Hockey season may be over, but in New York Times bestselling author Sawyer Bennett’s new novel, a Carolina Cold Fury heartbreaker is heating things up off the ice and eager to score with the girl next door.

No one skates like Reed Olson. In the off-season, no one plays like him either. After back-to-back championships, Reed craves a different kind of action. Good thing there’s no shortage of women ready for a summer fling with a sports star. Reed has a specific type—blond, busty, not too bright—and a little black book full of options. But when his bed starts rocking, it’s his unexpectedly sexy neighbor who comes knocking. And the brainy beauty is impossible to ignore.

Josie Ives desperately needs something her celebrity neighbor obviously doesn’t: sleep. His headboard banging against the wall is keeping her up at night—not to mention inspiring some very naughty dreams. Reed is everything she imagined: a little too good-looking, with a body that puts Greek gods to shame. But he’s also funny and charming—a tempting combination. Josie’s the opposite of his type, yet the chemistry between them is undeniable. Their friendship certainly has its benefits, and it’s heating up to be so much more.

“Friends with benefits to the end.”

Reed is the 10th book in Sawyer Bennett’s Cold Fury series. Yes, you read that right. The 10th! I can’t get enough of these books. There is something about them that makes me want to drop whatever I’m doing and read one as soon as it comes out! This was one I was a bit hesitant to read (I wasn’t crazy about the blurb) but once I got into it, it was just as fantastic as the rest!

Reed Olsen is a hockey player for the Cold Fury. His neighbor is an ER doctor who works long shifts. One thing Josie Ives need is sleep. So when Reed starts keeping her up at all hours of the night being inconsiderate, she goes over and gives him a piece of her mind. I loved Josie from the start. I loved her puzzles, her take no crap attitude, and the way she and Reed became friends. They have this pull to one another and once I got into this book, I didn’t want to put it down!

After professing Van, book 9 in this series, as my favorite book in the Cold Fury series (it still is), Reed had a lot to live up to! And after the first few chapters, I gotta tell you, I was nervous. I don’t always love male characters like this. But Reed, he grew on me. I grew to love him! He and Josie were a fantastic match and I adored them together! Reed was deep down a good guy. He was kind, sweet, and a lot of fun. I thought Josie was great as well! I loved her personality and the fact that she was a hard worker and didn’t take any of his bs.
“I don’t know if I can be everything to you, Josie. But I want to be everything that I can possibly be. I want to be exactly what you need.”

This series is a fabulous sports romance series, and I get excited with each new book. After reading about the situation with our next hero, I’m equally excited and terrified to read his book! For those of you who love friends to lovers stories, this is one I highly recommend!

*****4.5 STARS*****
{ARC Generously Provided by Author}

We’re like two people stumbling along a path, not knowing where it’s leading and with a little bit of fear causing us to falter even more. But the excitement is there, knowing the destination could be fucking fantastic, so we keep pulling each other along.

The tenth book in the series focuses on Cold Fury Hockey player, Reed Olson. I’ve really grown attached to this series and romances with Hockey players are one of my weaknesses. This was the first book in the series where not one Hockey game took place. The Cold Fury just won the Stanley Cup. It’s summer and the guys are enjoying the offseason. Reed has got to be the most laid back and sweet-natured player on the team. I developed quite a crush on him. This story is deliciously steamy and low on angst.

Reed has been spending his summer bedding countless blonde bombshells and his sexy antics have caused many sleepless nights for his new neighbor, Josie Ives, whose townhome is adjacent to his. When the feisty brunette shows up on his doorstep and demands that he keep it down with the headboard banging, Reed is amused. After they run into each other a couple more times, Reed starts to seek out Josie’s company. He’s inexplicably drawn to her and the two form an easy friendship.

One thing leads to another and soon Reed and Josie are heating things up between the sheets. They have out of this world sexual chemistry and the fact that they started out as friends only intensifies their connection. But while it's plain to see that these two are made for each other, both Reed and Josie are hesitant to jump into a serious relationship for very different reasons.

Through a natural progression, the relationship starts to move past a casual ”friends with benefits” label and both Reed and Josie start to realize that they've fallen in love. This scares Reed because he’s got a ridiculous notion stuck in his head that he’ll never be able to give Josie everything she deserves. The sudden reappearance of Josie’s ex-boyfriend doesn’t help matters, and deep down Josie is afraid Reed will eventually get bored with her and turn back to his endless string of ”Barbie” look-alikes.

Here are my overall ratings:

Heroe: 5
Heroine: 4
Plot: 4
Angst: 3
Steam: 5
Chemistry Between Hero & Heroine: 4.5

I have to admit, it was nice to get a romance that was low on drama and to have a Hero who was truly a good guy who had enough confidence in himself that he wasn’t constantly flying into jealous rages. You’d think this would have been boring but it wasn’t in the slightest. It was a thoroughly enjoyable read. Looks like this one will be the calm before the storm because the next book promises to be filled with drama and angst!

REED is currently available. Well worth a one-click because Reed is one sexy and swoon-worthy book boyfriend!

"You're it for me."

Reed is the tenth book in the Cold Fury Hockey Series. Reed Olson is another smoking hot Cold Fury Hockey Player who is ready to enjoy his off-season summer. Determined to have as much fun as humanly possible, he is focused on partying with as many girls as possible. When Reed meets his neighbor Josie Ives, his summer plans shift drastically as he finds himself wanting to spend every spare moment he has spending time with her. Josie, a talented doctor, doesn't seem to have much in common with Reed and yet, the two spend the summer making memories and building a lasting love full of passion and romance! However, when an old friend from Josie's past crashes back into her life, will Reed be able to keep the good doctor in his life?

description
"I can feel his body trembling. I can feel the emotion swirling around us, between us, and I fall more in love with him in this moment."
Told in dual POV, Reed is another Cold Fury Hockey winner with complex characters and smoking hot steam. The characters in the Cold Fury Hockey family are funny, down to earth, and loyal to each other. The camaraderie that exists between the players and their women is unforgettable. Each story is unique and I find myself completely enraptured in every single solitary moment. I found the connection between Reed and Josie to be perfect. I loved the fact that a hockey player and a doctor found their HEA! I have become a huge fan of this series and I think it's fair to say that when it comes to these players and this series, I will never get enough!

DNF @ 16% and I so wish I could give this a gazillion minus stars

Hoookaay! In my endeavour to bridge the time until our b-r starts, and giving the intense The Sunne in Splendour a pause, I seem to be grabbing from one shitbucket to another. How I wish I'd chosen to read The Love Experiment or A Girl Like Her. Those were the other options. I'm still not quite sure what the hell went through my head, since I already own both books. I do know, however, that I tend to go through masochistic phases in my choice of books. Here's another one.

I am almost tempted to give Alexa Riley's ridiculous Claimed 2 stars. Almost. Virginlandia it may be, simple it may be, but oh man, it is nothing compared to Reed.

I guess it's known by now that I don't mind sex scenes with other people when the MC's aren't together. So Reed starts with
description
Reed shagging a woman. No problem for me. Nope, not at all. As far as I am concerned, he's a free agent. But there's a reason why I DNF'ed so early into the book. Want to know? It's not a hard one to guess. In fact, I've been complaining about it for ages.

A female author portraying women - who are not in the same 'class' as the heroine and her friends - as brainless, blonde bimbos.
A bead of sweat trickles down my temple as I start to drive deeper.
Harder.
Faster.
Anything to get her to stop talking. How in the fuck she can have coherent thoughts when her ankles are resting on my shoulders is beyond me. I sure as hell can’t think straight. Nothing past getting her off so I can tumble after [...]
“I’m going to Fiji next week,” she tells me in staccato bursts, each word popping out of her mouth to match my thrusts. “You should come with—”
Fuck this.
I pull out, flip her over, and draw her up to her hands and knees [...]
Finally. Her yammering has given way to the sounds of pleasure, and I can get back in the game.

******

Sharp, piercing, eye-watering screams. The type that make me think my ears are bleeding, and I suddenly long for her to start talking again.
This is coming from Reed in the first 3-4 pages. First 3-4 pages, folks! Impressive way of endearing the hero to me...not.

I knew, there and then, that this would end in a DNF, but I read on wanting to meet Josie, the heroine, at least. Josie, the non-blonde, non-bimbo, non-supermodel, classy ER doctor. Because logic demands that supermodel = blonde, brainless bimbo, right? Here's what Josie, who is not happy about being woken up by a wallbanging headboard, has to say:
She points a finger at the woman clinging to my back. “You can put a muzzle on Screaming Barbie there."

******

“Since meeting you two weeks ago when I had to ask you to muzzle Screaming Barbie, I’ve seen a revolving door of them. Let’s see…there was Carbie Barbie, who was so skinny I bet she only eats lettuce. And then Fashionista Barbie, who looked like she walked off the pages of Vogue, and then—”

*******

Barbie holds out a bottle of suntan lotion to Reed as she cheerily says, “Can you put some on me?”
Reed pushes up from the chair and takes the bottle. “I thought you’d already put this on at the house.”
“I was going to,” she says in a light, fluffy voice that is sugary and sweet and breathy all at the same time. “But the bottle said for external use only, so I figured I better wait until we get out here.”
My jaw drops and my eyes slide over to Reed. His gaze cuts to mine, and although his facial muscles hardly twitch, I can see the effort he makes not to laugh.
And I'm like

Really? I mean it. How much self-hatred and stereotyping is being hammered into us that a female author can get away with this shit? Honestly, before we even attempt to make men aware of the daily sexism women endure and fight against, we should have a good hard look at this example of internalised misogyny.

This author is doing the job for all those men who scoff at us, call us 'raging feminists' which I am happy to be in their eyes and don't take sexism seriously. I know she's not the only one. I know that very well. But hey, doing really good there. No, seriously.

I almost feel like time travelling back to my early CR days where I was new to them and didn't know any better. But this will teach me to be afraid of the hype some books cause, like the ones I mentioned above. There's a reason why a ton of my GR friends loved them, and even though I may end up not liking them as much, I doubt very, very, very much that they could be as awful as Reed.

Refunded, of course. Though, I had to call Amazon and ask for it, as this was the second book within a week that I wanted to give back. The lady on the phone was funny, though: 'You don't seem to be lucky in your choice of books lately.' No, I am merely in my masochistic phase again.

This trope of the heroine hearing/seeing the hero having sex has been done a few times. Besides being very unappealing and a turn off, it's also gross and I don't like women being so degrading. Because h/H will get together . Ewwww. The blurb killed the story, imo

4 Finding Someone of Substance Stars
* * * *Spoiler Free-It's Live!!!
As a huge fan of the Cold Fury Series by Sawyer Bennett, I have noticed the books have a way of some having more intense story lines than others. It mixes the pace up and allows each of the players be their distinct person. I felt this entry was one where we had a solid character realize he was missing something with all of the casual Puck Bunnies he "enjoyed". This story had us seeing his world turned upside down with his meeting his new neighbor.

Reed is coming off another win of the Stanley Club. The team is on break and Reed's only plans seem to be "enjoying" his Blond, Busty Friends and chilling. Yet somehow he is not really feeling all of this "dating" he is doing...Oh he has made sure the interchangeable women were taken care of... But his lifestyle has lost its luster.

Josie is an ER Dr. and needs her sleep. Being woken by the banging headboard of her neighbor is not going to continue. She goes to his door and knocks until he answers. Josie is the exact opposite of all the women Reed goes for... but watching this feisty pistol of a woman telling him to get his playmate to stop screeching so she can get some sleep makes him take a cold hard look at what he has been doing. He apologizes in a friendly way and sends his loud visitor home.

Over the course of a few days, Reed sees Josie around the pool and they happen to strike up a very comfortable conversation. Josie is direct with Reed and teases him about his array of interchangeable "Barbies"...

Josie feels comfortable joking and teasing Reed as she has no interest in him. She can just speak her mind freely without judgement...well, there is a little judgement and as she gets to know Reed better...she realizes she may have judged him too quickly.

For Reed has seen the real Josie and is sort of in awe... She is this incredibly hard working doctor, saving lives and making a difference in the world every day. The more Reed is around her, the more he wants to be around her and he makes sure this happens....

He brings her pizza after her shifts... He makes sure she is able to relax and settle down so she can get her sleep...and all of this hanging out starts to lead to something else... and the both of them start spending a lot of time together... crossing some lines and feelings.

These two have a confused idea about what is happening... He thinks he may not be enough for her...and she needs to understand she is what he wants without doubting herself. A conflicts happens... and then the realization of what each means to each other...

Reed was a man in transition from being the usual guy... enjoying those who presented themselves to him...This sports star lifestyle lends itself to this type of behavior and can get very old once the star sees the shallowness of it all. Reed had all the underlying qualities of a stand up fella and he showed them with Josie. Josie had the intelligence to overcome a past heartbreak... in her own way and with Reed's care... she started to feel like she was her own person again.

This couple's chemistry was right on and the banter worked so well. Laughter and then Steam is always a great combination.

The Cold Fury Series always has something to offer and this was another entry which allowed the reader to see a Hockey Relationship from the inside out.

I really enjoyed this book! It probably comes as no surprise to anyone that follows my reviews that I love this series. I jumped into the series with the second book and have looked forward to each new book. I have yet to be disappointed. I decided to listen to the audio this time around since I wasn't sure when I would have the chance to sit down and actually read the book. This audiobook ended up being such a wonderful experience for me.

This book is all about Josie and Reed. Their meeting at the start of the book was not at all what I would have expected and I really wasn't sure how it would play out. Let me tell you that this book takes Josie and Reed from annoyed neighbors to friends to much more than friends with ease. I loved their journey and thought that they really seemed to work well with each other. They are playful with each other and really just enjoy each other's company. I thought that the chemistry between them was very well done.

I loved the characters in this book. Josie is an emergency room doctor so she is used to making tough decisions. She really is a down to earth character that likes simpler things like beer and pizza more than anything else. Reed is just a nice guy. He is in his off season so he is a bit more relaxed and has plenty of free time. At the start of the book, he is dating a string of Barbies but is quickly distracted by his neighbor. I liked how Reed just seemed to know what to do with Josie and I loved how they trusted and respected each other.

I believe that this was my first experience in listening to both Graham Halstead and Cris Dukehart. The book is told from both Reed and Josie's point of view in alternating chapters and I liked the fact that two narrators were used. I thought that they both did a fantastic job with the narration and really made each of the characters come to life. I think that they both did a great job handling all of the character voices and emotions of the story. I definitely plan to look for more of their work in the future.

I highly recommend this book to fans of contemporary romance. This was the tenth book in the Cold Fury Hockey series but it could easily be read as a stand alone since it does tell its own story. We do get a bit of a peek into what is going on in Marek's life in this book and I must say that I am really eager to get my hands on his book in just a few short months.

Initial Thoughts
It comes as no surprise that I enjoyed this book. I have liked all of the books in the series that I have read so far so it was a pretty safe bet for me. Since I wasn't able to get my hands on an ARC for this one, I decided to grab the audio version from the library. I thought it was well done. The initial meeting between Reed and Josie was a little strange but I liked them together more and more as the book progress. I thought that the narrators did a great job. There was enough about Marek in this book to really get me excited for the next one in the series as well.

So far Reed is the worst one out of this series. The moral story is good and promising. But the execution is bad. Characters are pretty much 1 dimensional. No chemistry, no character development.

The attraction seems forced between Reed and Josie. Even their date is dry and uninteresting. I managed to finish listening to the audiobook. It was short reading.

We're back with the hotties from the Carolina Hockey team!

The season is over - they won the Cup again!
And now Reed has the whole summer in front of him. And nothing planned but having fun with some casual sex. His favorite kind of hook-up is the Barbie type. Lots of boobs, not too much brain.

And on one of those Barbie nights he meets his new neighbor Doctor Josie.

She knocks on his door to tell him that his Barbie should try to be a bit quieter in the throes of passion!

And that little encounter in the middle of the night turns strangers Josie and Reed into very good friends. They suddenly spend all their free time together having fun and doing puzzles and eating and going out. But only as friends - even though both are very attracted to the other. But they're also SO not each other's type ... or are they? Could they be? Will they? Won't they? And what happens when her ex is suddenly back in town?

WHAT WiLL HAPPEN TO JOSiE & REED????
WiLL THERE BE A HAPPiLY EVER AFTER?
READ THE BOOK TO FIND OUT! ☺☺☺

A new book in this adorable Hockey series. YAY!

REED!!!

This is not much of a hockey romance - the season is over.
But it's a really cute romantic comedy! A friends to lovers thingy.

I really enjoyed reading it.
I laughed and swooned. Reed is so adorable and romantic and ... really sweet & hot & amazing!

And Dr. Josie is just as adorable. They're perfect together - they just need a little time to figure it out themselves!!! ☺

Some might say the wallbanging thing mentioned in the blurb has been romance-noveled one too many times, but pfff, it's just a fun way for them to meet - and to tell their grand-kids about one day. It didn't bother me at all. And I LOVED Wallbanger by Alice Clayton! ☺

And oooooh - almost forgot!!! We also meet Reed's co-Fury-buddy Marek - and I can't wait to read his story next. He will have to fight really hard for his happily ever after!!!

I had some problems with the writing...as with every Sawyer book. It's Sawyer's and my THING ☺ It's only me who has those problems with her writing. So please don't be worried or just scroll down and don't read the following...
I have a HUGE AS problem! ☺ You know the AS's I'm talking about? The AS that could/should be exchanged for a SINCE or a BECAUSE or just a comma/dot/pause/whatever.☺ It's a British and or legal thing (if it's a thing at all!) and it doesn't have anything to do in an American book by an American author. I would be ok with it if one (British) character would use it, but everyone uses it! I really don't want to insult Sawyer. I love her books, but ... please stop doing it. But pfff who am I to tell her what to do, so just forget I said anything! It doesn't stop her books from being great!

R E E D was another super-adorable, sexy & funny addition to this great hockey series! Run to your nearest amazon for your own REED - this one is MINE!!!!!

... and now hurry Sawyer - I want MAREK asap!!!!!

A girl next door romance that made me smile, smile, smile!

You would think by now, after nine book in the series already, that I would be bored of the Cold Fury boys and their shenanigans. NOTHING could be farther from the truth! They are a team, a family, with each story intertwining their lives yet offering something new each and every time. I’ve been waiting for Reed’s story and it was all things adorable… and hot… and fun…

I LOVED how Reed and Josie met! Nothing like a confrontation to get the blood – and the conversation – going. It didn’t play out quite like I would have thought yet this first meeting was hilarious and opened the door for so much goodness to come…

Reed is a self-proclaimed manwhore. He wasn’t ashamed of it and was looking forward to reveling in it all summer long. Enter the girl next door who was going to challenge every thought he had on the opposite sex, and how he viewed them…

“…and as much as I’d like to say we’re just friends, the truth is I don’t want to be just friends with her.”

Their story was romantic and incredibly hot. Turn up the fan, grabby hands all over, HOT! And if that was their focus, all the other stuff – friends stuff –snuck up on them while they were, um, busy. And a sneak attack of the feels as well! It was a slow burn. It was a lovers to friends story to savour.

“Like toe curling, mind blowing, and I’m ruined for any other type of sex.”

If the ending was a bit quiet for me, a bit hidden in the deliciousness of Marek’s story yet to come, Josie and Reed’s romance delivered exactly what I was hoping for – book happiness!

“It’s just… love.”

Marek and Gracen are up next and I can’t wait. CANNOT. WAIT! ~Diane, 4.5 stars

This is the tenth book in this series and so far I have enjoyed every one of them...that's pretty impressive !!

The blurb of this one reminded me a bit of   "'The Wallbanger" so I was pretty curious.

Reed, another Cold Fury hockeyplayer, has been very busy keeping his next door neighbour up, with his antics.

Afbeeldingsresultaat voor wallbanging gif

Josie is a doctor, and if there is one thing she needs, it's sleep, which she isn't getting. Being fed up with his behavior, she goes over to rip him a new one ;) Out of this event the unexpected grows....a beautiful friendship... And we all know what happens to friends :P

Reed is quite impressed with Josie. He loves spending time with her and soon that's all he is doing.

I like a good "friends to lovers" story and I am also a big fan of a former "player" being reformed by a smart and kickass heroine. Another wonderful addition to the series !!

"I'm seeing Josie through unfiltered eyes and I like everything that I'm seeing."

I don't pretend to NOT be a Sawyer Bennett fan. I have read all of her books. I have loved them all. She is just that author for me. In general, she is an easy getaway; a guaranteed good read for me each time. You can go into this review with that knowledge, but please understand.....her words are worthy and I am speaking from the heart when I say this was such a good read. I enjoyed this one very much!

For being the tenth book in a series about Hockey Players, you would think this machoism would be boring by now, right? Played out, easily, right?! Well....no. Not this time. For my favorite sports series, Sawyer Bennett has made each book individually captivating, yet perfectly suited for an ongoing series. I love this series. Love it. So it's no secret that this book will leave me smiling in my review. One thing I want to point out is the ease in which she transitions from friends to lovers; it was effortless. I couldn't help but smile the entire time I was reading this story, all while they were letting their guard down and falling for each other. I loved this part of it!

This one was a little sweeter, a little softer hitting than the others, though. But, don't get me wrong. Reed was ALL man and divinely sexy, but I loved that his insecurities were actually recognized and REAL. Was he a manwhore? Well, yes....he's a freaking hockey player that just won his second championship. Did we see these man-whorish ways....again, yes. We have to set up the story, right? But, a rehab’d playboy? Sounds cliché, doesn’t it? Well, leave it it SB to make this story a little more in depth; a little deeper when it comes to the heart! Because she did one helluva job on it too. I loved seeing this change in him; his own realizations that she is worth more than just a one night stand. I cannot tell you how much I loved reading that side to his story.

How do you change your image from playboy to a worthy man in a relationship? How do you convince her she's the one to change you? When it's so cliché, how exactly do you convince her? I realize this trope can be cliché, but the way Sawyer Bennett endears us to her characters, it sure makes it easier. Basically, when she makes her characters so relatable and makes us fall in love with the real man that they are, not just the outward appearances he chooses to share publicly, but the real him, we fall in love harder, faster, and deeper. Pun intended?

Ahem....and the setup for Marek's story was ON POINT!!! Make sure to add this one to your TBR or PREORDER it.

"No particular cadence. no metaphorical rhyme or physical reason why it feels so good. It's just. . . love."

4 Josie and Reed Stars

I am a Carolina Cold Fury addict and I cannot see me recovering any time soon. Nor do I want to. I devour every book in this series, some I prefer to others but I have enjoyed every single one.
Reed Olsen is one of the good guys. He's a hot hockey player who loves pretty girls and no strings sex. He usually opts for the 'Barbie' type until a pretty, sassy, smart & dry humoured ER Doctor moves in next door. She isn't interested in his money and pro Hockey athlete status. But she does like hanging with him and being friends. And soon they're friend's with some seriously HOT and heavy benefits.

I liked how Reed had to do the pursuing and I loved Josie's backbone but we still see her vulnerability.

Sweet story with excellent secondary characters.

HEA? Yes
Cheating? No (She has an awful kiss with her ex but it works within the plot and it proved a point)

Finally, just saying, OMG.....I NEED MAREK''S BOOK NOW!!!!!

"Reed" by Sawyer Bennett is a super cute, fun, and swoony romance that adds a delightful twist to the Cold Fury series. The blurb might give off a typical sports romance vibe, but the story surprises with its heartwarming journey of friendship, love, and self-discovery.

Reed Olson, the hockey superstar, is a guy used to playing the field, both on and off the ice. But when he meets his new neighbor, Josie, his life takes an unexpected turn. What starts as a purely physical attraction soon deepens into a genuine emotional connection.

"Reed" masterfully portrays a friends-to-lovers narrative, with Reed's character breaking away from the stereotypical womanizer role. He's sweet, sensitive, and thoroughly endearing.

Josie, the brainy beauty next door, is a standout character. She's smart, funny, and a dedicated ER doctor. Her character adds depth to the story, making it a refreshing departure from the typical sports romance leading ladies.

Sawyer Bennett's writing style, with dual points of view and present-tense narration, immerses readers in the characters' emotions and experiences. The story's pacing is just right, allowing for the characters' development to unfold naturally.

The inclusion of characters from the Cold Fury Hockey series and the budding friendship between Josie and Sutton add to the story's authenticity and future promise.

In conclusion, "Reed" is a super cute, fun, and swoony addition to the Cold Fury series. It's an engaging friends-to-lovers tale with charming characters that will warm your heart. If you're looking for a lighthearted, sexy, and thoroughly enjoyable romance, this book is a must-read. You'll swoon, smile, and find yourself fully engaged in Reed and Josie's love story.

Reed was Sawyer Bennett’s tenth book in her Cold Fury Hockey series. She created another unique and successful addition to the series.

Reed Olson was a gorgeous NHL player for the Carolina Cold Fury and he just won the coveted Stanley Cup....twice. He had his supply of human barbies for any sexual needs and his life couldn’t be better. And then he met his neighbor.

Josie Ives was Reed’s new neighbor that was sexy, an ER doctor and not Reed’s typical type. She was smart, funny and even snarky at times. The banter between Reed and Josie was humorous and fun.

I loved both characters, not only their personalities, but how they approached each other. No spoilers here, but the process was fun and realistic as well as the range of emotions expressed by each.

All in all, it was a quick, fun and cute read. Bennett also provided a bonus with a huge teaser for Marek’s story. It promises to be emotional and filled with an abundance of drama. Bring it on!

In the off season after back to back championships with the NHL, Reed Olson is craving a different kind of action that includes plenty of hot sex with a line of tall, busty blondes in his bed. That is until he meets his neighbor Josie Ives a beautiful intelligent doctor who works long hours and is the total opposite to Reed's normal type of woman. Becoming friends they enjoy sharing each others company until the chemistry between them causes them to start sharing a bed as well. I really loved this book, Reed is so sweet, funny and very charming and an easy character to get lost in, they are both very lovable characters and the story line is so relaxed and comfortable. Lots of hot sex now I am looking forward to Merrick's story.

*I received a free copy of [title] from [publisher] via Netgalley. This has in no way influenced my voluntary review, which is honest and unbiased *Reed was possibly the best of the Cold Fury Hockey stories... I just loved his and Josie's relationship, how they were friends first, and then wanted more.

Review - (un)Conventional Bookviews
Story:
The blurb of Reed does not bring the story justice. Reed is such a sensible character, and while he's been playing the field with his 'barbies' until now, he is not a total womanizer. Once he meets his new neighbour, Josie, he realises that his life might not be as full as he thought up until now.

I have such a love for friends to lovers stories, and that's exactly what I got with Reed. At first the two characters were a bit tentative, but little by little they became close friends. Because they appreciated hanging out together, and thanks to the chemistry between them, the next step seemed evident. However, it was not all easy for either of them.

Other characters from Cold Fury Hockey were present at times as well, and I enjoyed the easy banter between the players. There was also a budding friendship between Josie and Sutton, which I hope there will be more of in the next books in the series.
Characters:
Reed was not a character I expected to love as much as I did. He went through one-night-stands rather quickly, so when he changed his tune, he was tentative and a bit unsure of himself.

Josie was nothing short of amazing. Smart. Funny. A bit nerdy. And an ER doctor to boot.
Writing style :
Reed is written in dual points of view, with chapters from either his or her perspective. The present tense made me feel like I was right there with them for all of their special moments.
Feels :
All the feels! I just feel like a romance is even better when it's a friends to lovers story. There is a solid foundation for the love, and it makes my toes curl in happiness.

Fave Quotes - (un)Conventional Bookviews

I chuckle and take a sip of my beer. It's totally drilled home, and yes, I already knew it. But Kathy Krantz proved to me that physical beauty provides that immediate attraction, but it can be completely eradicated if your insides don't match your outside.

The doors to the elevator open up to the lobby, and I laugh at our easy bantering, knowing deep in my heart that there's something underneath all this friendly ribbing.

“I want to be exactly what you need.”

What can I say? You can NEVER go wrong with a Cold Fury Hockey novel by Sawyer Bennett! It’s Reed’s turn and man, did he set the pages on fire with this one, or what?! Both Reed and Josie were so magnetic in Bennett’s latest installment of the SEXY sports romance series. This must read romance is a friends-to-lovers slow-burn romance that left me with a HUGE SMILE on my face.

The chemistry between the two main characters is definitely one of the main reasons why I would categorize REED as a not-to-miss sexy and emotional romance! They start off as friends, even though there is an undercurrent of lust between Reed and Josie. Their connection is sweet and sexy and between their banter and the fact that they are so comfortable around one another, made this romance EASY to fall into.

Funny, sexy, charming, emotional - I couldn’t have asked for a better happily ever after for these two stubborn lovebirds. With each new character Ms. Bennett brings into the mix, I seem to fall even harder than the one before. On point writing, engaging and emotional storylines, charismatic and unforgettable characters - I can’t seem to EVER get enough of this woman’s brand of sexy storytelling!

Sooo good, so sweet, so hot, with no real conflict or big manufactured drama. I loved hockey star Reed and doctor Josie.
Only one thing marred the perfection of this story: no epilogue. I was left hanging just a bit. Hopefully their story will continue a bit in the next book as the Cold Fury try for a three-peat. Can they do it? 4 1/2 stars

ARC received for an honest review

Woohoo, time to head back to North Carolina and spend some time with the hockey hotties from the Cold Fury.

Reed is a very sweet, very cute friends to FWB to more story that I read in one evening.

Ms Bennett had me laughing in the first chapter (hello Screaming Barbie) and the wallbanging moments, and I was hooked from then on.

I adore Reed and Josie. From their first interactions I just loved their banter. The chemistry between our lovelies was off the charts, and I couldn't help but need them to be more.

I love Reed's banter with his team mates. We don't get much hockey in this one - hey, they boys need a break after winning Sir Stanley - however we still do get most of the lads and their ladies. I love love loved getting more of where Alex and Sutton were at in particular (oh, it seems so long ago that we were introduced to them!)

What I particularly liked was that that there was no drama for drama's sake. Did Reed and Josie have their problems? Sure, who doesn't. But they acted like adults and sorted their sh!t out!

I have said that a few books ago the quality in this series had disappointingly dropped (to me anyways) so it is great to say that Reed is up there with the best of the series.

We have great set up for the next book, Marek. Oh boy, this is going to be a story and a half. Is it May yet?

Bring it on Ms Bennett, bring it on!

Reed, book 10 in Sawyer Bennett’s Carolina Cold Fury series, is a friends to lovers story that features Bennett’s fast paced, engaging style, but one that left me empty. While I liked Josie, Reed wasn’t hero material and in a book with little substance, I think that, deep down, the author knew it.

I really like Sawyer Bennett. I gobble up her books. The last book I read in this series, Lucas, is one of my favorites of hers. But Reed, the book and the character, fall short. When I read a romance, conflict is key. It’s the journey that makes the story and the journey in Reed is short, the road well paved. Josie and Reed share a cute friendship that becomes more and it’s nice. They hang out and Reed figures out he doesn’t need to be a manwhore. It’s nice. Josie likes that Reed’s a celebrity and that he takes care of her. It’s nice. They have a lot in common… it’s nice. Even the return of Josie’s ex is nice as he sees she’s happy and backs off.

And, Reed is just not a romance hero. He’s really kind of a beta douche that gets lucky when he meets Josie. He starts the book by allowing Josie to make fun of the woman he’d just had sex with and it wasn’t nice. A guy who can have so little respect for a woman he’s intimate with doesn’t respect himself. He never really feels bad for that behavior… and yuck.

The best part of the book is the set up for Marek, the next book in the series. I was much more excited about that and can’t wait for a chance to read it. 2 Stars for Reed. Heat Level: 3.5

I had so much fun with the story and I liked our heroine.
The hero learns throughout the story that he needs something more in his life and that a woman with a brain makes all the difference.
The dialogues between the two are very good and I had a good laugh.
I recommend!

“Blond, tall, big boobs.”

Screaming Barbie
Carbie Barbie
Fashionista Barbie
Ditzy Barbie

“So I’m celebrating our Stanley Cup win.”
“Oh,” I say in understanding as I nod my head. “Then I guess burning through all of Raleigh’s Barbies is a good goal.”

“Well, I had a date with Porn Star Barbie today, but just wasn’t feeling it.”
“Just kidding,” he says with a laugh. “It was actually Catholic School Girl Barbie, but frankly, knee socks and those dorky little black shoes really aren’t my thing.”

“He was totally checking you out inappropriately,” Reed says adamantly, and I’m warmed clear to my toes when he adds, “You got the whole Hot Doctor Barbie thing going on today.”

“I just want you to know that you’re not like my Barbie squad. I’ll take it slow if you want.”

“He had a type and I watched them come and go from his place. Let’s see…there was Screaming Barbie, and Ditzy Barbie, and Fashionista Barbie. Oh, and Carbie Barbie.”

“Really, Reed? You waited all of twenty hours for me to be gone and now you’re hooking up with another Barbie? And by the looks of it, you are now onto Business Barbie. So fucking typical.”
Stacy’s head swivels to look at me and she mouths the words Business Barbie?

Reed by Sawyer Bennett is such a good read!
The storyline is well written, easy to follow and hard to put down!

I loved Reed and Josie together, they're likable characters that I easily connected with while watching them fall in love.
These two appear to be such opposites, one looking for a good time right now and not worrying about tomorrow and the other is head down, serious and giving her all to her job.
But the more time they spend together, we get to see they might not be as opposites as they first appear. They both have a big heart, they're passionate, giving and honest people who find comfort and love when they least expect it.
Love wasn't something they were looking for but how can you not follow your heart when you find that person who just gets you?
Reed and Josie made me smile, they made me laugh with their banter and they made me swoon with their love story.
I truly had a great time reading their story.

Reed was such a sweet romance. I'm always surprised when I see how Sawyer Bennett always makes me want to read more and more books she writes. It's maybe one of the few authors I know I always get back to no matter what.
Some stories works better than other but there's always a different journey, always a different vibes to the story she tells. Some are kinky, she is more daring with each book and some are just plain old good romance.

Reed is the 10th book in the Cold Fury and I think I'll never get enough of these boys. The vibes with so many books in a series is always high and having news fro Alex and even Garrett thrilled me the same each time.

What I enjoyed about this one was how Reed was easy going. Light on the drama, what could have been an issue or cause trouble didn't and I was gladly surprise with how the turn the story took. Several times I thought I had it all figured it out but it was in fact the opposite.
Josie was a great character and while I thought these two wouldn't be a great match, Sawyer Bennett showed me that the differences can bring them together and still makes an incredible chemistry.

Now I need to try to find the patience within me for Marek's book! The ending and what's happening in Reed makes me want to scream! At the moment I don't know if I'm beyond mad at Marek for being such a jerk or a complete idiot for the way he acts.
