I had the privilege of using this book in a small group with the author. My fiancé and I loved it and found it really helpful for our pre marital discussions. I highly recommend it!

I have been listening to the #staymarried podcast and reading their blog for some time, so I was thrilled when Michelle announced that she would be writing a book. Her couples devotional exceeded my expectations--this book combines personal anecdotes and relatable experiences, sound relationship advice based on research evidence, and pieces of biblical scripture. I particularly enjoyed the discussion questions at the end of each chapter that really help you reflect on the reading and connect with your partner. I feel very privileged to have gotten access to an advance review copy that I powered through on my own, and I am looking forward to reading this weekly with my husband. This is a great resource for couples in the early stages of their relationship or for those who are looking to reconnect or need guidance in a particular area. Although there are some Christian elements in this book, I think this could be a useful tool for couples of a different or no religious affiliation (although you may have to skip around some parts). The chapters are brief, accessible, and entertaining, which makes this a great resource for those who want to build up their relationship but don't have a lot of free time to read a heavy book together. I definitely recommend this book and plan to share it with friends and family.

This book is a HOAX! This book is written by an uneducated #metoo advocate who doesn’t even have an hour of seminary school. She presents this book as a Christian devotional but her messages are manipulating and toxic. The book starts by saying that marriages cannot survive with just god, they need more. It goes on to say that she has seen many marriages crumble that had set God as the highest priority in their marriage. The author is a fake, a hoax, a snake. DONT BUY THIS GARBAGE!

The only thing I would say I didn’t like was that at times some of the chapters seemed like were somewhat irrelevant in a marriage or that the author was just grasping for something to write about to make a chapter. But it was still a good devotional.

Husband and I started #staymarried as a devotional we wanted to do together when we hit a rough patch in our marriage last year. Every marriage has struggles and the title #staymarried felt like exactly what we needed. Our commitment to staying married was one of the main things that got us through this particular time. But we knew we needed to up our communication and we'd always intended to do devotionals together but never did until now. That's why we chose this book.

At first, I felt like #staymarried wasn't going to end up being the best devotional for us. Many of the chapters felt better suited for engaged couples than for already married ones. Many of the topics were things we've discussed extensively throughout our marriage and relationship. I didn't feel as if there was much new territory for us to explore based on some of the week's topics. But if nothing else the book did spark conversation even if we were discussing things we've talked about in the past. And eventually, we had several topics and weeks that hit exactly what we were going through at exactly the right moment.

Husband rated #staymarried as 5 Stars. I feel like it deserves more of a 4 Star rating. I enjoyed it. The topics did spark conversation which was our main goal in starting it. But I truly feel like newlyweds or engaged couples will get more out of this book than couples that have been married 10 years or more. I also felt like the discussion questions could have been more in-depth and pushed the couples a little deeper. It might be helpful for couples to read the week's chapter individually to provide time to think through the discussion questions before discussing them together. Have you read #staymarried? What did you think? Let me know!

This book actually has some decent material, but the order of the devotions is beyond bad:

Week 1 - Planning a Beautiful Marriage

Week 2 - For Better or Worse

(Ok, so far so good.)

Week 3 - Confession (!)

Week 3 encourages you to confess any secret that you've withheld from your spouse - big or small. So what's the problem with that? Well, the devotions necessary to survive what could be some heavy duty relationship revelations don't come along until much later in the year, assuming that you are still married at that point.

Week 15 - Slow to Anger

Week 27 - Forgive One Another

Week 29 - The Empathy Two-Step

Week 34 - Can I Trust You?

There are probably others, but those are the ones that jump out at me.

While this program would probably be OK by rearranging the weeks to move "Confession" towards the end, it simply blows my mind that neither the author nor the editor ever asked whether the cart had been put before the horse.

Great for positive growth

Mt New husband and I read through this in our first and second year. Our goal was once a week but sometimes other things came up. There were a few chapters that weren't as meaningful as others, but overall it really helped us connect and have a common goal. I really love the authors emphasis on teamwork.

This was a year long couples devotional that I started with all intentions of putting it into practice. I will say I played it down for over 6 months and read it this week just to finish the book. It has a lot of great Bible verses in here but it also tells the authors love story which isn’t everyone’s.

This was a good devotional that you do once a week and it carries you throughout the year. Still looking for a devotional that is more applicable to Jon and I’s unique relationship. Since we don’t have children of our own many marriage devotionals don’t seem to have that fit we are seeking.

Christian or not, married or not, single or not. This book was so good. Short little easy to relate to stories with engaging questions after each lesson - they go by weeks but I did it by days. I would use question #1 as our question for the day to discuss.
Great read and highly suggest.

This was a great book, but I definitely think it's geared more towards newlyweds. There were good points for the wife and I to reflect on, but overall I did not find a ton of value having a very established and prosperous marriage.

I gave this book 3 starts because my husband and I have been married for 26years and 70% of the book is really for newly married couples.

It took us two years to finish this. We didn’t get much out of it. Very redundant and not very deep.

Full disclosure: I know the author of this book. We go to the same church, and I played on the music team with her husband for a couple years. That being said, I can personally attest to the amazing heart and warmth that Michelle has for others. Her marriage and family have always been something I admire, and I cannot think of a better person to write a book like this.

#Staymarried is not perfect. There are times where the chapter questions feel more like a school quiz asking you to recap what you read than an invite to discuss with your spouse. Other questions have such definitive answers that it leaves little room for discussion. In the end, that does not matter. There are plenty of chapters covering excellent topics with questions that spurred my wife and I into deep conversations. It helped fuel our intimacy, and aided in keeping us connected each week throughout this year.

The purpose of #Staymarried is a noble one, and it succeeds. It is a book that is worth diving into no matter how long you have been married, and whatever state your marriage is in.

Going to give this a 2.5/3 in between rating because technically me and my husband have not finished it. We have read some of it but did not care for what we have read so far so we will slowly pick it up here and there to read since we bought it. We did not pick this book to resolve any type of marriage problem or rut, but we thought it would be something to read together like when we read our Bible. Will update rating if we finish it.

My husband and I enjoyed reading this together. I love the layout of story telling, lesson, questions, and prayer. The questions got us talking deep discussions. Enjoyed the topics it touched on. Definitely a must read for any married couple.
