I could tell right away that The Word Search Oracle: Yoga for the Brain was going to be a fun and unique book. Never before have I seen such a book, with word search puzzles, secret messages, and even more for the reader to enjoy! This fun and inspirational book begins with an introduction about the authors and the book, then discusses some of the aspects, including oracles—what is an oracle? and how to use the book. The word search puzzles are set up in a pleasing way, and these puzzles gradually get harder as the reader progresses. Basically, you are not only doing a regular word search puzzle, but looking for a secret message that goes along with a theme. Some of the many themes included are ambition, courage, imagination, trust, faith, and happiness. There are so many! Authors Cristina Smith, Rick Smith, and Darity Wesley did a superb job with layout and the overall positive vibe of the book.

What I enjoyed most was that The Word Search Oracle: Yoga for the Brain was not just a word search puzzle book, but also packed with facts and information. There were write-ups about the human brain, fearlessness, trusting intuition, and much more. Sitting down with the book is a great way to relax and stretch those brain muscles. I can see why the puzzles are considered “yoga for the brain!” The themes held my attention, I was pleased that there was an answer key at the back of the book, and I enjoyed my time highlighting the words throughout. This book is highly recommended for those looking for puzzles, relaxation, inspiration, and enjoyment!

I gave the authors’ previous book, The Tao of Sudoku- Yoga for the Brain, to my sister who loved it so much I thought I’d buy her this one. Hah! She’ll never see this copy. MINE. I had a lot of fun with this. Words, not numbers, are my thing. I love The Word Search Oracle.

I read the opening instructions but when I looked at that first block of letters, so much positive energy has been imbued into this book by its collaborating creators that my own inner oracle must have kicked in. I started to identify words immediately. I wrote them down, in the order I saw them. When I later looked at the list of words for which we were to search, I discovered that some of the ones I’d spotted weren’t intended to be a part of this puzzle. And when I read my choices in order, they formed a sort of poem. I’d apparently stumbled into a special “oracle” message, just for me!

So this book gave me, not only what is promised, but yet another level of oracular goodness on top of what is already a multi-layered experience of yoga for the brain. Or was that part of the plan all along?

Here’s my poem, if you’re curious, the order in which words caught my attention, the first four among the “unofficial” words I saw:

Prana Era!
Wake, raw life!
Awaken!
Appreciate good,
sustain-able.
Bring open elation!

Inner journeys,
meaningful support,
my bad heart thankful!
Deeper:
Discover relationship core.
Blessings bring lift;
Rediscover Spirit.

And then, I also decoded a mantra as instructed by the book, and read the accompanying oracle message printed with the puzzle. I am triply rich now. Thank you to all involved for this delightful, unexpected experience! I'll have to buy another copy for my sister. And then there's my husband ...

I've always loved word puzzles, including word searches. This book of them has a nice twist and has some added spirituality, which I don't think I've ever seen paired with word searches before.

I don't think the searches will be particularly hard to complete, but I appreciated each little simple reminder that accompanied them. These spiritual reminders focused on growth, letting go of things that don't serve you, and self reflection.

I liked the different historical facts about different aspects of spirituality. I also liked that these word searches are on the larger side, which makes them easier to complete. A nice gift idea for any puzzle lover.

“The Word Search Oracle: Yoga for the Brain,” by Cristina Smith and Rick Smith, featuring oracle messages by Darity Wesley, is Book 2 in the Sudoku Wisdom Series. The series is unique in approach by incorporating philosophy into an entertaining, challenging puzzle book.

Having previously read and reviewed “The Tao of Sudoku: Yoga for the Brain,” I was excited to get my hands on this next edition. The book starts with the definition of an Oracle and how we can use the messages in the puzzles to delve deeper and create or expand a mindful spiritual practice and greater awareness of oneself.

Each puzzle presents a focused theme (i.e., Connection, Gratitude, Purpose, Forgiveness), with a short paragraph of reflection on the subject, the word search puzzle itself, and a secret message revealed at the end by using the letters left-over after the word search is finished. The secret message presents in the form of a mantra or positive affirmation, which are helpful tools for building a positive mental attitude and outlook.

Mixed in throughout the puzzles are pages that present interesting facts about our eyes, the brain, the practice of mental yoga and the benefits to our general well-being. There are also some great tips for solving the puzzles, using some techniques I had not considered before.

I am partial to word search puzzles. I’ve been doing them since I was a young girl, usually timing myself, and creating a competitive atmosphere. “The Word Search Oracle: Yoga for the Brain,” challenged me to incorporate a different attitude and approach; to slow down and consider the individual puzzles as part of a conscious spiritual experience. With that in mind, I tried to develop a (somewhat) consistent routine, typically at the end of the day, when I was ready to unwind and still my mind.

That said, while I did try to stick to my nightly routine, there were times when I couldn’t help myself and rushed through a puzzle because I was eager to reveal the mantra on topic matters that really struck a chord with me. Gratefully, this book teaches there is no wrong way to solve the puzzle, and I learned a lot about myself during the process.

I subscribe to a daily online crossword puzzle where users’ completion times are tracked. After reading this book, I realize there is a lot of unnecessary stress created with timing yourself. My experience with “The Word Search Oracle: Yoga for the Brain,” by Cristina Smith, Rick Smith, and Darity Wesley has taught me that life (and puzzle solving) can be much more pleasant when you slow things down a bit! I highly recommend this book for puzzle gurus and those who want to develop or enhance their spiritual practice.

Combine a fun word game with profound insights, and you’re given a remarkable tool for spiritual development and self-realization. The Word Search Oracle: Yoga for the Brain offers a creative, fun, meditative respite from the busy chatter of the mind… while flexing your brain.

What’s really unique is that each of the 60 word puzzles in the book is introduced by a philosophical Oracle on topics ranging from Fearlessness to Forgiveness.

And once you’ve worked out the puzzle, the words remaining in the grid make up a corresponding Mantra (yoga asana for the mind). These Mantras serve as positive affirmations to reprogram your mind for greater mindfulness, joy, health and love.

The Word Search puzzles provide cognitive training, cleverly disguised as fun. And the inspirational Oracles and Mantras help reprogram our thinking, replacing negative old thought patterns:

“…solving puzzles engages our ability to compare new information hidden in a puzzle with what is already dowloaded in our memory. As a result of our amazing neuroplasticity, neurons make new connections inside our brains, blending imaginative association and memory. We alchemize that data to pioneer new perspectives, conclusions and ideas… It is a kind of puzzle vision super power.”

Namaste!

What a neat book! I enjoy doing word searches as a relaxing activity while watching tv or online vids, so I'm always on the lookout for cool, unusual collections like this! I love how along with word searches focusing on various inspirational, spiritual, and fun new age tidbits of information, this book also includes little hidden oracle messages within each puzzle after completed! It is so much fun to see what the book has to say to you! Each word search also includes a devotional-type conversation on the subject at hand, that is sure to lift your spirits and help you focus on the important stuff at the end of any stressful day. You can also find fun little factoids and commentaries included throughout on associated subjects as well that are enlightening and helpful. I love, love, love this book and really hope there will be more additions to the "Yoga for the Brain" series!

I received a free copy of "The Word Search Oracle" by Cristina Smith, Rick Smith and Darity Wesley.

This book is not simply a Word Search, it also guides you along the way with inspirational readings. The readings cause you to stop and think about your life and where it is going.

The Word Search starts simply, my 7 years old grand son enjoyed working out the first puzzle. My husband and I started from the back of the book for the real challenges.

I especially liked the inspirational messages, which moved the spirit. You should try it!

Ever meet someone for the first time and feel like you have known them forever? That profound heart connection that transcends time and space? Darity and I had that extraordinary experience when we met 20 some years ago. We have been friends and collaborators ever since.

Darity's long standing Oracle guidance readings have been treasured by her global community for more than a decade. We decided to play together in this book, making her readings into puzzles with hidden, secret messages to decode. My brother Rick created these fabulously fun puzzles. My longtime friend Melissa served as editor, making us all sound good! The synergy of deep friendship made this book a soul satisfying experience to write and share. I imagine you can feel the love and joy emanating!

Like our award winning first book, The Tao of Sudoku- Yoga for the Brain™, this book has fascinating facts and enlightening insights in the chapters between sets of puzzles that are guaranteed to make you go hmmm...

Have fun solving all of these deliciously unique puzzles and inspiring secret messages! All while entertaining, maintaining and training your brain. The Word Search Oracle team invites you to play!

This was a cool, handy diversion and came in handy many times when I just had a little time to kill. The puzzles become progressively more difficult, but never become very difficult at all. They are short and sweet and filled with words to help generate positive thoughts. Any letters left over from the word search can be transferred to create some neat mantras or positive sentences. It is a purse-sized companion that can be taken anywhere.

I’m not. Yoga person, but I enjoy word searches. These weren’t overly challenging but were just enough to enjoy when you don’t have a lot of time. A skipped a lot of the content like the mantras.

I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway and absolutely LOVED IT. However I took it on vacation to Asia and somehow lost my copy, just when I only had about ten puzzles left. Well, I hope whoever finds it enjoys doing the puzzles as much as I did.
