Welcome to Spellbound, where paranormal is the new normal.
Witch-in-training Emma Hart is preparing for one of the worst days of her life...the marriage of fallen angel Daniel Starr to the spoiled fairy, Elsa Knightsbridge. Fortunately for Emma, distractions are easy to come by in Spellbound when a troll is found dead near a bridge and an overzealous werewolf is arrested for indecent exposure. Will these incidents be enough to keep Emma from falling apart? Or will one of these situations be her undoing?

Wieder eine klasse Folge🥰 Diese Reihe macht einfach Spaß und lässt richtig den Alltag ausblenden😁 Außerdem finde ich Hörbücher um die 6 Stunden echt entspannt😃
. In this humorous and cozy mystery series, the reader is swept away into exploration and adventure, in a magical town called Spellbound. Here you find a multitude of paranormal people and creatures cohabitating in one realm. Emma, heroine, is a witch of sorts and the town sleuth.
Emma frets in turmoil over the upcoming marriage of the man of her dreams, Daniel, to someone else. Something seems kind of hinky about the whole thing. After Emma's emotional display via an unknown magic, to prevent the love of her life from marrying someone else, because of an obsession spell, the paranormal people she had grown to love and respect turned on her and wanted to lock her up. Besides that drama, there is the mystery of a recent dead citizen to solve. Emma has her plate full in this book.
Each book in the series adds new characters, some interesting and others not so much. All seem to get along with Emma.
What will happen next? You will just never know unless you crack open the book and start reading.
This book can stand on its own, it was a clean presentation, a romantical disaster was avoided, and a mystery was solved -- ALL GOOD THINGS !!
Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...
1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.
2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.
3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.
4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.
5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.
The upbeat, funny, charming and only slightly mysterious cozy read I was looking forward to.
Includes the standard elements of cultural appropriation such as voodoo dolls, spirit animals, dream catchers etc used as magical tools so to speak in a largely European set magical world.
I adore reading all about the town of Spellbound and it's very diverse inhabitants. Ms. Chase evokes various feelings, but mostly love and friendship, things that were in short supply in our heroine's life as a plain, old human. This series gives me chuckles and makes me feel warm inside. The characters come alive the more you read about them. This is paranormal romance at its best. This is a great series to read when you need a little pick-me-up or light reading. These stories will draw you in and keep you wanting more. I highly recommend them.
Too much buildup, not enough payoff! After dragging out the whole "Daniel is going to marry his ex" saga, it ended with the emphasis being on Emma's having been outed as a Sorceress and very little insight into how aware Daniel might have been to what was going on. I was really disappointed in this one.

Today I decided to head back to Spellbound, where Emma new world is filled with paranormal's and she a newbie witch.
Throughout this entire book Emma is in a constant state of melancholy. The day is fast approaching when her beloved Daniel will pledge himself to the spoiled and beautiful Elsa Knightsbridge. And Emma is still doing everything she can to prove that Elsa has be spelled Daniel.
Unfortunately, during the process of proving Elsa guilt, Emma gets a new client. A werewolf that was arrested for exposing himself when he shifts to speak to the enchanting singing woman. Not to mention while on a secret mission to find the potion Elsa is using on Daniel, she trips over a dead troll near the bridge.
Will Emma be able to find the trolls killer before anyone else dies? Will Emma find s way to stop Daniel and Else's wedding commitment binding themselves together for eternity?
Better Than Hex is the fiftj book in the Spellbound series. It's a full length novel that has light drama, humorous moments, lots of magical paranormals, and a bit of love.
Books in the series include: Curse the Day, Book 1 Doom and Broom, Book 2 Spell's Bells, Book 3 Lucky Charm, Book 4 Better Than Hex, Book 5 Cast Away, Book 6
Next in the Spellbound series: A Touch of Magic, Book 7
I’ll keep reading this series, but this one was too instalove for me. I felt like, ok she has a crush and then when she’s invisible she’s blowing kisses at him saying she loves him like what???
She also gaslit tf out of her clients plaintiff in this book. Totally victim blamed her like wtf not a girls girl today are you Emma?? He was a werewolf and shifted in her yard while peeing, no one cares that she was a siren and he was drawn to her voice blah blah blah. He peed on her yard, trampled her flowers, AND shifted into a naked human body. He needs to be PUNISHED idc if ur the public defender or not
Emma is unhappily preparing herself for the wedding of Elsa and Daniel, she has a case of public indecency to defend, and she found a dead troll. Things are never dull in Spellbound. After finding the potion, Emma decides to give the mayor a chance to clear things up without causing Elsa problems, unfortunately the mayor doesn’t keep her promises. This leads Emma to do some more investigating in both the wedding problem and the murder. Again, there are a multitude of characters, both those on Emma’s side and those she is checking out. This was a good mystery and I actually had no idea of the culprit. This is a fairly short, quick, fun read full of magic and humour.
Emma Hart is devastated that the angel she loves is marrying a spoiled snobby fairy and is determined to reveal the obsession spell placed on him in this story. This is the romance side of the story, which in this reader's opinion, was a bit nauseating. Emma's declarations made me turn green, but I'm not a romance gal. What I did like about Cast Away was the story regarding how the many different groups are tired of the rules and restrictions that favor only one class of supernatural beings and their collaboration to stop the discrimination. Emma had a role in this as a town lawyer and supported an end to the prejudices. Not a bad story, and I do enjoy the supernatural. I'd recommend Cast Away to readers that enjoy light cozy mysteries with a bit of romance.
Quick Info Standalone/Cliffhanger?: Standalone Part of a Series?: Yes ---------------------------------- Meeting the Characters Emma Hart Buck Testani Walter Rivers ---------------------------------- What happens? The discovery of a frozen troll body sets Emma's already shot nerves really into overdrive. She is also determined to stop the wedding between Elsa and Daniel but doesn't know where to start with that and after a few last ditch efforts decides to accept her fate of unrequited love. Final thoughts This is an OK read. The outing of Emma at the end is an interesting twist.I just got bored of the Daniel train and although I think they're cute it seems a bit too convenient the mayor is fine with her daughter being a douche canoe. I saw it coming that she wasn't going to do anything. Would I read again?: Yes Would I read this author again?: Yes
Emma is trying to find a way to prove that Daniel is under a spell, when she runs across the dead body of a troll. Of course she wants to help solve that mystery, but between Daniel’s imminent wedding, and the secret she has been keeping about herself, she has a lot to deal with…
Things are heating up in Spellbound, and it’s keeping Emma mighty busy! Fortunately for her, she has made a number of friends, and that’s something she definitely needs.
This isn’t a standalone story by any means. Yes, the mystery is standalone, but the ongoing background plot is a bigger part of this story, and carries over from former books in the series. All in all, an entertaining read for paranormal cosy mystery lovers.
I noticed that there were some errors in this book, but it is still a delightful read. Emma and her friends are on a mission to save Daniel from Elsa-they make Emma invisible once again and she finds that Elsa has spelled Daniel with an Obsession Potion. Seems that all fairies can't change their wings overnight! Emma finds herself defending a werewolf who has an issue with urinating in public-more like urinating on Alice (Gaerth's ex-fiancee)'s lawn. While trying to help Daniel, will Emma's secret be revealed? Is it really that bad of a secret? Read and find out.
A very entertaining supernatural cozy mystery series. Great cast of characters in a small spellbound Pennsylvania town in the middle of the forest or supernaturals live and cannot leave. The town was cursed mini years ago and all the supernaturals live their lives in spellbound it in the surrounding areas. Fall the characters in every book as they solve a mystery enjoy the hijinks and fun in every book. You will not be disappointed. Several Siri’s are written in this magical world that include spellbound and other towns that are super natural-based.
Absolutely wonderful! My favorite so far of the series has been this one. No, I did not like Elsa and her devious behavior or her mother’s help in it to get Daniel. Mayor of Spellbound or not, Knightsbridge was wrong in letting her daughter get away with her deceitfulness with the Obsession potion. The remedial class of witches were my favorites! I love how they all came together to help Emma. For better or worse, they believed in and helped each other. That made it really special. I felt sorry for Daniel being under a spell by that horrid Elsa. But more than that, my heart went out to Emma who so loved Daniel enough to know that something was just not right about how he was acting. Emma, the sorceress, finally had enough at the wedding ceremony and accidentally let her true self “zap!” Then, yikes!! It was quite amusing when Agnes showed up at Raisa’s house dressed in just her gown with her butt hanging out the back. Agnes has been a real entertaining character in the series. Now, Emma and Daniel can hopefully begin their journey together. I do hope Lucy gets the opportunity to serve as more than temporary mayor. The arresting of the mayor brought a smile to my face even if she thinks she’ll never thinks serve a day in prison.
Good story lines earns two stars but., SPOILER ALERT
The idiotic way you're written Emma in this book made it almost impossible to read. Just got worse as story progressed! Emma was a Public Defender n Human world. Trapped in Spellbound she is also, how ever she becomes an investigator yo the exclusion of Herr job. . Breaking her Atty. Client privilege. Lying to clients and witnesses. She decided with out evidence who is telling the truth ( from past clients she's not that good at it) doesn't share with Prosc. findings, well, all of it is so fat from her job its laughable. She goes to a therapist that has a drinking issue and believers trumping sadness is tx. ( ones experience sets pain threshold. To say mine is worse is to say I'm More important. She decided Daniel and she are soul mates after setting friend boundaries, and holds a kiss as proof. Same kiss he qualifies right after as not romantic. Clearly Emma changed seeing Else with him. She is incredibly passive aggressive, you lost sight of these characters. Emma he's become Bono. So many problems. its difficult to read and not get discussed or amused. Atty. Peerless investigator, perfect friend, soulmate, confidant and now... saviour of Spellbound.! Price is right. ( get a consultant)
I received a recommendation to this series through a newsletter from this author. Having read plenty of her books (and one of the BEST series out there being her “Crossroads Queen” Series, which is a MUST read), I decided to give this one a try even though I am not into “cozy” stories as they tend to be too bland for my taste in books. I was pleasantly surprised by this series. The FMC Emma is a remarkable character. She is determined, smart, strong, funny and sarcastic. Emma finds herself trapped in a magical town and discovers she is witch. From then on, we see her trying to adapt to her new reality, and even though she is assigned as a defense lawyer, her true calling is solving the mysteries behind the crimes that are happening around the town, while fumbling her way to becoming a competent witch. There are a few potential love interests along the way and very colorful secondary characters. With each book we get to see how Emma evolves and becomes into her own. I am loving this series, there is nothing bland or mushy about it. There is mystery, magic, action and plenty of surprises. Once I started reading it, I just couldn’t put it down. Highly Recommended 💖💖💖
Another novel with Emma Hart in Spellbound. She continues to deral with the fact that the person she sees as the love of her love is with another. In addition, a troll is found frozen in the forest. In addition, In addition, a young man icomes to her for help with a treapassing and urinating on property belonging to another.
In researching the death of the troll she finds that his wife is of course very update. She also, however, finds out that the troll has a secret life that his wife knew nothing about.
Then to top it off she finds out that the death also involves a young witch who needs help with being a skilled witch. And on top of everything else, Emma even ends up being chased by a mob of angry townspeople and having to hide at one point.
I recommend this for anybody that likes fantasy and love stories with a large variety of people living together in a community. And that range is amazing considering that there are witches, vampires, satyrs, minotaur and centaur with even more on top of those.
Book 6 in the Spellbound series was a disappointment. There is finally a resolution to the Daniel/Elsa debacle and Emma’s true powers, but everything was so rushed that it ended up being such an anticlimax.
Why is Ms. Chase rushing through these books? Yes, I realize they have low page counts, but the decisions on where to focus those words are so abstract. We get a page of Emma thinking about Rochester’s kitten mug and musing about him being mayor, but the major plot points like a wedding and the repercussions about Emma’s abilities are brushed over. There were also several formatting issues that started in the last book and have returned in this one, so that a new scene starts without any page breaks and the reader just suddenly goes from one scene to a completely new one. This ended up just being a frustrating, if quick, read.
"Cast Away" by Annabel Chase is the sixth book in the "Spellbound Paranormal Cozy Mystery" series. Emma is convinced that Daniel is under Elsa's spell. She's willing to do anything to save her favorite angel, even put herself in danger. Meanwhile, there is another murder in Spellbound that needs to be solved and a client to represent. Overall, I liked that Emma is willing to see a therapist about her issues. It's also nice to read that despite everything Emma has the support she needs to keep helping others. If you like a quick read filled with creative characters, then this series is for you.
What an adventure! Emma Hart had quite the busy busy bee this book. She has to figure out the murder of a inventor elf/troll who has a questionable past, the impending wedding of the enchanted Daniel and Elsa and also her client who was a werewolf who got caught in a compromising position.
All in all was a good book, however Emma was annoying in the beginning of the book but it got good towards the end. I wish they had focused more on the Daniel enchanting part of the book it was super good, I felt the other stuff was filler even though it wasnt. I like the ending of the book and now off to the next book!
A lovespell, a wedding and her own way of making an impact.
Outstanding. Standing on the sidelines and watching her angel marry the fairy are not for her. Especially when she suspects that he is being given a potion to be in love. Can she prove it? Her trust in right and wrong are pushed to the limits in this book by treachery from someone she trusted. Can a dose of her own brand of magic make things right? The evolution of the characters and their interaction gets better and better with each book. The storyline can very loosely be termed a mystery but really it is all about the people.
.. as Emma is double crossed by the mayor she's desperately trying to find a way to get through to Daniel.
She's also trying to resolve an issue with the werewolf pack over a peeing situation that ends in an indecent exposure.. can she find a way to resolve it without the whole pack demonstrating?
And there's a murder to solve, who killed Walter the troll by freezing him solid? There's plenty of suspects as he's not quite as squeaky clean as everyone initially thinks.
