Arulean Black has never quite been the same since the wars that devastated dragon-kind, decimating their numbers and forcing them into hiding. He lost many loved ones and watched the weredragon race crumble, all the while unable to stop these events from happening. With the distance between him and his mate further than ever, Arulean lives as a shadow of his former self, drifting from one day to the next and haunted by the guilt of their history. When the last of the Elders dies, Arulean decides it is time to call for a Summit, a meeting of all the dragon kings across the globe, to determine what their future will hold. He is determined to keep the peace, while his mate tries to rally support for revenge. The problem? He feels like a living ghost. What he doesn’t expect? To meet a young omega with fire in his heart and heat in his eyes who makes him feel alive again.
Rajiah Bronze has never quite felt like he belongs. He’s never appreciated the company of other dragons, and despite his mother’s urging, never felt the desire to have a mate. He’s all but convinced he doesn’t want one. He spends most of his days traveling the world and living among lesser shifters. He finds their presence much more calming than that of dragon-kind. However, when his mother dies, he’s given the task of bringing her ashes to the Summit. The problem? His older sister is pressuring him to find a mate. What he doesn’t expect? To fall completely head-over-heels for the powerful and elusive dragon king, Arulean Black.
There are certain lines they shouldn’t cross, but those, coincidentally, are the exact lines that might be worth crossing after all.

My goodness. Okay, I can honestly say this is the best work by the author. Bloody heck, where did all this sweet, enchanting romance come from??????
There was so much angst, such adrenaline while reading this, it feels like having had a ride on a rollercoaster! I was fascinated with Arulean from the first book of the series, almost as much as I was with Dylan and Blake, and Rajiah made me fall in love with him in Uncharted Waters with his core of steel and love for Arulean.
So this book completely sent me to cloud nine when I read the blurb, and it was everything I expected and more! And a little less than my greedy self wanted. :D
More - I was NOT expecting the depth of emotions that got explored, and I was in no way prepared for my heart to be so engaged that I tried to sneak reading a couple pages while preparing for a test! ;-) But that's Noah Harris for you. Giving you love when you sorely need it. The writing in this one is far more amazing and engaging than in all his previous works. From the first word till the last, my interest never waned, my laser-like focus on the intense emotions never wavered. I wanted to snuggle with it like I would under a blanket in winters.
Less - I was dying out of curiosity at the end of Uncharted Waters as to what will happen with Arulean and Rajiah and how it will come about. So along with a prequel, I also wanted a sequel. And I want it even more after reading Dragons Sky.
There were quite a few typos and misspelled words, but I am going to ignore them in favour of the A-class story-telling and plot.
*** Wrapping up the Sailing Deep series, we have a marvelously exciting, and sexy tale ! Arulean, the Black Dragon, and Lyphnia, the Red Dragon have been mates for centuries, but no longer get along. She refuses to let him break the bond, and his power to control her would weaken if unmated. She's a war mongering, selfish ruler. * This episode shows us how Arulean and Rijiah become close and form the Shadow Pack. Arulean helps when a young wolf shifter needs medical care. Later he discovers Rajiah is Lyphnia's brother, who has come for the Summit following the Elder Mother's death. Omega Rajiah, a Bronze Dragon, is beautiful and strong. Keeping the peace is Arulean's priority, while unrest pleases Lyphnia. There are meetings and festivities as Arulean and Rajiah spend time together. Each is attracted. He and Rajiah become lovers, hiding from Lyphnia.
Each wishes they could mate. Their sex scenes are breathtaking, especially the one that begins with them flying. Wow ! This is well written; a very descriptive, well detailed story. The characters are strong, deep, and amazing. Each personality is different and fascinating. It can stand alone, but the series journey is worth the time. The conclusion leaves us happy and full of wonder. Highly recommended. ENJOY ! ======================= This finishes at 64%, and then we get a novella about Jaguar shifters. ===================== Thank you dear Darlene for the rec ! =================
For me, this is definitely the best book in the Navy Seal series. I really enjoyed reading this and not only because of dragons :)
Here I finally got the emotions and the sweet romance I was missing in the other books of the series.
It's the story about Arulean and Rajiah, two secondary characters from the previous books, getting to know each other and falling in love. It also shows how the Shadow Pack came to be. I got caught up in their tentative courtship and the slow build-up of their passion. I liked both characters in the previous books and was happy to get to know them better.
Note: Story ends at 64%. After this, there is a bonus story unrelated to the Navy Seal series.
This return to the dragons from Harris is a delight
3.5*
This one is really a prequel to the trilogy which came before it but it works just as well at the end of the series.
In this we discover how Arulean and Rajiah met and how the final break between dragonkind's king and queen came about to lead into the events of the previous three books.
It's a gorgeous piece of story telling as it fills in the background to those other books which focussed more on the wolf shifters Dylan and Blake.
Here we find out about Dragon lore, the place Arulean and his estranged queen Lyphnia rule over, the way other shifters feel about the dragons and, surprisingly, insight into why the red Dragon behaved the way she did in rebellion.
It's relatively angst free and the steam level is moderate apart from one truly inspired aerial mating!
Noah Harris can really tell a story!! Loved this series and getting some back story behind the Dragon King was just wonderful. There are glimpses throughout the series, but giving him a story all to himself was PERFECT!! This is a great series and a fantastic addition to it!!
Beware... breathtaking Dragons! Superb prequel to an awesome series. Dragons, the Noah Harris way! Awesome! I'm a self confessed fan of paranormal shifters, but dragons have always come second to werewolves... Not any more! This book has turned me round. Not only is it book four of the M/M Navy Seal series, which just happens to be a favourite of mine, but it's a prequel, telling the story of Arulean Black and Rajiah Bronze who were introduced in previous books. I fell in love with them in book three. There are two qualities that make this book stand out from normal shifter stories. First, the amazingly detailed dragon lore it describes. There is a huge amount of background on how and why things are the way they are and Noah weaves it so cleverly into the story that you don't notice you're learning everything you need to know about dragons! Second, the emotional quality of the writing, something I've come to expect from Noah Harris lately. I really felt for Arulean and Rajiah as they tentatively change their inherent beliefs, come to understand the forces that are driving them and ultimately fight for their futures. These two qualities are beautifully showcased in the awesome description of the flight of the dragons during the full moon and the flight of Arulean and Rajiah when they finally accept their fate. I was not only entranced by the whole spectacle but also by the deep seated emotions evoked by the characters. In truth... I got lost in this book from the very beginning. This tale adds stunning details to the other books such as how the Shadow Pack, a mismatched group of various shifters, came to be. It also explains the tense relationship between Arulean and his mate Lyphnia. If you haven't yet got round to reading this series I highly recommend reading this one first... then quickly moving on to the other three! There is of course drama to be had in these pages and more than one plot line will have you sitting on the edge of your seat longing to know what happens. You will come to believe that dragons are a force of nature. To quote Rajiah, "If we don't look after those weaker than us, then what good are we." Please note I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book
Noah Harris has a way of putting the reader in the pages of his book! The imaginative, descriptive way Noah Harris writes makes the reader almost smell, feel, see and touch each experience. The characters have you hooked from the very first word. The first sentence in this book "Her scales were blood-red against the Orange-stained sky." You feel deep emotional attachment to the characters that compels you to read on. I have read every book by this author but I sense his work is changing, developing and pulling more readers in. There were times in this book that I thought I could fly and with each chapter that I did! Noah Harris gets better and better. He develops well rounded, real and fascinating characters. The way he describes a scene almost places you there and gives a well rounded experience as a reader. Noah Harris takes the reader on a journey that takes you to a place only this author and his books can take you. If Noah Harris is a new author for you then pick up a book. If you enjoy Noah Harris books you will understand what a journey one of his books takes the reader on. I really enjoyed the Sailing deep series and was intrigued by Arulean, Rajiah and Lyphnia. It was fantastic to hear Arulean and Rajiahs story. You should read the Sailing deep series from book one because that will only add to the characters in this book. A gritty plot, well written and developed makes this a quality read and a great experience. As always Noah Harris delivers on his promise to entertain, make you smile, laugh and cry at times through out this book and it's a fantastic journey to take. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.
Hate this book, I hate cheaters, and for one to seduce his sister's mate, and in her home. I hate this story and the main characters
I feel very strongly about cheating and to cheat on her with her own brother and in her own home. Regardless of her attitude, that was her brother and her mate. It is like the messy classless mistress wins . I got one more book in this series and I am NEVER reading another book by this author. Because she wasn't a nice person it made what they did ok. This was an awful read for me.
I really, really liked the story. It wasn't a HEA, more of a HFN, which I'm hoping will have a continuation because really, we need to see 'em babies!! Plus, I think it's unique for a shifter story to not have both MCs end up as mates. So that's different.
A huge five star book! I loved that Noah Harris did a prequel, Book 4, to the ‘Navy Seals Series’. It’s a fascinating read about Arulean Black and Rajiah Bronze past that brought them together as lovers, and what molded Lyphnia into the ‘big bad dragon’.
In Book 3, Uncharted Waters, we know that the couple were lovers but not mated because Arulean as dragon King could not lose his control over his mate and Rajiah’s sister, Lyphnia. She had beautiful blood-red scales in dragon form and was an exquisite beauty in human form. It’s not only her beauty that drew others to her, but a strong, powerful aura that fit a dragon Queen.
The Purge wars not only pushed dragons into hiding, but had also been the down fall of their once loving relationship only to become cold and distant to each other. After the purge Lyphnia had never been the same. Lyphnia was a devious, dangerous person who would not listen to reason as to what was best for her kind, but instead continued on with her pride that dragons were above and beyond all living beings and shifters. It was an outdated outlook for their kind with the many changes that had happened with the human world over the centuries.
When Lyphnia and Rajiah’s mother died, The Great Mother, and the last of the Elders, she had no one to hold her back except for Arulean her mate. He was all powerful over her. Rajiah was by his mother’s side when she passed and had the responsibility to bring her ashes to the valley to be place with her ancestors in the ancient burial chamber deep within the mountain.
That's where Lyphnia and Arulean’s combined powers made the call to all dragons to gather for The Summit – a meeting of all dragons, but only a few select dragon’s would decide the future of their kind. It was a call made after the death of an Elder or times of great need.
While Rajiah traveled with a group of weretiger shifters, one became deathly ill with a dreaded Omega fever. Rajiah leaves the group to fly to the valley for help and promised to return with a healer. In his flight he comes across a large black Alpha dragon that would be able to help carry the weretiger quickly to the valley before he dies.
When the two met, Rajiah explained the situation with persuasive words to help him until he practical demanded the larger alpha that he needed to follow him. He would not back down, not realizing his demands were given to the dragon King himself to help him and his friend.
The two met many years ago but they have not crossed paths since. So, neither knew who the other was at first. When Arulean did help and Rajiah got a closer look at the gorgeous man, it came to light who Arulean was, but Arulean still did not know who Rajiah was. That was until Rajiah made it to the castle and was introduced to Arulean by his sister.
Arulean hadn’t realized that he was unknowingly waiting to meet the young dragon he had encountered and the young man peaked Arulean’s interest and curiosity. He wanted to get to know this beautiful man. Never had Arulean been attracted to anyone since his mating with Lyphnia.
I love the feistiness of Rajiah’s personality and as an omega not letting anyone under mine him when he wanted something or have something done. He was kind and caring towards all shifters and firmly believed it was the dragon’s that could help in providing a safe hiding place to live, away from humans.
With Arulean curiosity and intrigue with the smaller omega, and the more he’s around Rajiah, Arulean learns many lessons and insight about other shifters from the spitfire. Noah wove a beautiful story about the two dragon men and their desire for one another but unfortunately was unable to act on it with Arulean already mated. But as fate has it, the two come together as lovers with help from Arulean’s brother, Gerrald.
The two meet secretly so Lyphnia doesn’t find out, but as the book goes on that becomes something Arulean doesn’t care about who knows their secret. So much happens within the pages of this book that I couldn’t put it down easily when I had to. Then I couldn’t wait to get back to finish it.
Anyone following this series should adore this book. And anyone who hasn’t picked up this series by Noah Harris is missing an exquisite read. Knowing now what I do about our dragon couple, I’m hoping Noah continues on with the next book to bring us even more about Arulean and Rajiah.
What else can I say? Only that I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book and series. Noah’s one of my favorite author’s and I’m always looking forward to reading his next book!

Summary: "I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book."
It wasn't until I was reading this book that it was the back story to set the scene for the series so far.
The struggle for the survival of not only the dragon race, but for all paranormal species began when the human race became strong enough to try and rid themselves of anything that wasn't what they deemed normal. Since the Purge, where Arulean's mate Lyphnia lead many of their race into battle against humanity, dragons have struggled on their own. Now that the last of the elders are gone Arulean, the King Dragon, decided to bring his people together to try and find a way to do more than just survive. Other paranormal races keep arriving to find shelter and safety under Arulean's rule, but other factions, such as Lyphnia, feel that they should just care for their own. Rajiah, Lyphnia's youngest brother, isn't your average dragon because he as an omega prefers his freedom spending time with other shifter species that is until the day he crosses paths with Arulean. In his determination to save his friends life his manner of approaching Arulean is shall we say less than submissive, but to his credit he didn't really recognize who he was. In the end that didn't matter which gained him Arulean's attention. I imagine that Rajiah's brusk behavior was not one that Arulean was used to and it intrigued him. And that is just the beginning to a story that I couldn't put down once I began reading it. The characters took on a life of their own as the story of how the Shadow Pack was finally revealed. The struggle between good and evil is never easy, but as Rajiah stated “If we don't look after those weaker than us, then what goo re we?” That sentence defines the kind of a man Rajiah is and how he could be the Salvation that Arulean doesn't even realize he needs.
**I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review**
It was absolutely wonderful to see Arulean & Rajiah's story where it started rather than just having the small tidbit we got of the end in Uncharted Waters. I was so hoping we'd get it and am so darn happy that we finally have it!
In Dragons Sky we truly see how Dragon King Arulean Black and Rajiah Bronze met and fell in love. We also get a full extent on how deep the hatred and contempt Lyphnia, the Dragon Queen, has against her mate and every species on earth that is not a dragon.
However, if you've read the entirety of the Navy Seal series until know, you'll see this story is not yet over. I assume later on it's going to cross between what we saw in Uncharted waters when Lyphnia finally convinces others to her evil cause and kidnaps Rajiah.
But, again, if you've read the Navy Seal series this far, you're going to love diving into this story that shows the start of Arulean & Rajiah's complicated relationship.
I enjoyed it so much and can't wait to see further into how Rajiah ended up in the predicament he finds himself in when we first encountered him in Uncharted Waters.
If you have yet to read the Navy Seal series, I believe it is okay to start with this one. Though I'm not sure exactly what the next book will cover, I do still suggest that after this one you backtrack and read the first three where I think the second book to this story line will cover/cross over with.
The author in the fourth of the series "Sailing Deep," brought fourth the dragons that were in the other three books in a prequel that left me turning pages as fast as I could. How the author integrated this story to match up with the third book was amazing. Aurlean is the only king left for the dragons after the "Purge." He and his queen command great power, but are on totally opposite sides of the spectrum when it comes to how they will bring the dragonkind into the future. Aurlean only wants peace and to have all shifters to slip into the portals of myth, hiding from humans so they forget them. His queen, however wants only to go back to war, despite the fact that they lost many of their children, family and friends to the Purge. For centuries, they have not had any kind of marital relation with Aurlean only keeping a bond with his wife in order to control her. Rajiah is the Queen's brother and brings sparks into his life, which he tries to deny. There is hot sex, but not so much that it over shadows the story. Noah allows the story to carry itself. This series is so worth reading. I voluntarily read and reviewed this story.
The story, I really liked. A good premise about doing what you want for yourself vs doing what you must for the good of others and the struggle to manage that whilst falling I love. It was engaging, descriptive and I really enjoyed it. I won't rehash the blurb but the characters and world building were built up layer by layer, drawing you in in a measured way that gave the tale depth and a sense of reality.
BUT - I feel like I am left out of some club of all-seeing-all-knowing readers - if you're new to this series then you should know that it looks like book 4 is actually a prequel (??) that explains the concept of books 1-3 (someone help me out here...) with no Navy Seal element whatsoever. The ending seems more a HFN than a HEA but seeing as the book is listed as 4/4 not sure that Arulean and Rajiah's tale will be extended (unless that's set out in books 1-3?), but like I said, I really enjoyed this so I hope it will. Which is a bit of a kicker since their tale finished at 64% - would have preferred more of these two than an extra novella, but hey ho.
Another great story by Noah Harris!! This is the 4th in the series, but a past insight. Dragon shifters have always been a major force in the shifter world, but their numbers have decreased due to wars and the Purge against the humans. Arulean Black, a king of the dragons, has called a summit with all dragon shifters to address the future. One of those dragons is Rajiah Bronze, brother of Arulean's mate, and an Omega. When the two meet sparks fly but Arulean knows he can't do anything about it. Rajiah has never felt like he fit in, staying around other shifters, roaming. His sister is determined to finding a mate for Rajiah, but he has his eye on Arulean. This is their story. An explosive beginning that will change the dragon world forever. Don't miss this one! A great series❤️❤️
MM. Shifters. Rajiah is an Omega dragon without a mate. Not that he has ever wanted one. He spends most of his time with other shifters, not dragons. He does not want to go to the Summit, but he will fulfill his duty, even if he must interact with his sister Lyphnia. Arulean intrigues him more than any Alpha has before, but he is Lyphnia's mate and determined to not take another mate despite her despicable behavior. The background to Arulean and Rajiah's relationship was great to read, but nothing explained why he must remain mated to Lyphnia besides to "control" her. Her 'great' power is only because her position is amplified being married to Arulean. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
Arulean has been the side character that I have been most interested to learn more about in the Sailing Deep series. I wondered why he would have ever mated with Lyphnia as well as why Lyphnia chose to mate with him even though they clearly didn't agree on almost anything.
This book gave us those answers, and they were awesome! Their pairing may never have been a love match, but it is refreshing to see that it didn't start out as poisonous and antagonistic as it became. In addition to the history behind their mating, we also learned how the Shadow Pack was created, and why. I love that from the beginning, it was intended to be a place of safety for all paranormals in a world of increasing human power and intolerance.
So I actually got done with this book a few days ago and have to say I'm still thinking about it. Most in this genre have typos, grammar errors and names flip flopped by mistake. This story has little to none. Nothing horribly noticeable.
The story. Oh yes, the story. I loved it. It didn't move as fast as some books and the character Raijah (forget how to spell it) isn't your cliche shy little bottom. He has personality and a bite to his bark. I really suggest this book for a good read.
I do have one complaint. I NEED MORE!!!! I really would love to see this specific couple continue in another story OR Arulean's brother get his own story and finding a new mate. But this book is great. Go read it!!
This is a kind of prequel to Arulean the dragon king's story. He is struggling to keep control over his mate Lyphniah who he no longer shares anything with. She is headstrong and doesn't want to stay in the shadows. After the last of the elders dies, who is actually her mother, her brother Rajiah brings the ashes to be buried in the dragon crypt. As soon as Arulean meets Rajiah they both feel a strong connection and know that they are intended to be mates but that would mean Arulean letting Lyphniah free and putting all dragons at risk. Arulean faces many decisions but which will be the right one? This is a beautifully written story which transports you away into the fantasyland of drgons and shifters and fills in the blanks in the story of Arulean Black and Rajiah Bronze. Definitely a five star read!
Wow!!! What a great prequel to the MM Sailing Deep series by Noah Harris. I loved getting to see more of Arulean Black and Rajiah Bronze and how they came to be a couple and how the Shadow Pack was formed. The book was well written and had a great storyline. The characters were well developed and loveable, and the chemistry between Arulean and Rajiah was hot and steamy with plenty of build up. I loved that Rajiah knew what he wanted and wasn't afraid to go after it. I can't wait to read more about Arulean and Rajiah and the Shadow Pack. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
After reading the first three books in Navy Seal series, I wrote Mr Harris and asked if he would be writing a book about Arulean, Rajiah & Lyphnia. And did he deliver? HELL YES!!! This is the story I wanted !!!
We met the main characters in the previous books, but Dragon Sky (the 4th in the series) gives us an insight to their relationship. This is the perfect prequel to his Navy Seal series (which I loved).
If you love dragons, then this is the book to read!
I was lucky to receive an Advanced Reader Copy and am voluntarily leaving a review of this book.
Okay easy 5 star plus for this fantastic book. Noah Harris can make you feel for his characters. This one has all the feelings, I loved Arulean and Rajiah in this even if they had to sneak around, Arulean deserved some happiness. Lyphnia was def. not a favorite even with being Arulean's Queen. The tale of a unique story of a dragon shifter book was gorgeous to read. I loved when they met up Rajiah's personality shone through. There were lots of favorite scenes I loved in this book, hiding in the hedges was another fav. Gerald was brilliant in his part in this story too. I'll look forward to sequel...Mr Harris ;) A must read for all, I'm loving this series and Noah's gorgeous stories..
This is the forth book in this series but it’s actually the backstory of how the Shadow Pack was formed. You could really read this book first or as a stand alone but just a warning that there are no Navy Seals in this book despite the subtitle. The meetings about what to do about the relationship between dragon kind and humans forms the basis of this book and shows us the beginning of the relationship between Arulean and Rajiah. This book is definitely not needed to understand the first three books but I must say that I really enjoyed finding out more about the dragons history and the relationship between the two men. A very good book.
I felt like I really connected with Arulean I loved his character he was strong and brave
I felt there with him going through everything with him it was so intense I couldn't put the book down
When you are transported into to one of Noah Harris's worlds you expect hot emotional at times laughter intensity seriousness and you never expect what happens next and this is exactly what you get it keeps you hooked right to the end
I'm looking forward to what we get next
I voluntary reviewed a advanced readers copy of this book
This story was bittersweet, and I hope there is a part 2 that would a better ending. I understand that Arulean has a duty and that's why he wouldn't release his mate bond but its so heartbreaking to watch (well read) him fall in love with Rajiah but can't be with him fully. Rajiah has been in love with Arulean since he was but a child and now that he has grown older his love has only grown stronger. And he not about to let anything or anyone stand in his way, not even his sister Arulean's mate. "I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book."
I knew when we were introduce to arulean he would have an amazing story but nothing prepared me of how amazing his and rajiah story truly was their chemistry was phenomenal and breathtaking and don't get me started on the sex dragons are f...ing awesome I really wanted more my only complain is it was too short would of love to hear about how he got captured and their baby and everything else but maybe Noah might surprise us awesome read❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
OMG Noah has not only gone and done it again. Wow what a brilliant storyline. The relationship between Arulean and his mate. To how the relationship got to were it is and the struggles. Then in comes Rajian who is Arulean's mate's brother. Arulean developes feeling for Rjian but does not act on them for some time. The ending is a surprise. I wonder if there is going to be another story. There is some sort of happy ending. "I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book."
I really enjoy your writing style Noah Harris. On days when I feel downtrodden and like I will never have that thing called love in my life, Stories like yours puts a bit of sunshine in those darken thoughts. Fantasy gave me hope as a child and as an adult I find some joy in stories of wolves, dragons and things that only exist in our minds. Fantastic book with endless romance. The hot sex is a bonus as well 😜
A different look at dragons. A dragon leader linked forever to a female dragon who knows no compassion. A dragon king who must protect the very survival of his fellow dragons. Can he save his dragons, protect other shifters and accept love back into his life?
This was the story I wanted told. We know that Arulean and Rajiah got together. We just didn't know when or how. While this does give us that it also opens the door for more if the author wishes. I have enjoyed every book in this series and look forward to the many re-reads I will do.
