DUAL IMAGE

Soap-opera star Ariel Kirkwood has got her hands full. Playing Booth DeWitt’s cruel ex-wife in his semiautobiographical film is the chance of a lifetime. Not only that, she’s secretly in the middle of a custody battle for her brother’s son. The last thing she has time for is a complicated relationship with a moody screenwriter, yet Ariel can’t get sexy Booth out of her mind. Ever since his very public breakup with his ex-wife, Booth has had serious trust issues. All the same, he can’t help it when Ariel makes her way into his life—and into his heart.

THE BEST MISTAKE

Ex-model Zoe Fleming is now a hardworking single mom—and she wouldn’t have it any other way. That being said, she needs a tenant to share household expenses. What she gets is confirmed bachelor J. Cooper McKinnon. Coop has no intentions of settling down anytime soon, but when he meets Zoe’s son, Keenan, he can’t help but bond with the young boy—and fall for his independent mother. But Zoe has zero room in her life for a man! Either this was a recipe for disaster or the best mistake she’s ever made.

Sometimes Nora's books are reissued with other books in a two or three for one deal. So this is two books in one. Double the Nora! Yay!

In the first book our heroine is a free spirit who wears her emotions on her sleeve. But she is also a brilliant actress. She's been working in a soap opera for years and the perfect part lands in her lap. The role was almost made for her. Unfortunately the writer of the screenplay has the deciding vote in choosing the person to play the heroine in his story. His story is the recounting of his disastrous marriage to a temperamental, self centered actress. He knows our heroine is perfect for the part, but when he watches her performance he keeps seeing the ex. He enters their relationship with a whole baggage of preconceptions, and they are all bad. Can he see our heroine for who she is? Or will he keep seeing her with the image of his lying, cheating wife superimposed?

In the second book we have another writer. He is a sports writer for a magazine and is looking for a place to get away from the city and enjoy life in the 'burbs. Our heroine is a single mom with an adorable 5 year old boy who is looking to rent the mother-in-law apartment. Our little boy is looking for someone to play ball with. In steps our hero. The two bond over sports and 'guy stuff'. Cause, you know girls don't like sports. *she shakes her head over the monogyny*
Anyway, our hero quickly assumes mother and son are trying to trap him into marriage and tries to push them away.

As usual the women Nora creates are strong. When the men they are in love with push them away or act like dic&s the women don't take it. They say "If you don't want to be here then I don't want you here." They insist on being treated with respect. I love her heroines!

Dual Image is the main story

Booth DeWitt has turned his life experience with his ex-wife in to a new film. More than a bit of a cold and cruel woman, Booth knew he needed the right woman to portray her in the film, but Ariel Kirkwood might have a physical likeness, her spirit is light and happy. He is not looking for a relationship, and watching her turn the switch and appear as cruel as his ex is daunting.

Ariel might give all the outward appearances of being a happy and carefree actress. Her daily roll on a soap opera pays the bills and she actually enjoys it. But her life behind the scenes is in turmoil. She is in a battle to try to win custody of her young nephew from his maternal grandparents after the death of his parents. His happiness must be placed above all else. But the she meets Booth. A man that takes life a bit too serious, and needs her to help bring out the joy.

A nice story.

The Best Mistake is the second story.

Zoe Fleming takes in a new boarder to help make ends meet. Raising her son on her own isn't easy, but she is getting by and moving up. J. Cooper McKinnon moving in will make things just a bit easier.

Coop is a sports writer for the local paper. Having a woman underfoot is fine, but the son is another matter. But Keenan has a way of showing him the joy in the simple things. Throwing the ball around, shooting hoops, or swinging a bat from the eyes of a young boy, help open the eyes of the writer in him.

A Mother’s Love is by Nora Roberts. It definitely meets her high standards for an excellent book. This book contains two different books which are both great. The first is Dual Image which is about a soap opera star who gets the starring role in a new movie. Of course, she falls in love with the writer; but does not allow that to get in between her and the role. The interesting part is the role is playing his ex-wife. You then add in her attempt to gain custody of her young nephew after his parents die in an accident. Can she manage her career, her love life, and still manage to beat the law suit over her nephew, Scott?
The second book is The Best Mistake. Zoe Fleming has exchanged her role as a top model for that of a single mom. However, in order to keep her house with the all-important yard, she has to take in a boarder. When newspaperman, J. Cooper McKinnon, appears the night before the ad comes out in the paper, Zoe is surprised. She is faced with a gorgeous man as a boarder; and a confirmed bachelor as well. This might work, except, her son, Keenan, takes a liking to Cooper and Cooper can’t help but take an equal liking to Keenan. How will this end without Keenan getting his heart broken? Will Zoe come out complete as well?

Dual Image
Ariel (Amanda) works as an actress in a daytime drama, Our Lives, Our Loves. Her chance for a movie career happens when Booth DeWitt is looking for a role in his movie. The movie is really about his life, about the relationship he had with his x-wife, Rae. Ariel plays the role so well, the lines get blurred. Booth is not sure if he can trust Ariel as he falls in love with her.

The Best Mistake
Zoe models until she falls in love with a professional tennis player, Roberto Lorenzi. She becomes pregnant, he doesn’t want the child, and she decides to raise the child herself. Zoe purchases a house, works at a flower shop and as a waitress to support her son Keenan. She has a loft to rent and J. Cooper McKinnon comes into her life. A sportswriter and a bachelor for life, at least he thinks.

These were very short, very expected love stories. An escape in the world of COVID-19.

Two novels for the price of one! Both involve women and love. Nora Roberts is another author that is very descriptive, which make her novels interesting to read.
