Dying Covenant #3

Everlasting Covenant

Rate this book
Deep down inside, Zoe Lake-Winters knew that she hadn’t yet bid goodbye to Covenant College. The realization that the final fight will be fought at the place she thought she would never see again isn’t lost on her.

Still… she has no choice. Her family comes first and she’s out of options.
Another attack on Sami Winters forces Zoe and Aric to embrace the inevitable. They pack up their kid and courage and join together with friends to return to a forgotten campus located smack dab in the middle of Michigan… and a dark forest full of secrets and trouble.

Evil has always dwelled at Covenant College, and Zoe is determined to make sure she eradicates it… one way or the other. Her former roommates Kelsey and Paris are along from the ride, and a few familiar faces pop up to lend a hand, too.

It seems that someone is putting The Academy back together, and all of the hunters can only agree on one target: Sami Winters. She’s the key to a really big puzzle and everyone wants her power – even if she hasn’t fully manifested it yet.

Aric and Zoe have to join forces one last time with everyone they know and trust to fight the evil that pervades Covenant College if they expect to live happily ever after. The fight will be dark, dirty, and dangerous. No one is safe.

So, strap in for adventure, because this battle will mark the end of it all… one way or another.

When I was a kid, I was torn between whether or not I was going to grow up and be the Incredible Hulk or Wonder Woman. I flirted with being a Jedi Knight for awhile, but I wasn't up for the intense travel associated with the gig. In my teens, I settled on being a writer -- although I had no idea the effort that would entail.
Not only am I a writer now, but I'm a writer in several different mediums. I'm a longtime newspaper reporter, an avid reader and a voracious science fiction fanatic.

Great book.

Love the series. I recommend this author. Paranormal, snarkiness and captivating stories. The stories she writes keep you interested all thru the book.

Lovely ending to the series...but needed better editing

*Spoilers Ahead*

Just finished reading the entire Zoe Lake collection. Overall the group deserves a 10, but along the way during the last couple of books I felt the tone changed and there were quite a bit of inconsistencies that I feel were huge oversights.

This leads me to wonder if a ghost writer finished up or helped close the series. I can't help but think Ms. Lee would know that the main hero was a full blooded wolf, yet in the last book there was mention of his being a half blood at one point to be followed up with him being called full blooded just a couple chapters later.

Same with the main vampire, who all along the series was explained as being tan because it was summer when he was changed. Yet in the last book he talks of being a born vampire, and then again soon after he talks of being bitten.

I think most books have typos. This one had several points where simple words were misspelled or lacks of apostrophes made following the conversation tricky, but no biggie in the long run really. Didn't dissuade from the impact at all, just sharp eyed readers will catch it quite easily.

Having errors in the basic fundamentals of the story line is a bit disappointing though. I think anyone who reads to the last book will understand what I mean and agree. It's just confusing to readers because it causes a huge pause in the experience to think back to the previous 9-10 books to determine if you really know what you thought you did.

Overall though, still a wonderful story. I'd have loved to read more about the 12 year gap in the storyline, but understand that's just preference.

I'm hopeful that these characters could make an appearance somewhere else along the way! Maybe they could take a vacation to Hemlock Bay once or twice 😉😉

Thanks Ms. Lee for ruining my much anticipated "end of summer cleaning and organizing for the start of school" plans, in devastated that I read all 11 books instead! Lol

The end is nigh..

As Zoe and Aric return, with Sami, to Covenant College they realise that they only have one way to go, one way to wrest control of their own lives, and ensure the safety and future of Sami, from the evil forces that continually regroup and retrench on the campus.

With the backing of Rafael, Paris and Kelsey, support from the senior Winters and their wolves, Zoe and Aric have one last chance to finish it for good, but will the people who know and remember them help or hinder?

The newest members of the Alpha Chi fraternity won't remember Aric but they should be aware of his past attempts to save them from twisted and warped leadership.. are they friends or foes?

"Officer Obnoxious", now a police captain, can't fail to remember Zoe. Zoe's aware that the police and campus security have hidden deaths and disappearances before but will he be prepared to help her or does her return as trouble resurges at the college only make her look even more guilty?

And the bitter, whiny, attention seeking Brittany, now married to Roger, Head of English, doesn't seem to have moved on from being the irritating roommate who tried so hard to better Zoe. Brittany believes she deserves all that Zoe has.. love, an adoring gorgeous husband, friends, respect and loyalty.. and a whole lot of worship that no one deserves because, well, she's more important and better than everyone else especially Zoe isn't she?

Brittany still doesn't understand that she's the reason she has achieved nothing in her own right, and the 13 years since they saved her from Mark's scheming only seem to have fuelled her resentment. Ultimately can she get over herself and understand that Zoe never took anything from her? And is she a pawn or a player in the latest onslaught?

I rather hope that we catch up with the Lake-Winters clan in the future, especially as Sami grows up and strikes out on her own.

Paris appears as a regular character in the Death Gate Reapers series (which follows the Grimlock series!). From a timeline perspective it follows from this point as Paris's son Alvis is 2 years old, although the series isn't a direct continuation Sami does pop up a couple of times so who knows where the future will take us?!

The final book of the last trilogy blew me away. At first I started reading the series about Zoe and Aric in preparation for the new Dead Gate series book, but as I got to know these characters better I became more invested and hoped they always came out on top.

Covenant College has been a threat to Zoe since she started freshman year, now zealots and the Academy has gone too far and they're after her daughter. Zoe always suspected but didn't believe that the one person who she always butted heads with is involved in whats going on now.

Over the years Zoe has made an impression on everyone that keeps trying to come after her and adopted a no second chance rule. That rule is what made her able to do what needed to be done every time including this one. With the amount of evil that always pops up at the campus something drastic needs to happen. The one thing they weren't expecting to happen, was "Bob" showing up.

I am so glad that everyone got to play their own part in the end. Matilda has made an impression on a very important person and is there to help finish things too. I could not have wished for a better ending to their story and can't wait to see them in crossovers. I am going to miss them and found out that being sarcastic and being exactly like Zoe is ok. She has become my favorite character in any series!!

oh my, oh my the end is here for now.

I have loved this series from the very beginning Zoe. Aric, Paris, Kelsey, Raphael are reunited for the final battle and what a doozie it is.

Sammi is the most important person in Aric and Zoe's world she also has a huge target on her back because of who her parents are but it's time to end it all Zoe is done with people coming for her daughter and Aric has her back always and they are going to end it back where it all began at Covenant College, it's time to get their nearest and dearest to help them end it all and keep Sammi safe.

Sammi is just hilarious talk about Zoe on crack.....lol and omg her and Raphael are hilarious the questions, questions, questions and teasing Aric just to funny.

everything about this book was awesome even the ending but you'll just have to read it :-)

In Everlasting Covenant, threats to Sami have brought Zoe, Aric, Paris, Kelsey, and Rafael back to Covenant College. The Academy is back and gearing up to be bigger than ever. In this last adventure, everything has come full circle - Covenant College is where it all began and it is where Zoe and Aric will take their final stand and end everything, one way or another. Everlasting Covenant had all of the elements I love and have come to expect from one of the Covenant books. Zoe, Aric, and Sami were all their wonderful, snarky, emotional selves. The adventure was fast-paced and exciting. It was fun to revisit old characters and places. It was all a little bittersweet though - the series is over. Everlasting Covenant was a wonderful good bye to the people and places that have become so familiar over the years.

Don't end this

This series has made me laugh, gasp, get angry, love and hate the characters and not want to let go. Evil never ends not even when a story does. The writing is excellent and the plot of a family trying to stay alive against the odds fascinating as are the family dynamics. Mages, vampires and shifters. A child born with both mage and shifter powers that evil wants to control. Perhaps a new series? The child grows and her powers exceed her parents and a new evil develops to go after her. I know once you start and finish this series you won't let go. It's just too much of a good time.

Great While Covenant College Series

Zoe, Aric, Sami all the Gang. Great stories , entertaining books. I Didn't leave a review after each one. Not because they wasn't good. Through our each book as more grew to climactic ending I did find myself having re-read pages as wrong words would show up in to many sentences. If you had faith knowing were to jump ahead to figure out what was meant, the story kept flow. Fortunately I'm an avid reader of Amanda Lee stories. Love ninety percent so easy for me. In my opinion, Zoe and Eric might take step back, Not forgotten, maybe Sami could come into her own.

A perfect end to this series! I'll admit that I occasionally struggled with Zoe in the beginning, but she grew on me and I enjoyed the two trilogies immensely. While I am sad to say goodbye, this was a great way to do it. I loved catching up with everyone, and there were some fun twists and turns in this story. Also, THAT ENDING! Wow! That is the kind of romance that I love and why I just adore anything written by Ms. Lee. Say that this series is ending, but it is definitely going out on a high note!

Amazing

I waited until the end to write a review because I've read many series only to be disappointed with the ending. This was so not the case with this series. Do yourself a favor and start with the beginning, but make sure you have the time to enjoy it. Each book was capable of being a stand alone, but together they were exceptional. I recommend this series to anyone who enjoys paranormal fiction. There is romance, but that's not the main theme. I will be rereading this series, probably more than once.

A fitting ending

A very tense, fast moving story. Zoe and Aric have had enough. The latest attack leads them back to where everything began.

Covenant College still has a few secrets to give up.

The group including Paris and Kelsey spend time gathering information. Several characters from the past feature in an interesting conclusion of the Covenant tales.

A surprising ending too good to spoil.

I know Zoe, Aric and Sami continue to pop up in other stories from this author but one day when Sami is old enough it would be great to read her story.

Well that story certainly made up for my slight disappointment of book two. Amanda has created to really funny characters and the dialogue at times is hilarious. Strong third story to end the trilogy with a terrific and unseen twist towards the finale . I've now read all the Covenant books and recommend that as a reader get the first book and work your way through the lot, you'll not be disappointed .

A fantastic finally to a great series. Zoe, Aric, Rafael, Paris and Kelsey all head back to where it all began for the final showdown, bringing junior Mage Sami along for the final battle.
Full of the usual fun, snark, drama and heart. Amanda M Lee has finished of this series beautifully. Though I do hope we’ll get the occasional cameos from our favourite mage and family in some of her other series.

Enjoyable read

It feels like young adult reading, and I still loved it, though I am not a young adult. The characters are great. So real. It was funny sometimes, sexy without needing to be graphic (which I appreciate a great deal), and other times, poignant. The whole series is worth the time to read them.(Small spoiler) I was a bit disappointed not to see Zoe's parents in this book.

Fantastic ening

I love all the female leads from this author, but Zoe is my favorite. I am so sad to see this series end. I am so glad the author gave us closure while leaving it open for Sami. I literally cried, laughed and got angry right along with the characters. This series was so well written.

Loved this series

I am so going to miss reading about Zoe and Aric and all of Zoe's sarcastic comments. Some of the mushy love stuff was over the top but I'm a happily ever after kind of girl so I just deal with it. I absolutely loved this series though and am sad that it's over with. I could definitely see myself re-reading this series again

Sami is going to be a wick d bad a$$ when she's older and I can only hope that a series based on her will eventually pop up. Until then..... So long Covenant College.

Snarky black comedy

This is the finale in a series of twelve books. The amount of snark and sarcasm is tremendous but somehow you still get attached to the main characters and their story. It will be much better if you start from book one "Awakening" and read through. All the books are o n KU so free if you subscribe.

Everlasting Covenant

I just finished reading all of Amanda M. Lee's books and I am not happy because there are no more great stories. They are full of love, humor, snarking. I have been reading 50 plus years and loved all the stories she wrote. Read them! Thank you for writing these great stories. Don't ever stop.

Great ending

Great ending to this series, want to read more about the characters. Having read all the Grimm and then grim gate series which Paris joins in not long after this book. It help feel in some background information that was hinted out in the last grim gate book. But really want to read more about Sami growing up becoming adult.

Amanda M. Lee did it again. She made me laugh and cry through this books. I love Zoe & Aric's life and the live they shared between themselves and their family and frieds. I'm glad that Sami finely grew into her powers and was able to save Zoe. I highly recommend this series. Although I wish she would not have changed narrators.

Wow, the end, in a way

What a fantastic series, I just love these characters; Sami is still a little "intense," but maybe there'll be a Sami series. This story just grew and grew, anticipation building and building, just outstanding. What an excellent job, also have to give a nod to the artist of the cover images, great all the way around.

Sad for the last book

Rarely does a book make me cry, but this last book caught me a couple times. While it would be fun to read a story from Sami's point of view, I think this is a perfect ending of a wonderful series.

From anger to tears to happiness

What an emotional roller coaster. I went from being curious, to furious to sad to happy. Another exciting and riveting story. So happy that the Winters get to live a happy life.
