Teen spy. Female assassin. Regenerative abilities. Jessie has many skills, but waiting for others to act isn’t one of them.

In Golden City, New York, Jessie Tacket returns to the college campus where she stayed with her former guardian, a professor who died. She intends to collect personal items for her new home and discovers a break in.

Jessie has the skill set to neutralize the threat, but she’s technically a civilian now, and her new guardian, a female detective, wants her to remain on the sidelines rather than reveal her abilities.

After stumbling into a crime scene with Jessie, Detective Vick Tacket’s only goal is to keep her new dependent safe. But the teen violates every rule she creates, making protection impossible.

Vick and Jessie clash over how to keep the teen's secrets hidden. With the fledgling adoption off to a rocky start, Jessie and Vick must work together, or someone might die.

Tangled is the second book in this fast-paced, 7-book YA action adventure, The Tacket Secret. If you like clean YA books with strong female characters and a touch of science fiction fantasy, you’ll enjoy this series.

One enhanced teen. One intense detective. A ton of dangerous trouble. – Family fiction for teens and adults.

About the author

During the day, Emma Carrie enjoys amusement parks, basketball, and movies--ripsticking may someday join that list. At night, she's a superhero who reads minds, manipulates time, and shifts shape...at least in her dreams.

Emma writes YA science fiction and fantasy with a dash of Christian suspense. She's explored an active coal mine, fired a Gatling gun from a Humvee, and examined chromosomes with a scanning electron microscope. She's also hitched a ride in a corporate jet and wiped on stage while modeling.

She loves quirky characters who are driven by unconquerable determination--the encouragement she hopes readers take from her stories.

Renamed Jessie Tacket, Emily Brelin has been adopted by Detective Victoria Tacket who although apprised of Jessie’s supernatural ability, doesn’t yet comprehend the depth of Jessie’s covert training. Detective Tacket is bent upon protecting and rehabilitating her 14-year-old charge, but Jessie knows her former handler, the nefarious General, is on her trail, and all connected to her are in more danger than they can understand. When murder and mayhem ensues, Jesse must find a way to protect her protector.

In Tangled, the heroine, Jessie continues to dazzle readers with her intellectual and tactical skills while battling Russian mobsters and confounding Federal agents. This installment expands upon the imaginative plot featuring this 14-year-old superhero. Jessie’s newfound faith helps her deal with the intense guilt and loneliness that she bears as she tries to integrate into normal teen life. And there is nice character development as the author alternates between Jessie Tacket, (Emily Brelin’s new name) and Detective Victoria Tacket. Tangled, the second of this serial novel compels readers to get book three.

Tangled by Emma Carrie
The Tacket Secret Series Book Two
Jessie Tacket may have a new guardian and a new name, but her old life is still out there. Haunting her, chasing her, maybe even catching up to her. She cannot let her guard down for one second. She also has to protect Vick. Even as the woman feels she is the one who has the protector's role.

Detective Victoria Tacket is finding out more about her new ward. And yet, not near enough. She has skills no fourteen-year-old should even know about. Vick is determined to be the one to set the ground rules. To be a parent, even if that's the hardest job she might ever face.

Jessie is an unusual young girl with a scary past. In the previous book her name was Emily, but for her protection she has to change her name. Looking forward to the next novellas that are part of this ongoing story.

With all the action of the first book, Tangled is a solid second installment in this action/sci-fi series. I'll be sure to return to visit the characters again, as well as to (hopefully!) get the answers I've been waiting for regarding some secrets! I'd recommend this series to teens and up who enjoy action-filled stories with some sci-fi and a splash of faith.

New characters and new complications arise in this fast-paced installment. Feels like I got to know the characters more in depth in this one, and I adored the relationship dynamics of the two main characters. No other teen could keep a guardian so on her toes. Ah, Jessie, I can't help but love her.

Jessie and her Guardian, Victoria, are learning to trust each other in the 2nd installment of this series. Vic has her hands full with 14 yo Jessie's who can be sassy and untrusting as she tries to adjust to her new adoption. Yet, she’s striving to do the right thing, sharing her faith when she can, while keeping everyone safe from a past enemy who could show up at any time. Her “enhancements” lend a lot of fun as she butts heads with bad and good guys alike. By the end you'll be begging to know more . . .
