be horror B movies, she's thrilled. She absolutely loves them and has been a fan for years. However the Queen B of the horror movie scene everything she hates. But when she spots the symbol on her photograph, she and her hunk do their best to protect her. However he has different problems to add to his headache. One of the cameramen is hitting on his girl! Murder, blackmail, drugs and a whole cruise of egotistical guests make this a cruise to remember. Will they be able to find all the answers? Will they get even closer? When will Demarcus and Sally twig that they make the perfect couple?
I like this series and it has a setting that is totally different from other books. Rowen and Quinn usually make for a very cute couple, but this time they seemed whiny and complained a lot, but it could be the authors intent to show the sexual tension. Unfortunately, it fell to aggravating at times. Since I read this author a lot, I know this can happen from time to time. It still is an enjoyable read and I would recommend it to others. I look forward to Quinn and Rowan's next adventure on the high seas or maybe visiting some of Quinn's land loving friends.
When the Indie Horror Movie Awards come to the Bounding Storm, it's going to become a hair raising trip.
Rowan see's the omen on the favourite to win the female lead category; Callisto is as unlikeable as they get and while Rowan and Quinn are prepared to try and protect her they don't much like her.
Callisto vanishes from her room and the hunt is on for a body; dead or alive.. yes, alive because for Quinn and Rowan something about the whole thing seems wrong.
With plenty of suspects, not all who are what they seem, it's not going to be easy to dig out the truth and at least one other person is definitely not making the return trip alive.
Stormy Seas was another brilliantly written Rowen Gray Mystery. Rowan and Quinn are loving life, loving each other and Rowan is especially happy about the upcoming horror movie awards cruise they are embarking on, living and working on a cruise ship is never boring and this trip with a ship full of horror movie people is bound to be extra entertaining.
I love Rowan and Quinn they really make a great team, they are both sweethearts, the compliment each other beautifully even when they argue...lol
This is such a fun series! I just adore Rowan and Quinn and like them even more with each installment. This premise of this story was great, and I was really intrigued by the mystery. The cruise ship is a great setting and these different themed cruises keep things interesting and feeling fresh. The characters are always entertaining, and I enjoyed the twist with one of them. The supporting characters never disappoint here. I also really like the pacing of Rowan and Quinn's relationship and that they do what works for them. So excited for more!
Ok..so I really liked the first book and second one....loved the banter between all the friends. But now it just seems like it’s compliment after compliment...and there is only little of Sally and Demarcus. I was kinda disappointed in this book. Didn’t hate it but really wasn’t feeling what the first book had in it...that being said I will read the others in the series...I hope it just gets back to the funny and laughing in it. This series has so much potential I hope it’s not ruined!!! Happy Reading :)
Book 3 humor, angst, the death omen, danger, mystery, murder, and a bunch of scary movie makers. Actors, producers, writers, directors, special effects people, and videographers have amassed on the cruise ship for an awards event celebrating slasher/horror movies. Rowan is excited because those are her favorite movies. Quinn...not so much. But will her illusions be shattered? Highly entertaining.
It's definitely a cozy type mystery but this time the author does manage some real suspense; there was a short period at the last where I was holding my breath. It also was definitely a bit hard to figure out exactly what was going on and what would happen next. I did not i.d. the killer and I liked that.
I know this is only book three but the story lines are too boring, long winded conversations, and even the boy, girl situation is severely slow. I have enjoyed other lhh series alot. They are good from the first book, I get through three or four before reading something else in-between. However, this series is a defo no, won't be reading anymore. The rest brill.
A ship full of low budget actors with huge egos no wonder there's a murder. Rowan is looking forward to a cruise for the horror film awards until she meets the actors, then the most obnoxious disappears after Rowan sees the death mark on her picture. A great fun mystery with excellent characters, a good storyline and some nice twists and turns. Narration is excellent.
Rowan and Quinn are back! This time on a cruise filled with horror movie people. Rowan finds out that this cruise is nothing like she imaged. Missing actresses and murder ruin the trip. Its a pretty fun light read
I love this series and I love everything this author writes. The story is always interesting, the characters are well written and the mystery always complex enough that it's never easy to figure out the villain.
This series is just so fun. With every book the characters become more funny, and lovable. Each book is getting better, and that says a lot. Rowan and Quinn once again find themselves in the midst of chaos and mystery, more twists and turns that leave the reader guessing. Next book please.
This is an amazing read.. It is well written with a dynamite plot that is full of intrigue, a shocking murder, a missing actress, and a budding romance between Rowan and Quinn. This is definitely deserving of a 5-star Plus rating.
I was a little worried that this book was sounding an awful lot like one of the others. I realize there are only so many ways for someone to disappear on a cruise ship. Lol It is still a good read and I will start the next one now. Enjoy
Quinn and Rowan become enthralled in an unexpected murder with an unexpected twist. I enjoyed reading this book. It's well worth spending a couple of hours reading it.
Ahhh! Alex Masters is my new favorite LHH supporting character. He was so great. I hope he appears at some point again. Another wonderful cozy with a fun setting: there's a horror-filmmaker movie cruise going on and Rowan tries to stop another victim from a death photo.
I breezed thought this book in a weekend. Not much of a horror fan myself but it was a entertaining read. However I think I will take a break from the rest for.a while. They are entertaining but I am looking for something else.
A group of indie horror movie people are on a cruise for their award dinner. One actress has the omen on her photo, so Rowan and Quinn try to keep her safe.
I continue to enjoy the series for entertainment. I know there are plot holes but I don't read them one after another so doesn't bother me. I read for the enjoyment of reading and thanks the gods that someone writes books that meet that criteria.
