Billionaire Ian Shaw can have everything he wants--except a happy ending. Or at least that's what it feels like with his fortune recently liquidated, his niece, Esme, still missing, and the woman he loves refusing to speak to him. In fact, he doubts she would date him even if they were stranded on a deserted island.

Despite her love for Ian, Sierra Rose knows he has no room in his life for her as long as the mystery of his missing niece goes unsolved. The only problem is, Sierra has solved it, but a promise to Esme to keep her whereabouts secret has made it impossible to be around Ian.

When the PEAK chopper is damaged and Sierra lacks the funds to repair it, Ian offers a fundraising junket for large donors on his yacht in the Caribbean. But the three-day excursion turns into a nightmare when a rogue wave cripples the yacht and sends the passengers overboard. Shaken up and soaked to the bone, Ian finally has a chance to test his theory when he and Sierra do indeed find themselves washed up on a strange, empty shore.

It will take guts and gumption for the PEAK team to rescue the duo. But it will take a miracle to rescue Ian and Sierra's relationship.

I can't help be amazed at the gifts God has delighted me with - a wonderful husband, four amazing children, and the opportunity to write for Him.

I've been writing as long as I can remember - I won my first book writing contest in first grade! Over the years, writing has become, for me, a way to praise God and see Him at work in my life.

Although I have a degree in Mass Communications from the University of MN, my real writing experience started when I penned the The Warren Report - a bi-monthly newsletter that detailed our ministry highlights.

Living in Russia meant I never lacked for great material - and those experiences naturally spilled out first into devotionals and magazine articles and finally into my first published story, "Measure of a Man," in the Tyndale/HeartQuest, Chance Encounters of the Heart anthology.

Susan and husbandI grew up in Wayzata, a suburb of Minneapolis, and became an avid camper from an early age. My favorite fir-lined spot is the north shore of Minnesota - it's where I met my husband, honeymooned and dreamed of living. The north woods easily became the foundation for my first series, The Deep Haven series.based on a little tourist town along the shores of Lake Superior. I have to admit - I'm terribly jealous of Mona, the heroine of my first full-length book, Happily Ever After, a Christy Award Finalist published in 2004 with Tyndale/Heartquest.

Our family moved home from the mission field in June 2004 -- and now we live in the beautiful town I'd always dreamed of! God has amazed me anew with His provision, and blessings -- and allowed me a season when I can write full time for Him.

I 'm delighted you've stopped in to visit. My hope is that you'll be blessed and encouraged by soul-stirring stories of regular people interacting with a God who loves them.

I'd love to hear from you! I love getting mail, especially from readers and I welcome your questions and comments. Write to me at susan@susanmaywarren.com. And, if you're interested, sign up for my newsletter, a quarterly sneak peek into upcoming releases and projects. Thank you for your interest and support.

God Bless and Happy Reading!

So. Much. Angst. I loved that Sierra and Ian finally got their happy ending! It was in the prequel novella that their relationship was introduced and they have had ups and downs in the three books since. They have definitely been put through the wringer, and Troubled Waters is no exception. Their feelings are strong yet they haven't communicated with each other in a year or so, and building trust again is awkward and painful. I liked their experiences on the island since their guard and walls were finally down and they relied on each other for strength and support, including faith.

The other relationship this book focused on was Jess and Pete's, another one that has spanned across the last couple books... and still doesn't get completely resolved, although they made some headway in communication. I think this book was bogged down a bit by the relationship drama because these two couples have so much time lapsing between their hot and cold phases. The first three books have a relationship introduced and resolved with a HEA (happily-ever-after) within their pages, so in comparison this one felt different. Also with the main emergency and rescue happening in tropical waters instead of the mountains gave it a different vibe. That's not necessarily a bad thing, since switching up the setting brings variety, but I do prefer the mountains and seeing the PEAK team in their element. Overall, a crazy adventure and plenty of romance! I love this series and can't wait for more!

I have long been a fan of Susan May Warren and will read anything with her name on the cover. She has, in this 4th book in her Montana Rescue series, completely outdid herself. Knocked it out of the proverbial ballpark, so to speak. I finished with tears streaming down my face. One of the things I love so much about Warren's books is the powerful spiritual messages she includes. It's like a precious sermon, God speaking to your heart, helping you to grow in your own walk with Christ. She is amazing at that and it's truly a blessing.

This book, Troubled Waters, is the long-awaited conclusion to Ian and Sierra's story. Fans have been rooting for them for a very long time, waiting for their story to finish. Ian fired Sierra from her job as his personal assistant after kissing her when he learned she'd lied to him about his missing niece. A year has passed and both Ian and Sierra just can't seem to get each other out of their minds. But it seems as if there is a giant wall between the two of them. Then the PEAK rescue is about to go under and Sierra decides to do a fundraiser. The three day excursion she plans aboard Ian's yacht with wealthy clients turns into a nightmare when a rogue wave washes the passengers overboard, leaving Ian and Sierra scrambling for survival. Will a huge secret keep them apart when they both want to be together forever?

Readers get more of Pete and Jess's story here, too, and it's heartbreaking. I love how Warren always includes characters from her previous books in her stories. I've grown to love all these folks! And we know there are more stories to come also. She combines faith, danger and relentless romance in a powerful way.

Warren has a way of developing characters that is totally unique to her, making them seem real enough to leap off the page right into her readers' hearts. Parts of this book broke my heart, made me weep as I watched characters struggle, both with their own lives, their heartbreaks and their walk with God. Each book has a powerful theme.

We have grown accustomed to Warren's rescue stories, both with fire and snow; now she takes us to the high seas and what a ride it is! I was completely captivated by this tale. She knows how to tell a tale well indeed. We come away with a sense of knowing that everything we do is a choice, a choice to trust, to have faith, and to allow God to take the reins, even during the troubled waters of life. I was sad to close the cover on this book. But I know the joy of awaiting the next two books!

Oh, my, the drama! Honestly, if this had been the first book of the series, I might have not minded...but I read these books for the survival tales, the rescues—not the recurring emotional angst. Emotional angst gets me tired, so it really did damper my enjoyment of an otherwise well-written book.

I think my main issue with this series is that years are passing and no one is maturing much. People get together and break up and date other people and long for the one true love and get back with the one true love and argue and break up....it's starting to feel like high school all over again. So while the book is interesting and good, I am just so ready for this team to learn how to talk to each other and communicate like grown-ups.

The action starts at about the halfway point and I grew much more invested in the story. The rescue depended heavily on some improbable happenings, though, so it didn't ultimately end in raising my rating.

Another hit in the "Montana Rescue" series by Susan May Warren! I have been loving these novels and was eager to read Troubled Waters. It was even more eventful than I anticipated and I was glued to the pages of the book (actually my Kindle screen, but it's really the same thing). ;)

One thing I loved about Troubled Waters (and the whole series) was how the story wasn't just about one thing -- there were several different story lines. You had Ian and Sierra's story, a subplot about Jess and Pete, and then the whole drama regarding Esme. It made for an entertaining read and I never got bored.

All in all, Troubled Waters was fantastic! I recommend it and look forward to reading Storm Front (book #5).

Troubled Waters is the brilliant and adventure-filled fourth book in the Montana Rescue series. Just like its three predecessors and the other novellas in this wonderful series, Troubled Waters combines some seriously epic misadventures, brave men and women who run headlong into disasters to rescue others, and long-awaited romance.

When billionaire Ian Shaw started PEAK Rescue he had no idea just how much it would change his life. But now his fortune has been liquidated, his niece is still missing, and Sierra Rose has walked out of his life (albeit after he fired her). When the PEAK helicopter crashes and needs serious funding for repair, Ian and Sierra join together once more to host a fundraiser on Ian's yacht. Three days together might just be enough to save their friendship, if they can survive the sea that suddenly turns treacherous.

Finally, finally, we fortunate readers have Ian and Sierra's story. This is the romance for which we (or at least I) have been waiting, ever since the very first prequel novella in the series gave us a glimpse into the possibility of Ian and Sierra. Since then, together and apart, they have faced heartbreak, misfortune, and collapsed houses, watched friends and family fall in love, and continued their search for answers.

For Sierra, there really isn't any one with whom she would rather be stranded on a deserted island than Ian Shaw (except maybe Bear Grylls). Finally alone together as they face the elements and the unfolding tragedy, she and Ian have the chance to confess their true feelings. But there are still secrets to be revealed and they threaten everything. The romance is everything and more. Slow burning chemistry, a shared history, a foundation of friendship; watching Ian and Sierra finally confess their feelings was wonderful and totally worth the wait.

As with the previous books in this series, there are multiple storylines unfolding at once. As Sierra and Ian's story has been continued in books one to three, so Troubled Waters progresses Jess and Pete's story. I really fell for Pete in this book. He lays his heart on the line, risks it all, and is man enough to give Jess exactly what she needs. Their story is sure to be continued in book five, Storm Front, which will feature Ty and Brette's story.

I highly recommend that readers read the Montana Resuce series in chronological order, including the novellas. While each book has a complete plot line, the overall series storyline makes more sense when read in full and the individual stories of each character do begin and continue throughout each book. It would also deepen the whole experience to read each and every book in this amazing series. And why not? Because if you like suspense, adventure, strong characters, amazing romance, friendship, soul searching and faith, then the Montana Rescue series is perfect for you.

The publishers provided an advanced readers copy of this book for reviewing purposes. All opinions are my own.

Fourth book in, to probably my favourite series (Montana Rescue) from Susan May Warren, and it just keeps getting better & better. She's an author who can somehow reach the very essence of your heart and pull you right in to the pages. The magic of her storytelling ability, is such that by now, the PEAK team is a real entity in your mind, working and living in the area surrounding Glacier NP.

If you've read this series from the very beginning, you've been following this disastrous relationship between Ian & Sierra for a long time. In fact, it gets so dire at times I've actually thought - it's time, let's move on. It's been hard to feel much empathy with Ian. He's not your regular type of guy and a little hard to relate to. Sure he's had his fair amount of challenges & heartache - but he can be brutal when it comes to his interpersonal skills.

Sierra, has had quite the upbringing. One in which I can't relate to either, yet something struck a chord with me as I read Susan's notes at the end. She mentions this concept of 'adopted child' or 'forgotten child' - in Sierra's case. This need to work so hard to find acceptance and validation from those in your circle. The desire to be cherished and never let go. In some way being a middle child, that felt like getting lost in the cracks at times, I wonder if that has not shaped my personality too. Highly likely.

This story brings about a conclusion for Ian & Sierra, in a brilliantly told epic adventure of their own. For the first time we leave Montana behind, which I will admit, wasn't my idea of fun. Mostly because my love for Glacier is what drew me hook, line and sinker into this series to begin with. Yet, as we set sail into the Gulf of Mexico we are taken on an rollercoaster ride so unique, it truly is the story and plot we needed for Ian & Sierra.

I couldn't put this down. If it wasn't Christmas and I wasn't super busy I'd have read this in a day. I have been so excited for the next in this series, that as soon as I was granted this eARC from Netgalley, all I wanted to do was drop everything and open up this book.

What a ride, what a troubling, distressing and surprising conclusion for the characters who began it all. You will not be disappointed with this entire series, or 'Troubled Waters'.

And, oh. Pete. And Jess. They are truly my favourite two and the plot thickens.... I don't always love a book, but when I do, I fall hard. Five full stars of love for this story.

Thanks to Netgalley & Revell for the complimentary copy. This is my honest review.

The easy solution to this book: communication! Seriously, Ian and Sierra, you could have been together 3.5 books ago if you would have communicated!!! And, so, my readers, that was my main “problem” with the book. I know, I know. There must be some drama in order for there to be a story. But, let us be clear on one thing. I am not dissing Susan May Warren. I like her books; they are very enjoyable. This one however just had way too much of the “I love her so much but she doesn’t want me” and “I love him so much but he doesn’t have room for me.” Come on, characters! If you would actually talk to each other, you could have been together—maybe even married—by now!
Anyway, sorry about that little rant. I just had to let loose. I am glad that Ian and Sierra finally got their story, but I am just slightly disappointed in it. I really enjoyed reading about all the side characters. I just kind of got sick of the main ones. If you have read it, you may know what I am talking about.
Unfortunately, I don’t really like the cover. It is weird. I mean, “Ian” is just staring at me creepily. See it? Yeah, not my type.
Hmm, I guess I have to give this book a low rating. And I do not like doing that. However, I must give this book 2 stars. There were a few aspects that I enjoyed about this book, but unfortunately there were more of the parts that I didn’t like. I am not giving up on Susan though! I am still excited for her new books!

"She just had to escape Ian Shaw before she started crying."

It's always been this way between Sierra Rose and Ian Shaw; love and admiration gone the way of utter frustration. He comes and he goes, he employs her and then he fires her, he lights a fire in her heart and manages to completely douse it out with his over bearing, over protective, over controlling personality. Can it be any different this time? Apparently not.

For once, self-made billionaire Ian Shaw is a man on the verge of implosion. He has returned to his Montana ranch with the notion of selling it; his liquid assets having been frozen by the government after an unfortunate accident on one of his oil fields, and his long search for his missing niece at a complete standstill. And Sierra? She will hardly give him the time of day.

When a PEAK rescue helicopter suffers extensive damage following a freak accident, Sierra manages to convince Ian to host a weekend yachting excursion on his "Montana Rose", with the intention of securing a few large donations from his wealthy acquaintances towards the necessary repairs. What happens on those troubled waters serves to prove that "God is our refuge and our portion", for "it's never a bad thing to have only God to turn to".

Enjoy this much anticipated story, filled with romantic and climatic suspense of the heart and helm!

You know, we all have those favorite authors where we eagerly await their next release, knowing that before you even begin reading the book, it is going to be good. Susan May Warren is one of those; I know from the minute I first hold her newest book, it is going to be a great ride!
Troubled Waters is just like that, good from the first word to the last; so good, in fact, you begin eagerly awaiting the next release in the series! While each book could conceivably be read as a standalone, I ask why would anyone want to miss out on it all?
It is Ian and Sierra's story Warren writes about in Troubled Waters; a story full of danger and rescue; romance and misunderstandings, and cookies! When Sierra is troubled about something, whether it is the high stakes rescue of the team members following the crash of their helicopter in the midst of rescuing a firefighter during a dangerous mountain fire or her relationship with Ian.
The state of the art helicopter used by the rescue team is severely damaged in the crash and it will take hundreds of thousands of dollars to fix it. The team doesn't have that kind of revenue nor do they have anyway of obtaining it, until Sierra comes up with the idea of a celebrity cruise on Ian's yacht, a very big yacht, a yacht that even he has not taken out yet.
Designing a cruise for celebrities and the very rich is nothing new to Sierra, who has her own secrets that she refuses to reveal, not even Ian. The 3-day cruise is going well and everyone is having a great time, but secrets have a way of coming to light when people from one's past suddenly show up on a yacht.
When a giant rogue wave hits the yacht, what happens next is...
Ah, I cannot tell you that, you must read the book for yourself! I will tell you that I read this book in less than 24 hours, within which I also worked 6 hours; slept 8; family time/meals, etc., yet...I still could not get Ian and Sierra out of my mind. I simply had to know.

It’s no secret I love everything Susan May Warren writes, and her latest adrenaline-packed romance is no exception. Fans of the “Montana Rescue” series have eagerly waited for Ian and Sierra’s story, sometimes not-so-patiently (ahem, that’s me). This fourth book is everything I hoped it would be and more!
Troubled Waters is a page-turning, heart-engaging story of choice, love, and sacrifice. The story is full of adrenaline-fueled moments of action and serious, soul-level conversations between the characters. If I were the nail-biting type, I don’t think I would have many left!
This series continues to impress because of its increasing complexity in both plot and character development. For instance, Susan’s writing proves excellent not because she uses high peril situations to take advantage of the emotions of the moment, but because she uses unusual or trying circumstances to show her characters a truth or lesson about themselves or their peers. In Ian and Sierra’s case, they each deal with honesty, control, and choosing faith when you have nothing else to hold on to. They have to reach their limits both physically and emotionally to push past their problems and grow.

The ROMANCE is everything I wanted it to be. From the very beginning (the prequel novella), I was rooting for Ian and Sierra. But, they both had to journey down some difficult paths before they were in a place to truly, selflessly love and support each other.

Another treat for returning fans of this series is Pete and Jess’s page time!!!!! Their story will be the final book in the series. I really like the way Pete has matured and the man he has gradually grown into over this series…. he makes some impressive choices in Troubled Waters. I’m anxious to see how things will fall into place between them!

Ok, I’m done gushing over this favorite series! If you want, you can visit the previous books in the series for more of my thoughts.

Thank you to Revell and Baker Publishing Group for the review copy. This is my honest review.

Amazing! In many ways, Troubled Waters is the culmination of well over a year of experiencing the thwarted love and friendship between Ian and Sierra Rose while reading the Montana Rescue series. The Montana Rescue series is a winner in every sense of the word. The author has me so immersed in the world of this team of heroes and heroines, their triumphs and sorrows, and ultimately their redemption -- always the gentle yet powerful hand of love and redemption pulling them through.

Ian and Sierra are a non-conventional couple in that, at first glance, they seem ill-suited to be in a serious relationship. Sierra also feels this and allows it to distance her emotionally from Ian. She also makes some questionable choices, knowing that they risk her own heart. Ian, on the other hand, seems high-handed at times and unyielding, also creating barriers between himself and Sierra. But, in his own willfulness, he is crushing his own heart's desire and possibly his very salvation. Through heartache and tragedy, however, much is revealed and hope shines through.

However, my heart is still breaking for Pete and Jess....ugh! And what's next for Ty? I'd also like to know more about Dex, moving forward from his life-changing experience in Troubled Waters.

There's a world of people that Susan May Warren has created but they feel to me as though they are, even now, living and changing lives somewhere out in Montana. I can't wait for more updates on Sierra and Ian, of course, all of the Montana Rescue Team.

I received an ARC from the publisher but this review represents my own experience and opinions. (I've pre-ordered the kindle version and I'm already hoping for, and planning to purchase, the audiobook version to share with my daughters who are too busy running after toddlers to sit down with a book.)

Welcome back to Montana (for a little while, anyway) and the strong, capable men and intelligent, tenacious women who make up the PEAK rescue team in Glacier National Park. I am fascinated by how Susan May Warren continues to submerge readers in the middle of natural disasters and give us a taste of the danger and fear those bring with them.
When Ian and Sierra travel to the Gulf of Mexico for a junket to raise money for PEAK Rescue’s disabled helicopter, they never dreamed they’d need their own rescue team. Well, Ian might have.
Yet this is the catalyst that forces Ian and Sierra to talk about what’s between them—something they’ve been ignoring for an entire year. It also forces them to take a look at themselves as well as their faults and faith.
The thread of Jess and Pete’s story continues to weave throughout this book giving readers glimpses into what’s bound to be a whopper of a finale to this series…but up next, Ty gets his turn at bat.

Wow, I’m so glad I’m not one of Susan May Warren’s characters. She really knows how to make their lives go through the spin-cycle both physically and emotionally. This book has so much suspense, action, and drama that you’ll be thankful your life is easy compared to theirs. However, true to Ms. Warren’s style, through it all there is the ever presence of God’s unending love and care. Plus, there’s a bit of romance to keep you going.
This book kept me reading and reading, yet there were a couple of time I needed to come up for air because it was so intense. I loved it!
I could go on and on about this book and the parts which really grabbed me, but I don’t want to spoil your fun.
I truly loved this book and am looking forward to the next one in the series. I know there will be more and can’t wait to read them.
Susan May Warren is a gifted writer. She has the most fantastic way of weaving stories together and drawing us in with all the vivid word pictures she paints. She is one of my favorite authors. Whatever Ms. Warren writes I’ll read, because I know I’ll be captivated.

Troubled Waters is a fantastic addition to the Montana Rescue series. Each book in this series is better then the previous book. Troubled Water has an intense plot that kept me glued to the book. Ms. Warren is such a good author an thoroughly entertains the reader with her writing. The characters in this book are so believable that they feel like family. I am on pins and needles for the next book in this series. I recommend this book to readers who enjoy a good romance along with suspense.

I received an ARC from the author but that in no way influenced this review.

Hang on tight for a thrill ride of a story.  Troubled Waters has so many ups and downs that it is hard to put down.  One minute you want to run and hug Ian and Sierra and tell them everything is alright and the next you want to slap some sense into them.  It is a story that feels very true to life as both Ian and Sierra face things in their pasts that makes them second guess themselves and if they would be worthy of one another.

It was great to see some old faces of PEAK and also meet some people from Ian's past.  It truly helps you to realize what has made Ian the man he is now and just why Sierra is the way she is.  It also leaves you wanting more as Jess and Pete still try to figure out if they belong together and quiet Ty is lurking in the background, making you wonder, okay just what is his story?  This is a team that is more family then anything and will drop everything to help a friend in need.  Troubled Waters is a must read for any Susan May Warren fans and even ones who are just looking for a good read.  Definitely pick up this book and the others in the Montana Rescue series.

Wow! This novel was packed with action, packed with drama, packed with decisions, packed with attraction, and packed with heart! The action sequences were so intense that I found myself having to set the book down and take a breather because the characters were being put through so much. But their intense struggles were all worth it in the end, and I was left eagerly awaiting the next book in the series.

Troubled Waters ramped up the plot between Ian and Sierra, the main characters of this novel. They have both struggled with so much hurt and unresolved feelings toward each other in the previous books in the series. It was fulfilling to finally see how things came out for them as I turned the final pages of this book.

Jess and Pete’s relationship ramped up in this story, as well. Decisions were made and more questions raised. I am really looking forward to eventually seeing how things come out for them. I have a real soft spot for Pete in this series and want him to find his happily ever after.

Troubled Waters is book four in the Montana Rescue series. I suggest reading all of the books in this series, in order, including the prequel novella. Otherwise, I believe that the ongoing storylines that thread throughout all of these novels won’t be able to be adequately enjoyed or understood. This is definitely a favorite series of mine and I highly recommend it.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I think what I love about this book is how we get to see a very deep and sensitive side of Ian. It's his journey of letting go of control and learning how to trust other people; which is something he hadn't been able to do thus far. He feels a deep responsibility to be a "fixer", a problem solver which you can see in the previous books. There's SO much truth sprinkled throughout the story! It challenged me to stop and think about my own life. I love the simplicity and how easy it is to read a book by Susan May Warren but also so enlightening! It was fun to revisit more of the characters from the PEAK Rescue Team and see how more of their stories play out. This book kept me on the edge of my seat and drew me in. I loved it and would recommend the entire series!!

Finally the story for Ian and Sierra!! I have been looking forward to this story since book 1 in the Montana Rescue series. Boy howdy, it was worth the wait. This is my favorite so far. The author put these characters through the wringer. The book was jam packed full of one action packed adventure after another. I couldn't put this book down. Oh and my favorite part? The sweet romance between Ian and Sierra. I was swooning and smiling during a very particular part of the story. I can't say more because I don't want to spoil it for you. You just need to read it.

Do not, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, make the mistake of picking this book up just as you’re getting into bed for the night. “Just one chapter,” I told myself. “I’ll just give myself a sneak peek before I go to sleep.” Hah! Mmfthbph chapters later I was guilted into putting it down and going to sleep, *smiles sheepishly at husband* but then I was supposed to be writing a review for a different book the next day, and do you think I could get my head out of this one? Nuh-uh. Good thing we women are excellent multitaskers! ;-)

But seriously, Ian and Sierra’s story has been stewing since the prequel novella to this series. It developed further in book one, Wild Montana Skies, and we’ve been able to follow developments in the search for Esme across the series, but it’s been a long wait for these two to finally get their happily ever after. And it turns out their relationship is the least of their worries!

Once again, Susan May Warren proves herself a master at creating harrowing man vs nature experiences for her readers. Not only that, but she uses them to challenge and grow her characters as individuals rather than just pushing them together as a couple. And Ian and Sierra definitely have some issues of their own to work through before they will survive as a couple!

And Pete and Jess! Oh man. Their story is hitting me in all the feels. My heart is still in a vice over that one, but in a good way, not an angsty way. I love the way Pete has matured over this series, especially to get to where he is in this book. <3 <3

This book fulfilled every crevice of my anticipation and then some. If you love romantic suspense, you really need to check out this series!

I received a copy of this novel from the publisher. This has not influenced the content of my review, which is my honest and unbiased opinion.

"I recognize that look. Defeat. Broken and at the end of yourself." (p 321) That perfectly describes me all through this book! Bwahahaha! Seriously tummy-tied-in-pretzel-knots emotional angst of a read. Warren put this romance-loving reader through her paces with not one but two heart-crushing love stories.

And once again I'm left clamoring for more when it comes to Jess and Pete. Honestly, those two are killing me!!! This might be a good place to recommend reading the Montana Rescue books in order since relationships carry over from one book to the next. You could read Troubled Waters as a standalone, but you will feel ever excruciating nuance more if you've been following the team from the very beginning. :-)

So, back to Pete and Jess who have been dancing around each other forever (or so it seems) and they did make some toe-curling, fainting couch swoonworthy progress...until Warren slammed them with harsh reality. Sigh. It shouldn't bother me so much, I know. They are only fictional characters --oh, who am I kidding? There is no 'only' when it comes to the people this author brings to life in her books. And it looks like Pete and Jess (and me) will have to wait a while longer to get our happily ever after. Sigh.

But I can be okay with that (somewhat) because Ian and Sierra finally wrangle their way back to each other. Oy. My heart hurt soooooo much for them! Sierra, bound by an impossible sense of honor and loving Ian so completely and deeply for so long. She wears her heart on her sleeve and is so openly vulnerable that everyone notices...except Ian. Gah! He's his own worst enemy. Compulsively organizing everything because he needs to be in control. All the time. He has to learn to let go and find God before any of us have a hope of healing Sierra's broken heart.

Once again Susan May Warren dazzles with intense, faith-fueled and action-packed romance.

Finally!

As soon as I noticed that “Troubled Waters” was available, I knew I HAD TO read it. It’s been the most anticipated book for me since the beginning of this series, thanks to “If Ever I Would Leave You,” of course.

Ian and Sierra had so much history. They truly deserved a book focused on them.

I do believe that they complicated everything unnecessarily in previous books, but I think that’s what we do when there are unresolved issues in our hearts.

I identified so much with Sierra and Ian at different aspects of their personalities. I could easily relate with some of their struggles and thinking patterns.

The story was good. I especially enjoyed learning more about Ian. He’s always been so perfect and put together, but this book showed him in a more profound and vulnerable way. He was my favorite.

I liked Sierra, too, but I guess I couldn’t connect with her that much, even though we have more than one thing in common.

One day, I’d like to own a yacht just to name it “Montana Rose.” The name was so fitting. However, I didn’t like very much that “inconvenient situation” that encouraged our main characters to have the conversations they needed to have long time ago. It seemed a bit forced to me, but, that’s a matter of opinion, I guess.

As always, dialogues were great, and I could actually see myself on board, because the author made me part of the journey.

It was also great to catch up with Pete and Jess. I seriously believe their book should be next, but I know that won’t happen. So, we’ll have to wait to see how things work for them at the end.

What a wild ride! Finally, the rest of the story for Ian and Sierra.

Susan May Warren is a skilled writer of intrigue and gritty characters with a soft side who offers spiritual truths and restoration. Troubled Waters, on every page, offers both hope and second chances at life, love and reconciliation with friends, family, relationships and God. Be prepared to long for the next book in the Montana Rescue series.

I received a complimentary copy of the book without obligation. This review is my own opinion.

Reader will love this story of Ian and Sierra. Ms. Warren gave her readers another great story with characters that they have come to love. One of the things I appreciated about this story is the real conversations that the men were having. It is nice to see men be open and honest when dealing with God and life issues. The friendship build in this series is based on their relationship with God and speaking the truth in love. Ms. Warren does a great job of letting readers come to know or want to know this God that she writes about in her books.

I would recommend this book to anyone. It was my pleasure to be on her launch team and this review is my choice to write for a great book. Her books continues to remind me that people need to know and have a relationship with God.

Ian and Sierra finally get their story! Since the first prequel to this series, I've been anxiously awaiting the day Ian and Sierra would get their own full book, as they have been two of my favorite characters in the other novels in this series.

Most of the novels in this series take place in Montana--this one is set on board a boat, which adds some nice variety to the novel's setting. I won't share any spoilers, but there's lots of action and adventure in this book.

Highly recommend the whole series! I received an advanced reader copy of this novel from the publisher.

Susan May Warren is a phenomenon! Her incredible stories plunge readers into a world of adventure and romance and remind us that the best adventure of all is putting our faith in God to follow wherever He leads.

I love her. My student readers love her. (If you have not introduced her books to the teen readers in your life, what are you waiting for?) Other writers love her.

What else can I say? Buy this book—better yet, buy the whole series and share with a fellow bookworm. You’ll make their day & yours :)

Troubled Waters by Susan May Warren is a wonderful Christian contemporary romantic adventure. It is the fourth book in the Montana Rescue series but can be read as a stand-alone. For maximum enjoyment I would recommend reading the other books in the series.
This book is about choice. We all face choices but the biggest one is whether to choose Jesus. "There comes a time... when he either has to get right with Jesus and ask for help, or go it alone." Doing life alone is no fun and not what God intended. There is always a choice to "choose faith or fear." When we have faith, we have nothing to fear.
Sometimes we feel we are not 'good enough' for God but we have forgotten about grace that covers us all. "Your worth to God has nothing to do with your action. He loves you because He wants to."
God is the God of restoration and second chances. A house restored in the novel can be seen as a motif for our lives. God longs to restore us and bring us back to Him.
A house demolished by fire is another motif. Fire can be purifying. God can cleanse, mould and rebuild our shattered lives.
Jesus was God's rescue plan for planet earth. He will not give up until He has found each one of us and brought us home. Likewise in the novel, PEAK rescue team will not stop searching. No one is left behind. They and God "rescue the lost."
We think by running from our pain and filling our lives that we can escape from our memories. "I just... kept running." We must confront and deal with our past before we can move into our future.
God answers prayer even when He hasn't heard from us in a long time. God bends His ear and delights in us. Sometimes we have no words to pray but God knows the desires and groanings of our heart. When we are lost He will find us and bring us home.
Troubled Waters is a marvellous read. I could not put it down. I really cannot wait for book five in this fabulous Montana Rescue series. Many more please Susan May Warren.
I received this book for free. A favourable review was not required and all views expressed are my own.

The action got intense in this one!

We follow the continuation of these characters we’ve known since book 1 so definitely need to read this series in order to understand everything.

I liked this one because it was kind of about a shipwreck and surviving on an island for some of it.

The faith included was soooo good! Susan May Warren is excellent at that.

Definitely want to read the next one!

This is one of my favorite series. Well, the previous series, Montana Fire is my favorite, but this is a close second to it. These books are SO good. I think one of the reasons for this is that the characters cross over to other books. Sometimes they are in the spotlight, sometimes they are in the background, but they are always there. The characters become familiar and personal- like family. I really love that feeling.

Ian and Sierra are two people that have been swirling around in every book of this Montana Rescue series. They even have their own novella! Theirs is the longest drawn out soap opera like relationship of the series. This book has been a LONG time coming for Ian and Sierra. You won't believe the drama that awaits you in this book!

This whole series is full of adventure and danger. Usually this occurs in the mountains of Montana, but this book takes things out to the Caribbean. It was terrifying, honestly. I really want to go read all about rogue waves now but I'm kinda scared to. I don't know if it will help or make me more afraid! Regardless, this book had me on the edge of my seat more than once. My feelings were invested and I was all in.

This is a series you really need to read in order. There is progression for all the characters in each book and if you skip one, you won't really get all the back history. I was so happy to see some resolution for Ian and Sierra and I just know they will be appearing in future books which makes me even happier. Nobody ever really goes away in this series.

I love Susan May Warren's books as a rule, and TROUBLED WATERS is edge of your seat fiction that will keep you riveted all the way to the end of the book.

Ian and Sierra have this type of on again and off again relationship. They fell in love pretty much the moment they met but Sierra is the daughter of a hippie and Ian is a billionaire and used to having things his way and while Sierra was a competent employee he was the boss. Now, she's fired, basically homeless and working for the PEAK Rescue company, but when a helicopter goes down in a fire they are left stranded, especially when it turns out that the helicopter wasn't insured!

To raise money Sierra proposes using Ian's yacht to have a fund-raiser for PEAK. But then things go from bad to worse.

There are two romances in this book, but Pete and Jess's remains unfinished as at least for now, Jess has to go her own way.

TROUBLED WATERS is stand alone, but fans will want to read them in order to find out the history behind PEAK, see Ian and Sierra meet for the first time, and read the other team members' stories.

The books are (in order) Wild Montana Skies, Rescue Me, A Matter of Trust and TROUBLED WATERS. Don't miss a single episode of this adventure romance series by Susan May Warren.

My only complaint, she calls the Coast Guard bozos. Really. My son is a Coastie. I told my son though and he laughed.

I was given a copy free. All opinions are my own.
