Dreams and Reality #12

Flawless Dreams

Rate this book
Four months ago, the branch of the federal government that enforces the Serial Killer & Mass Murder laws was attacked. It was organized and used every ruthless killer that could be scrounged up to carry it out. Aislinn Cain and the SCTU lead the charge to take back their neighborhood and the Fortress.

They succeeded, but at high costs to law enforcements and civilians. It left Kansas City and the government reeling. Backlash was immediate and harsh. The Violent Crimes Unit of the FBI was disbanded, leaving Malachi Blake and Caleb Green without jobs. Aislinn Cain was suspended for three months. However, the worst part was that most of the killers involved escaped.

When piles of bones begin turning up in public parks around Kansas City, nobody wants to deal with such a blatant statement that a serial killer is stalking their backyards. He’s organized and arranges to the bones to shock anyone that might find them. He wants everyone to read the stories that the bones tell about his victims.

With all the turmoil, Aislinn Cain’s suspension is lifted so that she can lead her own unit to track this home town serial killer. Most of her team are in training, only Xavier Reece is familiar with the rules of the SCTU. They are the beginnings of a second SCT unit. They must move quickly though because this killer has been at it for years and has suddenly accelerated his killing pace.
Just as Aislinn thinks things can’t get any worse, a mystery man shows up. He brings violence and death with him. Her unwanted stalker is willing to kill for her, but she doesn’t know who he is or why. Until she gets a single clue and realizes the past of one SCTU member could force them to stop investigating the bone cleaner and start a frantic search for a far darker serial killer.

Cliffhanger...and i actually liked it

I normally hate cliffhangers. I loved this one. Flawless Dreams began with the SCTU in turmoil, but led quickly into the hunt and Chase that I have grown to love. The story takes a bit of a twist with the introduction of a new nemesis, and the ensuing chase leads to a twist and cliffhanger that is satisfying, mostly because the first killer is taken care of. I can't wait for the next book...not that that is at all unusual. Keep them coming.

Considering I devoured this series when I discovered them, this book was eagerly anticipated.

First of all, do not read the sample. The first chapter is terrible. It was co-written and I don't think the editor bothered with the chapter as there's typos and repetition. Thankfully, it's one chapter and you go back to Ace.

This book gives you two serial killers to ponder and because it's Ace one is after her. This book holds the usual suspense and pace and introduces some new characters. After a wait it was nice to see the SCTU back again.

Good Addition to Series - Cliffhanger Ending

Very interesting addition to series. Finally start getting answers to Gabriel's backstory as Aislin leads the team to solve a series of serial murders. I am getting a little tired of Aislin getting injured though, I'm worried about what will happen in the future to her. Well worth reading even with cliffhanger ending (which I'm not a fan of).

I guess when a series goes this long some character backstory needs to be added but I find it often seems to contradict earlier books. It's not a massive issue but does niggle at you as a reader. The example that stood out in this book was Aislinn's very clear core memory of her sister Isabella and a comprehensive description of her appearance.
In every other book she claimed to have no recollection of her sisters looks.

Great Book But Typos

I love this series and eagerly wait for every release. This book, storyline wise, did not disappoint and ended with a huge cliffhanger. I have to give it only 3 stars as the writing wasn't as polished, didn't flow as well and it was full of typos. Not sure if a new editor was used but I'd get a new one.

Great book. One of the best in the series.

All of her books are starting to culminate into one gigantic finish. I read this one in record time and am on my way to buying the next one. I can tell I'm going to be in a real funk when this series comes to an end but I can't make myself slow down.

Frustrated

I downloaded this book on my Kindle as I really like this series. I don't think the entire book downloaded as it abruptly ended. It shows several pages left in book but they aren't there.

WENDIGO

A litle dissapinted with this book, the one before was eclectic, this iis more subdue and the different sub-stories doesn't work well.

Either way, we still have Ainslinn, Gabriel, Malachi, Fiona, Xavier, and the new one Rachael

This latest release by Hadena James has to be one of the bloodiest yet, with two serial killers at work, lots of bodies, and trouble galore for Ace and her team to deal with. The one thing that would improve my reading pleasure of this series is some kind of series cheat sheet with a quick reference guide of characters encountered, place names that've been shortened etc (and a quick recap of each book outline with an update for the last each time there's a new one), as I find that by the time I go to read a new book, I've forgotten all that information, and when they're being referenced (especially some from earlier books), I have no idea who or what they are!! However, that's probably just my brain injury showing how useless I am, and the book itself is definitely an awesome read that all fans of the series are going to absolutely love. Though maybe not the ending....
Ps there were quite a few spelling and editing errors in this book, more than any of the others I've read of this author's, which were disappointing (as noted in book notes). However, whilst these did slightly distract (I'm a little ocd that way!), they didn't spoil my enjoyment of the story, and so didn't remove a star from the rating. If it was possible to give half stars however, it would've removed a half!

My parents ran a pest control business for many years when I was a kid. It was not unusual to open a drawer in my house and see bugs in little glass cases, so my dad could show clients what certain bugs looked like, especially poisonous spiders. Having said that, thank god they never owned an insect farm. Ugh, my skin crawls just thinking about it!
I really enjoy when a new D&R book comes out and the killer/killers have a method that is not the norm. Yes, I know, the killer stabbed his victims but letting their corpses be fed on by insects...then selling those insects to the public! BLECH! But oh so entertaining!

More in the continuing story of the very unique, Aislinn Cain. More psychopaths, more death and violence. I despise cliffhangers. Unique, interesting characters, unique plot lines...morbid humor. I miss the saner members of Aislinn 's family who are in hiding.....for a psychopathic sociopath, Aislinn is a very likable character. Poor Gabriel finds his Wendigo..or vice versa.

I LOVE this series! For anyone who likes lots of murder and mayhem, this is the series for you! Aislynn and her team are on the hunt for serial killers that are on the loose, but Aislynn has a stalker. One who is targeting those that matter to her. The only thing I didn't like was this one was an actual cliffhanger.

I have read all of the Dreams and Reality books and I have to say that this book, the latest in the series is by far the most gripping, suspenseful and answers the most questions. I absolutely cannot wait for the next book.

This left me biting my nails and with the most anxiety of all the books in the series. It's about to seriously get real, folks

I was anxiously looking forward to the next book in the series and Flawless Dreams did not disappoint. Hard to put down and has many twists and turns. The ending is quite the cliff hanger! I can't wait for the next book in the series which is by far one of my all time favorites.

Editorial issues abound!

The story remains interesting, but the writing errors are so distracting I've forgotten what I read.... Very poor copy editing is the most kind thing I assert. Word up!
