FIREDRAKE is book 5 in the Dragon Knights series and it seems that D’Arc is delving deeper and deeper into this wonderful word of dragons, magic and passion! After returning home after fifteen years, Drake discovers just how much he has been missed. His dragon partner, Lady Jenet couldn’t be more happy to learn that her knight has returned to her. However, Drake still doesn’t believe himself worthy enough to be her true knight. This disappoints Jenet a bit, but she will take Drake any way she can get.
First off, I LOVED JENET! She is such a sweetheart! I adored how protective she was of Drake and how sweet and childlike she seemed to be in some cases, but then fierce and noble in others. She was definitely my favorite character in this book by far!
One thing I loved about this book is that there are so many main characters, but what’s interesting is that D’Arc introduces them individually and then makes you fall in love with each of them AND THEN makes the character fall in love with each other. This is part of the reason why it takes awhile before the main characters Mace, Drake and Krysta get together, but in the end, I thought it was worth taking the time to get to know them individually first so by the time they fall in love, readers already have established a connection with them.
I thought the threesome relationship in this story was believable. Though Mace was far more easier to fall in love with than Drake, I thought Drake’s side of the story added more appeal to the story. It was enjoyable reading from his POV.
In addition to the steamy sex and the great characters is the fact that D’Arc seems to reveal aspects of the world with each new installment in this series. Things I never thought possible are being uncovered and it makes me wide-eyed with excitement to see the world continue to grow. In this book, we discover gryphons and learn what a Firedrake is. We encounter wizards and more dragon species! The world just keeps getting more and more interesting and I love how much there is to this world. If you’re not reading for the hot sex or the fun characters, then you should read this series for its worldbuilding. It stretches the bounds of the imagination!

Well, she’s finally stopped making all the women princesses. She’s made the main character a mage who can work the flame. I guess no one is allowed to be a commoner in these stories!

You guessed right…it’s Drake’s story!!!
I’ve wanted his story since Prince of Spies. And this did not disappoint. Lots of twists, unexpected characters but still the high heat and low stress love and chemistry of the trio.
This couple actually had more of a rocky start since Drake was in denial about his feelings and becoming a knight. His self esteem when it came to being good enough had suffered greatly when he had grown up in the Castle Lair before he struck out on his own.
Mace was an all around solid knight. And Krysta and Drake will bring so much sunshine into his ordered world, plus he seems more than game to jump in.
The appearance of Gryffid and rather the disappearance of Wil was rather brushed aside rather quickly but I have a feeling it will get fleshed out more in coming books since they all seem to build off one another. The major take away is that the plot is still moving toward a huge battle and the Citadel and the trapped wizard Skir is at the heart of it. More magic and hidden lines are being unearthed.

Not a bad story. I liked that Krysta was a guard (and spy). I like that Mace could hold his own with Drake. I thought Drake held on to his "I'm not good enough" attitude a little to long. It got a bit annoying. Still overall a good story, and I plan to read more.

good but not the best
I have read several of her books and while I love this series this one was definitely not something I’ll read over and over. I feel there was definitely favoritism towards Mace and that Drake deserved better. That because Mace wasn’t the ladies man before he got the majority of her time and affection while Drake was to just watch from afar. Even appearances in later novels didn’t seem to correct this.

Not bad, but several parts were repetitive. There was at least one twist that I didn't see coming. The story did add to the overall plot and gave the reader a glimpse of what's ahead. The introduction of more key players helped to make the story fresher. This is a quick read that was just okay for me.

Again, a story that surprised me with its decision to explore further into the world of the story and develop a character to more than the reader expected he could be. Fun series!

My favorite book of the eight Dragon Knight novels and novella that I've read so far! Drake of the Five Lands, a bard who's traveled since he left home at age 15 who was adopted by the Jinn and become famous for his songs and singing, is also a spymaster for Prince Nico, the Prince of Spies. He's a major figure in that book but his background is really detailed in this one. He left home as he felt he was a failure in his training to be a knight and that he couldn't live up to his dragon sister's desires to claim him. His father constantly criticized him and he has missed the dragon Jenet since he left, creating many of his love songs with her in mind. His main friend growing up was Mace, even though his father always praised Mace for being steady, as Drake was not. Drake comes home to bring urgent news of a plot to abduct a young prince to King Roland, reuniting with Jenet lovingly, but still refusing her claim to be his mate. He sees his family, but is still at loggerheads with them due to his refusal of Jenet. He meets a Jinn who's now a Castleton guard, Krysta, who moves him as no other has. Unfortunately, she's already started a tentative relationship with Mace, who's now partnered with the dragon Nellin. The three humans start to grow together, then Prince Wil is kidnapped and the five set off to find him. Their travels and the magic that they find together and within themselves, helps them to create a loving family and Drake accepts the claim from Jenet, so the humans and dragons have become a force to be reckoned with. Krysta is strong, talented and willing to share their three-sided marriage, bonding with the dragons more through the aid of some magic by a gryphon. This is good to read alone but even better as part of the series.

This was an excellent book... right until the moment in which Drake accepts joining Janet.
Don't get me wrong, it was great he finally decided to be her knight, but I was not convinced. Just the day before he was still refusing heartly becoming a knight, and then after talking with the gryphon, suddenly he wants to be a knight and be part of the trio with Krysta and mace. So unbelievable. You need more than 2 minutes to make a life-altering decision, more so if previously you were 100% against it.
And Krysta and Mace relationship? It was rather bland. His relationship with Drake was far more interesting. It could even lead to a romantic relationship between them both; that would be plain hot.

I was very happy with the way this story played out since I already liked the character Drake from earlier in the series. My only complaint is the repetition of certain key points in the story. As this is the fifth book of the series, BD should expect the reader to already understand the basis of the knights menage relationships with their mate. Even if someone picked this book up first, it only needs to be mentioned once, as does the issues Drake had with his blood-father. There are also a few other things BD repeated too many times, and I found myself skipping paragraphs to get to the point. Other than that, it was a good story and I look forward to reading the next.

The story continues, and even though each book is about the pairings of dragons, their knights and much detailed descriptions of the three sided love making, each book makes the characters, both human and dragon, real and sympathetic. Many adventures, fighting the smiths and the army of evil king Lucan adds to the excitement. So does continuing ties to the Jinn.
This story follows Drake, who we met in Prince of Spies, as he returns home to his family and the dragon he loves, only to find there is much more to his destiny.
My favourite of the series, I think. I've immediately bought the kindle copy of the next in the series, Storm Dragon.

This book had a lot in terms of her story... It has turned into literary crack for me, despite the really cheesy sex parts of which by now I just skip over cause I want to know whats happening with the story.
The author still does the thing that upsets me with most authors and that is there is no real diversity in her characters. So if your looking for people of any color, don't look here, so for me that's where this goes wrong... but most authors don't see diversity as something to celebrate. Maybe because her dragons are all different colors she thinks it's covered... who knows.

I must say this story was more interesting than the previous books I have read in this series. The plot was much more interesting. The main characters (Drake, Mace, and Krysta) take off to save Prince Wil who was kidnapped. Once they locate him, things become very engaging.
This book is not for the faint of heart when it comes to the sex scenes. They are HOT; but, there is anal play, exhibitionism, and menage a trois. Only mature audiences should read this publication.

Krysta is a warrior in her own right, and for awhile I wondered if she would end up as Jenet's knight. The concern about The Citadel is still unresolved, so I will keep reading.

Another great book by this author!! This world seems real while I am reading this book and I want to keep going after I have finished this story! All characters in the main couple are believable including the dragons and the enemy is certainly real as well. This is the next step in the defence of Draconia and I don't have a clue what will happen next which has me on the seat of my chair!!

this one was much better!
it seemed to flow better and made more sense, as they didnt jump straight into bed with each other.
each male lead found things about themselves they didnt know, becoming more powerfl in their own way as the book progressed.

A treat for a vivid imagination!
Takes me to a far away land, and then soars further! Drake's uncertainty is a fresh look and brings credibility to his character. Love the way it all comes together, except the last page is very abrupt. (Just like this review)

It was ok....too long, too repetitive. Somewhat predictable. I'll read the next when it comes out....but these are definitely not the best books in the world. The sex is pretty hot, though :)

Series is still as addictive and crackalicious as ever. Slight change of tone but more diversity of magic as new species discovered in hiding. Love!
