I am an intermediate player and I am playing tennis since I was 10 or so. I will never be a 5.0 player or even a pro, because I only play for fun. But I was able to learn a lot from this book to up my game. Especially around where I should look (at the ball all the way until I notice the position of the racket), how I should approach the hit (by visualizing where I want the ball to land), and how to do cooperative exercise.
I would recommend the book especially to young tennis players who want to learn how to prepare mentally and physically for tennis.
This book taught me some new ideas and ways of looking at the game
- Power of watching the ball on impact - singles strategy and court placement - training tips and ideas
What he says about the recreational level player is so true. Many want that glory shot winner and keep striving for that feel when they rip the ball and win. To be a 5.0 player you need a strategy and a good rally ball
Can you write a book for doubles - i would read it
I liked a clear communication style with emphasis on key fundamentals. Fundamentals that were not the focus of many prior lessons. Excellent visual tracking skill at contact, combined with refinement of one’s neutral rally ball skills, patterns of play, cooperative practice importance, no weak shots; superior consistency; avoiding over training, smart approach to conditioning. What qualities to look for in a teaching pro etc.
Great information, already seeing results. Quite a few typos that can be distracting. Also, the diagrams need to be better illustrated as they are hard to read/understand at times. Would recommend to tennis players.
Very informative. Unique. Some important technique explained. Wonderful discussion of visual discipline. Interesting suggestions on portion of string bed to utilize on different shots and serves.
